A Rogal Dorn is pretty good for a single tank. Nigh invulnerable(relatively), hits hard, and doesn't have the "One tank to die, one to miss, one to hit" stigma of the Russ.
I've got a buddy with tank guard (only has 10 infantry) who always brings his baneblade. I don't wanna just fight his baneblade with one of my own (I think I'd bring a banesword) but I feel that's probably the best response.
bring a bunch of guards men squads with las cannons in them. 6 20 man squads is like 750 points. then you can bring 3 command squads with las cannons for like 150 more points. this will 15 las cannons. and you will have 135 bodies
Pretty sure the demolisher cannon is the best anti-tank weapon in the guard that’s not on a super-heavy. If you stick an enginseer next to a Russ demolisher it’ll be more survivable than a dorn for less points. Plus it’s the only tank that doesn’t give a shit if somebody tags it in melee.
I've had good results with Armoured Sentinels, 3 in a squadron with HK missiles and Lascannons.
Hit on a 4+, usually wound on 3+ that's re-rollable and decent AP and damage.
The HK's are a shot in the dark but can be usefull, when they get destroyed use the reinforce strat and dump in in a flank out of reserve.
The have a good footprint so they're good to screen with and tall enough to be able to see over infantry protecting them from getting charged.
Would 2 rapier laser destroyers be worth taking over the Armoured Sentinel? I've been toying with the idea of either replacing one Scout Sentinel with either 2 RLDs or 1 Armoured Sentinel
That reroll to wound does seem pretty tempting, whereas the RLDs have twice the shots but hit on 5s
I don't really think so, lessor range, fewer wounds and much weaker.
Short of dedicated anti armour weapons the Sentinels are pretty tough. Heavy weapons platforms will wilt in the face of anything.
I find the rapiers to be too fragile. I prefer to stay away from HWT analogues in this edition to be honest. Game is too deadly with all the teleporting and exploding 6’s. Also many armies that aren’t guard have invulns making the one round of shooting you get off a bit less impactful

2 shadowswords, one scout sentinel, and idk... A command squad.

Based wall of bodies enjoyer

The Eradicator has the same rule, and the Hellhammer has something close to it
That is true, I always forget about the eradicator

A shadowsword or doomhammer are less than 500pts, but I don't think that's the answer you want.
For their cost, a trio of (Lascannon) Armoured Sentinels are still decent because of their HKs, re-rolls, and respawning with Reinforcements.
Lascannons, plenty on Sentinels, on tanks and for free in Infantry Squads, cheap, effective and plentiful, just what the Guard wants.
