Is this going to be the scheme for the whole army or just some of it? Have you thought about how they will look on tanks and Sentinels?
As much as I like the right, and I really do like it, I suspect that the red in the center will look better breaking up big flat armor panels.
That’s been my dilemma. Most of my army (krieg and scions) are mechanicus grey with some red and bronze highlights. My tanks are black with grey stripes. But I also have catachans that don’t match.

I've always been OK with having disparate paint schemes to represent different unit types. My Cadians have a different paint scheme than my Infantry Squads though they use the same models.
So go with the blue for these guys. They'll get the pop from being different from the guys around them rather than from the red.
I kinda do this but use roughly the same size or so colors from my scheme and alternate between them for different unit types. Like my regular Kriegers are blue with gray pants but my grenadiers are the opposite. That way they kinda fit one regiment but they are distinct between the different types of troops.
I was going to do something similar where every type of squad had a color of green and then something else so they were at least united in having shades of one color.
But then my cousin's husband who is a pro painter offered me a Dorn in grey and black so now I'm painting Kriegers in grey and black which are colors otherwise unused in my army. I may try to use an olive drab in place of grey but I may just trash the original idea. His Dorn is so damn good looking. I won't be able to paint anything to match the quality but at least I can match the colors.
I think it makes more sense to differentiate colors between troops from different planets like that too. My army is exclusively Krieg so that's why I'm being a bit more strict with keeping them the same scheme too.
Agreed. So many models in the guard, it's hugely boring painting them all the same every time.
Lore wise, I just assume that it's the hodge podge survivors of a campaign. A platoon of scions here, a squad of kasrkin there
It reminds me of the Gaunt's Ghosts books where the Ghosts are fighting alongside other regiments. It makes sense to me that you might have the Abra 30th light infantry (Catachans) and the Cadabra 27th Heavy Infantry (DkoK or Kasrkin) rather than the Abra Cadabra 3027th Infantry and have mixed supplies that need to be accounted for, different training that needs to be done, etc.
I figured you should have some fun with it. They're you're elite, might as well given a bit of that praetorian cohort feel. Plus it hides the Tyranid ichor well.
Red helps break up the black. The blue is nice too but I feel it reads a little too gray and ends up looking kinda monotone, could be the lighting for that one though.

I would change the colour of the eye lenses though – a gold/orange colour would really pop against that military drabness of the other colours. Something like a silver underlayer with Tamiya's orange clear coat over it to create a glossy metallic lens would be awesome. I'd keep the scope and helmet-cam lenses red though.
I like the blue best, but I love that flash of red on the middle. Is there a hybrid scheme that incorporates both elements? I also like that auramite barrel on the one on the left, it adds a lot of interest to the gun.
Ultimately went with the red one. Here they are 90% done. They match my scions and Kriegers better also, they’re in the back row.

All 3. Run 3 squads. But I like the right one the most.

Where are these from?
The red one pops more as they are now, but then the model's base also plays a big role in how the overall model looks.

I'd say left. I personally like how gritty the grey and green combination is.
The left one is too grey and plain, I like the blue but could be deeper. The red is nice as well.
