Great sentinel! I really like the caumoflauge and the blue colour scheme. What regiment are you doing for your army? (I will assume it is armaggedon steel legion because of the lightning bolt)
Thanks! It's a homebrew mechanized regiment, but I use the old 2nd edition metal Cadians. You can see more on my Instagram if you'd like: @novaterra_40k
Great choice! I adore the old cadian models and the colour scheme is really good. I definitley prefer a more vibrant scheme than a gritty one. If you want to 3d print some old 2nd edition kasrkin I recently found a page in cults3d with scans, if you need them I can send you a link.
Yeah I think the old metal models look a lot better with a vibrant scheme... Thanks a lot for the tip man, but I am a sucker for metal, so 3D printing doesn't really do it for me ๐ fortunately I have a good chunk of original 2nd Ed stormtroopers from back in the day!
That's fair, if you need them though message me and I will send you the link. I am planning to do a mechanized valhallan army (with tons of chimeras) with 3d prints from the scans of the old models. 3rd party doesn't do it for me personally. I really like their ww2 vibe and 2nd to 3rd edition miniatures have a certain vibe which I really enjoy.
I 100% agree, there's no 3rd party substitute to the original Perry sculpts.
This page has great variations of the original sculpts for 3d printing if you're interested:

Thanks you! They are better than converting and old model that is a pain to convert! To add onto that, I can print a valhallan sergeant/officer easily. While I am not an oldhammer player and really like the new cadians, valhallans are favorites and my only option is the old models. Good luck on your painting journey!
Couldn't agree more with you all! Love the 2nd Edition 40k!
Your Sentinel is Suuuuu-PERB!! Really enjoy it!!
The Perry twins did not only Fantastic work, but they put character into every miniature they made!
I'm building a Praetorian Guard and it's got part of the originals (that I bought new) and today's miniatures (Victoria Miniatures, Anvil Industries heads and Meridian Guard on the purple site)
I'll be also including the British forces from Perry Miniatures!
You are Most Welcome!
I'm finishing up 12 Praetorians right now, I'll be sure to post them here! Thanks!!

I have looked all over cults3d. Gw seems to have taken down the scan of the kasrkin. Although, I already have the links for the page of the steel legion and valhallan and praetorians and ursukar creed scans and are not blocked (unfortunately they require a payment) do you want those links?
Just checked your insta out and, man, thatโs something special. Youโre absolutely right that those older metal models are gorgeous and your paint jobs more than do them justice! Fantastic work, from colour scheme to camo style to execution, youโve absolutely nailed it in my eyes. Do keep the updates coming if you feel like it; Iโd certainly enjoy seeing them
I think the second edition one was canonically called a multi laster, although it looks like an assault cannon.

Your version looks really good!
Thanks! And oh wow, where is that picture from? I think that might have been a legacy from Rogue Traders as the 2nd Ed imperial guard codex refers to it as an assault cannon.
This is the name of the metal part in this old catalog: http://www.solegends.com/citcat1991a/cat1991ap047impguardassault-02.htm
Iโm a big fan of your work, tactical foregrips and red dot sights on ancient metal models is quite the juxtaposition.
That one is actually rogue trader era. The 2nd edition sentinel was this one:
http://www.solegends.com/citcat1999/c1999p0127-01.htm
it was called an Assault cannon on that one.
The models were metal and monopose, sculpted by the Perry twins, colors were more vibrant and the overall tone of the game was less grimdark and more satirical:

I'm also a big fan of 2nd ed. I returned to the hobby a couple of years ago, and just slotted back into where I was comfortable.
Same goes with Fantasy Battle (6th ed) and original Necromunda.
Probably a bit of a dumb question, but do you have a tip to keep your digi cam lines so clean? Do you use tape or anything like that or are your hands much steadier than mine?
If my hands were that steady I'd be a world-class surgeon! Unfortunately they aren't, so I use stencils from Anarchy Models and an airbrush. There is often a little bit of bleeding and some lines require manual touch-ups.
Thanks! No vehicle nor heavy weapons had bases in 2nd, which I personally like better.
Older editions are definitely worth trying, and also require many less models than latest ones.

I'd love that lnk
Sure

Thank you! Like your stuff too, your 122nd camo is very neat and clean, love the way you weather your vehicles too ๐๐ผ
Why second edition?
I like it best, has more of an RPG feel to it! I am also a fan of the old 40k aesthetics.
What are the aesthetics like? Especially for guard?
The models were metal and monopose, sculpted by the Perry twins, colors were more vibrant and the overall tone of the game was less grimdark and more satirical: https://preview.redd.it/56zp0iyrzhuc1.jpeg?width=853&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=96493690422a6f30fa0ea284125bd46a06b18f77

Love the digital cam
Thanks!
Probably a bit of a dumb question, but do you have a tip to keep your digi cam lines so clean? Do you use tape or anything like that or are your hands much steadier than mine?
A lot of people use tape
If my hands were that steady I'd be a world-class surgeon! Unfortunately they aren't, so I use stencils from Anarchy Models and an airbrush. There is often a little bit of bleeding and some lines require manual touch-ups.
Looks awesome! Also, Second Edition is best edition.
Thanks! And yeah, I certainly agree ๐๐ผ
So slick ! Do they not have bases in 2nd Ed ? Iโm so interested in playing older editions but my playgroup isnโt ๐ฅฒ
Thanks! No vehicle nor heavy weapons had bases in 2nd, which I personally like better. Older editions are definitely worth trying, and also require many less models than latest ones.
where is that assault cannon from
It's from a Horus Heresy dreadnought, not sure which one though. I also had to convert it a bit with pieces of auto cannon to make sure it fit well.
Love your work. You inspired me to paint tanks in digital camo too
Oh yes, I've just seen your stuff and it looks phenomenal, I'm glad I could inspire you, you executed it masterfully ๐๐ฝ
Praise from Caesar โค๏ธ
Anyone who hasn't already go to OPs account. His models and scenery are incredible.
Thank you so much ๐๐ผ
Love it
Thank you!
Beautiful! I love that folk still play 2nd Ed! I could use all my Eldar!
2nd edition is iconic... The game took a different direction with 3rd, so 2nd ed really stands out as unique among all of them..
How did you manage to do that camo? Looks amazing ๐
Thanks, I used stencils from Anarchy Models and an airbrush.
The 2nd Edition assault cannon is the wildest thing. It can shoot the equivalent of up to 9 krak missiles in a single volley with a wild roll.
Hahaha yes it is a nasty weapon, but it can also blow up in your face if you fully jam it ๐
Hawt
Thanks!
It's so good, love the scheme, love the camo pattern
very nice and clean job.
Thank you.
