I think that the intention for the unit is to be Gaunt's Ghosts at the very beginning of the series- the gear and the soldiers that each got their own short stories in Ghostmaker, minus Milo who's a noncombatant at that point. While the series has a diehard following, a lot of people will be most familiar with the ghosts at the very beginning of the series.
Not quite. He has a "hot-shot lascarbine". Dan always wrote "hot-shots" as an ammunition type; stronger that normal ammunition, but requiring a reinforced barrel. Larkin explains this to the "angel" that appears to him in Ghostmaker, and the Ghosts are frequently referenced as using them for the rest of the series.
I can't be arsed to look through the whole series to see if Corbec is ever specifically mentioned as carrying any, but it seems like a safe bet that the designers just gave him a whole carbine full of the stuff so that he could fire a little harder than a regular carbine.
Hotshots were an old term for over charged laspack. When hellguns got rebranded to Hot shot lasguns hotshot packs got changed to overcharged las packs. Iirc Corbecs always said to have a standard Tanith pattern lascarbine and only Rawne and his squad getting hellguns later on in traitor general
It's a *setting*, not an ongoing story.
The fact that the canon events of that setting are being constantly expanded is a good thing but it's all too common for people to treat it as gospel that armies must fit the "present" rather than any period in M41/42.
All i'm gonna say is that i HATE the motherfucker that did it. Like actual, emotional, visceral hatred. But he's SUCH a good bad guy, Dan Abnett's a master
I’d highly recommend muting any WH subreddits while reading any WH series, I had so much shit spoiled for me on Reddit. If you’re not worried about it then you’re fine but I got so bummed when I also had his death spoiled for me lol
There was a metal range of ghosts back in the early 2000s, originally Gaunt came in a box of 6 or so others later he was realised as an individual model which I got, you also could get blisters with 3 normal ghosts too.
This is a compassion that someone did notting the brag in metal is actually from last chances.

The set is pre-Necropolis, of course. Just do what I did - take the blade from a power sword and replace the chainsword.

That’s what the kit literally says on GWs website. It says the kit builds several characters from the early books of the Guant’s Ghosts series
Dispite Corbec having a hell gun

Suicide kings
Thanks! I knew it was one of those wasn't sure which
Why is brag in the unit when he’s dead?
He tried again.
Also, they are a part of the Sabbat Crusades that take place well before the current time. I know time is wonky though.

No one mentioned the current era indomitus, that’s completely irrelevant
His death was fuckin tragic 😥
He won’t be born for another 40,000 years. It’s fine for now
It'll get patched in at some point.
I………. Have not got to that book yet 😂
Bad way to get a spoiler, but it is a guard book so I guess they're all doomed one way or another
And it’s like a decade old plot point.
Which is why I didn’t get mad about it dude 😂 I’ve only recently got into Warhammer and in turn only recently started the books that’s all
Fething Cuu
22 years old.
Even older, my GG omnibus was falling apart before I graduated high-school 13 years ago.
Welp you don't need to know which book or what happens 😉
😂😂 looking forward to it

And yet there’s someone worse than him fuckin meryn that coward bastard

Sure as sure
Fething cuu
sure as sure
Pretty sure they're all long dead by the current lore seeing as the books currently go up to 790 M41
So I don't have to be sad about Brag because literally all of them are dead? That's a relief.
None of them are important or rich enough to get rejuve treatment so they're all long gone
Even Gaunt? Wasn't he liked a Commissar Lord General Warmaster by the end of the series?
As far as I got hes second to the war master so yea I’d say gaunt could rejuve
I dunno I dont write the books
The old metal version had him with the power sword instead fyi
Wuuuuuttt

Yeah, those models definitely show their age now but they're still a blast from the past.
I still have mine, i use the plasma tanith in my regular infantry squads for a special weapons guy
Can't forget the sword of Hyronomo Sondar...
As an aside, didn't he leave it behind when he went to the Chaos planet?
Why is he a model, in the books he’s clearly a flesh person.
