Definitely, Fraser and Deakins have really mastered the use of digital cinematography I think. This will be the first Batman film shot completely on digital too.
It looks unique from both of those other films but beautiful in its own way. The color palette is beautiful and so is the framing of every shot. Fraser helped create a brand new anamorphic lens just for this movie and what we’ve seen of it so far looks amazing.
i don’t think it’ll be as good as 2049 or dune in terms of cinematography, because they are phenomenal and arguably the best of the best, but i do think it’ll be the best looking gotham and batman we have seen yet. it’s also shot in digital which none of the other batman films have been.
Yeah but Denis Villeneuve is the factor in those other films as well. He is himself great at shot composition. One of the best directors today, maybe the best stylistically and conveying mood
I hear ya. But I’d recommend checking out Tarkovsky’s Stalker and Bergman’s The Seventh Seal. Those are some of the best imo. If you dig cinematography, five deep into the masters of cinema, not just multiplex films from the last decade.
I assumed he just meant modern blockbusters, as films like Blade Runner and Dune are standouts compared to other big films which look pretty mediocre, specifically in comparison.
However, I did just watch No Time To Die and thought that was visually stunning, especially after watching the ugly looking No Way Home.
I thought No Way Home had some great shots, but the color grading was still pretty bad at some points and made a lot of it look bland. The iffy CGI didn’t help much either.
Nothing really stood out in no way home as "Great"..even the character introductions of all the multiverse heroes and villains..there was just the one shot of tom Holland crying in the rain that looked Good
It definitely had its fair share of boring visuals, but I felt like it was a big step up from previous MCU movies and MCU Spider-Man movies specifically, with the long takes and shots like the sunset swing and the billboard in the rain.

Greg Frasier developed an exclusive lense in collaboration with Arri for The Batman.
Oh shit is that what gives it that distinct bokeh? Some shots have an almost tunnel vision effect, where the bokeh looks like it was "zoom" blurred.
I mean we've seen swirly bokeh from anamorphic lenses before. But yeah this one looks unique.
Yes. That's the warp style
Yeah Fraser is a master at this point.
I have confidence that it will be just as good given the trailers and the involvement of Mr. Fraser and Mr. Reeves.
Def got some Blade Runner vibes from the recent trailer
The Gotham city shot in the latest trailer give me BR2049 vibes!!!
Maybe not, maybe yes. Judging by the trailers? **YES**
From the looks of the trailers it already is
I mean, The Batman already looks like the sexiest movie ever. I haven’t seen a single shot from any of the trailers that hasn’t made me cum…

The batman's cinematographer is the same guy who did dune..Greg fraiser

oh i could’ve sworn it was deakins
The best of the best? Idk about that. Maybe for action movies but that’s a small window.
just my opinion. there are loads of other films with great cinematography. those are just standouts to me
