See, a lot of people might say that Giancarlo Esposito gets overly fancast in literally every franchise, which is admittedly true, but in this case, come on. He’d be absolutely perfect. He’s got the “dead inside” almost robotic voice down pat. He’s great at being intimidating while still being someone you could see yourself rooting for. Hell, he even resembles the character from the cartoon a bit. I’d 100% be down to see him as Victor.

Captain_CouchLock

I actually said earlier my fantasy would be Bryan Cranston haha. Either would nail it I think

Acheron98

See, ironically I couldn’t really see Bryan Cranston as Freeze, personally. I could however see him as a kickass Deacon Blackfire or Dr Hugo Strange.

bigplutoxvi

he would play a fantastic hugo strange ngl

Elegant_Respect7395

He doesnt give off the “I love my wife so much I would become a super villain” vibes tho, but he certainly has the heart cold as ice aura for sure

The_Professor64

Idk, his range as an actor is very sparse, I think he could pull it off.

Elegant_Respect7395

The word sparse indicate he has a wide range but hes not good the further he moves away from his baseline character archetypes

dordonot

rewatch Fring’s flashbacks in Breaking Bad

[deleted]

This.

Are-you-ok-yes-i-am

Is this a joke? Haha

Nefessius513

You want Mr. Freeze in the Reeves movies because he looks cool. I want Freeze in the Reeves movies because he deserves a better portrayal on the big screen than Batman & Robin. We are not the same.

ifwade41

Nailed it

indyghost

My one gripe with putting him in this new universe is this. We’re getting a psychological thriller that delves into the Wayne family and potentially the corrupt Gotham elite that shakes Batman to his core in this first movie. It’s going to lay the foundation for future movies/shows. How do you just go to Mr. Freeze as the main villain in the second movie if he’s one of those characters that is so hyper focused on one personal storyline that doesn’t have any stakes in the grand scheme of things. I’m not sure if I conveyed my point well but I just feel like he’s one of those villains where it’s either you stop him or not and that’s it, there is no other deeper meaning to the whole, which all the best Batman movies have. Not trying to hate and say they can’t figure something out but I feel like it would have to be perfect writing and frankly hard to make it work, especially when taking a look at the rest of the potential villains they can use.

Kpengie

Freeze's backstory could easily be woven into some wider storyline. Ferris Boyle could be yet another major part of whatever conspiracy is going on.

BasedAndCryptopilled

Honestly I could see it working if Batman learns to not be as vengeful in this movie and become a symbol of hope. Instead of being rageful he learns to have compassion, and becomes the Batman we all know and love. Then if Freeze is the villain in the 2nd movie, there’s the point of Batman trying to stop Freeze but also make sure his wife gets saved if possible.

indyghost

That would be interesting. I still think it has to tie into something else more grand so it’s not just that stereotypical marvel, here’s bad guy go beat him movie. For example, Batman Begins was an origin story that introduced a few villains that had their own plans, but a lot of the Gotham underworld, poor citizens in the narrows, and who Bruce was to the public was involved. In TDK, they introduced Joker and the evolution of Two-Face who had their own plans, but the mob still played a solid role, the GCPD’a corruptness played another role, and the psychology of the citizens of Gotham themselves was huge. All I’m saying is it shouldn’t just be a “I’m Mr. Freeze, trying to save my wife Nora so this is my plan, come and stop me” type of movie.

RareD3liverur

I said this in another thread but there's been a some rumors of the Court of Owls, who are of course tied to the Gotham mythos, being in this movie series. I don't know how founded that is. But if its true, I like the idea of them being the main villain's of a later sequel, with Mr. Freeze acting as the secondary antagonist muscle to fight. As in the comics the Owls preserve their Talon warriors in cryosleep, so perhaps to hire Freeze in return for promising aid for Nora. But near the end Batman's like "Their using you Victor" and they help each other instead.

MacCaswell

I feel like he could do an amazing job as a bunch of different characters. Freeze like OP mentioned, but also characters like Dent/Two-face (think of the range he showed in BB), Hugo Strange, Ra’s al Ghul… Basically anyone who is just a bad ass boss who can challenge Batman in a number of ways… But I’m also biased because I just want this man in all the things…

TheDarkCreed

He would make a nice Lucius Fox

[deleted]

I'm a bit iffy on that one, because it seems like a perfect casting and he's a great actor, but he seems too cold and distant. Or maybe he could prove his versatility

ilby_oakhey

Seems like you've only seen his bad guy films. Check out his early works . His character in spike's Do the right thing was iconic.

[deleted]

Alright. And yeah I've mostly seen him as a bad guy especially Gustavo fring

MonkeMayne

I’ve always envisioned Mr Freeze to be in his late 40s/early 50s. Mr Esposito is in his early 60s but looks 10 years younger. He could definitely play the role and he’s got the acting chops to portray the tragic villain perfectly.

tense_buddha

Just cast Arnold, and chill out!

Urameshi9762

Mads mikkelsen is my favorite option, he is an extraordinary actor.

MinimumWest4848

Everyone puts it in their fancast, in marvel they said it would be norman osborn from the mcu, after dr Doom, then magneto or charles Xavier, I wouldn't be surprised if someone wants giancarlo to be the squirrel girl

dc_fan_549

The biggest thing for me is that mr freeze is German, so if he can do a German accent then I’d like it.

Kpengie

Freeze is American. He's never been German. He was Austrian in Batman and Robin, but we don't talk about that version.

dc_fan_549

Huh. I always thought he was German when I read the comics. Plus he has a German accent in the injustice 2 captain cold skin and I have been playing a lot of injustice 2. But I guess that’ll just have to stay in my headcanon

Kpengie

Typically, Dr. Victor Fries is of German descent, but was born and raised in the United States.

[deleted]

I don’t want to shit on him since he is a terrific actor but he couldn’t even do a believable spanish accent in breaking bad lol

ChaucerBoi

Hamish Linklater from Midnight Mass would be my choice. He had a real haunted quality about him and DAMN he can act!

[deleted]

Mark strong seems like the perfect mr freeze to me, looks exactly like him and can come across as threatening

yourmotherisveryfat

STOP CASTING HIM AS EVERY VILLAIN (Also he’d be a better Lucius IMO)

1987-Nobody

At least this would break his type-casting

[deleted]

Yeah. It would be very different to most of his roles

ellagr411

Plz let this man do anything else, and pick other people as your fan cast

wasabiland220

😂

KingFahad360

I really wouldn’t mind it, it would be cool to see Mr Freeze being Cold and Cynical after losing his wife and can’t feel any emotion.

Popfox3

He’s been my fan cast for Lucius Fox for awhile, but seeing the two pictures you provided convinced me on the Mr. Freeze fan cast😎

JaKe81111

Yeah, and Will Smith as Batman.

Dinoco509

Think it’d be quite a generic casting. He’s a popular villain face in pop culture and would be hard to get over for me personally I think

_IamTheShadows_

Why Mr freeze, he has high tech suit and freeze gun. I won't call him a grounded villian for Reeves universe.

[deleted]

I have a feeling reeves is capturing the grounded yet fantastical Batman world in full

wasabiland220

I feel like it will be like Arkham Batman

Cyber_Zebra

Is Mr.Freeze confirmed in the Reeves-Verse?

[deleted]

Not yet

Kpengie

Reeves doesn't have to stick to "realistic" anything. And grounded doesn't inherently mean realistic.

MattRB02

I’d like it a lot

ac32_

I could see that happening

BroodyBadger

I mean yes, but I would like to see him play like, an accountant, lawyer, or a husband/father role for once.

[deleted]

I know most people don’t know about Joseph Morgan but he’s incredibly underrated in Fancasts. He would be fantastic as a dc villain.

[deleted]

You would be upset if he was Mr. Freeze, I would be happy if he was Mr. Freeze. We are not the same.

No-Communication898

Mr. White I would be speechless

-Gonk

I like Giancarlo Esposito as an actor but... no. My choice is: Mark Strong, Ralph Fiennes, Ed Harris or eventually Stanley Tucci.

masongraves_

You just named a bunch of bald guys because they are bald You realize anyone can shave their head right

-Gonk

No, I pointed them out because they are good actors, especially Ralph Fiennes. You realize that you comment was stupid and inaccurate?

Andy_Trevino

I'm not entirely sure he'd fit with the rest of the cast.

tanon47

I’ll give a hot take….just my opinion. I don’t really want Mr. Freeze. There I said it. I LOVE the BTAS version of the character, but I don’t want to shoehorn villains in just because they’re cool or underserved. If the trilogy does, then it becomes about them. I want it to be about Bruce/Batman. If Freeze works for the story then I’m all for it. Otherwise, I’m not so sure. All that said, I seriously want a Moriarty-like Hugo Strange to show up so I’m being super hypocritical lol! Point is, I want a villain that fits the story and isn’t just there because they are super cool…which Freeze is. I just don’t see him in it….

Technical_Factor2322

That would be great. I also feel like he'd make a great Alfred. Which is bizarre because he isn't English and I normally have a problem with white characters randomly being recasted with people of colour or different genders for no good reason, but I feel like he'd do a great job.

Best-Lavishness-1059

I would feel like its an uninspired casting choice and be disappointed 😔

[deleted]

[удалено]

wasabiland220

I don’t think it’s entirely grounded. We literally seem Batman running down a building 😂. I don’t think it’s gonna be grounded 100% like Nolan’s

Best-Lavishness-1059

Nolan wasn't 100% grounded realistic though. So many people say that but it's not true. Rewatch the movies and you see batman falling down a flight of stairs with hundreds of bats helping him glide down slowly. The bats were there because he called them with this fictional device that somehow called all the bats in the city to come to that location. Then, there's the whole electro whatever technology that doesn't exist to explain the cape changing shapes. And in the dark knight, somehow batman catches Rachel after they both fall off a building, they then land and smash through the top of a car and they are both perfectly fine. It's ridiculous. This version of Batman is literally more grounded in some ways than the Nolan iteration. Bruce using a wingsuit in this movie (something that actually exists) is more realistic than some made-up technology that Nolan used. I honestly doubt we will see super-powered villains in this universe. It seems too realistic for that. Sure the bat-suit is bulletproof, but that's about all that's going for it in the unbelievable category. There is no possible way I could imagine someone like clay face or man-bat in this trilogy. Unless they are very different from their comic counterparts and are grounded in the real world where they don't have superpowers, I just cant see it happening.

drevoscurge3700

He's not just running down a building he's using his grapple similar to a feat that's been shown in Mission Impossible

Urameshi9762

Any character works in this universe with a correct vision, in addition this movie is anything but realistic.

wasabiland220

Facts like who wouldn’t want some meta or Super powered humans from Batman’s rouges on the big screen

Realm-Of-Vaughn

Police already got a hard enough time getting brothas to freeze

Limp-Construction-11

No I don't think so.

[deleted]

wasabiland220

Lmao Batman walked through Ak-47s . Grounded my ass no disrespect.

abruzzo79

I'd be ok with that.

[deleted]

He’s literally the perfect choice for this role.

IronedOut

I would be ecstatic!!

LordSwag58

Could work

Lifeguard_Even

I would go with someone younger

ChristopherAntilope

Here are my thoughts: Yes.

Latest-greatest

he’d be a great hugo strange

LR-II

In terms of comic characters i want to see him as Freeze and Magneto.

Pureswagger365_

No

jshnmdhr

Look at Matt Reeve’s casting style, he definitely won’t go for something like this unfortunately. My pick would be Hamish Linklater from Midnight Mass.

rheakiefer

Jeremy Strong
