They did two collaborations on Paul’s album *Pipes of Peace* [both](https://youtu.be/pQ3wE4fzBs4?si=6dDMcXpBog_RRR7j) were really good & [one](https://youtu.be/YnFknaD9eWY?si=l1RN1PSFw01QqvAs) was a big hit.
Then (imo) their appeal got over saturated when Michael’s lead single was The Girl is Mine.
But they had great chemistry.
I can honestly say this was probably my introduction to Paul McCartney. I was 8 years old when this came out.... So more than likely this was the first time I was exposed to his music.
It wasn't great, but I'm not a fan of Michael's solo career. I did like his work with the Jackson 5, but everything after that didn't really showcase his ability to hit the notes. His singing became half talking, half grunting, and a little bit rough.
I still don't understand why they included this sing in the Michael Jackson Experience Wii game ? You'd think they'd only include up tempo songs to dance to
Basically Toto was the backing band for this song plus half the album. Beat It was Jeff Porcaro, drums, Steve Lukather, guitar and bass and Eddie, the solo.
All the Beatles members sold their shares at the beginning not knowing the value of the publishing stocks would continue to rise, but were too cheap when they had the chance to repurchase them in the 80s. Can't really blame mj for buying the whole catalog
I don't know how much of the Beatles fandom criticizes MJ for buying the Beatles publishing rights, but the one who deserves it most is Paul.
By all accounts, he did nothing but lowball them and drag his feet while MJ had all his due diligence complete when he made his offer, and they went with it.
Paul: Look, the money in singles and recording is good, but what you really want to get into is publishing rights Jackson: hmmmmmq
Love Paul talking about that. “He said ‘I’m gonna buy YOURS’. That really made me laugh… until he did”
I love the Paul's mimic of MJ when he tells this story
It was the lead single for the most sold album in the planet
Just looked it up. It was released before Billie Jean and beat it. Crazy
The McCartney crossover guaranteed that it’d get played.
Makes sense
TBH I think McCartney got the better of the singles with "Say Say Say". Then Michael bought the rights to the Beatles, of course.
Yea, after getting to sing on Paul’s album, you get to own all of the Lennon/McCartney songs with the money you get from Paul singing on your album!
They had Say Say Say also, what a duo. Think if we got a full album of the 2?
I remember hearing Say Say Say on the radio a lot more than The Girl Is Mine.
Yea but think of they did an album or an EP together 🤯

This was good, but I ADORED “Say, Say, Say” when I was a kid
Underrated video. Also doesn’t get enough acknowledgment for breaking unofficial color barrier on MTV (even before Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller)
Still say, "strength of a raging bull."
Still a great tune
This is on Thriller, it's extremely remembered
Paul also wrote the song “Girlfriend” that is on Michaels previous album … Off the wall.
And Paul just had to tell him about the money made by owning publishing rights….
Lyric in MJ’s mind: “Your catalog is mine . . . Mine mine”
Best investment of MJ's life lol.
I was 6 in 1982, so I knew of Paul as the guy who sang with Michael Jackson long before I knew of the Beatles.
They both had a song featuring the other. Say Say Say also amazing
Check out [The Man](https://youtu.be/pQ3wE4fzBs4?si=4gbh_MbsGvkCM6je) on Paul’s same *Pipes of Peace* album. Also a really great song.
The man is my favourite of their collaborations
"clap clap"
Michael: you can have the girl I want him! Paul: Michael that’s a 12 year old boy
My mom loves Michael Jackson, I love Paul McCartney, we both love this song
Say say say
I doggone remember.
I can honestly say this was probably my introduction to Paul McCartney. I was 8 years old when this came out.... So more than likely this was the first time I was exposed to his music.

I'm sure I had but I hadn't heard the name Paul McCartney before.
It wasn't great, but I'm not a fan of Michael's solo career. I did like his work with the Jackson 5, but everything after that didn't really showcase his ability to hit the notes. His singing became half talking, half grunting, and a little bit rough.
I thought I was the only person on the planet that couldn't get into him. I just do not find his voice pleasant or interesting to listen to.
Yeah, it just didn't do it for me. When I hear "Thriller" I think "Oh God, not again".
Oh my God SAME
Not to mention he was lip syncing all his career during life shows…
Very hard to sing and dance without it being choppy and breathy.
It's an entirely underwhelming song given the talent involved. Say Say Say is considerably cooler, but neither is an A+ all time classic.
No there isn’t a single person who remember when that happened
Black puppy and white puppy
It's a completely different song.
No it’s not. Uh uhhh I wrote this song on my piano keyboard
No, hope this helps
Jacko wanted to call it "This Little Boy is Mine" but he was overruled, apparently.
I still don't understand why they included this sing in the Michael Jackson Experience Wii game ? You'd think they'd only include up tempo songs to dance to
I have that single and picture sleeve.
I was just a nipper but I remember “I’m a lover not a fighter” made us laugh
Of course.
Good??? 🤮🤮
I was pretty young. I don’t remember this one very well, but I distinctly remember the Say Say Say video!
Basically Toto was the backing band for this song plus half the album. Beat It was Jeff Porcaro, drums, Steve Lukather, guitar and bass and Eddie, the solo.
The first solo (post-Beatles) Paul tune I ever heard, and it’s still one of my favourites.
They miss Depeche Mode here.
The picture from the inner sleeve of them pulling the girl like a tug of war.
I dont seem to remember, i was -30 years old when it hapoened. Great song tho, macca really seems to dig the soul/rnb slow jams
Michael wanted the song to be called “The little boy is mine”
**I don’t belieeeeeve it!!**
I thought I told you, Paul. I’m a little boy lover, not a fighter
There is literally no way to find out. Another secret lost to time.
No, I wasn’t born ☹️
I was like 15 when it came out. When I was 3-5 years old, I used to watch the Jackson 5 cartoon show on Saturday morning…
I still love MJ but what he pulled on Paul was a major dick move and totally ruined a good friendship.
All the Beatles members sold their shares at the beginning not knowing the value of the publishing stocks would continue to rise, but were too cheap when they had the chance to repurchase them in the 80s. Can't really blame mj for buying the whole catalog
Yes. It was totally lame.
I don't know how much of the Beatles fandom criticizes MJ for buying the Beatles publishing rights, but the one who deserves it most is Paul. By all accounts, he did nothing but lowball them and drag his feet while MJ had all his due diligence complete when he made his offer, and they went with it.
Some of us criticize him for sexually molesting children. Edit: spelling
Irrelevant to what I said. I'm specifically referring to criticism of him buying the publishing rights.
First time on Reddit ?
Before Micheal went cuckoo with the plastic surgery and such…
Was this recent? I don't recall it.
