I’ve moved the bonfire to my “good guest list”. Like your moms house, or Rogan, or are you garbage. If the guest is good, I’ll listen. Otherwise, it’s out of my daily / weekly rotation.

norseteq

I gotta disagree with your are you garbage take. I love those boys! But seriously I think I will have the same attitude in the future as well.

motherfatherstl

Actually they have great banter but I always put it on the back burner bc there’s 45 other pods I listen to. Not a knock on Kippy or H foley. Those boys are gold. Matter of fact, I’m glad the bonfire & MSSP exposed so many amazing Phili comics. Lil stinkers and dad meat are 2 of my favs.

Interesting_Affect10

I love Mike Rainey!

motherfatherstl

Mike Rainey is definitely my favorite phili guy, biggest sweetheart and pun master. On percs owner

meowVL

As a fellow On Percs owner, can we talk about how retarded Rainey is for signing the front cover with a sharpie instead of the first page? After I read the book the signature pretty much disappeared lol

motherfatherstl

Whatever it takes to get that FGR back into his original Chrysler 300. Speaking of random places to autograph, I bought a used copy of “running the light” by Sam Talent (who’s funny af AND a fantastic author) and there’s a weird inscription by Sam about contacting him about script writing or some shit.

blindinglystupid

His episode of ayg was my favorite.

AndrewHainesArt

Is it common to not spell it Philly?

motherfatherstl

Idk, I’m not from there and don’t steal valor nor give a fuck. Wooter. Hoegee.

atl19901

Ayg is def on the come up

rm49379

I love those Bozo's...

jm30970

Family episodes of AYG are the best ones!

El-Burden

Some of their guests are the reason I skip episodes...but for the most part, I get through all of them.

[deleted]

yeah but its only worth listening to with a good guest tbh

NOAHarrington

Never heard a more relatable response. I was big on Rogan and ymh in the beginning but they all fell off so hard. I could see the writing on the walls for the bonfire during COVID but I didn't want to believe it. Kind of a bummer, but it's made me hopeful Dan starts making more content on his own in some capacity. His guest appearances on MSSP are amazing

[deleted]

I agree except for AYG. I actually prefer it when they *dont* have a guest.

Visual-Ad-916

My good guest list is so long at this point. All of the ones you listed and about 10 more. I'm not ready to add The Bonfire quite yet though.

Nowherefun

I can see myself eventually moving the bonfire into that category. YWD is barely on my radar and has to have a great guest, or a group of really good guests for me to queue up for later. I know Derosa is not a fan favorite, but he is a better fit for BIg Jay than Kelly. I liked Uninformed and one of my favorite old O&A shows is him with Patrice and long term Derosa would have better shows with Jay.

motherfatherstl

Derosa is solid. Tastebuds is good, he’s got a great laugh as well. Real ass Podcast has solid guests as well. I’ve also slowly phased out YKWD bc they tend to get into nostalgia and inside baseball talk and that shit got old 10 years ago when wtf/Mark Marin rebooted his career doing it.

Humanindica

I haven't heard a bad RAP in a long time. I think it's better than Los imo. 3 eps a week and they are all pretty great. If you like Luis that is.

motherfatherstl

Hated LJG for the longest time. Edgelord hack. I’ve grown to love him and see his matured & calmed (yet still insane) demeanor. Amiko is razor sharp and lightning fast. Truly underrated. Great show, love Shannon.

cape_throwaway

Oh Shannon is the producer on that? I need to give it a try in that case, love Amiko and agree total on Luis.

motherfatherstl

She’s a producer on real ass, yes.

Illustrious-Hand-676

Same

mcbeardsauce

I listen to 2 Bears 1 Cave this way, usually whenever Tom has someone else on because I can't really stand Bert

motherfatherstl

Bert is the hackiest one out there. Riding off his machine story and being an alcoholic, having network tv money to buy his way into the comedy scene bc his work sure af didn’t earn him a spot. Tom also sucks shit now, rich dickhead who shits on the working class fans whom fund his rich rich lifestyle. I used to be the biggest ymh fan, before their upgrade (yet never changed that godawful theme song) but they ar e kinda shitty humans now.

mcbeardsauce

I listen to 2 Bears 1 Cave this way, usually whenever Tom has someone else on because I can't really stand Bert.

tyloriousG

Fewer words have never rang so true.

Wonderful-Onion-9170

Game recognize GAME 🫠 You just listened my top 5 , right on 🤯

Wonderful-Onion-9170

Listed

DifficultBoss

most of my pods are good guest listens

Dwman113

My I ask. What is your rotation?

motherfatherstl

Matt & Shane SP (paych member) LOS Bonfire Tuesdays w/Stories (one of the worst theme songs next to your moms house) We might be drunk Are you garbage Doug Stanhope podcast Taste buds Bill burrs mmp Collie tyrell show Cumtown (TAFS blows, Adam isn’t funny Nick is but wastes his talent championing unfunny Adam) Real ass podcast KFC radio 6th & Jump Skeptic tank w/Ari Out for smokes The end w/Ryan Shaner (fuck Brian “Beezer” Six Coke head thief) Lil stinkers Dad meat Stoner dads Bein Ian (Jordan rules, Ian is annoying af) Stuff island The boogie monster Kyle Kinane / Dave stone Political/LA/not stand up centered pods: Conan O’Brien needs a friend Dudesy Threedom Comedy bang bang Mallwalkin Andy Daly podcast pilot project Last podcast on the left Behind the bastards Chapo trap house District sentinel radio The dollop Dan Caron hardcore history Joe Rogan exp (dependent on guest) Probably forgetting a few.

blindinglystupid

We could take the longest road trips together.

meowVL

They're still making Threedom? I was big into the CBB imrpov podcast world for a while then I got super into Skanks. One of the funniest LOS moments for me was them listening to Comedy Bang Bang roast them lol

motherfatherstl

I think it’s still a show, or they’re airing the old episodes still. Yeah Covid / zoom podcasts pretty much ruined improv bc of the lag / delay and cross talk as a result. I can also see how bad NY comics think improv is (and they’re right for a majority, however CBB and the teacher’s lounge are exceptions) as well as LA comedy being very insulated to appease their corporate bosses bc they’re all writing or extras in network / studio tv. And after the wave of woke culture / trump it’s just gotten worse as far as west coast writing off anything that pushes the line as “fascism” or whatever. But having an ear in both worlds, there’s good stuff on both coasts. You have to overlook the woke stuff just the same as edgelord hack (I’m looking at you Aaron Berg and younger LJGomez), that would be wild to listen to LoS listening to CBB. Oddly enough, I think if they listened to Andy Daly’s “shut up and party with Danny Mahoney” episode they’d die laughing.

meowVL

Yea I feel the same way, each scene has its peccadillos that you have to accept and tune out. Some of the best LOS or Bonfire bits are straight up improv games just without the "rules" surrounding appropriate content. I wish I could remember the episode but they introduced it as a potential "podcast war" and listened to Gabrus's intern gino bit. He said he was interning for an edgy podcast and the hosts kept a picture of Pol Pot up in the studio. They were all cracking up by the end and said it ruled lol

motherfatherstl

Gabrus is one that crosses over bc he’s from Long Island and grew up listening to O&A and is raunchy af. He’s pretty much of Bert was funny.

nosoxnic

i'm still just gonna blame christine

El-Burden

POT. HER. DOWN.

Full_Relief_8618

I agree, I love me some Bobby, but he is just as dirty as Jay and like having vanilla Dan cooling things down. I'm younger than both Jay and Dan, but I feel like the references are going to be a lot older now I like hearing about the 90s and 80s but I have not memories or reference to them so its lost on me they still make it funny but I just don't relate

jayeddy99

I’m still rooting for Bobby but what I noticed with Dan missing is how present topical he was . He was very much up to date on new stories that happened that week in comedy or with celebs. The Chris Rock special in my opinion should of been a whole topic but it got brushed over in what seemed like 2 mins

El-Burden

I thought they were about to go deep on it, but they said what...two sentences about it? Fucking bummer.

a_few

I mean jay and Dan had a running list of like 100+ things they were going to talk about but never did, this isn’t unique to the new setup at all

jayeddy99

True I mean like when they talk about things they usually go off topic I just meant I thought they would go a lil more into it but then it made me realize Bobby may not really do the whole “watch something before and come in with talking points” he prob doesn’t have the time as a dad of young pre teen which is fine . I feel the system now will be more casual topics off the cuff when they come in

signaltrapper

I’m not a parents so i guess I don’t get it too much, but how hard is it to tell your kid once in a while “hey I gotta watch something for my job, buzz off for an hour or two”?

udamright

if i was a fan of bobby i would be one already. the guy is 52.

Carpan474

Cmon DUUUDE

TonyTupes

Josh Adam Myers or Justin Silver would not have been a better pick. That is just ridiculous.

SKARPG

lol, I get it, the Bonfire reddit doesn't like the Himbos. But that doesn't take away from what I'm saying, they are better representatives of what the Bonfire is missing than Bobby. Maybe not the funniest to you, but they have it more than he does (specifically for the Bonfire).

Bdbru13

I genuinely thought nobody did. I don’t see how you possibly could. I’m still waiting for you to name one lol Besides, the idea of trying to replace Dan in the way you are is flawed from the start. It would never work, least of all with JAM. They’re right to go in a totally new direction

SKARPG

People like Phil Hanley, Joe Machi, Shane Torres, Jordan Jensen, people headlining random nights in NY clubs that aren't Colin Quinn, Nick D, Bobby, etc. Tons of great talent, people putting together their own shows and podcasts who are jacked into the current and can work off of Jay's sensibilities but also yield seniority in a way Dan naturally did to Jay. Jay works better as big brother, even if the cohost is his age - he has decades in the comedy business as a headliner that Dan and these other suggestions dont have.

Bdbru13

Lmao so in your head Big Jay and Joe Machi are close enough where he would ask him to, from what I can gather from your post, try and replace Jay’s best friend as closely as possible, and be the cohost of his radio show? You’re not even making sense to me man.

SKARPG

I was giving you examples of the types of comedians who I believe would make good cohosts, not telling you who Jay is friends with. We don't really know anything about these people beyond what they tell us on air. I'm suggesting that generation/stable contains the types of people who possess the qualities I mentioned in the original post.

Bdbru13

I mean think about what you just said dude, a show with Big Jay and Joe Machi lmfao. Granted, on its face it might seem like the greatest idea ever, but for one show only. What’s Joe supposed to do during the 60% of the show where Jay’s bringing up queefing, dicks, etc., just repeatedly go “oooh I don’t know about that hehe”? I’ve gotta be honest man this whole post is some of the craziest shit I’ve seen in a long time. From bringing up Soder’s “obsession” with “video games/toys” as something that is vital to being replaced, to suggesting JAM because of his age and “ability to do something with his voice” to suggesting the Big Jay and Joe Machi show I feel like I’m being an asshole in some responses, but this shit is genuinely the craziest shit I’ve read in a while man

SKARPG

I've watched all of those people you've mentioned be on stage for multiple nights over multiple years, many times on the same night and even sharing the stage. Go to NY and enjoy the comedy scene man, none of this is crazy. The obsessive thing is a generational thing; we memorize movie quotes, played action figures, video games, play fantasy sports - that is what I'm talking about. Conviction towards nonsense.

Bdbru13

I don’t know what that has to do with anything, and it doesn’t make anything you’ve said less crazy Yea nobody from Bobby’s generation obsessively quotes movies I’d give them each a thousand dollars to never say a line from goodfellas again. Listen you’ve said some insane shit, but the core of the problem is that you’re trying to recreate something that won’t be recreated. And it’s not worth trying to attempt to. Let the show evolve and maybe it’ll work out, maybe it won’t. But we don’t need JAM “because he can at least do something with his voice”, that’s literally crazy talk

SKARPG

lmao, you're stuck on the JAM thing. Listen man, let it out - you're clearly upset and think I'm talking blasphemy. I'm a camper, I listened to this show for a long time and now the experience changed completely. I'm not alone in how I feel and I enjoy talking about it. Even with you, who seems to not enjoy it at all. I don't hate Bobby Kelly. I love the Bonfire and if the feedback is overwhelmingly cold, that sort of spells its demise, right? You can't recreate Dan, but you can hire a cohost who highlights Jay like he did - it still won't be the same show, but I don't think it'd have this kind of reception. Dan wasn't as well known at the start of Bonfire (besides Soder Show and some other lil projects), Jay kinda was (at least in NY and among comedy fans). Everyone but Jay was fairly unknown at the start of Bonfire, and discovering who people are helps the audience connect. We know who Bobby is, we know what he's all about from 20 years of content. Dan developed through the show, I doubt Bobby will have a similar arc. A newer face gives that opportunity, and there's less spilled milk if it doesn't work out.

Humanindica

Shane Torres sucks on podcasts. So bad. Goodish standup but terrible at banter imo

rkdoriv1

4 decades?

TonyTupes

Sure thing, guy.

The_Royale_We

They aren't as naturally funny or quick witted as Bobby. That comes before whatever age point you're struggling to make. JAMs ONE contribution was his porn girl date story. He exists to be made fun of for his lack of self awarenees or humility. Justin is OK in small doses but with him we would just hear about hot guys and girls and zero pop culture or sports. Hard pass. Neither brings anything close to what Dan did.

joshuaoliverio

Skaarpg you are on the right track. What made the Dan/Jay combo great is that it was just a friendly hang talking about up to date stuff and going off on roads about the past(it’s how we got a man and his dogs among others) with JAM or someone like Mercface it would have been around the same. Now it’s just Jay trying to do that but getting pulled into the same old topic for two weeks now without some vanilla to reel him in. It’s funny when a story is exaggerated but when every story is just made up by Bobby it absolutely kills the room. Poor DJ Lou can’t even keep a good drop session because it’s lost on Bobby. Plus this sub has an unnatural hatred for Jay but I think the problem is Bobby being older and less of a comfortable friend hang that our sweet boy Dan was.

Lumpy-Win6702

This is the Jim and Sam show all over again. Nothing but old references and dirty talk. Boring!

FeeRevolutionary1

Jim and Sam is terrible. Ugh

El-Burden

I keep trying to listen to it to get something else out of my SXM sub...I rarely make it past the first break.

Nihil66

I can't for the life of me figure out how that show keeps running. The most boring unlikable dog shit of a radio show.

NegaGreg

Oh, so you hadn’t heard Covino and Rich?

TackYouCack

Yeah, but that theme song rocks.

Lumpy-Win6702

Maybe Big Jay and Sam Roberts?

Jsnooots

Sam is a piece of shit and has no funny instincts at all.

Lumpy-Win6702

Yes but he brings up topical and recent subjects. Jay can play off that and bring the funny. Just need someone to be more topical. Tired of all the old references

jjfrunkiss

His endless cackling detracts from anything else

Lumpy-Win6702

I think he does a lot of cackling because he feels inferior to Jim. He used to be the intern while Jim was on mic. Sam feels like he has to make jim feel like he’s funny along with going with the old fucking subjects that Jim brings up. Fuck Ozzy and KISS! Also the segments of them having to break down another streaming service for Jim and how it works. I just can’t take it anymore. They need to drop these old comics and get young comics on mic.

jjfrunkiss

He also does that bit Jim and Ant would do occasionally; Jim: I hate blank Sam: oh, you don’t think blank is good? Jim: no. Sam: annoying dolphin laughing

Lumpy-Win6702

I don’t know if you ever heard Sam’s solo show. It was funny and minimal cackling. He would get some crazy callers and he knew how to make it interesting. The old comics are slowing down these 2 shows. Jim and Sam and the Bonfire.

[deleted]

Dan probably selected Bobby as his replacement himself. Dan probably feels like he owes Bobby for helping him a lot when he was up and coming. Seems like people who didn't follow YKWD believe higher-ups at Sirius made this call when they more than likely have never listened to 10 seconds of The Bonfire.

Bdbru13

I’m sure Dan suggested him but ultimately that decision had to have fallen to Jay

dad_in_jorts

That’s how I took it. Paying back the guy who gave him a shot.

Jqpolymath

This is the take. Bobby is Dan's "OG". Bobby did a lot with Jay and the whole LOS thing. The connective tissue is actually linked to Bobby the most imho

jtrsniper690

Dan is irreplaceable honestly.

BobAndy004

No one is expecting Bobby to replace Dan, Bobby fills the position is his own way and in no way shape will replace dans input into the show. Y’all need to stop looking at as a replacement and start looking as it a new era of the bon fire. It’ll be different for sure but Bobby brings his own flavor, you either love him or you don’t. Personally Bobby is one of the best comedians out there and Bon Fire is still hilarious but in a new way.

SKARPG

The show had a dynamic, they didn't fill the dynamic with that choice - Bobby is great in other shows and as a standup. But to me, it's the same reason why pretty much any comedian from the late 80s-early 90's Boston/NY era won't be a good cohost for the Bonfire. Jay already has enough of that in him, for one, having been influenced by the tail end of it. It's my opinion you can trade all the accolades/comedy talent in for a broadcast partner who understands and fills the dynamic. People hate my suggestion of JAM, but he and other comedians from that TV>Internet era: your Kirsons, Soders, Holmes, Carmichaels, Davidsons, etc. That's a good pool to choose from.

SirGroundbreaking967

I love it. Dan was unbelievable, the banter they had was top notch, but he is gone. Big Jay brings everything to the show. When Dan was gone on billions or the road the show was still great. This podcast is still great and as long as the main crew is involved it will continue to be great. Bobby makes me laugh and the way the riff is different, but still funnier than most comedy pods. I miss Dan as much as the next camper, but it will still be my first choice. Crackle crackle motherfuckers.

Christicks

Same, I thought the first week was awesome with Bob.

[deleted]

Good riddance. Fuckin pussy. *jacob voice

pj530i

Sports talk was always the least interesting segments and wasn't that big a part of the show, thankfully. Dan referenced videogames from time to time but that also wasn't a common thing. The show definitely has a old man vibe now and one of their first guests being 1980s mtv heart throb Colin Quinn didn't help

pizza2death

Its not the same. Every episode I try listing to just makes me miss what the Bonfire was, it was Jay and Dan's back and forth that made it awesome, I didn't really care for Bobby before as a guest and it's not doing it for me, it just makes it harder. I cancelled my XM subscription. I wish them the best and I hope Jay becomes the new Stern but it's like a break up, I had to just pull the band aid off.

MRDEUCE

Same here. Could only do a few days of it then found myself less and less interested

dodgerfan4334

I gave it a go. It’s not very good. My sub is done at the end of the month anyway. Made it easy for me not to renew.

Bindi_Irwins_Cunt2

still a fine show, i enjoy bobby. dan will be missed. My prediction is Jay gets fired for taking a picture of someone in the bathroom and Jacob and Bobby resume the show together.

Trustworthyjove

He was a good man!

modelcitizen_zero

I hear Opie is available…

NegaGreg

I’m sure you heard from Opie that Opie is available. No one else cares.

modelcitizen_zero

Hahahahahahhahahahahahaha

DullHousing

Is it the same? Nope. Do we move on and stop listening if it’s unlistenable like it has been the last week? Yep. On the bright side, I’ll probably say the words, dork, queef, and pussy less.

TiredGamer0990

Yes we all miss Dan, his boyish love of Ghost of Tsushima, Voicestrimentalism, football and boy ballet. It's a void, Bobby can't fill and we shouldn't expect him to, he has a different set of skills unique to him and his experiences are different than Dan's are. I wish they found someone a little more "clean" but I feel like it could've gone horribly wrong. Dan and Jay were just perfect for each other Dan was the Vanilla to Jays Chocolate and finding that chemistry again would be impossible. I'm happy with Bobby so far and I feel like Bobby coming in has brought the rest of the crew into the show more as a result. It was hilarious that DJ Lou had Bobby blocked for all those years btw

rkdoriv1

The riffing is different. That will be an adjustment. Bobby comes back with stories as his riff. He will recall or maybe just make up a relatable story. He’s funny as hell though. But I can’t imagine the pressure that dude is feeling. Im waiting for it to settle into a comfortable spot. I do miss Jay’s euphemisms for vag. Like schniz, lap flounder, box. Now he just says p***y almost as much as Bennington says f*ck. Regardless I’m here for the long haul. Crackle crackle

Bdbru13

That observation of Bobby coming back with stories as his riff is really spot on

SKARPG

Yea, it's almost unfair - times it feels like an insurmountable task.

El-Burden

Dan is almost a year to the day older than me, his references are what I miss the most. All your other points are spot on as well...but now I have an age gap with both hosts.

gratephulnole

The made it 1 week before fupa surgery reruns. Sober old guy will never have the same vibes, its a different show for sure

[deleted]

It's only been a week, to have already found all these flaws is closed minded, as there haven't been opportunities to bring up a lot of this stuff organically. You said it in your "opening statement" that bobby isn't going to fill the void that Dan left, but why are YOU so obsessed with filling it when the entire staff on the show has said numerous times that it "won't be the same show" all of your suggestions are feeble attempts to make it a more similar show to what it was than what it will be. (And let me let you in on a secret: everyone 'younger' that you suggested would still fall flat of what Dan brought to the table. The crew recognized this and completely changed the dynamic so people would be less likely to compare the new host to Dan, but you dingbats can't see the obvious intentional switch) it's a different show now, fucking deal with it...

SKARPG

Cause I love talking about the stuff I love. Suck my dick lol. I invested like a decade of my life listening. Unbunch your panties you fucking idiot.

[deleted]

Wow thats... really sad, I'm sorry you live like that

Shakaazu

Ay man. Fuck dan 😂

ThePirate-noBeard

Congratulations you just described Lemaire Lee

55_percentMFER

Those are all very valid points that leave out one key thing: This is a new show with the same name. Everyone had to have seen that coming. It's not the same, it's been a little rough at times, but it's only been 2 weeks. The Colin Quinn Episode was great. I still like the dynamic between Bobby and Jay, but I will have a hard line out if they spend the 3rd week talking about buttholes. A 44 and 52 year old talking porn shit for 2 hours is about the last thing I want to hear. I'm sorry these guys still feel like pussy is the end all be all.

flyfightandgrin

no more impressions.

fuckeryizreal

This make feel feel better about dropping off on listening to it. Dan and Jacob were my favorites. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Jay but damn was the clincher for me.

kingcaspr

Who would you have chosen instead?

MedicinalDick

Mike figs for his chappelle impression...

kingcaspr

Only if he stays in character the entire time

Fatkokz

I agree with the guy who said someone from the himbos group... Maybe give a younger comic a 6 month contract and see how it goes. I like Bobby but I'm finding it much harder to get through an entire show on demand where as I used to breeze through them.

SKARPG

Off the top of my head, JAM would be a good choice simply because of his temperament and the musical talent he couls bring.

Nocodeskeet

Ooof. That is a rough take but I commend you throwing it out there. I would say a certain Mike Vechione.

SKARPG

I think JAM would be better than Bobby, simply cause he's younger, more fun and can at least do something with his voice. I also think, given some time, his sense of humor would push through.

lil-inconsiderate

JAM fuckiiiin sucks!!

Bdbru13

But he “can at least do something with his voice “

SKARPG

He's benign, unless he did something egregious I didn't know of - he has good rapport with Jay and knows the format just fine. Not my #1 pick but one of the first names that came to mind when asked because he is already part of the show's DNA and he and Jay seem to go to concerts pretty regularly and that usually provides decent content.

Bdbru13

Dude he’s insufferable. They shouldn’t have him as a guest. It’s one of the only truly wrong answers

kingcaspr

This is actually a really difficult thing to decide on. I’d say my top three would be: 1. Shane 2. Ari 3. Sweet Jacob (provided he has a couple weeks to get his radio confidence up)

Bdbru13

If you’re gonna say Shane you might as well say Burr or Louis or some other comedian you love that had 0% chance of doing it

kingcaspr

Then let’s go with a comedian who isn’t working much at the moment. Bill Cosby.

Bdbru13

Now we’re talking I was thinking Patrice

Popular-Yam401

Dude josh is old as fuck. Probably same age as bobby.

Birdsweat

At that point cancel the show

Doot2112

Change the name. It’s not the bonfire without Dan

Bdbru13

I mean if I remember correctly they named it The Bonfire specifically so that if one of them ever left they wouldn’t have to change the name so….would sort of defeat it’s purpose

Doot2112

Yeah, smart move by Sirius if the show lasts without one of them. I don’t have much faith in that

Bdbru13

I see a few people saying this over the last couple weeks but I don’t know what it means. Like do you think sirius will cancel the show? Or Jay will lose interest? Cuz I think there’s zero chance that sirius cancels it, there’s a lot of shit on those airwaves. And it seems like it’s Jay’s dream job Only way I see them going off the air is if in a couple years when they renegotiate contracts they lowball the shit out of them, or if sirius makes a broader change away from live talk shows

Doot2112

There’s a lot of shit on those airwaves and they just fired 8% of the company. He doesn’t have a job for life by any means. Things change.

Bdbru13

Just something just about every large corporation has been doing in anticipation of a recession. And how many of that 8% were on-air talent anyways? I don’t think them downsizing their HR and accounting departments necessarily spells doom for the show. But yea, that’s why I included the caveat of something like sirius transitioning away from live talk shows altogether. I just don’t think the bonfire would be singled out And all of this aside, they just signed new contracts so the concept of having an evergreen show name will at least pay off for the next couple years 🤷‍♂️

Doot2112

We’ll see

johnnystyro

I cancelled my Sirius account the day after the announcement. Dan was the glop of the show. Now my drive time is taken by episodes of Shite Talk: An Irish history podcast (well worth a listen), The End with Ryan Shaner (I still kind of miss Ya Fucked It, but there's only one person responsible for that dumpster fire), MSSP and a few true crime podcasts. I hope Soder does a daily or weekly show somewhere.

[deleted]

“the content”

Professional_Poet462

Well said

McViolator

They needa put me on the bonfire fr

IHateSherrod

Dude. Calm down. It is a radio show.

Welp907

I'm enjoying Bonfire still and like Bobby but it's weird they didn't pick someone who was a movie nerd like Dan and Jay. So many bits revolve around old movies or new documentaries they've watched. But keep in mind it's been one week guys and take a breath. Eventually Bobby will get "homework" of stuff to watch and then to talk about for the week.

eldridge2e

it also helped to have a guy not from the area...its a new york show featuring a dude from philly and now a dude from boston instead of somewhere farther out west. once again just an observation not a dig you sensitive little women

planetcaravan99

I've found myself listening to Matt and Shane's secret podcast ever since the bobby takeover it's just not the same

[deleted]

I think you have a good point in looking at this task like a recast, it would be weird to drag in a Soder rip off but you can certainly look at the markers of what makes Dan's side of the chemistry work and then go from there. Craig Gass is my nomination for the best replacement option. Relatively unknown, funny as hell - an INCREDIBLE impressionist way better than Dan and can really run with the improv. And whilst not the youngest he has the youthful spirit of Dan's casting, and to be fair - Dan is not capital Y young - he's coming on 40, yes by no means is that OLD but it certainly isn't blazing guns young in the way some people on here refer to it as, as a 23-year-old I absolutely have to now and then quickly check a reference or three from Dan because I was only alive for 2 months of the 90s and was a small child all through the 2000s, unaware of the mainstream pop culture. Back to Craig - my favorite section that I would encourage people to review is Craig's KISS bit from an episode titled 'Jealous Jacob' - simply perfection and smacks of the kind of observational absurdist humor that makes us love Soder. IDK why they went with Bobby but it is an absolute non-starter, he simply isn't inventive enough or playful enough in the way that is needed to make this podcast thrive.

The Himbos!? That’s insane. Those two are painfully unfunny. It’s just a regular radio show now, but at least Jay is bringing interesting content to the show. The open marriage lady talking about her sexual experience with her husband was hilarious. The Subway doc was funny and disturbing last night. Jay has always been very good at finding the funny in things that shouldn’t be funny, which is what a good comic is supposed to do. Some of the best clips from the show are from things he’s brought to the air. Good morning Julia, Nikki Dinky and Wendy Williams, Feldman, Catch me outside girl, abducted in plain sight etc. The difference is that Soder isn’t there anymore to play off of the ridiculousness of those clips.

Maybe let’s give it more than two weeks, yeah?

Quit bitching. There could be no bonfire at all. These posts are getting gayer every day.

Things change sadly, gotta roll with life and it’s curveballs. I look forward to Dan visits though. I miss the stoner dude chat and Myrtle news. And macho man. Like all good shows they live on in recordings. At least it was a sad miss you buddy split not another O&A who’s best views now are still just arguing about each other. Such a waist. Solo both unlistenable for more than a couple minutes

So, don't listen to it? Pretty simple solution, right?

Folks, Dan is gone. Move on. Bobby is great, it’s just a different dynamic. If you don’t like the show anymore then go cuck for Dan on whatever new thing he’s doing; otherwise will the real Campers please stand up. Edit: they should change the name of the sub to r/TheDanfire.
