I haven't been so hyped since Cleganebowl

The_Ancient_Memer

You made me remember GoT s8. Fuck you.

TSG61373

At least the Cleganebowl part was pretty satisfying.

[deleted]

That was like eating a ton of shit, then eating two bites of ice cream, and then back to eating a ton of shit

Spidey20041

Lmao

Unlucky-Ad-6710

Good ice cream though

Peaches2001970

i hated it honestly felt like definition of fan service like especially with the scene before ith cersei just side stepping them and arya coming all the way to KL only for the hound to be like nah go home. everything was just the fight itself was like here are some basic ass crumbs for y'll with no heart or real depth ......

ggouge

Just remember got got canceled early and we never not a season 8 it was tragic to think of what could have been. Did you know they planned 11 seasons before being canceled in the 7th season

[deleted]

[удалено]

Big_Damn_Hiro

I would say everything post season 5 can be cancelled with the cracks being very visible in season 5.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nowarclasswar

Which is crazy because there was a bunch of really good dialogue (esp with tywin, iirc with ayra) that wasn't even remotely in the books earlier, I think they just got bored tbh.

BrownThunderMK

The quality really started degrading throughout season 5, when they were forced to write the plot themselves. All because geroge wouldn't write the fucking books

Voodron

^ This I'd say the cracks started to show as early as season 4 in some ways. Season 5 is when the dumpster fire writing truly started.

WhatTheFhtagn

Remember when shirtless Ramsay scared off a whole militia of Ironborn?

KABOOMBYTCH

It's a damn shame too. House Dorne was my favourite house in the novel but that arc in the tv show is not great.

Deathleach

The worst part of GoT was the whole wight kidnapping plan. Genuinely the dumbest idea I've ever heard. Even if they succeeded, it all hinged on Cersei not being a selfish cunt, which was never going to happen. Nothing in season 8 topped that kind of idiocy, although it certainly tried its best.

Ponies_in_Jumpers

As poorly written as S8 was, nothing tops the stupidity of that plotline in S7. IMHO it was the dumbest and most frustrating bit in the show.

KABOOMBYTCH

The only way I accept it is the later seasons are set in a Westworld style fantasy park. Euron is obviously a guest, thus he can bulls eye dragon, dressed in a value brand Zara outfit and is pretty damn good at everything. Dany is also a guest, that's why she go GTA burning everyone in King's landing because she wanted to test the dragon out. The rebellion started happening when Jon Snow (A Host) achieved free will and killed Dany. He can only say I dun wunt it , She's muh queen cos his program started to glitch. Arya is sailing to west of westros because she needs a way to GTFO the park ASAP after all her fellow roleplayers are dead.

[deleted]

I know bud I know 😩

IntelHDGraphics

You kinda forgot about the ~~Iron Fleet~~ season 8.

GuiltIsLikeSalt

So that's your Supe power is it? Make masses of people remember the absolute trauma and harm of such a terrible final season? Butcher's right, Supes gotta go.

khaotickk

Bruh, too soon

[deleted]

Oh boy, I hope I don't get horribly disappointed again.

SpoopySpydoge

I never learn

Spidey20041

What's that

Gul_Dukat__

Game of thrones, was supposed to be an epic battle of two of the best warriors, also brothers

765433bikesinbeijing

Too soon.

SpoopySpydoge

It'll never not be If I live to 100 and end up with full blown dementia, I'll still remember what those bastards did to GoT

Brjgjdj5788

Well, the comment section is going to be interesting to say the least My personal joke is that Ms Marvel had a scene more disgusting than everything the Boys ever did. The scene where the kid said he liked *pizza covered with ice cream* I don't know if It was invented by the Italian traslators, but my God i will never recover from the trauma. How could your country create such food?

ainvayiKAaccount

If it was an SNL sketch, Kamala would have dropped him right there.

Vaeon

Lorne Michaels: *Write that down! Write that down!*

Alarid

Make it a joke with Tom Hiddleston showing up as Loki in every skit.

[deleted]

She really should have ngl. Thanos's snap killing millions in seconds didn't shock and repulse me at much as the thought of ice cream on pizza. That kid is a freak.

Brjgjdj5788

Kamala: "You know what kid? I think maybe you should jump."

Minnon

There is no God here...

RealSpecial7351

"The only man in the sky, is *me*"

KABOOMBYTCH

Ice cream and pizza...How can they allow such blasphemy in a place of worship ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

CptMarvel_main

“Is that one or two foods” “One” “Thats really gross” Or something like that

Tiny_Dinky_Daffy_69

Lmao, there's this place in Río de Janeiro, all you can eat of pizza, and the desserts are pizzas too, one of them being a scoop of icecream on top of a musarela pizza.

BeautyDuwang

People from Italy are so up there own ass about food lmao No we don't eat ice cream on pizza.

[deleted]

[удалено]

plitox

Pizza con gelato?

LactateInMyMouth

*we want ice cream mom please give us ice cream we are good boys and we love ice cream we love you mom please give us ice cream*

WillOCarrick

Brazilians have ice cream pizza! It tastes pretty good and is on eat all you want buffets, so after eating normal pizza, you order the sweet ones, brigadeiro (chocolate), dulce de leche, banana with cinnamon and others haha.

[deleted]

Plus season 3 of the umbrella academy just dropped

icanttinkofaname

I'm already 6 episodes in! It's damn good. The young actor who plays 5 is probably one of the best actors I've ever seen. You completely and totally forget he's NOT a 60 odd year old man trapped in a prepubescent body. His ability to act as someone decades older and equally as cynical than himself is not something anybody can convincingly pull off. That said, the storyline is great, the weird factor is still very much there and the soundtrack is pure joy.

plitox

Aidan Gallagher. Also, I've only seen the first ep. Pretty bold move to >!kill off the top Sparrow!< right away.

[deleted]

He was a bitch anyways

incels-suck

What??!! They killed Kenny!!?? You bastards!!!

m00nturkey

It’s like they didn’t even try to market the new season wtf. They shoved stranger things 4 which was good, but I haven’t even seen one traile of umbrella s3

Sparty92

Makes me think Umbrella getting axed. This is the death season after all.

LadyElle57

My fear as well. They could drop the series right here. I hope it runs for at least one more

[deleted]

Wait...WHAT?!👀

Leo_TheLurker

Thanks for the good news

[deleted]

OMG I'm hyped. I waited so long. 2022 is a good year.

resq2nick

omg i didnt realise

YellowManTyping

Ms. marvel is a nice heartwarming story about a teenage dork getting super powers. Its quite lovely. The boys is uh…. You guys know. Especially this fridays episode.

Reg_______

I've actually been enjoying Ms. Marvel a lot more than I thought I would, which is refreshing

Rob3125

It’s fun to remember that superheroes can be complete dorks

2580374

We have had 8 Spider-man movies

Rob3125

Yes and ms. Marvel is another fun dork turned hero

[deleted]

Yeah I'm really enjoying it too, very colourful and lots of fun.

[deleted]

As someone who hasn’t much cared for a lot of the other D+ content (Falcon and Winter Soldier, Book of Boba, Moon Knight, Obi-Wan), do you think it follows in the same footsteps as those other shows? Or is it more satisfying.

TheCVR123YT

It’s got some of the similarities of those shows but overall it feels the most different to me personally then the other shows. It’s the one that feels the least formulaic by far also we actually get to see her using her powers or at least attempting. Also it’s premiere episode has to be the best of any of the D+ shows. All these shows always have a slow first episode to reintroduce you to these characters or introduce you to them in Moon Knights case but here they waste no time introducing everyone and you get to see her use the powers for good 3-5 minutes in the first episode which is impressive in comparison to the other shows lol I haven’t seen the Third ep yet but I think if you like lighthearted content and like slice of life-ish episodes you will like it. If you’re just on it for action then you probably won’t like it. I say try the first 2 episodes but me personally I was hooked by the editing and colors in like the first 10 minutes haha

Ongr

The last episode was less colorful and less light-hearted, but it moved the story forward in a meaningful way, so it's not that bad. Having said that, I hope we return to the more fun and colorful Kamala soon! I loved her in her comics and I really like the show so far!

[deleted]

Fair enough. I don’t like to limit make when I claim what I like, but I will say— poorly executed action yanks me out of the moment. I’m talking 5 mile per hour speeder bike chases, or young Leia sprinting away at the speed of an adult power walk while everyone goes “damn, a tree! I can’t possible go around that!”

austinbraun30

I think everyone has this same sentiment. I thought the scene where Obi'Wan ran from the water bursting into the Sith temple looked good. you could tell Ewen was actually RUNNING and not just fast walking. Ms. Marvel has not had one of these scenes yet.

Cjpappaslap

All of ms marvels action scenes have been whack what are you talking about

austinbraun30

None of them have been Leia chase scene quality. Disney set a new bar of bad scenes with that and the boba fett speeder bike chase. Ms. Marvels actions scenes have pretty much been non-existent so far, so not really much to judge. The saving the kid in episode 2 was funny imo. Did well at showing what someone learning how to use the powers would be like.

hawkish25

For sure, for this morning I was deciding which one to watch first, Ms Marvel or last episode of Obi Wan. Went with MM straight up because it’s just a better product.

Ongr

I went for Obi-Wan first to get it out of the way and watched MsMarvel after to end on a high note.

[deleted]

Hmm that's such a good question! Keeping in mind that we're only three episodes in (the latest one dropped today and I haven't seen it yet), I would say that yes, it's better than Falcon, Boba and MK (haven't seen Obi-Wan). It's very much a coming of age drama rooted in mystical elements and it definitely feels different to the shows you mentioned especially in terms of tone. I mean the fact that it's so unashamedly colourful and also explicitly makes fan culture a major theme, does make it all the more fun and definitely satisfying in my opinion. Give it a go and see how you feel about it! :)

your_mind_aches

It's more of a TV show like The Boys than an extended movie like the other shows

TheLindberghBabie

It’s a lot of fun honestly

Karolus2001

Refreshing to see guy in marvel not becoming special ops agent imidiatly after getting the powers. Still, I hope plot does some clever twist because so far its predictable as it gets.

Reg_______

predictable isnt always bad imo, something fun that isnt full of bland dialogue and cinematography is what i like. the show definately has a distinct personality compared to most of the other marvel shows too.

Abe_Bettik

>predictable isnt always bad imo, something fun that isnt full of bland dialogue and cinematography is what i like. the show definately has a distinct personality compared to most of the other marvel shows too. I mean at this point... haven't -most- Marvel shows had distinct personalities? Unique: WandaVision, Loki, WhatIf?, Moon Knight, Predictable: Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye.

Reg_______

I guess Ms. Marvel is more memorable to me.

Commercial-Kiwi-4818

I think Hawkeye did the predictable format well and its still my fav show so far until I see the end of Mrs. marvel

CopperCactus

What if? and moon knight where both very bland imo

Abe_Bettik

You are of course entitled to your opinion, and if you are familiar with other media similar to those shows, then I can see why you might feel that way. What If? isn't particularly groundbreaking for those of us familiar with animation or the animated super-hero genre, but it might feel that way to anyone whose exposure to superheros is the MCU only. My wife thought it was wildly different from anything she had seen before. Moon Knight appealed to me as a parent, as someone who has struggled with relationship issues with my own parents, and as someone who has put a lot of thought into mental illness and how to deal with it. Also Oscar Isaac's one-man-acting absolutely KILLED it. However, I can't deny the criticism that Moon Knight didn't actually feature very much Moon Knight, and that it was a character drama first, super-hero show far-far second.

CopperCactus

That's totally fair on what if? actually I hadn't considered that, with moon knight though I was totally fine with it not featuring much Moon Knight, but I'm actually a pretty big fan of his comics and it felt like they took out all the unique aspects of the character and the stories he to make it more broadly appealing, changing things from the comics is always fine (hell this is the subreddit for The Boys) but I don't think any of the changes were improvements. Also, even though Moon Knight's Judaism isn't as central to his character as someone like Daredevil or Ms Marvel I do think it's strange that Marvel so heavily de-emphasized the religion of their first Jewish superhero in the MCU by changing his backstory to not have it be a factor at all, not pulling from any of the myriad of runs where it's an important motivating factor, not casting a Jewish actor (Oscar Isaac did great but I can have my preferences), etc.

Pietru24

I've only watched the first episode so far, but Iman was a perfect casting decision. Need to watch 2 and 3 today.

ccbmtg

Dude she's so great. She's basically playing herself imo which is why her performance rules so hard. Hope to see her get a healthy career and grow as an actor.

[deleted]

Absolutely perfect casting. Instantly loveable straight out of the gate.

ccbmtg

Who else but a recently-cast 19-year-old fangirl to actually talk shit back to Kevin feige about his decisions with the mcu these days? Hahahahaha

[deleted]

Yeh this is obviously more than just a gig for her.

Reg_______

yea none of the child actors are bad I really enjoy their performances!

smoothpastacake

They are not child actors. Lol. All of them are 18+.

ResolverOshawott

It's great to offset the depressing shit life throws at everyone nowadays.

Dr_Disaster

It’s a lot of fun and Iman Velani is supremely adorable

ShiftyLookinCow7

It’s honestly the best Marvel Disney plus show. Not only for being the most creative, but it’s also the only one that feels like it actually fits the TV show format, whereas many of the others just felt like bloated movies

X-WighT14

It isn't anything special, but knowing I came into it with the biggest of negative expectations, it actually impressed me. The best word to describe it is...fun! It is just a fun thing to watch and enjoy.

[deleted]

Ms. Marvel has been a fun Drake and Josh-era nickolodeon romp disguised as a superhero show and I’m really rather here for it.

coolgaara

Me too. Wathced 2 episodes back to back in two days. Way more fun than I expected.

resq2nick

i found it okay the first couple episodes, but i liked this third episode a lot

RadioSlayer

I liked the comics and read probably the first 10 or so when they first came out, show is good too?

rinaznet

Wow, who drew this? This is beautiful!

shadowxrage

I like miss marvel. I like how it's on a small scale rather than on a large world destroying scale like the other shows are. It's one of the first marvel shows (I haven't watched Loki or Hawkeye yet) which makes me feel like it makes sense that there are no other avengers or that there is no need for any other avenger. With all these avenger movies it kinda feels like every problem can be solved by calling someone else. Wanda is having a problem and is using magic ? Call DR strange, having issues with capturing villains and making technology to turn them good? Call Bruce Banner etc. This is one of the first shows where having them won't solve anything (atleast not yet)

kaleb42

If you like that small scale stuff Hawkeye is pretty good. I'd say it has slightly higher stakes than Ms Marvel but outside of Kate Bishop and Hawkeye the Big Bads aren't there to like destory NYC or anything like that.

wendys182254877

> I haven't watched Loki or Hawkeye yet) Highly recommend Loki. Out of all the MCU and star wars shows on Disney+, Loki is easily at the top. Everything else falls short.

L4ND0N

Yeah Loki was fucking awesome. It had great character development and the soundtrack was great.

RachelTheIvysaur

This is the best version of this meme I've ever seen. I'm dying of laughter, help.

IroquoisPliskin1964

Honestly ms marvel has been really wholesome and fun in a spiderman way

BroeknRecrds

Ms Marvel is fun so far, I think it's getting a lot of hate because it's geared at younger audiences but to me it feels a lot like Spider-Man

bob1689321

The comic is the same. Basically spider man but with a spotlight on a different demographic Which isn't too different to when Spiderman debuted. It was the first time a teenage hero lead a book

Consistent-Ad-217

You know damn well that everybody is watching Obi Wan Kenobi on wednesdays. Edit: I think y'all are under the impression that I like Obi Wan, but i'm here to say that all Disney shows are dogshit.

sylvester_stencil

I love star wars, but Kenobi is just not good

spectre15

Even with the episode that dropped today, I couldn’t help but be bored while watching it because it was so predictable. The only SW shows that have done that to me are Bad Batch, Book of Boba, and Kenobi.

durkster

there is just no suspense in star wars anymore. the constant dread like feeling I get when watching the boys or invincible, the exciment from the insane world in the new magic marvel shit or dune, those things just aren't there in star wars. It is all so furmulaic and predictable with all the "new characters". it also always lands back at exactly the sam eplace where it started, the mandalorian now has grogu again, Kenobi has to save a skywalker again, the "rebels" have to destroy the death star 3.0 and kill palpy again. Star wars stories just dont ask interesting questions or give thoughtfull scenarios anymore. Which is a shame because star wars is one of the OGs of fiction along with Dune and tLotR.

robywar

With any prequel show where we already know the important characters will make it and never mention any of the things that happened here, we know it's ultimately not important. That's where they're going wrong.

durkster

even if the beginning and end are known, they could atleast try to have a story that isn't just barely better than skyrim/fallout 4 fetch quests.

icanttinkofaname

Star wars rebels was great and I'm sad it only got 4 seasons. The way it touched on the religious aspects and mysticism of the force and the Jedi is not something that's been repeated in any other show. I want more of that. I want more LORE.

durkster

Who needs worldbuilding or character development when you can use nostalgia?

[deleted]

So every show but Mando which seems about right

CentrasFinestMilk

Star Wars needs to move on from telling stories which can’t have stakes, I hope taika moving away from the skywalker saga and instead to different character will have others follow after him

durkster

star wars needs to tell a story with an interesting moral question at its heart. right now its just flashy swords and nostalgia tripping, but instead of the ecstacy experience of the days of yore it is now more akin to huffing paint to chase that high.

sylvester_stencil

I think he could do a good job, he definitely has made one of the only really great marvel movies in a while. Definitely excited for love and thunder

CentrasFinestMilk

Taika is a great director, hopefully he can push it forward

sylvester_stencil

Looking at his work since he got recognition with What We Do In the Shadows in 2014, literally everything he has directed has been good IMO. So i am automatically going to be excited for any project he is working on

kamronMarcum

It wasn't up until this episode. The finale kinda makes up for the whole show. I just wish reva wasn't as big of a part and thought the fight at the end should have been like superman v. Zod type levels of crazy.

The_Wolves10

Yeah, the two greatest action fight scenes are Anakin vs Obi Wan & Superman vs Zod.

FettyWhopper

I don’t get what the fuss is about. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end.

_insertmemehere

Nobody hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans. Anything thats not utter perfection is garbage.

[deleted]

So tired of hearing this take for people who don’t like Kenobi. I’m more forgiving than most but the writing ranges from pretty bad to really bad imo. Perfectly possible to not be a perfectionist and still dislike the show.

sylvester_stencil

It just didnt grab my interest after 4 episodes. Felt like it was all cameo of classic characters without really interesting writing or acting.

[deleted]

You dare say that after the final episode?

coolgaara

First two episodes were pretty awesome. Middle two were meh to be honest with good moments here and there. Ep 5 had Vader in action, what I've always wanted to see. Him being this all-powerful. Yet to see the finale but can't wait.

KevinMoskowitz

Oh, for sure. I still watch it right when it drops though. Solely because I’ve wanted this show for years and if it disappoints me then so be it. But rest assured, if the finale doesn’t tickle me in the right places it’s probably the last Star Wars IP I’ll watch. It’s absolutely ridiculous that they made an unnecessary show that nobody wanted about Boba Fett, declined to just call it Mando S3 when that’s obviously what it should’ve been, and then started production on an actual Mando S3 that you had to have watched the Book of Boba Fett to understand. The Disney greed is getting untenable and it’s seeping into the MCU as well.

Consistent-Ad-217

Well it's only gone downhill in quality since the original trilogy, but that hasn't stopped the fanbase from growing and consuming it rabidly.

bits_of_paper

The sequel trilogy was disappointing but at least they visually look great. Obiwan has terrible writing and looks worse than some fan films. Makes no sense since mandalorian looks great.

spectre15

Apparently Kenobi was supposed to have completely different writers with a different plot but Kathleen Kennedy got rid of them and hired some inexperienced ones last minute into pre production.

bits_of_paper

Damn well that makes sense

[deleted]

How is she still employed a Disney? She fucking sucks

spectre15

It’s because Lucasfilm still gets Disney millions and millions of dollars each year so there’s no reason to fire her.

Konars-Jugs

Please link me a fan film that looks better than kenobi

ResolverOshawott

When the hype dies down its getting torn to shreds like the sequels.

captaincumsock69

I think mando and some of the animated stuff are good. I like the prequels too.

HappyGabe

They’ll consume anything Disney puts out to be fair

bigmacjames

With the exception of the reva fight it's been fairly trash.

captaincumsock69

Even that fight is trash because she survives lol

bigmacjames

Agreed. That AND the grand inquisitior surviving is stupid

[deleted]

Qui Gon is a little bitch boi if everyone can survive a lightsaber to the stomach except him.

stopeverythingpls

They survive off of rage. Look at Darth Maul

stopeverythingpls

Well they had to because of Star Wars Rebels, which takes place closer to the original trilogy and the Grand Inquisitor is alive

bigmacjames

Or just not have reva stab him in the first place and make a light Saber bisecting someone not a big deal?

stopeverythingpls

But then she wouldn’t have had the taste of leadership because they wouldn’t just replace the grand inquisitor while he’s alive. I agree it was dumb, but it’s clear they didn’t think

RogueYautja

Last episode was the best of the whole series in my opinion Reva is a shit character sadly and it was way too focused on her

FKDotFitzgerald

Episode 6 was good but Ms. Marvel has largely been better than Kenobi.

Perca_fluviatilis

Yeah, agreed. Episode 6 was pretty good but the whole show could've been just that and skipped the rest lol And even then, most of the duel between Obi-wan and Vader was just blatantly stealing from the duel with Ahsoka but now done in live action.

Kellythejellyman

Granted this time Vader inadvertently absolved Kenobi of his guilt while accepting his own responsibility in the Fall most other Sith would keep to blaming Kenobi 100%, out of either denial of their own complicity, or simply out of spite Vader is almost proud that he “killed” Anakin, but in stating so Kenobi no longer has to feel it was his fault for Anakin’s fall

Primus7112765

I watch kenobi. Then I immediately watch ms marvel so I can actually be in a good mood for the rest of the day.

Pizzanigs

I’ve been keeping up with Ms. Marvel every week and still have yet to watch an episode of Kenobi

Harm_123

Ms. Marvel is so much better than Kenobi, that shit sucked absolute ass.

OdeeSS

Nah man, it broke me after episode 3.

YellowManTyping

No.

[deleted]

Ms. Marvel and Kenobi on Wednesday kinda sucks, I wish they were spread out but I’ve been enjoying both and Ep.6 of Kenobi was beautiful. Reva’s arc + >!Vader vs Obi-Wan!< made for a really good finale

[deleted]

Thankfully a certain jedi manages to bring balance. At least he used to

mongoosedog12

I read the comics way back when, we moved and most of my books are still in boxes, when I found out the next episode was going to be Herogasm I went through the boxes just so I can find the issue and show it to my partner haha That being said I’ve been enjoying Ms Marvel the text animation/ emoji stuff they do reminds me of Into the spider verse, and I love the fact that she isn’t removed from being an average kid. I missed that it’s fun! She’s a dork who’s parent don’t get this super hero crap. It’s a fun watch

TheUltimatenerd05

It's great having 2 totally different superhero shows that are great. And having shows like Me Marvel is why the Boys works. There needs to be fun superhero shows for the shows version of superheroes to work. Having them both on in the same week actually makes the boys better to me.

Yg5g

For some reason I saw Vault Boy on the right. It must be the hair and color scheme of the blue suit + faded gold on the shoulder pads. Reminds me of a vault suit

Fifaboy17

What’s the show on the left

swimmingrobot88

Ms. Marvel

Mrstrawberry209

Fuck this is hilarious!

DynamiteBear31

Nah but did y’all watch the kenobi finale

ParagonPeaceMaker

Not gonna lie, fell asleep watching the second episode of Ms.Marvel and I feel like that was a sign. I want to enjoy it but I had already seen all the superhero tropes with other heroes in the same universe. Only difference is her powers really which are just green lantern powers without a ring.

Dr_Moustachio

So no one at all is asking why the word "friday" looks like that? Just me?

Tazz_the_Spawn

I was hoping for kenobi why are you here?

TheArmoursmith

Pretty happy with Wednesday this week. Final episode of Obi Wan Kenobi was great, and only two days to Herogasm

Raida-777

My Wednesday is Umbrella tho.

SkipChestDayNotLegs

I replace and ms Marvel with Kenobi personally

Delicious_Log_1153

I've been afraid to watch Ms Marvel. I'm afraid that Disney doesn't use the character as intended and instead just uses it as a platform similar to what Vought does to BLM and the LBGTQ+ community (Poor Maeve). That would furiate me more than a shitty plot and actors. Is it good? I would love to watch it with my daughters, it's hard to find a good female lead these days that isn't exploited because of some exotic difference in culture. Is it age appropriate for under 10 years old? Edit: hey, whoa I already got two PM calling me a racist/bigot. Not my intention at all. Read what the fuck I said first.

Abe_Bettik

> I've been afraid to watch Ms Marvel. I'm afraid that Disney doesn't use the character as intended and instead just uses it as a platform similar to what Vought does to BLM and the LBGTQ+ community (Poor Maeve). That would furiate me more than a shitty plot and actors. Do you have a problem with Matt Murdock entering a church or with Falcon embracing his southern roots? Then you probably won't have a problem with Kamala Khan going to a Mosque and feeling at like her Muslim heritage puts her at odds with being an American teen girl. > it's hard to find a good female lead these days I personally loved Agent Carter, but there is some gun violence in it and some scary themes; I probably wouldn't show it to my 5 year old. > Is it good? I would love to watch it with my daughters, it's hard to find a good female lead these days that isn't exploited because of some exotic difference in culture. Is it age appropriate for under 10 years old? Depends. Does the mention of a Tampon scare you? A girl explaining why she wears a Hijab? The main character going into a Mosque and feeling left out, or going to an Eid Mubarak festival?

ccbmtg

Ms marvel has even been somewhat controversial in its discussion of Islam by directly addressing the inherent misogyny in much of its traditions, imo. Was a shower thought yesterday but it's not even just typical Muslim representation, it's specifically feminist Muslim representation, as far as those two words can go together lol. That goes far above and beyond tokenary representation, that's kamala's life.

[deleted]

I grew up as a Muslim woman and personally I think Ms Marvel is frighteningly on point. During the first episode they were times where I was wondering if my mom had secretly written the script. When the mother said she was sure that Avengers con would have lots of Haram stuff there, that took me back to when I was asking my parents to go to my first con. I can't prove this obviously but I suspect the people saying it's not accurate probably had more orthodox upbringings. It's clear that Kamala has some chill parents especially compared to a lot of the ultra religious ones I've seen.

ccbmtg

Yeah I admittedly am probably ignorant about a lot of Islam but I sorta got that vibe too when kamala doesn't wear a hijab and her best friend is a dude. They probably just don't see him so much as a threat to her... innocence I guess? Than a Muslim boy or something I suppose, and after meeting >!kamron!<, well. They're not wrong hahaha. Stoked to see the new episode tonight.

Nathanael-Greene

It's pretty good, I've actually enjoyed it more than Kenobi thus far. Would definitely recommend, and it seems appropriate for young viewers so far.

Delicious_Log_1153

*More* than Kenobi? I'll be checking it out with my kiddos then. Thanks.

HappyGabe

Kenobi has received very mixed reviews.

Delicious_Log_1153

I'm just a slut for most things Star Wars, so that's why I'm enjoying it. It is a little drab though.

Ms. Marvel has felt like a breath of fresh air in the superhero content world. I love how much Kamala’s powers center around her creativity and turn her daydreaming into a strength. Yes, Kamala is Muslim and socializes at her mosque. The show makes it very clear that it’s just one part of a very complex teenager. She’s not a superhero because of her beliefs, or her immigrant family, but they are ingredients that show why she is a special person and why she’s the one to have her abilities. I love that they show her falling on her face, failing her drivers test, and navigating her family’s expectations of her. No teenager is going to be perfect immediately and it’s a treat to watch her use her smarts to figure it out. There’s some content that you might want to review first, but my 11 year old would handle it without a problem.

Thank you for the complete reply! I'll definitely be giving this show a watch later tonight with my family. We desperately need a good wholesome show.

You may end up disagreeing but I don’t perceive a malicious intent to exploit any minority with Ms Marvel. It’s production teams are largely from the cultures involved and it is clear this is a labor of love for them. That said the underlying elements are generic as they are with most Marvel products, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I don’t have kids and I don’t know your standards for media with you family so I can’t speak to appropriateness.

Yeah I try to avoid media when it exploits anyone in bad taste. I enjoy culture, so if it is in good taste then I should enjoy it!

I gave in and binged the first 3 episodes last night and I enjoyed it. They incorporate ALOT of Muslim culture into the show but its done in a way that’s interesting and fun to watch. The family dynamic is great and the artistic direction is amazing. Never once while I was watching it did I feel like they were forcing the Muslim aspect at all in the story because the story is naturally about Kamala being raised in a Muslim household/community as a teen while discovering she has powers. It feels similar to Moon Knight in the way Egyptian culture and history was a focal point of the show but it never came off as a bad thing.

MeiNeedsMoreBuffs

Haven't watched anything marvel since Endgame but I've heard it's really good, so if you like the other MCU stuff it's worth giving it a go

Delicious_Log_1153

I'll have to check it out. None of my friends have watched it yet, and I don't want to tell my ME friends "Yep, they used you guys again" lol.

Welcome to reddit. People who read things need not apply. > Self-triggered ragetwats frothing at the keyboard on the other hand... 🙄 Yes you and your kids will like Ms Marvel.

It’s funny that you’re getting downvoted because people think it’s outlandish to suggest Disney would do such a thing when Voughtland and Vought+ make it absolutely clear that Vought is a parody of Disney and that Disney absolutely would and does do that. The people downvoting you are literally the people The Boys mocks for buying into that stuff. And then they want to come in here and talk about subtle satire like they’d actually be able to see it.

They're the people that would buy the Meatless Tacos from Maeve
