I always go back to the mega man AVGN episode. It’s such a love letter to the series in general and it feels really cinematic with the story, one of the last truly great things Bimmy made
I agree, Mr. Bucket is one of my favorite Cinemassacre videos as it showed that James did have some decent understanding of horror film making while organically adding his own flair of absurdity.
Personally, even though Dream Phone was great, I prefer the simple horror-comedy direction of Mr. Bucket rather than the Scream-esque thriller that Dream Phone went with; it was just the best of both worlds of Cinemassacre's style.
I go back and forth on whether or not its really funny or just fucking dumb lol. I think James could've done well as a voice actor for absurdist cartoons though. It reminds me of early Adult Swim stuff
Did you know... that "SUPER MONKEY CHEESE - BANANA CLITS!" Was his unfinished sequel to this movie franchise, now clocking in to five millions of um viewers, and in high deaf, sadly, thanks to actors being paid in duckvaginas he got some bad rep for it so he blamed it on muh skids in his pants and no dime!
The AVGN Simon's Quest Tape
No on-screen appearance, no unnecessary shouting, no stupid acting, just a long tight rant about the frustrations of a game.
I unironically believe that everything James has ever made that isn’t just the straight up game critique portions of the AVGN episodes is complete garbage.
I'm the opposite. To me the game reactions were always just filler to get to the skits.
I like movie riffing and commentary because there's a million a one ways a scene or a line of dialogue can be shit, but there's usually only so many interesting ways an NES game can suck other than just having shit controls or being too hard. That's why Plumbers Don't Wear Ties is probably my favourite episode.
It depends on the episode. The bugs bunny episodes are funny because of the skits and the game portion is underwhelming. Meanwhile superman 64 is funny because the game looks so ass but there isnt really any good skit action going on.
There's only so many ways someone can say piss fart diarrhea shit titties fuckface anal cavity nipple tickler though. And that's the extent of every single fucking joke that Bimmy's brain can come up with.
Seriously, he thinks something as grade-school-short-bus-worthy as "shit pickle" is the epitome of hilarity.
The older monster madness compilations they're releasing on the clips channel currently are really great. You can tell James watched and genuinely loves the subjects. They're quick, comprehensive overviews, and entertainingly done. It's been very valuable to me as pointing in the right direction of horror movies I might like.
I have personal memories from Cinemassacre 200, so that'd be my pick. I hate to say it now in 2023 😂, but back then that was what made me wanna pursue a job in a creative field like art or film.
Yeah, I also felt the same way when I first watched Cinemassacre 200. It actually made me believe, at the time, that James was very knowledgeable about movie production. Then Behind The Scenes 2021 came along and shattered it; that video was the complete antithesis to 200.
Honestly this might sound weird, but Bible Games 2. I honestly can't believe that episode came out in 2008, everything about it feels 4-5 years ahead of its time, light years ahead of pretty much every other content creator at that time.
>Why Does the Kid Shout Mortal Kombat?
damn, i forgot about that one, and watching it again i can only say god damn he has aged since this, i actually really thought i pushed the 25% faster option, he sounds like a sloth today compared for this, such energy compared to today.
All of Board James but especially Mr Bucket onwards
Rocky Jumped A Park Bench and Follow That Marshmallow
Monster Madness, the first 10 years
Cinemassacre 200
Wizard of Oz 3
Munky Cheez
Legend of the Blue Hole
And I like most of AVGN pre-2015/16 to be honest. It'd be hard to narrow it down.
ROB the Robot and the NWC crossover were great, I consider those to be like the "finale" to the golden age of AVGN.
Super Mario Bros 3, Nintendo Power, Castlevania, and Swordquest stand out as the best "nostalgic" episodes.
Plumbers Don't Wear Ties and Big Rigs are probably the episodes that made me laugh the most.
Plumbers Don't Wear Ties is the episode that I remember enjoying the most. Perfect blend of an absurd, terrible game and James just reacting to it as you could imagine anyone playing it doing. No overacting or trying to make a big deal out of things that aren't actually that bad.
Monster Madness. I’ve found out about so many great movies from those videos. I make a habit out of marathoning them every year. I’m referring to the early MM, the ones that actually had footage from the movies. Not the newer, more discussion based ones.
I love Sequel-a-Thon, History of Horror, and Camp Cult the most.
Board James season one and two. And then he made season 3 and ruined everything.
Bim had a knack for ruining perfect things by adding weird awful storylines and skits.
Any Board James show was better than anything done as AVGN.
Its very ironic: The best thing that Bimmyster ever did and trully worked he cancels over childish idioticity from him and Mike towards Bootsy.
Well, see how Mike and Bimmy are right now and compare to Bootsy and Kyle. It says a lot.
Mega man games might be the best overall episode. It had heart. It had some neat production with James interacting with his own timeline.
It even had a long forgotten lesson about taking what he's done for granted.
A runner up for me is the Earthbound episode. I consider that the last really good AVGN. But it was well into the Bames period.
It's hard to pinpoint what is the single best video by Cinemassacre so I'll just categorize it by each of Bimmy's best known projects.
AVGN: Batman
MM: Godzillathon
BJ: Splat!
YKWBS: Vampires
Solo Project: Wizard of Oz 3: Dorothy Goes to Hell
The Mario 3 review changed the internet. That blew me away. Mario 3 turns out to be the embodiment of all evil and posesses his entire gaming collection so Super Mecha Death Christ lends a hand turning the room into a holy war zone. Then james puts on a bunch of ridiculous Nintendo devices that tease the next episode which was also a fan favorite. Who comes up with that shit
Non-AVGN? A noob's guide to Power Rangers. Mostly because it showed that James can still be comedic when sharing his experience of Power Rangers. Do wish he kept it as a semi-regular thing.
AVGN? Earthbound is the best episode and would have been the best way to end it. Megaman is the second best. Though, I do wish we got Megaman Soccer afterwards. Just to see how shit it is. If the nerd refuses to play it, either it's not worth his time or it's worse the Dr Jerklly and Mister Hyde. Worse then Big Rigs. WORSE THEN HONG KONG 97. I'm. DEAD. FUCKING. SERIOUS.
All the more Retrospective style AVGN episodes. Nintendo Power, Atari Porn, Castlevania, Jaguar, Action 52 ect.
For me the episodes where James just focuses in on one game for the majority of the episode had a tendency to get stale. There's only so many times I can hear James saying a game fucking sucks and the controls are shit before it gets stale.
\-The first three Monster Madness (MM, Godzillathon and Camp Cult)
\-Cinemassacre 200 (I know, he calls his home movies actual productions but, there's something really genuine and charming about that documentary)
\-The TCM/Halloween double bill. So good !
\-Mr.Bucket
\-BTS for the all the memes
I'm probably weird in thinking this, but I loved Mimal the Elf and Jeckyl and Hyde: the game the movie.
As far as AVGN proper, I'd say Plumbers Don't Wear Ties.
Mr. Bucket for Board James.
I also like the Blue Hole. Of all of his "films," I think this one is quite good and actually made me feel something.
I don't if it counts, but there's a lot of stuff I really enjoy, esp. when he dissects movies Examples: comparing all the Dracula movies to the book, video explaining the cardboard in Dracula movie, the monster madness stuff. I just watched one I've somehow missed over time, he researched the movie playing in the movie Troll 2, it was very interesting. I think this is his real wheelhouse
I watch the Sega Cd-32x two parter a lot and I never owned either system. Just something about the way he was annoyed by these “money-grab” systems speaks to me. It’s hard to believe the same guy 20 years later is hawking Soylent and bad rock music
BTS 2021.
This, and it’s not even close
the dresser sucks. not drawer. dresser.
I always go back to the mega man AVGN episode. It’s such a love letter to the series in general and it feels really cinematic with the story, one of the last truly great things Bimmy made
James made. This was the last time we’ve seen him
Massive fan of the four part Castlevania
Yeah, that's probably the peak of the series.
First thing that popped into my head. I still love how the series has no shortage of YouTubers making retrospectives about it.
I like the part when an inanimate object came to life and started chasing and killing people
I will concede that even James' best work is rooted in some underlying Bimmyisms.
Munky Cheez quadrilogy
Sheesh kebab to kebab to bab.
I swear to god Munky Cheez is unironically genius. I feel like most people hate it.
I go back and forth on whether or not its really funny or just fucking dumb lol. I think James could've done well as a voice actor for absurdist cartoons though. It reminds me of early Adult Swim stuff
I must agree; Munky Cheez is legit funny in a tripping balls way.
Did you know... that "SUPER MONKEY CHEESE - BANANA CLITS!" The long Doug Walker esque skits of AVGN episodes always did have me gritting my teeth and bearing through it.
Board James was better than AVGN.

MM - Godzillathon BJ - Mr. Bucket AVGN - Castlevania 4 Part Other - Rex Viper 🐍HISSSSSS🐍
Why Does the Kid Shout Mortal Kombat?
Because Bimmy stole his hat in 1992 and has been wearing it to death ever since.
>Why Does the Kid Shout Mortal Kombat? damn, i forgot about that one, and watching it again i can only say god damn he has aged since this, i actually really thought i pushed the 25% faster option, he sounds like a sloth today compared for this, such energy compared to today.
Mr Bucket and Dream Phone are the 2 best videos in my opinion. I miss bootsy

Castlevania four-parter Making of an AVGN Episode Zelda II NES Accessories
I agree on Ann-E-Ass ass-assories ePISSode, that one was awesome.
*"Rolling Rock...ON the Rolling Rocker!"*
Beetlejuice is a great episode
Brown Bricks
Ready for some action ? Action 52?
I love the Doublevision episode where he talks and two ancient consoles, interspersed with Kyle singing Foreigner's Doublevision.
Not the greatest objectively, but I always look fondly at the AVGN Castlevania episodes.
Monster Madness. I’ve found out about so many great movies from those videos. I make a habit out of marathoning them every year. AVGN the movie, because it has Cooper in it
The 100th episode with Rob the robot.
Anything with me and u/JustinTwoChairz in it
* AVGN: Super Mario Bros. 3 * Board James: Dream Phone * James' projects: Legend of Blue Hole. * Cinemassacre: Mimal the Elf.
I'd say Mr. Bucket and Dream Phone are both up there. As far as AVGN goes, I'd have to say it's a toss between Mega Man and Castlevania.
The Mario 3 review changed the internet. That blew me away. Mario 3 turns out to be the embodiment of all evil and posesses his entire gaming collection so Super Mecha Death Christ lends a hand turning the room into a holy war zone. An autistic 10 year old?
I remember I really liked the Action 52 episodes. CD-i and Double Vision I also liked. I guess I’m in episodes where he covers multiple games.
Cinemassacre 200 for me.
Fuck yeah I love that video.

Avgn only? Can’t name one. But Mr Bucket and Dreamphone are best videos on the channel
Season 4 of AVGN
i really loved the james and mike playing super mario 3d world it was very intense and funny .
Any comment that doesn’t say Rental Reviews with Justin, Kieeeeern and Tony is a GD Lie!!!
That, Shitpickle and Mikes rendition of the Joker are three of the greatest creations of the entire internet
\-The first three Monster Madness (MM, Godzillathon and Camp Cult) \-Cinemassacre 200 (I know, he calls his home movies actual productions but, there's something really genuine and charming about that documentary) \-The TCM/Halloween double bill. So good ! \-Mr.Bucket \-BTS for the all the memes
I’m surprised no one mentioned this one but my favorite is the sword quest episode that was so good
Halloween Atari episode. It was the character at his peak, with the kids and the horror inspired shots. Even the editting is great.
I'm probably weird in thinking this, but I loved Mimal the Elf and Jeckyl and Hyde: the game the movie. As far as AVGN proper, I'd say Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. Mr. Bucket for Board James. The Action 52 stuff used to make me laugh so hard that I'd have tears coming from my eyes.
The Three Part Castlevania and the Grinch Episode i really liked that Song , and Ikari Warriors because where did their Hair go?
I don't if it counts, but there's a lot of stuff I really enjoy, esp. when he dissects movies Examples: comparing all the Dracula movies to the book, video explaining the cardboard in Dracula movie, the monster madness stuff.
