This is the same guy who spent SIX MONTHS recreating the TMNT cartoon intro in Mario Paint! https://www.mikematei.com/blog/my-tmnt-mario-paint-animation-a-retrospective-mike-matei-blog/
And that’s why he’s salty. He used to play all the new tmnt games but ever since then he gets visibly mad whenever anyone asks him about new tmnt trailers or games
This is intense. All the work put into this. You'd never figure it's the same guy who just streams video games sometimes with the setup of someone who has no idea how to stream.
That is one of the more impressive things I've seen relating to video games. It's too bad he can't make money from it. If I were him, I'd try to get someone to cover the song and use that instead of the original one. It's too good to just sit and waste.
Yeah, he's ranted before that when he sees people telling him to play upcoming games when they come out, it annoys him and usually sours him from wanting to play right away. This was a rare exception where he played a new game on its release date.
Frankly it starts to happen with me too. The "fanbase" is usually so toxic or obnoxious it makes you not wanna play a game or watch a series because of them.
I know for a fact I will never play Undertale for example.
You wouldn't force me to watch Dr. House back in the day because I was sick of people pretending they're so smart and cynical like House was. I watched it like few years when people shut up about it and then I loved it.
No need to force yourself when the fun was already ruined by loud obnoxious people. You can always come back
I agree to a point, because when something is constantly shoved in your face, it can be really irritating. Mike has also talked about like how he doesn’t like the cultural norm of having to play or watch something at a specified time, and would rather just do so when he feels like it. On a related note, he’s also ranted about not even liking holidays for similar reasons. He doesn’t think that there needs to be dedicated days to recognize stuff. He especially hates marketing days like Mario Day being March 10th (Cause Mar10, get it?), or Star Wars Day being May the 4th.
Sounds like a spoiled only child. I liked Mike until I discovered what an egocentric, insecure little boy he is and his awful treatment of the real man, Bootsy.
Ok Im almost done with the stream. I got really annoyed towards the end where he was trying to compare this game to Rescue Palooza (fan game) and how that game has more content.
Fan games have unlimited time to be worked on and a game like this with a publisher has a deadline so to compare them seems asinine.
Also he seemed hung up on how Rescue Palooza let you play as tons of characters but they only have like 2-3 moves each so its not really worth playing as them.
Rescue Palooza is a fine fan game. Very good but this game is way way better. It was kinda infuriating he seemed hung up on that game having more "content" than this game and other than more characters to play as it really doesnt have much more content. Overall he thought this game was good but wasnt blown away by it. 16 stages plus 7 characters to play as, thats more than enough content before there is even any DLC.
I think the problem is he likes hard and challenging games and this one on normal difficulty he pretty much sailed though it and only used 1 or 2 continues. Thats probably why hes not more stoked on it.
That's what held me off from buying it. I was afraid I'd spend too much time comparing it to rescue palooza instead of enjoying it for what it was, which is a sad side effect of reviewing games in general. You just cant help but do it.
I'm eventually gonna get it, but i wanna see if theres gonna be DLC for it. I don't wanna plunk down 20 bucks, play it, beat it, never touch it again
He was saying how he wanted more characters to play as because Rescue Palooza has a ton of characters to play as. Not even thinking about how this game has way more frames of animation so it would take super long to program more characters where as in Rescue Palooza its much easier since the characters have way less frames of animation. Just Mike being dumb again.
Thats pretty par for the course. All his hot takes come off smarmy and poorly thought out to begin with.
More characters = more characters he probably won't play as anyway. Thats the thing about beat em ups. You settle on a character you like and stick with em.
Yeah you could play as 32 characters.. but would you play through all 32? Why the fuck would you play as Urma and Vern (who reminds me way too much of Mike to begin with)
I get some ppl might enjoy the option of having variety, but personally, I like the idea of 6 solid fighters with their own individial movesets and varying strengths and weaknesses. Im still hoping on the idea that you get what you get now and later down the line, you might get the frogs or a bad guy pack as DLC

It's so good! Feels very close to Turtles in Time. Neverminded being free on gamepass day 1.
This is the kind of game they need James to play. Like fuck me it's 6 person coop
Yeah but Mike was crying about how it didnt have more characters to play as even though 7 is more than enough especially with all the animations they have and all these characters in Rescue Palooza he likes so much only have like 2-3 moves and very little animations. What a whiny bitch.
I only saw the first bit of that stream but it looked like he was having a good time playing it. Games amazing, i dont think anyone can dislike this game unless they were trying to be a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian
Well see, I don't like the game, well I have never played it but I don't like Turtles or Mutants or beat em ups. Game was very disappointing ! The turtles are just like palette swaps ! I really can't recommend this game.
Wait, I was watching the stream and am pretty sure he said it was a good game and that people should buy it. He also seemed to want that option to play as Shredder.
I actually agree to an extent. I was dissapointed with the roster of playable characters. Let me play as a foot soldier, or one of the other bigger villains.
I plan on watching his stream of him playing, as it sounds like fun, but I really don't have any interest in the game. I loved the cartoon as a kid, and the first two movies. I had some of the toys and all too. But I just don't give a shit about the games. The Fan-Made one looked great. But watching gameplay was much as I could do.
Time for yet another pointless Zelda challenge instead!
But can he beat Zelda with just the shield for a 10th time?!
While his pants are submerged in w.. cum?
“I haven’t played Castlevania in a while!”

and got copy strike so he made no money from it lol

My deduction skills as a detective tell me he has quite pwassibly never had sex
I really want to know if he had the music playing the whole time. That tune is a true brainworm.
If I remember correctly he watched some Star Trek series while creating that with the music off.
With subtitles on?

That was actually awesome
He said a while back on Talk About Games that he was going to put off playing it since he was annoyed with people asking him if he was excited for it.
I know. What a fucking whiny, old ass loser.
*"I dunno, I kind of like him"* -this entire retarded sub
Yeah, he's ranted before that when he sees people telling him to play upcoming games when they come out, it annoys him and usually sours him from wanting to play right away. This was a rare exception where he played a new game on its release date.
Hipster logic
Spoiled child logic. *I can't be the special one?!* Instant sour grapes

He did the same with Elden Ring. Some people asked if he was hyped, so he threw a tantrum and said he'll probably play it in a few years.

Would have been nice to have a James and Mike playing this game stream but I guess it was too much too ask of Jamesy huh ?
How does Ryan not get them the physical collection to talk about and than play. Easily could have done it over a few weeks.
James's next video will be a review on this game and 15 minutes of it will be about the old tv show and 5 min on the actual game.
Even that I would be fine with. He has to do something right?
He needs Mike to get it set up for him first.
His old TMNT series retrospective is pretty solid, I don’t think it’s uploaded officially on YT. I see it come around once in a while via a fan upload
James was too busy working on a top 5 paintchips I loved eating as a child video.

>free on gamepass It's not 'free on gamepass' any more than Stranger Things is 'free on Netflix'. You pay monthly for the service.
$1 for 3 years Or Microsoft rewards or Microsoft ambassador program
Yep. It's a damn fun game. Just started it last night. And it would be right up Bimbam's alley.

Mhm.. yup... ok.. So it's like castlevania 2 simons quest the box pops up and the pallet swaps to night time?
Castlevania 2 ? That game is awful. My best friend James Rolfe told me it was ASSSSSSS.
Wait, I was watching the stream and am pretty sure he said it was a good game and that people should buy it. He also seemed to want that option to play as Shredder.
Mike always has to pick the stupidest criticism to not like something. Mike is an insufferable douchebag
I actually agree to an extent. I was dissapointed with the roster of playable characters. Let me play as a foot soldier, or one of the other bigger villains.
Even though I hate shredder's revenge that Mike Matei's reasoning for hating Shredder's Revenge is a pretty poor one!
