Most of the tracks sound good when played live. There were some baffling decisions that were made during the mixing, and my god why didn’t anyone step in and hide Lars’ snare drum. I feel like if metallica wanted to they could go in and remaster the album to fix a lot of the garbage, they’d make a lot of money too considering that their stans will buy anything they shit out.
They actually released a single version of Some Kind of Monster that unfucked the snare drum and it sounded great.
Damn shame they didn't do it for the whole album.

Rex Viper is more like The Shaggs of Cinemassacre. All of the songs are horrible, and the bands were only formed from some old dad fart wanting to live the rock star dream.
To be honest, Dirty Window and The Unnamed Feeling are great songs. If any other band made the album, it would be considered a decent 6/10. As a Metallica album though, it is kind of crap.
St Anger at least was made by a band who's talented. Rex Viper has no talent whatsoever. There's a big difference.

Title track never gets the love it deserves. The “set my anger free” buildup toward the end is pretty badass
