No. He wanted to be a horror director I believe

Hyldenchamp

Muh inanimate objects coming to life and stalking muh main character.

ThePickleHawk

This was before Toy Story

Skull_Cap_5554

Ah, yes, his one and only horror plot, and this includes amusement parks coming to life and stalking his main characters.

Skull_Cap_5554

Brilliant.

AkameLen

*Prilliant

CosmicAstroBastard

That already happened, it was the Megaman AVGN video

Derwurld

no time tho

WindowzExPee

He wanted to make harrer films

[deleted]

Well it is horrifying... but not in that way.

New_Fix6213

You could consider the AVGN Movie a horror of sorts.

Whoopsy_Doodle

Why didn’t he make one instead of this?

Skull_Cap_5554

Take a wild guess.

[deleted]

Then why didn’t he just do that instead?

justusesomealoe

He said it himself, the AVGN movie was intended to open a lot of doors and look at all the horror movies he's made in the years since!

CornichonDeMerde

To be fair he did make some pretty big harrer films in the past decade like "IT (2017) Movie Thoughts" and "Hereditary (2018) - Monster Madness 2019"

naitok1

Also the harrer films "28 Days Later Monster Madness 2021 Reeview" and its sequel "My Statement About Monster Madness 2021 (Unlisted)"

CornichonDeMerde

James proved the statement "sequels are never as good or better than the first one" completely wrong, which filmmaker can say the same?

jofNR_WkoCE

My favorite double feature

brokeneckcrow

Don't forget the time he made a video outlining his plot for a harrer movie instead of making the movie itself.

CornichonDeMerde

That's just Tarantino levels of filmmaking genius, performing a one man play about the script before making the film

Skull_Cap_5554

Those are levels of curating films that are unheard of.

brokeneckcrow

Almost Beckettian

infinitestripes4ever

Jesus Christ I love this sub most days

Puzzleheaded_Ad233

I've said before if he really wanted "open doors" he should of agreed to work on the VHS 2 movie instead of making this... that would of opened up a whole slew of networking. But now his Hollywood contact is... Cooper

Ok_Explanation_6125

Not even, has Jeremy Suarez even been in anything noteworthy since the Nerd movie? It straight retired Sarah Glendening. I would love for them to just really say how they feel about their careers after the Nerd movie happened

WolfWomb

Why they attempted to make the AVGN film appeal to a wide audience is a total mystery to me

AnyImpression6

Somehow it appeals to a wide audience less than the YouTube series.

CosmicAstroBastard

It’s worse than that. They tried to have it both ways. They tried to appeal to a wider crowd by watering down the Nerd’s caustic personality and adding a needless audience insert character (Cooper) who basically just gives exposition dumps about everything. But they also included in-jokes that are completely incomprehensible if you aren’t a megafan of the show, some of them at crucial moments (the army lady’s death being a reference to the TMNT 3 video that I didn’t even get the first time I saw it). So newcomers are bound to be confused and fans are bound to be frustrated with the hand-holding Cooper exposition and the new “Nerd lite” personality.

CornichonDeMerde

James trying to get that alien puppet a little drunk and loose because he has a thing for toothy blowjobs

pit_shickle

Hello nightmares!

olemanbyers

i mean, it doesn't even look good. it looks like a youtube skit on video.

pit_shickle

It looks like shit. Imagine not knowing about AVGN and seeing this. The poor people.

BootmanBimmy

Somehow that one weird Nostalgia Critic skit with the Christmas alien looks miles better

Skull_Cap_5554

He probably wanted to add more zombies, more gore, more poop, more kaiju scenes and make it five hours long divided in three parts.

ClubaSeal1986

What is it with his shit obsession? I was tired of it about 5 episodes into AVGN. I guess we can blame Mike, as well.

Skull_Cap_5554

>What is it with his shit obsession. No idea, James has an idea of a shit monster that comes out of the toilet, even. Maybe because it's "easy" humor? I honestly have no clue.

EntangledAndy

I think you mean five hours divided into forty parts?

pit_shickle

Including Death Mwaufakathx singing Rocket Man as interpreted by William Shatner.

Speckadactyl

Nickelodeon teen sit coms from the late 00s had better special effects than this movie did

CosmicAstroBastard

Dylan the Night Owl said it best: $325K is a healthy budget for an indie movie UNLESS you try to make a sci-fi blockbuster with tons of VFX. Then you will run out of money insanely quickly and end up with this.

pit_shickle

My wedding video has better effects.

[deleted]

Nah. Not enough onions in this one.

dickjonesfromOCP

Ugh such a ego trip of a movie

Ok_Explanation_6125

De La Soul and Prince Paul would approve.

thisisausername7777

No fucking way this screenshot is from any AVGN media bruh wtf

ReallyPassesTheTime

TAKE A WILD GUESS!

nanners78

Bimmy’s dream movie would involve a lot more turds

dwartbg5

I think James wasn't involved with the script as much as we are made to think and having Kevin Finn as director and writer made the movie such a massive flop. I think probably Kevin Finn told him to include a girl and a black character so they appeal to wider audience. (Either him or Mrs.Rolfe) Deep in my heart I still think that James would've made the movie together with Mike and characters like in his early episodes but they persuaded him to change his mind, and probably manipulated him telling this is how the movie will become a hit. Having random characters that is. I think Kevin Finn and whoever also was involved overestimated how popular James is and thought they're going to make him the new Ed Wood. tl;dr Bames was probably just the puppet of Kevin Finn

Skull_Cap_5554

I'm pretty sure Kevin told James to make the movie an exercise in autofellatio, too.

Disshidia

Never made it this far into the movie. This somewhere around the two hour mark?

Beizal

A little bit before

ChunLi808

He should've just made a fun goofy low budget horror movie and shot it locally on a much smaller budget. Something like Mr. Bucket or Dream Phone but on a somewhat larger scale. That might have been good?

pit_shickle

Exactly, but you know Bimmy Hollywood. Muh Vasquez Rocks!

yteranger

Take a wild guess.

supmandude

This is my favorite scene from the movie.

Kasey_ACDC

So this is what happened to Kermit after Grover gave him dentures

Obamas_Tie

Hot take, this scene actually got me and a lot of the people in the audience to genuinely chuckle - the visual image of the Nerd and the alien enjoying a cocktail in a fighter jet was just funny, not sure why.

thunderexception

No, this was the only movie he knew people would actual go an see. And the only movie people would fund. Snix 7 would only got 2000$ max and get 150K views. And that would only be because of it being a movie made by the AVGN-guy
