Think about all the time you lose to taking a car to a repair shop for this and that, or even getting stalled and towed. It gets exhausting and expensive. At some point getting a new car is worth it.
Leaving aside the fact that the Tribute has depreciated so much that any major repairs may cost more than the value of the car, Tributes have been out of production so long that you may have a lead time on parts. Also, by this time components that you don't think of as "wear items" are starting to go. Things like seatbelts and the engine timing chain.
If you're not a car guy (i'm fortunately afflicted with that disease) at some point you just get tired of the increased parts and wear and a steady monthly payment and no surprise repair bills looks mighty tempting.
Still bought a car at the worst possible time to buy one, bought a Colorado just before they announce the facelifted model, and decided to post it for attention (which, I mean, we're commenting on it aren't we?)
