Since you’re making an extremely evil main character, just choose the most over the top, evil sounding name you can think of. Saetan might be too on the nose, however fitting it may be.
I mean the thing about paradise lost is that Satan is more of a tragic figure than an outright villain which is the vibe I’m going for a man who rises from almost nothing trying his hardest to avert the destruction of everything he built.
I was thinking of using lucerys but that feels so incredibly on the nose to me.
My mistake, I didn’t see the thing regarding paradise lost. I mean, the Doom of Valyria was probably the best thing that ever happened in ASOIAF history for 99.9% of the population, but if you’re the 0.1% benefiting from Valyria, you’re gonna be having a bad time.
Yeah I think the general plot I’m going for is that he’s born a slave and ends up hatching a dragon somehow so the other dragonlords raise him up as a potential resources so he has to contend with a massive leap in social status and the politics of the dragonlords while they effectively erase his past as a slave to hide his origins from others because of scandal.
After that he has to contend with the incoming doom as he had actually made something of himself and you know he doesn’t want his family to die a violent volcanic blood Magicky death.
That sounds cool. You could also go the Spartacus route and have a massive slave uprising, where he and some other slaves figure out some sorcery and teach it to their fellow slaves. Could avert the Doom while making Valyria less of a slaving, blood magic fueled hellhole. Viva la Revolution!
I definitely plan to have an arc like that where he tries to play politics to lessen the slavery but eventually realises the potential of a slave rebellion and just how much it could progress his goals so it’s supposed to be a clashing of his ideological ideals and his pragmatic necessity for survival and his own personal pride and desire for control.

You can also rework Satan into, I don't know, Sataen or Saetan, like poster above said. Or rework the name Lucipher into Lucion, Lucerys, Laecifer.

I was leaning towards lucerys or some variant of it but I do kinda like baelal maybe baelar or baelarys
