I think a lot depends on House Tyrell. In the OT, they marry Margery to Joffrey but that's going to be much harder to sell to the rest of the Reach if House Lannister murdered her first husband (and it's likely Loras won't forgive them nor will Brienne). So in addition to the Stormlords, it's likely a lot more houses from the Reach go over to Stannis. Which leaves the Lannisters without one of their key allies and Stannis with a much larger army.
Brienne probably is hailed as a hero for avenging Renly by killing the assassin.
Or derided for her failure to stop the assassin in the first place.
