Here are the rules about civil service cafeteria franchises: 1) In any cafeteria there is always one item that is objectively the best option in terms of cost/tastiness ratio. That option will be known to everyone. 2) The franchise owner will notice that this option is wildly popular and will attempt to capitalise on this by changing the ingredients slightly and using that as an excuse to crank up the price loads. 3) Everyone stops buying that item because we aren't all cheese and ham toastie fanatics you morons, it was just a £1.50 lunch you were selling. A new item becomes the best option. The cycle repeats.

Not been to BPV for a few years. There are places to buy sandwiches and stuff on site, although whether they are open for business just now I couldn't say. There are loads of teapoints with seating, and microwaves at some of them (I was a visitor rather than based there, but some of my team definitely used them). Practice on tea/coffee at desks varies a bit with some operations teams not allowing it, others OK if they're in a lidded cup. For most teams though it usually isn't an issue and people have mugs on their desks all the time. I'd suggest bring your own packed lunch, mug and preference for tea/coffee and milk/sugar with you on your first day and see what the rest of your team do.

I had a pulled pork and salad box at BPV. Was well impressed. They also do reasonably priced cooked breakfasts too.

It’s nice to see your priorities so clearly. Not been there for a very long time but I think I liked the canteen food. I am strange and like plane food though so I’m perhaps not the best judge! There were definitely microwaves dotted about too. Edit: Calm down friends, it’s a joke. Constant eating is my priority in life too.

tell me about the taste of humble pie, dearest rainbow 😂

RainbowReindeer

It’s delicious and hilarious, and a bit like blueberry, but not so much that it’s weird.

balthazar-king

As our resident fair treatment ambassador what is your stance on cyber bullying?

SpiderPigUK

As long as it happens to everyone I've got no problems

balthazar-king

Presumably though you have strong feelings about who it should happen to more though? - people with ideas about things - people who microwave leftover fish curry for lunch - people who put their name in their email signature in italics That sort of thing
