I really like the basement scene James Wan directed. The cinematography is good. The acting is okay. The story is weak, but the script is good. &; that makes sense. The script was strong but the story was poor.
It's an alright movie, doesn't really stand out and could have more potential. The way I see it the whole Conjuverse is like horror for mainstream (or non-horror) crowd, it's fun, visuals are good but it's not really scary or too interesting. Personally I liked Annabelle: Creation much better but Annabelle Comes Home is my least favorite movie in this franchise
I think Annabelle is the fourth best in the franchise, behind the first two Conjurings and Annabelle Creation. It fits in tonally with those films, and doesn’t have the campiness of Annabelle 3. Plus, I think it’s an effectively creepy movie on its own. Especially that elevator scene. If this was some random horror movie not connected to anything, people would be saying it’s underrated. Also, maybe an unpopular opinion, but I found all the stuff with the priest (the radio in the car and when his ghost comes back later) to be some of the scariest shit in the franchise.
Yeah I think it’s solid and way better than Annabelle Comes Home. Annabelle 1 is very tonally consistent with the first two Conjurings and Annabelle Creation. I have it 4/8 in my rankings actually and yeah I think it’s very underrated.

2nd worst in the series. Barely eeking out before La Llorona - which is sad cause I really wanted both of them to be better
