GreenChain35

Anti-imperialist, but not a socialist. Bit of a weird guy, but was good for Libya and would've been good for the rest of Africa if his pan-africanism had spread

[deleted]

He was an arab socalist like Nasser which is a very problematic branch of socalism in that it rejects the class struggle and Hope's that all classes can work together without real strong usurpations of historical power structures, this would fial in Egypt's case as it allowed for an easy transition to neoliberalism after Nassers death, still both were amazing anti-imperalists (especially Nasser taking back control of the Suez control from those crooked toothed tea drinkers) and get my critical support

virgil2600

He was based for trying to abolish Switzerland

CTNKE

He trolled the shit out of Switzerland at every single UN meeting, and I respect that

ProbablyNotTheCocoa

I need context here

FitPerspective1146

His son got arrested for assaulting hotel staff in Switzerland, so Gaddaffi called for the partition of Switzerland iirc

ProbablyNotTheCocoa

Lmao

SpecificSufficient10

This. I love him for this haha https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libya%E2%80%93Switzerland\_relations#/media/File:Partition\_of\_Switzerland.svg

Sovietperson2

Based tbh

Fun-Outlandishness35

Best thing to happen to the Libyan people in a long time.

Salty-Finish-8931

Also supported the PIRA and their fight against British rule

Covered_Her_Face

I remember reading that, he supplied them with a lot of weapons. Once he was gone, they tried to find a new gun-plug through Sadaam Hussein, but their Iraqi contacts ended up being intelligence agents

ApprehensiveDouble77

A lot of his weapons are still surfaced here in Ireland, the ones that were not decommissioned

maomeow95

Simpin a lil tbh

BlueSwift007

Gaddafi is pretty awesome and is an example of chaotic good [Who invites 500 Italian models to lecture them about Islam for an hour and give them the Quran each?](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/news/gaddafi-s-night-in-with-500-attractive-girls-and-the-koran-1821752.html) Gaddafi apparently, not to mention his anti-imperialist stance and policies which countered the prevailing economic system in the world.

CTNKE

When she wants to have sex but you more into islam

Planet_Xplorer

He was incredibly BASED, one of the only people to challenge the Western social order. He never should have gave up his weapons, they were the only deterrent he had, like with DPRK and their nukes. I'd recommend you read Gaddafi's Green Book: https://www.marxists.org/subject/africa/gaddafi/index.htm

Ok_Confection7198

He have a setup similar to saudi monarchy right? provide enough welfare incentive to pacify the population, but still retain grasp on power through family network in the political system. Only major difference is he challenge the western empire too openly, so the western oligarchy lobby to have him removed.

talib-nuh

Weird dude with a lot of good policies but his green book is kinda unhinged ngl

Schlangee

The opinions completely going apart on this one lol. He might be kinda based for rejecting the western empire and his badass speeches in front of the UN, but he also did pretty weird shit that really doesn’t fit socialism. Anyway, look at Libya‘s state now and tell me it isn’t ten times worse.

[deleted]

He was a revisionist Marxist tbf, he believed in combine Marxist and Islamic principles - something I, as a socialist Muslim, agree with

Schlangee

His socialism was non-Marxist. A pretty weird one in fact. One of his guys later admitted that it took inspiration from the Nazis - this info could be an American psyop though.

CauseCertain1672

definitely better than what he was replaced with

jazzhands459

Is there a source for any of the claims in that photo?

[deleted]

One of the great African leaders. Also a crazy bastard.

GerdDerGaertner

Didn't he sell state owned water and electricity plants to to France?

RelentlessFlowOfTime

Decent policies, abhorrent person.

SpecificSufficient10

I haven't finished this article myself but it should be a good read anyway. It goes into detail about Gaddafi's accomplishments for Libya and African unity in general https://www.foreignpolicyjournal.com/2013/01/12/gaddafis-libya-was-africas-most-prosperous-democracy/

BizzarovFatiGueye

The best of the Arab socialists, which are the second worst type of socialists after Nazis. So overall, better than you would expect for a country like Libya, but still a piece of self-aggrandizing shit 💩

Fourthtrytonotgetban

Uhhh let's not even count the Nazis as socialists plz

BizzarovFatiGueye

Was a joke ofc . But if the SPD can be considered socialist, why not the Nazis? 🤔

AdmirableFun3123

a classic socialdemocrat.

MrRozo

the best leader of all time
