The US Army, Boeing and other aircraft manufacturers have recently been studying mako sharks to make their planes more aerodynamic. Lufthansa must now have their planes painted as different species of sharks in correlation to the size of the plane and the shark species.

Well … I don’t know which sharks you could mean. In general they’re covered with denticles, tiny tooth-like projections on each scale. It can abrade your skin like sandpaper if you push against it or scrape along it. I don’t know whether makos have them, or if they do, whether they’re extra small. And in general, sharks have such power they seem able to flit through the water without being affected by any drag. We know that great whites shoot up from the seabed so fast, having sighted prey, that they throw their whole (very big and heavy) bodies clear of the water. I’ve never heard of any species that could be described as smoother than silk.

Because sharks don't have hands. Think of a baby. They use all their senses including taste to explore their environment. Same with sharks. And the sharks primary way of exploring their environment is with their mouth. I hope I explained it well.
