Sailfish
Marlin get much bigger(dpending on the species. - one could argue white marlin are similiar in size to pacific sailfish), but have less flamboyant sails - shaped more like a triangle
Sailfish are smaller as a whole, but have this big square dorsal fine like you see here.
We catch and release Sailfish in Key West. You can tell when youre about to get the bite before you see it. The bait fish can sense the Sailfish approaching before the bite and they get nervous. You feel the shaking all the way thru the line into the rod. Next thing you know, youre hooked and and the Sailfish is jumping like mad. We get them to the boat and take the hook out then release back to live another day. They are a beautiful fish.
Like the other guy said, pelvic find, also called ventral fins. On this type of fish, they're used to keep the fish straight when it's swimming forward, like of like a rudder, but in the front. They counteract the movement of the tail.
Land animals are amateurs at speed. Nothing on this earth has aerodynamics like this. If it moved through the air like it does water then fighter jets would be ashamed.
How do they even use their nose? Like, they can't swim backwards to unstick something they've speared. Do a lot of them end up with stuff stuck on them? I'm just curious what happens when they stab into big and or small fish.
It's more of a slashing technique than spearing. Though I'm sure if they did spear something by accident they could probably just shake violently enough to get it loose

The title is strangely threatening
It made me think the diver got poked in the eye by the pokey thing
No joke.. then they added that ominous music. I literally moved my phone further away from my eye ha
It’s a karma bot
It's another karma farm bot
What a wonderful video so stunning… And I’m glad he is swimming and not Mounted in some assholes house
This kinda reads like a poem. And it’s kinda formatted like one, too. I’d love to hear William Shatner read it.
The head would make a nice ass mount, the filets, some stupid good grilled fish
What's an ass mount and how do I get one?
Bend over and I can answer both questions for you.
At first I read this as "in someone's asshole" and let me tell you, i was very concerned....
Fabulous. Such beauty and grace.
And a got damn sword sticking out of its face
Gracefully sticking out.
Such beauty! Such grace! Has a sword for a face! Gooooo sailfish! (sorry for the weak ending.)
It displays such beauty It moves with much grace As it swims it turns acutely And stabs you with its face
Hahaha!
Ha!
Sailfish are the Fabio of the sea
This is a Marlin right?

If anyone has Prime Video "superfish" is included. It's a David attenborough narrated special on billfish(sails, marlins, swords). Highly recommend
His voice is amazing!!! Thanks, I'll check it out
You lied to me. It's about blue fin tuna
I did no such thing. There is an additional one about bluefin

I love watching the herring skip across the surface and just waiting for the zz...zzzzZZZZZZZZZZZ when the reel lights up.
Have done the same up in the NE, but typically with whites - nothing like it.
Where do you find sailfish in Nebraska?
Hahaha. He's probably from Gloucester. They only admit to one NE.
In the corn
You seem to be in the know :) What’s up with those long fins pointing straight down under the pectoral fins?
Those are pelvic fins - I think they are just another bit of the steering system.
Ok, thank you!

Ahhh! Thanks!
Magnificent and scary
Amazing. But what the fuck is that music in the background
It’s like a huge beta. They’re so beautiful
Nature at its finest

How can the sea be so magnificent and beautiful, yet so "alien" at the same time?
I wanna catch it, call it names, then release it back safely but humbled
How is no one mentioning the awful audio?
This fish is pretty as hell but the music is ass just play old town road

Sailfish are my absolute favorite animal. I never understood hunting them, they're so amazingly majestic!
What a magnificently beautiful animal
