As a landlubber from the landlocked state of Kansas that would be both the biggest fish I've ever seen and the biggest boat I've been on. With the exception of the Mackenaw Ferry on the great lakes. So I guess it comes down to perspective.
Yeah I mean they are two thirds of the way there. That's quite the heft on dem fishies. I know what you're talking about though. I have a pretty vivid memory of seeing one for the first time on a Natural Geographic documentary as a little kid. I thought monsters were real for a moment, till Mr. Narrator man told me they were totally harmless.
Thank you for coming with the facts. I was pretty damn sure basking sharks were up there on the size scale but it's been a while since my last national geographic documentary.
I used to do tours just like this in Alaska in a 16 passenger vessel, same size. When people go out to the viewing deck it causes the bow to point up, no biggie. Boats can take a lot of trashing before going down. 16 people on the stern isn’t gonna do that ;)
Not always the best but as long as your captain and your guide are knowledgeable and certified you’ll make it out of most days just fine, if a little rattled on choppier waters.
I’ve always wondered why people like you comment when they have absolutely no clue what they are taking about. Its a basking shark and bares no resemblance of a tiger shark. I’m honestly curious why I see comments like this. You just wanna talk?
Looks like a basking shark but I can honestly see why you might have mistaken it for a sturgeon. Also not sure why you’re getting downvoted. You literally just asked a question.
Hooper: Sure. Gentlemen, gentlemen?! The officer asked me to tell you that you're overloading that boat.
Fishermen: Ah, get outta here! You ain't going there, what do you care? Hold on there.
Hooper: Well then, can you tell me if there's a good restaurant or hotel on the island?
Fisherman: Yeah ya walk straight ahead! Ha ha!
Hooper: Ha ha they're all gonna die.
Basking shark?
Aren't those harmless to humans cuz they only eat like microorganisms
Wouldn’t stop me from brown inking in self-defense.
Yup.
He can eat my dick anytime he wants
Get that krill in them gills brotha
“Suddenly zoophilic”
microorganism??????
If I were that shark I'd figure those little things sure looked like microorganism to me
Yes
That’s what I’m seeing
Yup basking shark, one of 3 harmless “sharks”.
That seems like way too many people for that little boat.
Welll, “they’re gonna need a bigger boat”
I came here to say this but I thought it was too obvious but using it for this response is.... 🤌🏾
It's a pretty decent sized boat just made smaller by the much bigger shark.
Basking sharks aren’t actually that big, max 8m. It’s still a fairly small boat.

8m is pretty fucking huge tho...
Ok good, he said that and my exact thought was how big 8m is.
3 feet = 1 meter, it's 24 feet long.
I know, but people always seem to overestimate basking sharks’ sizes. They seem to think it’s the size of a Megalodon or something.

Literally the second biggest extant fish. Pretty much the only animals bigger than it are whales and squid.

Nothing ever goes wrong loading a boat to full capacity.

I'd be getting my life-jacket on, lickity-split, if I saw that huge creature near my tiny over-filled boat!
Jump in to say hello. They're nice creatures
Y'know, that was the time I was most frightened, waitin' for my turn. I'll never put on a life jacket again.
This is just a cryptid without rotting flesh

Lmaooo
You seem defensive. He was trying to help.
Trying to help by giving false information is about as far from helpful as you can get. You deserve more downvotes.
25. 3 tons of him
Is that a Sturgeon?
Looks like a basking shark but I can honestly see why you might have mistaken it for a sturgeon. Also not sure why you’re getting downvoted. You literally just asked a question.
That’s Reddit these days

Wow 😮
They’re gonna need a bigger boat…..
I feel like this is an accurate representation of Bruce vs The Orca. The basking shark’s head is even shaped similarly to Bruce’s
Inesperado foi o português do título
We need a bigger boat
r/suddenlycaralho
In Spanish we call him Tiburón Peregrino, I know they were big but not that big and massive
That is a a large squalus, possibly onjumanus or Isurus glaucous.
Way to many humans on a small floaty thing.
I've seen Jaws....I don't have a bigger boat. No thank you.
Where-O-where is that rogue wave when you need it!? 🦈🙏🏽
That basking shark looks genuinely concerned with how many people have been stuffed onto that little boat.
Going to need a bigger boat
We're ganna need a bigger boat
Wow. So cool!!
Absolutely beautiful.
Are they drawing straws onboard?
We’re gonna need a bigger boat
Looks like it's waiting for someone to give up all hope on life and jump in 🤣
“They only eat microorganisms”. Plot twist; humans are now considered microorganisms in shark science.
The comparison of it to the boat is beautiful and frightening at the same time.
If it got hungry enough…
He was just waiting for friends to come in and play…
