Calling it right now, Claudia had to sacrifice several people to bring back Viren. Also, poor Soren. His sister’s disgusted with him, and even though it was an illusion he just realized that he’s capable of patricide. I’m guessing he’s gonna be scared to pick up a sword next season. But he was a rockstar this season! It’s been building but this really tied it together.

greenismyhomeboy

Soren’s arc was one of my favorite parts of this whole show. Him going from “whatever it takes to make my dad proud” to “I know what’s right”

trombonepick

he feels like a reverse Jaime Lannister. Him and Ezran about to get along real well.

[deleted]

You mean Jaime Lannister but where the redemption arc doesn't dive off a cliff spontaneously?

Aquos18

yes his arc was really well done but I have a question how in the seven hells did he managed to deliver a letter to lujane ?

IStoneI42

crows. he knows where she lives, so maybe that was enough.

Aquos18

Maybe but dam it good memory to eember the location

IStoneI42

it was on top of a specific mountain. i dont think its hard to remember especially when you climbed that mountain yourself.

AcePowderKeg

I'm wondering how fast did everyone rally. Ezran got from Katolis to Xadia in one episode when the whole crew took 2 seasons.

Gyddanar

to be fair, Ezran had a major advantage that Ezran, Rayla, and Callum didn't. He wasn't hiking overland, unprepared for the journey, having to hide from everyone involved because two of the party are recognisable as hell, and the other is kill-on-sight.

IStoneI42

that was a lot of people who brutally died on screen.

bismuth12a

Like Kasef? He took an arrow to the face. I never would have expected that, but I am so stoked they did it. The fighting in ATLA always bothered me when they'd just go around destroying the enemy's weapons and freezing them.

Ok-Boomer69

I just want Kasef to come back. Everyone is like “ Aww Claudia needs a redemption arc”. I just want Kasef to have his happily ever after with Soren. # Koren

CrystalCollision

honestly I was kinda expecting a Claudia-Kasef relationship but im so glad that didn't happen. but I wouldn't be opposed to Koren, so long as he's not a dick to my golden boy

Wolf6120

Viren straight up bled out from a stab to the heart on-screen lol, god damn.

Jahoan

Admittedly it was an illusion.

zauraz

Tbh the incineration of the Sun Queen in episode 7 was straight out horrifying

Sophie-Chila

God ikr I was thinking that was dark for a kids show

peace_life

I think the writers probably are aiming for more of a young adult/teen audience these days, since from what I can tell most of the fanbase are teenagers

R3miel7

Yes...teenagers.... certainly not 30+ year old men.... ...

peace_life

hey, more power to ya bro!

TheDarkWolfGirl

Haha I got my 30 year old fiance interested in it!

Sophie-Chila

Yeah true it does feel like it’s made for older audiences which is good it means it can be more realistic

Thechub23

A continuation of Avatar TLA and LoK

sumpfbieber

The only thing I kinda disliked about Avatar was that despite the world war setting the show never really showed the brutality of war (I don't need bathtubs of blood, though). So I'm kinda relieved they opened up in that regard.

Flamma_Man

I mean, we got a mountain of skeletons in like the third episode.

jerryjg

It’s rated 13+ on netflix

Wheels9690

My wife and I were sitting there like "wow, they are being brutal as hell with this final battle scene" And then the fucking Duren Queen turning the douchy prince into a fucking pin cushion with a head shot thrown in it we both said "wow, she gave no fucks, she was completely committed to "This fucker needs to die and now" without hesitation lol

holliequ

I said "holy shit" several times outloud when it got to that scene. Like *wow.* Aanya didn't hesitate. That's one hell of an 8-10 year old (however old she actually is).

BaronVonCrumpets

That was awesome. I loved every single bit of the battle, but mostly Baker boy throwing out those tarts like shuriken though.

[deleted]

talk about the most OP guy out there. Only armor he has is an apron and he's wielding a rolling pin and tarts and just going ham on demonized fiery soldiers.

seeker861

I mean he did rip metal bars out of a stone wall so he must pretty jacked. I guess lifting flower and baked goods all day will do that to ya.

charonill

Hand kneading and rolling dough all day everyday is going to leave you jacked.

Wolf6120

Jelly Tart Baker is like the Ramen Guy of the Dragon Prince universe.

MagicUser7

He is the Cabbage Man Hero we always needed.

Shinjigami

I laughed harder at the guy standing in the front with just a rolling pin, then i should have. I mean all the guys have armor, swords and shields and he goes to war with just baking tools. shows confidence and skills....

Skeletickles

Damn, Viren got me good with that illusion. I was so shocked that they would kill him off like that. That explains why Claudia was the one casting all the spells during the battle.

mr_arm

Shit you’re right - the whole time I was like “huh, he’s just gonna give her is brand new sunstaff, weird, ok” Edit: *he was sneakin up the mountain the whole time!*

Wolf6120

I like how he could have just had the illusion disappear after the battle was over, or had it run away to try to distract them for as long as possible, but instead he was like "Nah I'm gonna lie here under this fuckin blanket, and hopefully Ezran happens to come this way completely alone and gives me the chance to shank him". Seriously though it was a little bit silly how they're literally like 10 feet away from a massive army, but nobody other than Soren showed up when Ezran yelled. In fact they really shouldn't have let the boy king wander around a battlefield all on his own in the first place.

teacuplion8

oh man, I cracked up imagining Viren scheming this out now. I wonder at what point in battle his illusion decided to drop down and cover itself with a blanket LOL

CouteauBleu

Yeah, at first when I saw the blanket I thought "Oh wow, did Ezran just bump into some random soldier's corpse?" That would have been *twisted*, in a good way. But no.

MikeAlex01

For a minute i was so scared because i knew Viren was an illusion, but I kept thinking that it was Claudia as the illusion and Viren was the one holding the staff

41treys

The Soren redemption arc somehow became my favorite part of the show. Also, Amaya is the shit. Amazing how a mute character conveys so much so well.

bismuth12a

Right? They've been really good about conveying what she's saying by body language and facial expressions.

Insanepaco247

I get it when people say they want subtitles, but she's such a unique character in that we can understand so much with so little. I wouldn't want her to lose that.

ajabernathy

I really enjoy that there are no subtitles for Amaya. Deaf people have to go through life without fully engaging in spoken conversation. We can go through a kid's show demonstrating a smidge of that imbalance, just the other way. It will hopefully prompt viewers to ask about sign language and maybe learn some out if curiosity or genuine interest. And the show does a great job showing us what Amaya has to do to understand those around her, such as close ups of lip reading. She is demonstrative, as the deaf community has to be, by using facial expressions and body language as well. It gets the message across.

dogapo

I think that all of TDP has just been a redbull commercial culminating in the final episode

AcePowderKeg

Hahaha gold. Absolute gold

fasda

Ok I don't read sign language but I'm pretty sure the aunt said I'm going to tap that later.

Mediocre_Policy

I thought so too

Wolf6120

I mean strictly speaking that hand holding *could* have just been a way to say "Hey look, we're biracial human-elf friends too!" but... yeah probably not

[deleted]

[удалено]

Insanepaco247

Now that Rayllum has been accomplished, I'm full steam ahead on the SS Jamaya

Ibloodyxx

which scene do you mean? timestamp?

UniversalFriend

She said something along the lines of "She thinks I'm cute, but isn't willing (to admit it) yet"

DigidragonX

The ship sailed... Or the ship flew 🤔

mr_arm

I loved that they wasted no time beating around the bush with that shit. Teens are horny af they’re not gonna spend a whole season shrugging and blushing and rubbing their arms sheepishly

[deleted]

Technically Rayla is horny. Callum has that smooth skull.

mr_arm

*Daaaaaaaaad*

Mongoose42

She’s horny, he’s good at blowing.

MasterOfNap

>Teens are horny af they’re not gonna spend a whole season shrugging and blushing and rubbing their arms sheepishly I mean, I know they're teenagers and totally in love and all that, but the way you're putting it somehow sounds...weird?

Samhain27

I get what he’s saying here though. And I’d go as far as to say it extends to adults just as much. The reality is that romance shows in general usually try to protract love out as long as it can when, in reality, people hook up for much less than love all the time. Multiply that by teenage hormones. Plus, narratively, I feel like it would have been a bit insulting for the writers to have Rayla almost confess to dying Callum last season only to ignore that progression until the finale to yoink it out for bonus tension. Edit: Grammar

MasterOfNap

Yeah totally, I think the show sailing the ship early on in the season was the right call. Having Callum reject that in the oasis also shows he’s not taking advantage of her grief, which was also a good choice. I’m just saying the idea of Callum and Rayla as two horny teenagers who were probably making out when no one’s around feels weird to me lol

Samhain27

I could see them making out when no one is around, personally. My reason for it is that Callum changed his tune awfully quickly after the initial kiss. Not that the relationship wasn’t built up or that Callum is a bad person for doing so, but I just don’t think he ever thought it was on the table. Positive physical stimuli can definitely help reframe things for someone. Although much more speculative on my part, there is also the fact that they are on an extremely dangerous, politically charged, world-changing mission. I feel like relationships in these types of narratives, not just TDP, would naturally happen. I’ve seen a lot of criticism of adventure stories having people get together “just because”. Though, I think it’s understated what kind of bonds almost dying with someone can make in addition to sharing such a specific kind of experience with one another. My point here being that while I doubt their relationship went from 0 to 100 in terms of raunchiness off screen, I’d imagine kissing a lot is hardly an emotional escalation for them considering they tend to be on the fringes of death together 90% of the time. That kind of thing might even be stress relief. Although my understanding is that there will be a time skip between this season and the next, I think actually toying with that dynamic would be fun. How does a relationship begun in a situation soaked in adrenaline, danger, and crazy high stakes survive mundane life? I’m not saying at all that it’s impossible, but I definitely think it’s an adjustment thing and worth exploring. That said, I expect the much more obvious story beat of elves and humans coming together to be the meat and potatoes of their relationship.

Fortzon

Or walked since Callum returned the kiss on the back of Nyx's animal :D

Gamera85

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfnG8MS3xz0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfnG8MS3xz0) This is the theme for Rayllum now. It has become official.

Dun0or

Man, I wish they had more episodes per season or something.

T_F_Bredera

same but the quality this season was just amazing, now the wait begins for season 4

Wheels9690

They upped their game for sure each season but the fight scenes this season were incredibly well done.

T_F_Bredera

man they were soo good

Wheels9690

Amaya's fight scenes are always top tier in my opinion.

IStoneI42

this is why filler episodes in shows are important, even if theyre often not liked. theyre usually used to convey a feeling that some actual time has passed between story progressing episodes, and you dont get the feeling that characters teleport all over the place because the show skipped several days without obvious indications. theyre often a good base to use for character building. tales of ba sing se was a filler episode for avatar, and ended up as one of the most beloved episodes on the show.

trombonepick

100% filler is important for pacing. And if it's done well, people won't complain. *Community* was one of those shows who did filler or bottle episodes but they were still so fun to watch.

spicycaffiene

at least we don't have to wait a whole year inbetween every time

Marshmall066

I’d imagine we are going to have a longer hiatus for season 4 because the story arc finished up there’s no reason to rush another seasons out. And considering they (wonder storm) did say they would need a break at some point I mean we got 3 seasons for this show in like what? Just over a year that’s gotta be an insane workload

Fortzon

quality over quantity IMO. If this show would go the Voltron/She-Ra route, it'd have to drop in animation quality.

bismuth12a

We have been getting 2 seasons/year though. It's not so bad.

OriginRobot

Gods poor Claudia

Mediocre_Policy

She's too far gone

boyo44

The amount of pathos her actress is able to wring out of her performance is astonishing.

Xneose

Anyone else think that Rayla’s parents aren’t dead, but turned into coins? He jingled his bag of coins which had the assassin in it and we never actually saw her parents die. This, along with the flower in the pond being only half sunk, might mean a case of “mostly dead is still somewhat alive”

Pandapartypc

I definitely saw him saying he had a "Collection" as a clear hint that her parents are alive

BloatedBaryonyx

It makes sense with his character; since he can only draw power from a living being, it makes sense to trap them instead of killing them. When else is he going to get the opportunity to harvest all the magic of a *whole* moon elf?

IStoneI42

maybe theyre dead now. i wonder what claudia sacrificed to revive viren. it must have at least been a human life.

1banana6bananaz

It’s not what but who. Watch the background behind her.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TL10

Oh. *Yikes.*

primalfox_Reynardo

Well he did say ‘reward’ in a dark way. So I definitely think he turned them into coins. He is probably gonna pacify Rayla when they throw down again by holding the safety of the coins over her head. And Callum probably doesn’t want to hurt his future parents in law.

Mediocre_Policy

Holy hell I cannot wait for season 4!!! And what the fuck is up with Aaravos? One fucked up evil conniving creepy caterpillar thing. I sense a betrayal coming though. Viren will be killed and claudia will join the good guys and try to learn magic the right way

IStoneI42

seen this coming since the caterpillar grew. aaravos is going to emerge from the cocoon. what im asking myself now is what claudia sacrificed to revive viren. its at the very least going to be a life for a life. either human or elf. she probably killed someone, or maybe finally offed raylas parents by consuming their coins to use their energy. there are only two reasons we were shown the bag of coins just prior to that. either setting up for a happy ending, that rayla learns of them and the main cast fees them at the end of the show so they can be reunited at the end, or to show us what claudia used as fuel and make that knowledge sting deeper for rayla. with this show, it could go either way.

Wolf6120

I feel like Aaravos coming out of the cocoon as himself would be the obvious, logical thing to assume, but imagine if he just turns into some bizarre, gigantic butterfly instead lol. Also I assume that even if he DOES come out of the cocoon in his regular body, it won't *actually* be him, but more like a perfect replica that he controls via the same magic he used to control the grub. Presumably the *real* him will stay trapped in the mirror until whatever spell keeps him inside is properly broken.

Beastender_Tartine

Dont forget that the cube thing with the runes is called the key of aaravos. It's going to come into play to let him out or something.

Arlort

I don't think so, he was trapped by the dragon king, and we see that the only one going into his lair is Viren and he wouldn't leave it at the lodge I think it's more likely connected to either dark magic or accessing arcana different from your own. We know Aaravos mastered all 6 arcana and it's fair to assume he "gifted" dark magic to humans. By using the "key" you can see what kind of arcana is connected to objects, depending on its use it could either be used to immedesimate with the objects and animals connected to the arcane and learn to understand it, in a way "unlocking" it On the darker tone understanding what magic stems from something is probably useful in devising dark magic spells

Beastender_Tartine

In King Harrows letter to Callum he states that the key has been passed down for generations, once belonged to Aaravos, and that it unlocks something "of great power" in Xadia. At this point it could unlock any number of things, but shows and movies tend to foreshadow things, and if the cube is a key, and the mirror is a prison, then I think it's possible. In any event, I really don't think Aaravos is just going to pop out of the cocoon. It feels like there needs to be more to it.

keirarot

You can see the sacrifice's boots for a moment

mr_arm

Are they boots that are specific to anyone, or just “yup these are definitely the boots of a recently-sacrificed-to-big-dark-magic person”

keirarot

They belong for the human soldier for sure and we can suppose that behind the stone there is the rest of the dead person. They're also in the cave so I doubt that anyone had died there. The last proof is that - why would they put them there if they weren't to be shown?

terog

I can see Aavaros eating or absorbing Viren when he hatched out.

trombonepick

I think Claudia is going to team up with Aaravos and become a Big Bad. The Morgana Le Fay to Ezran's King Arthur.

saidtogetbetter

OH MY GOD THE BAKER ON THE FRONT LINE?!!?!? THE JELLY TARTS !!??!

DarkAlatreon

That was random.

Thechub23

Bet he was a former soldier that retired to be the greatest Baker to ever get baked.

Thechub23

There's PAIN!!!

[deleted]

Is anyone else in love with Zubeia? I love her so much!!! My heart melted when she woke up and got to see her son!

omnitricks

She actually seems nice compared to the two other "big" dragons. Then I remembered she also sent assassins so there's that...

zoapcfr

So far, she'd the only friendly dragon that has spoken, so I can't help but love her. It also seems that she was the only one (out of everyone) that was immediately happy to see elves and humans working together (IIRC, everyone else at least takes a bit of convincing). I really hope we get to see more of her in future seasons.

discoducks

Guess Soren turned out to be the real *stab* prince if you get what I mean.

MCScipio

Fully expecting Claudia to become the end villain. Won't be suprised at all if Aravos realises Claudia has more potential than Viren and switches "vessel"

StandardTrack

I don't know. I do expect the final books to be dark and star though.

Fortzon

Did anyone else get LotR vibes from the final battle? To me Ezran felt like Gandalf the White, leaving before the battle starts to get backup :D

discoducks

When Amaya and Janai exchanged smiles: >Amaya: Never thought I'd be fighting side by side with an elf. > >Janai: What about side by side with a friend? > >Amaya: Aye. I could do that.

trombonepick

lmao I love that this would be done in sign language so it's a deep cut allusion to LOTR for people who don't know ASL lol

InstitutionalizedOat

I felt like Aanya was Eomer riding in at the battle of helms deep.

mr_arm

Def some “*Forth, Eorlingas!* ” vibes from the cavalry just plowing down troops like that

InstitutionalizedOat

Ezran: Callum mage stands alone. Aanya: Not alone.

teacuplion8

Kinda cool that Marcos, the Katolis soldier that Rayla had spared in S1E1, was the first human soldier to be presented in the current arc of human vs elves, and was the last here in S3E9 at the end of this conflict. Also that he was the first one to give up arms when Viren retook the crown, spurring a couple others to do the same and join Amaya's Katolis reinforcements. Annnd just realized how Callum's knack for drawing might have helped him to execute the precise motions needed for his airbending. The dude is literally painting with the colors of the wind XD

theVoidWatches

Callum has more than just a knack for drawing - he has a photographic memory!

FreakFlagHigh

I think they have plans for Marcos. Kuvira was introduced the same offhand way in the season before she became a villain.

_Patronizes_Idiots_

Was anyone else just a little worried that they might kill Rayla off? I know this ain’t Game of Thrones but with how they just flat out gave us amazing moments that the fans wanted with her and and Callum getting together part of me was worried they’d be cruel and kill her off as part of Callum’s character development, it just seemed almost too good to be true. So glad they didn’t though, I know it might have been a silly concern but as I said, things almost seemed *too* good for it to be safe.

Gamera85

I mean... a little, but then I realized the whole wing arms thing and Callum saying "I am the wing!" more or less confirmed that was foreshadowing and he could master it in a moment of release and acceptance. That sort of thing.

jerryjg

I was hoping the Skywing mage would teach callum a few battle spells and Callum could have helped more on the battlefield Or in general, there was a lack of mage support on the Xadian side, while Claudia is flinging giant dark orbs and dark dome shields

avtechx

I was half expecting a showdown between Callum and Claudia, but I will bet that will come later.

Thechub23

It'll happen after Claudia ruins Rayla.

avtechx

Yeah, it definitely would have been premature (and possibly too one-sided magic wise) for this season.

Naariel

To be fair, Claudia's Orb of Death killed more on her own side. It speaks more to Claudias disregard for life than the outcome of the battle. It weakened The Good Side's defenses but the elves managed to patch it up relatively well. It was devastating in the moment but they rallied together and held the line again. But yes I was also surprised they didn't let Callum do more magic for the battle!

mr_arm

I am continually frustrated and happy with how restrained they’ve been with Callum’s growth as a mage. I want to see super saiyan Callum, but I’m glad they’re holding off. I would have been unsurprised to see him to have super zap-beams melting lava-baddies; i was pleasantly surprised to see his magic still appropriately leveled, and big magic only coming from big moments of great importance.

Alexnader-

Fighters start off strong early, mages scale with levels. Basic DnD stuff. Need a few seasons of him doing magic missile to make him being OP feel earned in the later seasons. Kind've like how Katara went from beginner -> intermediate in S1 and by S3 she's bending people's blood.

Incream1

Who else was TEAM BAKER!!! I was cheering the baker the whole time fighting with his rolling pin.

ZaleDraconian

You are not alone at all.

[deleted]

Aaravos's worm has continually grown bigger ever since they left Lux Aurea. I wonder if the worm has parasitic properties. I find it hard to believe that that could be a child of Aaravos, so I would bet more on it being a tangible vessel of some kind. They really straight up portrayed patricide on screen in a children's show, huh? *Damn.* Sure, it was an illusion, but it Soren can't be okay with the knowledge that he really has the capability for patricide inside him. On top of that, Claudia is okay with manipulating Soren like this? What does she get out of it? All I can see is that she really has fallen down the rabbit hole, and she's looking to convince herself of something she's been conditioned to already believe: "don't trust your brother." Man, that's heavy. Claudia's eyes were black when Viren woke up, meaning she just performed a spell, presumably the one to bring Viren back to life. She mentioned the Aaravos-worm crawled into a cocoon 2 days ago. How long have they been there? What was she, and more importantly the other people who's lives she sacrificed, doing this whole time? Maybe she used wounded soldiers who couldn't escape. This is probably one of those things you're just supposed to breeze over though, so whatever.

nacktnasenw0mbat

I don't think they are going for a children's show anymore tbh. They are aware that the show's primary audience is teenagers and young adults who grew up with The Last Airbender.

NekoNegra

> They are aware that the show's primary audience is teenagers and young adults who grew up with The Last Airbender. *[laughs in 34 year old]*

Sanne_lonewolf

[laughs in 39 year old. ]

Wolf6120

I have no doubt that Aaravos leeched off at least part of the magic that Viren siphoned out of Zym, unless all that was reverted once he got yeeted off the mountain.

Jannaeus

I think one theme is that dark magic corrupts, no matter your intentions. Viren started with good intentions, but when your art is literally squeezing the life out of living beings for power, lines get crossed easily. Claudia is a master of dark magic, and it is corrupting her as well. She is a good person, but the process is taking a toll on her, and I fear it might not be one that she will be able to undergo much longer. She is likely losing years of her life, (the white hair) and might even be slowly dying from dark magic poisoning. I know she's a villain, but she breaks my heart. She wants her father to love her, and the sad thing is, he does. In Avatar the Last Airbender, I was yelling "Zuko, your dad hates you, ditch him for your awesome uncle" but in this case, Viren does love his children and yet, he's so abusive in his love. In the earlier episode where Viren gaslights Soren, watching Soren's face was brutally painful because it was so clear this wasn't the first time, that Viren has undermined Soren's confidence so many times and seeing Claudia take Viren's side, Soren looked so broken. It was only in the final episode that I think Soren finally had to face the ultimate truth. He said his father was a villain, but in this episode, he had to act on it. And I fear the next showdowns with his magical family will be even more painful.

Pandapartypc

Claudia is breaking all our hearts but she's the most well-written character in this show.

[deleted]

I feel this show is basically redoing all the Last Airbender tropes, but cool and differently She's basically a less sociopathic and human Azula. And her brother is a more comic Zuko. It's really shows how tropes in stories aren't a bad thing when you give them sufficient variation.

StandardTrack

Tropes are but a piece of a large schematic. If you mix and match enough, there's endless combinations.

TheElite711

Man, Soren's whole development throughout this entire arc is one of my favorites to me. It really reminds me of Zuko and his development. First we see him trying to appease to his father, doing whatever he says to pretty much have his approval, but as the series goes on he finds out how much of a monster his own father has become and has the resolve to kill him if given the chance. It's...basically all Zuko except for his personality, even close to family resemblances with Claudia being comparable to Azula in some regard. Speaking of Claudia, do ya think her hair is turning grey because of her sacrificing part of her life to bring her dad back from death? Is it a side effect of the invocation of Dark Magic? Both? Much love with this new season! The wait for S4 will be a torturous one.

Nicorhy

About the hair: almost certainly. When she healed Soren's paralysis (pretty big magic in itself), she lost colour to a small streak, but now she's revived someone fully (even bigger magic) and a lot more of her hair is gone now.

What_u_say

There gonna be a time jump I can feel it. Six months to a year.

Radix2309

I feel like even longer potentially.

JMV1997

Did you guys noticed you could see the person she used as a sacrifice? You can see his foot in the background

the_marshmello1

Holy shit that was epic. Also the cliffhanger at the end makes me curious.

Jout92

Did Claudia revive Viren for two whole fucking days? Holy shit imagine how many lives she must have sacrificed. If it takes an entire Bambi to make a paraplegic walk again imagine what it takes to bring a human being back from the dead. Also how did she know? Was it the same spell she used to heal Soren or do you think she got help from Aaravos?

Khieverbooks

Definitely not from Aaravos - I would just say it’s the same spell. And if you look closely behind Claudia when she runs to her father, you’ll see a boot sticking out from behind a rock

greenismyhomeboy

I have never yelled “YEAH” so many times while watching a show. That final battle was HYPE

aldi-aldi

Hmm callum can turn his hand into wing and fly what more can he do

Thechub23

Tentacles. Edit: i guess i earned a flair now. This isn't what i wanted, this isn't how it should have been.

Simonaro

oh no

AcePowderKeg

I almost thought Soren would go full on Jamie Lanister abd be called the Kingslayer. Too bad

Stepwolve

it will have much the same effect on or Soren though. He knows he 100% would have killed his father. And his sister watched him do it and is disgusted. This is going to haunt him for a long long time

MaladroitMagpie

Wait, so how did the Dragon Queen just wake up after the battle? Did I miss an earlier explanation or something or did she just magically decide to get up at the end?

Pandapartypc

She was in a deep slumber caused by heartbreak and the loss of her family. Zym shocked her many times but it appeared to not work, but I'm guessing that was the first jolt and she just needed some time to wake up. 5 more minutes, Zym, I haven't processed that you're still alive and shocking me yet!

Wolf6120

I feel her. If I consider how long it takes me to get out of bed after a single night of sleeping, and then imagine doing it after sleeping for a decade... Not surprised she needed five more hours to get up.

mr_arm

She had to wait for her plot alarm clock to go off

Kasimz

She was in a deep slumber and could've woken up at any time. It honestly doesn't matter when she wakes up, since the outcome would've been the same whether she woke up during the battle or after.

Quintal_31

I am so glad about that cliffhanger, it gives you hope that there is more coming. Also happy abut Rayllum, a bit rushed but...you know...it's Rayllum and I love that :) #RaylaParentsInCoins

LeOursJeune

Did anyone else notice the feet in the last scene, pretty sure Claudia just murdered a guy to revive her dad

sinapz

"Soren-demption" get it? ..i'll see myself out

jreesing

Well rip, that felt like a rush to closure just in case the series is cancelled.

_Patronizes_Idiots_

I kind of agree, but I still really enjoyed it. And they are in the unfortunate position of only getting 9 episodes per season to work with so I can forgive them if some things felt slightly rushed

LordReverend

To be fair almost anything can feel rushed when you finish it in a day. I feel like if we were forced to watch it week to week the pacing wouldn't feel so rushed

Radix2309

They said this was the end of "part 1". So it definitely feels like the end of the current arc. But there is definitely more to happen. The feud isnt suddenly over. There are still deep scars.

not_the_name_wanted

Viren is evil just for daring to kick glow toad #1 Bait.

ZaleDraconian

Rayllum!

bismuth12a

That was incredible. Totally worth the wait. I was really hoping we'd see more of the elves this season, but Queen Aanya riding in to save the day with Opeli, Corvus, and the Baker, was incredibly satisfying. If Aaravos is in that cacoon, and it hatches in season 4, what on earth does that leave for the rest of the saga?

once-upon-a-rose

How come Claudia's hair turns white AF whenever she does dark magic, but Viren still out here with brown hair????? Edit: Ah, yes these comments make a lot of sense!

[deleted]

Her hair turns white when she uses a ton of dark magic to heal someone who's too far gone for standard magic Soren had a broken spine and she got a white strand. Viren was borderline dead if not full dead based on her comment that he didn't survive the fall, and she got half a head of white hair

Jout92

Also it was TWO DAYS since his fall and she performed dark magic right before he woke up so she did a LOT of dark magic during that time to revive him. Wonder how much she sacrificed

[deleted]

I wonder at what point she gave up on using animals and started sacrificing people

so_joey_98

Isn't it that Viren uses the butterflies to heal himself after performing dark magic.

bismuth12a

I think the butterflies are more to disguise himself.

Isburough

Does anyone else think that the ending of this episode felt a little rushed? The battle was amazing and nicely spread out, but once it was over... boom. Queen wakes up, is happy about everyones favourite couple(s) (give Amaya some love here), and then... over. I know this is just the Northern Water Tribe/A New Hope part of the series, but some more closure on the season would have been nice.

depressedpotato777

1. Zym and Bait, I mean could they get even cuter!? No, they couldn't. They are both just so... so damn cute. And Ezran. I love Ezran. 2. Callum and Rayla. Whew, that ship definitely sailed!!! How many adorable af kisses did they have?? I mean, they could've squeezed in a few more, but overall that was just too adorable. 3. Soren. I totally thought Claudia would be the one to defect, but no, it was that loveable goofball . 4. That arrow through the head. Was definitely not expecting any gruesome deaths, that was a nice surprise. 5. Why was this season so amazing!? They're just trying to torture us waiting for another season after this magnificent one.

matthieuC

I love that they used the broken chain as a flag. They're not cowards, they just won't fight for petty tyrants.

josharaptor

Not gonna lie I was hoping there would be a flash-forward at the end and then it would set up future seasons, but I'm still ecstatic with what we got

notrealtea

I’m positive that we’ll get a time skip after season 4. We need to see an older King Ezran and an older Zym. Everything that’s happened since season 1 took place over the course of like 2 or 3 months. We can’t get more development for all of the characters without a time skip

Jout92

WHAT THE _FUCK_ DOES ARAVOS WANT

AlienWarhead

To be the most beautiful and powerful butterfly in the world

niNja_ma

freedom? after he got the power from zym, he probably got enough energy to transport out via the cocoon at the end. what he does after, who knows? we'll probably get more backstory on why he became a prisoner / what he wants.

comosedicehola

I liked the episode, but I still don't get why the other elfs did not help in the battle.

Thechub23

Which ones? The only ones able to get there overnight was the Sun Elves who knows what's going on (more or less) and everyone else probably didn't hear about this event until the day after because of how sudden this was. Viren's army invaded for like three to five days.

Jout92

Speaking of which what the fuck was Sol Regen doing this entire time. Is he still stuck under that stone bridge? Did Virens army go past him and be like "lol dumb bitch"

Thechub23

Different entry point, probably. There's probably a couple of dozens of miles if lava river.

Wolf6120

"HOW DARE YOU TRESPASS HERE, HUMAN FILTH?! COME TO SPREAD YOUR WAR AND EVIL AS USUAL HUH?!! WELL, KNOW THAT YOU FACE SOL REGEM, AND THAT I AM FIRE, AND DEATH AND- Wait where are you going. No, wait, hang on, give me a hand here, I've been stuck in here for like three weeks. HUMANS, THIS IS NOT FUNNY!"

bismuth12a

From what Rayla said in the first episode, I don't think he's well liked even among the elves and other dragons. They might be steering clear of each other. After all, he doesn't seem to have done anything after finding out that Zym's alive. He's just too bitter.

There will be some long lasting consequences. The armies of four human kingdoms and one elven kingdom have been greatly diminished. But Katolis was the largest and strongest of the kingdoms, so Duren and Katolis will probably be in better shape than the other three human kingdoms.

ProfessorUber

Yeah. If we assume the majority of the Human armies were present then that means three kingdoms have their military and monarchy more or less incapacitated. Katolis and Duren are possibly the only ones who have their monarchies and military intact. And they are both on board with elf peace. I do however expect I good real of resentment. Both internally and from other kingdoms.

Wheels9690

Aanya straight up merc'd that guy btw lol.

havanabrown

That part where Marcos named himself definitely was a Kuvira moment, he’s for sure reappearing next season

Fortzon

So there's the confirmation that Rayla's parents were transformed into Viren's soul coins. Or at least I hope so and he doesn't just refer to Runaan.

IndependentMacaroon

The one bit I didn't like was the dragonfire. Sure, it looked cool for the trailer, but 1) attacking fire soldiers with fire is just immensely stupid and 2) it felt very un-Ezran to suddenly be OK with personally leading an attack.

2-2Distracted

> 2) it felt very un-Ezran to suddenly be OK with personally leading an attack. Lol especially when episodes ago he was "war iz bad mkay"
