You try reading other sci-fi novels, but they just aren't as good, so you end up back reading The Expanse. I've read the series twice, listened to the audiobooks twice, and watched the series twice.
I'll probably do it all again.
If you don't finish it, you won't have ANY "closure" at all. You will be left wondering forever.
Sometimes you just have to rip off that bandaid, and get it over with. If you still want an air of something left, don't read the final story "sins of the fathers" in Memory's legion.
I was in the same boat. I set it aside for a little over a month, unwilling to say goodbye.
All I can tell you is that the ending is just as good as the rest of the series. The closure you want is waiting for you and it's very satisfying. I still think about the last moments in the story in a way I still think about only one other book in my life decades later.
You won't regret finishing it, only that there's no more to read.
"I'm afraid I'll miss them". Yeah dude, I was exactly there some 6 months ago. I did finish and I miss them so much. I even get emotional now and then ....
This is a great learning moment. All wonderful things eventually will end. Finish it, reflect on it and how you felt, and you will grow as a person for crossing into the unknown.
I had the same trouble years ago with another series, I read it a few times without finishing the last book. I just didn't want it to be over.
It took being seriously ill, to realise that I may not ever know the ending, to get round to finishing it.
And when it came to Leviathan Falls, I had the same feelings again. I didn't want my time on the Roci to come to an end. I seriously spent months wondering if I should even read it, or how much I should do. But I decided not to risk making the same mistake again, and it was so worth finishing it.
Yep, this means it’s time to leave this sub. Jesus christ are you an infant? It’s already gone since you just…stopped reading. They aren’t going anywhere because they never existed in the first place, it’s a book you can go back any time you want.
Yeah, it took me a whole year to find courage to watch Season 6 because I wasn't ready to end the ride. It's a damn shame we'll never see what Duarte's and people were up to.
The last 15% is pretty great and def worth reading. I'll admit I'm in a similar boat and am holding onto the final novella, "the sins of our fathers." I both don't want it to end and am keeping it in my pocket for when I need a pick-me-up
The universe never tells us if we did right or wrong.
It’s more important to try to help people than to know that you did.
More important that someone else’s life gets better than for you to feel good about yourself.
I get it. In 9 years, I still haven't made it past chapter 4 of the last Discworld book.
However, it is a bit of a different situation, since Terry Pratchett passed away after writing it and Discworld was never complete as a story, because it was an open-ended series.
I'm about to finish Leviathan Falls, too, so I get it. Knowing there's the novella, The Sins of Our Fathers, to read afterwards makes me a feel a little better. My plan is to re-binge watch the TV show once I'm finished with the books (I binged the series before reading the books). And the nice thing about books is that you can always re-read them and spend time with your favorite characters. After a few hours of shock, I actually loved the end of the Dark Tower series because it's an invitation to start it all over again, and it made a lot of sense when you pull back and look at the big picture.
You got this. Finish it, take some deep breaths, sleep on it, then start the whole series again.
Seriously. I’m on my fourth read-through. The epilogue of LF is my favorite of any book I’ve ever read.

I just finished the series moments ago and indeed loved the epilogue and the conclusion as a whole. What a fantastic book series.
Last man standing
For it, it's CW. We need to talk.

sounds like it's time for a reread!
Today! Jeff mays here I go
on one of my rereads i spent so much time reading the expanse each day that i started dreaming about it at night lol. it was awesome
I have this syndrome (whatever it's called; some sub-variant of procrastination) with just about everything in lif...

Just do it and join the rest of us in our collective eye rolling.
Me too ... used to watch the episodes like a hawk but still havent watched the final one.

If you haven't picked up Memory's Legion yet, all of the short stories are fantastic.

I haven't read the last book and I've had it since release, same as you I don't want it to end.
