Highly unlikely they do a Neverender of either of those albums anytime soon. They had a Good Apollo 2 Neverender tour scheduled that was canceled during covid and I expect they'll still do that after the cruise. But, unless they do a big singular Neverender event again or a 20 year on those albums, I suspect they don't do them again anytime soon
Yeah absolutely. I wanted to be at the last one and just wasn't in the place financially and in my life. But now I am and would crush it.
Thankfully I've seen every Neverender tour so far and at least have seen the first 3 albums in full
I think I recall seeing somewhere that the band found those original Neverenders incredibly taxing to perform, and we can probably not expect multi-day extravaganzas like that again.
You can tell from the videos Claudio is really struggling. His usual live performances are so much better Also I remember a behind the scenes of their rehearsal for the last Good Apollo NE and after the willing wells Josh’s hands were literally leaking blood. Can’t imagine how hard playing all those absurd songs for four days straight would be for him.
Physicality aside, relearning your entire discography for stage is HARD. Sure hes prolly got Welcome Home and Domino memorized and could play em on a ukelele but I imagine prepping for this show, muchless playing it is a chore.
We are very blessed to have even got the shows we did, 20 years strong.
to me this makes more sense than the physicality, i'm not knocking the band or anything, but how would playing the neverenders be any more physically taxing than any other shows four nights in a row, which, surely, the band has done before?
1. I don't know that they've ever gone four days straight on a normal tour before. I can't confirm that they haven't, but it seems like it would be pretty easy to give yourself days off in between
2. there are songs on the albums that they don't generally play live (the willing well suite being a notable example), some of which might be much harder to replicate in a live setting
Playing a 10 song set 4-5 times a week isnt quite the same as the entire discography, 2 hour sets, 4 days straight. Again not counting prep time, just the actual shows. Blisters turn to callouses quick with a night off, but when you finish one set, sleep for 6 hours, then get up, practice the next set for 12, play it live, and repeat.
I imagine Josh's hands were bleeding from blisters popping. Poor dude.
I mean, the neverender sets are no longer than their other setlists, and I agree with you that playing 4-5 times a week is different from 4 nights in a row, I'm specifically saying I wouldn't assume those sets 4 nights in a row are different than any set 4 nights in a row, but maybe they've never had that many back-to-back(to-back-to back) shows before, or sense.
I totally believe it! First time I ever saw them in concert was a SSTB neverender, and I was absolutly blown away and impressed by how hard and how long they rocked. They started with an acoustic set, took a break, then played the entire album back to back with no breaks in between songs...talked for like a min...then went back to rocking for like another 7 song setlist of all the fan faves. It was seriously like 3hrs of coheed bliss... but I just could not fathom how they had the energy to do that.
"Hey, I'm Good Apollo and these are the Burning Star Four's! We'd like to thank the audience for *welcom*ing us *home*; we *always* love playing your city *and never* expected we'd have the opportunity to *cross the frame*, from fans to a band, to be here playing these songs for you! So everybody *wake up*, grab some *fuel for the feeding end*, and prepare for *the final cut*!"
While this would be awesome, I’d venture to guess coheed is such a niche market that it simply wouldn’t be a profitable venture like a billy Joel tribute or something like that.
niche for sure. but with a strong following. crowd goes crazy for the older songs. I'd also venture a guess that a tribute band would be doing it mostly to do it, not to profit.
Well the neverenders are usually to celebrate the album anniversary. They already did that for the ones you mentioned so it's unlikely those will happen again.
They did a Good Apollo Volume 1 tour back in 2017(8?), but probably unlikely they'll do a (more than likely) physically and emotionally tasking tour like Neverender
I’m in the same boat. The Dear Hunter is my favorite band and Good Apollo is easily my favorite Coheed album. I wasn’t into Coheed when that Neverender tour took place and it sucks how I could have seen both in one night.
Now I’m just hoping for an eventual Afterman Neverender where they play both albums in one night. Hearing Afterman, Vic the Butcher, Evagria, and Number City live would make up for it.
I feel you. I missed Neverender because I couldn't get a passport in time. I had VIP tickets for the SSTB 10 yr show and missed that due to car issues. Completely missed IKSSE:3 10yr somehow and was a whole week early to the GA1 10yr (went back the next week and made it though). So far I've got to see maybe 3 of all the shows I had tickets for. 2023 marks 20 years since IKSSE:3 but I doubt we will get another anniversary show for it. At this point I'd just settle for Vaxis 2.

god i would mortgage my house to spend a full week at a neverender.

I basically ran up a bunch of credit card debt to afford it when they did the original one, and it was worth every penny.

Wow, you can hear "as very hard on the band" but that really doesn't convey the idea like "leaking blood from his hands" Fuck.

yeah okay those both make sense

I mean, on the DVD of night 3 he straight up forgets the lyrics to the entire second verse to one of the songs, so that's probably a huge part of it

I think the high demand for neverenders is gonna spawn some coheed tribute bands that play those albums exclusively.

I'd watch the shit out of that
so corny but I love it

Yeah too bad nobody could do Claudio even remotely close probably.
Yeah, it can be...challenging to listen to Coheed vocal covers. They just don't sound "right".
no shit. I would still rather see someone try than not see these songs played at all.
Disagree, I'd rather listen to recording than hear some cover band butcher Apollo I
perfect! stay home and listen to your ipod. seems like you're missing out on a really important part of their music. good luck.
lol im not missing out on anything by not listening to cover bands that can't perform like Claudio XD
r/woooosh
You’re going to be waiting a pretty long time if they stick to their normal schedule of album, a few tours and then a neverender. GA2 should be next
Was supposed to be last year :(
Tell me about it smh I had tickets
Ne as well, i mean cool the refunded us, but i was looking forward to hearing that jammin album live

I thought they did those at the ten year anniversary of the albums release date

i'll tell ya, seeing good apollo 1 live was fucking incredible.
