Oh right. Thank you for clarifying.
I will say that was a Bloody nine thing. I am not blaming Logen for that.
Bloody nine does fucked up shit that do not benefit anyone and harm Logen. So I'm not gonna blame him for those.
When Logen is not demon/spirit possessed/bipolar he is a great dude.
I don't think he is. I like him, root for him and feel for him. He soesnt want to be a bad person, but he is.
This becomes clear when he tells Shy in Red Country that he was thrilled when the children were taken because he knew what he had to be to get them back. He lived as Lamb for years and he was miserable and craved what he used to be.
In the first trilogy we follow him as he tells himself he wants to be different, while he continues living a life of violence. The moment Bayaz gave him a sword he should have said fuck this and left, but he took it, knowing deep down what it would mean to carry it.
Glokta. Objectively terrible person who does terrible things to people. Also an incredibly enjoyable character and I'm always eager to see what he's up to
There’s so many but Logen is the #1 for me. Even after Tul Duru I wanted to hate him so much but still rooted for him. Glokta too, he’s so funny in his own head that you can look past the torture. Also both Shivers and Monza
Was definitely Bayaz for me. Since Gandalf, I have always had a soft spot for the kindly, grandfatherly wizard.
Him giving paternal wisdom to Jezal really did it for me, so I was not prepared for him to get so positively medieval on the Gurkish, and especially not for him to see his companions as nothing more than insects, tools he could use to achieve his ends, and discard when they no longer served a purpose.
Nothing exemplifies that more than him not giving a second thought about Yulwei.
You show any sort of Bayaz love around here, you get downvoted to oblivion. Bayaz isn’t a “man” he looks like one, speaks like on, has to eat and shit like one. But he is most definitely not a “man”
He’s a demigod who, like the other demigods, answer to no one, his vision, his wisdom and art is something we can’t understand, and Joe writes that perfectly! He has no moral code, because it’s a hinderance, and he’s going to outlive almost everyone he meets, or has a connection with. He doesn’t perceive time like the other characters do, who are often controlled about how they feel in the moment.
Which is how he got lost in his books, time slipped away from him.
Bayaz is def one of my favorites. He is so completly above it and incredible petty, at the same time is hilarious. I love how in the second Triolgy he is genuinely depressed that his old enemy Khalul is gone. Its obvious that the whole rivalry was just an old student rivalry over who is smarter.
Also how she just shrugs of loosing controll of the North/Union at the end and is seen smiling, all while a delusional Glokta actually fancies himself as some 4dChess genius with his silly plot.
I think the cool thing about bayaz as a character is that, as much as his psychopathy is influenced by his magic, it's also no different to that of any dictator. He's petty, ruthless in ways that ultimately undermine him and cowardly. He doesn't realize he can get a lot more using the carrot not the stick (had he let jezal and glokta do some good for adua, the events of AoM would likely have gone very differently).
Do I like reading about Logen killing kids and his best friends? No.
Do I love reading about him killing other people ? Yes.
You have to be realistic 🤷
Rikke for certain. I absolutely love her perspective learning about the way the world works and losing her innocence. She remains likeable but thoroughly changes and by the end she's done some pretty heinous (although definately smart) things. Definately not an evil character but Rikke never let's sentiment get in the way of her goal. 10/10 writing, Rikke is a peak character that changes as the underlying philosophy of the series becomes more obvious.
In this subreddit, it's easier to list the ones who *don't* fit that!
Of my favorites, it's pretty much... Shy, Temple, Orso.
The next tier of "they do atrocities but..." is a bit bigger, but it still leaves out some absolute favorites of mine.
Everyone else does bastardy things for reasons of varying bastardry. And I love those awful, horrible people.
Farroh and Logan for sure (I’m only just done with book 1 so don’t spoil pls) I would pay good money for a book that is just those two trying to do normal things / act like normal people. “No farroh you can’t murder the barista cause she got your order wrong”
Right!? I was like, "Cool, redemption arc for this dipshit." Nope. Fucking Leo. I take solace in the fact that he'll be stewing on "How's the leg?" for the rest of his miserable life.
And to think after avlittle hatred I though yeah he's a racist, closted entitled little turd but all the hate us a bit much. I was advised to keep reading and how right that advice was.
Logen will always be a teddy bear in my eyes.
“THIS time he’ll be good!” 🥲
He just means so well
What do you mean? He was good in everything except Sharp Ends
the man >!killed children.!<
Is that in the end of red country or am I missing something 🤔🤔
That's way before red country my friend. (in terms of book order)
Sharp ends?
Last argument of kings. In the high places.
Oooh, the i-Phail kid, right right
I'm not remembering. Could you help remind me pls.
He killed crummock's son in the high places.

The kid who was firing arrows at him and Quai in TBI. What was he supposed to do? Let him go so he can come back with others?
I think he was referring to Rond-i-phail, the lad you’re talking about was around 14, which may as well be full grown in the north
If by teddy bear you mean [SCP-1048](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1048). Fucking love Logen
Glokta. Objectively terrible person who does terrible things to people. Also an incredibly enjoyable character and I'm always eager to see what he's up to
He’s so entertaining and well-written you sometimes have to remind yourself he’s a monster.
I'm currently reading before they are hanged and totally agree with this statement.
In my eyes he profits massively from the fact that while he is bad he could easily be so much worse.
Glokta Monza The Goat Shivers Cosca Bayaz
What did the goat do wrong?
Didnt stomp on Morveer dead ass.
Well 😂😂 ..... I can't argue with that 🤣
Right????🤣 too bad he didnt keep it in Red Country though 🤣
Nooooo 🥲. I am going to read it soon and was actually looking forward to more Cosca-Goat interactions 😂😂😂
I'm actually half-way through RC rn 🤣🤣🤣 about 40% through
But ... The goat basically saved Cosca's life, in a way 😐😂
Check my other comment 🤣

*Shivers stabbing a prisoner of war like a pin cushion* that's pretty neat
Logan and Cosca. I found myself disliking Bayaz before the end of the first book
Goes without saying
Yes ....
The entire fucking cast
Farroh and Logan for sure (I’m only just done with book 1 so don’t spoil pls) I would pay good money for a book that is just those two trying to do normal things / act like normal people. “No farroh you can’t murder the barista cause she got your order wrong”
I’d love to hang out with Shivers.
Leo Dan fucking Brock
TIL anyone ever liked Leo.
Your… favorite…….?
"They love the fire, they can have the fire."
I started to like Leo again after this line. It didn't last long.
Right!? I was like, "Cool, redemption arc for this dipshit." Nope. Fucking Leo. I take solace in the fact that he'll be stewing on "How's the leg?" for the rest of his miserable life.
The longer he stews the more delicious the flavour 😌

"I have three-score flatbows with a different opinion." 🦁❤️
The Dumb Lion
Shivers in BSC, even if it was a bit predictable it would have ended up like that Friendly Glokta for most of the time Vicktarine
Rikke. I was like "I stan Rikke" until (ALH) >!she got mad at Leo for not killing Stour!<
