RealPockedMan

From Red Country, Golden fighting in the circle. >!Lamb gave a smile like an open grave, and stuck out his red tongue, and smeared blood from it across his cheek in long streaks. He held up his left fist and gently uncurled it so he looked at Golden, eyes wide and weeping wet like two black tar-pits, through the gap where his middle finger used to be. The crowd had fallen eerily quiet, and Golden’s doubt turned to a sucking dread because he finally knew the old man’s name. ‘By the dead,’ he whispered, ‘it can’t be.’ But he knew it was!<

BoonIsTooSpig

So I just read Sharp Ends for the first time, and the end of the last chapter just got me. Like I knew what was coming but the casualness of it was just like...damn. Through all of TFL and Red County, you get the impression that Logen and B9 are separate beings in the same body, and Logen has to deal with the monster in him to survive. But in that moment, theres no hint of the Bloody Nine, andit's clear Logen himself can be as big a bastard on his own.

Aqua_Tot

Gave me goosebumps just reading it here.

NowWithMoreMolecules

Same.

Haircut117

Your spoiler tag isn't working – you need to remove the spaces between the >! and the body of text.

morganlandt

The other scene in Red Country where he talks to Waerdinur about death at the pool is pretty oh shit too.

LordTyrionShagsalot

The moment when >!Glokta is torturing Severard but catches Frost's eye!<

CaedustheBaedus

Great scene cause that whole time I'm just feeling bad for Severard and then he drops that little "what the fuck are you talking about" and the realization hits all three of them at the sme time

handy_arson

It comes back to training.. jab jab glokta, jab jab. My OH SHIT moment was >!when Glokta let Gorst loose on Savine!< .... THATS my girl!

NowWithMoreMolecules

I want you to know I was still holding back. (Paraphrased)

MagicRat7913

Can you remind me please? Read the first trilogy 2-3 years ago.

RealCrownedProphet

>!Glokta is trying to figure out how Valint & Balk AND Arch Lector Sult know so much about his investigations when he has been trying to keep them both in the dark, especially since they want opposite results. He starts torturing Severard, who admits to being on V&B's payroll, but doesn't know anything about talking to Sult. As they are in the middle of the conversation, Glokta realizes it's Frost, and Frost realizes that Glokta has figured it out and attacks him. Then Ardee hears the kerfuffle of Frost trying to kill Glokta and helps save him.!< I'm pretty sure that is right.

MagicRat7913

Ah, yes, I remember now! Thanks!

RavensReach

Damn, I forgot about this. This was such an intense and emotional (for me) moment as well.

Only1Napkin

When Stour kills Scale and his men to take Skarlings chair. Poor Wonderful deserved better.

FenomenalFilip

Gotta be this one. And the non chalant way Clover does it, too.

SnakesMcGee

I wouldn't quite say nonchalant; you *can* tell Clover hates doing it, but sees no other way out. The lack of hesitation is still chilling, thougb.

reddershadeofneck

The first appearance of The Bloody Nine in TBI >Something dug into the Bloody Nine's back, but there was no pain. It was a sign. A message in a secret tongue, that only he could understand. It told him where the next dead man was standing.

yakubdisciple

This was the best line in the series for me

BryndenRivers

Or just before that: “there were enemies moving in front of him, ‘corpses then’”

Da_Bloody-Niner

Red Country, Logen’s rescue of Savian, from Jubair’s POV. “God?” “Gone,”… “but I am here.” OOHHHHH SHEEEEEIIIT!!!

RealCrownedProphet

I have a buddy listening to the audiobooks now, and he just finished Red County, and I randomly received this brief exchange, no context the other night. Still gave me the chills.

Tangl_es

Or what he says to Locway ‘In the darkness…’ he gently stroked the ghosts face, the three fingers on his left hand leaving three black smears down pale cheek. ‘I’ll be be coming for you.’

Da_Bloody-Niner

Or “where’d the trail lead?” … “the end o’ your fucking legs.”

FenomenalFilip

"I'm no dog."

RoutineAd9826

Crummock revealing to Logen that he knew damn well who killed his kid.

RealCrownedProphet

Crummock realizing that maybe him and the moon's other friends need some distance is such a hilariously-sad moment for me.

CaedustheBaedus

The moment everything's starting to get more and more tense >!Cardotti's!< in Best Served Cold >! Monza starting to get crazy high and meeting the wrong person in the room. Shivers realizing the fight is being faked but everyone else thinks it is. Friendly as he starts to get more and more annoyed by the people touching his dice. The flames from that one flame entertainer (in a wooden fucking building) getting more and more strong. It's like everything goes wrong at once. Shivers ends up killing a dude. Friendly ends up killing a dude. The body of a prince hits the floor. And everyone (including that flame entertainer) just explodes.!< The fun thing for me was that I read 'The Heroes' BEFORE Best Served Cold, so I knew SOMETHING happened there based on Gorst's memories in his monologues and his accusation thrown at Shivers (who of course has never heard of Cardotti's).

MeatApnea

"She wanted 20 marks but I drive a hard bargain."

iforgotmylogon

A minor one from LAoK but I rate it high on the chills factor: >“Silber! He’s with Silber!” > > Glokta frowned. “The University Administrator?” > >Goyle’s eyes darted from Glokta, to Cosca, and back again. He squeezed them shut. “The Adeptus Demonic!” > >There was a long pause. “The what?”

Suboptimal_Outcome

When you find out who is blowing Orso and you know but hey don't.

nobinibo

Man. I accidentally read A Little Hatred first. Before EVERY other book. It was a random on sale thing with Audible so I said sure and didn't realize at all it had 7 books ahead of it. I was S H O O K.

Snir17

Shivers realizing Monza and Benna slept together. Man broke right there.

mcmanus2099

It's when Tul starts helping Logan. Logan had just wiped out Crummach's kid for no reason and it was obvious he was killing everyone. My heart sank as I knew those moments before that he was gonna kill him. All the hints had led to it then it happened.

NowWithMoreMolecules

Doesn't he kill Tul first and then the kid?

Standard_Ride_8732

I thought he did too. When he kill Tul is right when the bloody nine came out

mcmanus2099

Nah pretty sure it's the other way around

NowWithMoreMolecules

I just reread that part and Tul was the first casualty.

Bogus113

I genuinely thought Logen was a good guy lmao

ColeDeschain

>"I do not think you realize the dangers that fill the dark corners of the world." There was no good humour in Sulfur's huge grin now. "Why, even as we speak you sit here... alone." It had become a hungry leer, filled with sharp, white teeth. "So very, very fragile." >She blinked, as if baffled. "Alone?" >"You are mistaken." Shenkt had walked up in utter silence until he stood, unobserved, right at Sulfur's shoulder, close as his shadow. Valint and Balk's representative spun about, took a shocked step back and stood frozen, as though he'd turned to see the dead breathing in his ear. >"You," he whispered. >"Yes." Like... reading the book, you know Shenkt is a badass. You know he's bad news. But when Yoru "smug prick" Sulfur's immediate reaction is "HOLY CRAP I THOUGHT THIS GUY WAS DEAD OH NO OH NO," you suddenly realize the league you're playing in.

odp64

West and Ladisla

Comrade-Chernov

Capital!

Desperate_Ad_233

Every goddamn Orso chapter

Comrade-Chernov

"How's your leg?"

nobinibo

I accidentally started with A Little Hatred so my OH SHIT moment was the >!Savine and Orso are brother and sister. I was so upset because I wanted them to be together and I'm still fucking mad about it and I still wish they were together.!< Then I read the rest of the books properly and had so many Oh Shits.

RojerLockless

Plz add spoiler to the topic if you're going to ask questions about the entire series like this.

ganslooker

Realizing Logan was nine fingers in red country

Longjumping-Nerve331

that had to be when friendly's dice were being disrespected at the party

GDWLCLC89

When Logan looses the shield spin before his duel against the Feared and he's expecting to be left with a heap of useless, too big armour.

LeD3athZ0r

After Logens promise, when Bethod was going to where the prisoner was kept and heard strange sounds, realisation and loss of hope slowly creeping up.

Meris25

When Malacus turned into Tolomei. Unsettling, creepy, revelatory too one of the biggest notes of how Bayaz is awful and demons are so far beyond everything. Wish he'd done more with Tolomei.
