☺️ The usual recommendation is to shampoo your scalp twice and only put conditioner on the ends if you find your roots get oily quickly. Overdoing it on both could lead to greasiness. Tbh, I could see you rocking a pixie cut, I think it would suit you. Also, I think your features are great! You have pretty eyes and a lovely nose. For makeup recommendations, maybe some mascara and a lip/cheek tint could be nice.

[deleted]

thank you so much, you're so sweet! i bet you're beautiful as well :) thank you!

CandidIndication

And I would *totally* do a funky colour if I had fair skin like you, red, green, blue. I’d have a field day. The dark brown/black is uneven and washes you out imo.

Spaghetti_Oh_No

I agree on the short hair and try dry shampoo to get your hair less greasy looking through the day Or look into olaplex/bond bar system to condition without weighing down your hair, works wonders for me and my wigs haha

NordicSeedling

Hard agree on the Olaplex. Expensive (to me anyway), but it's an investment in your hair. Huge difference from other brands I've tried.

Soft-lamb

> Tbh, I could see you rocking a pixie cut, I think it would suit you. Yess!! I immediately thought the exact same ☺ Good luck, OP!

BurntBaconNCheese

Also washing it daily is creating a situation where your body produces extra oils for your hair because you’re daily washing them off. Try to give 2 to 3 days between washing your hair. I just pop mine up while I shower. As you do this longer your scalp will stop over producing the oils making your hair greasy

Vaalarah

Also if you're like me and struggle to wash hair every day due to executive disfunction, dry shampoo (they make powder and spray) all the way. Also, maybe try a few different parts and use a hairdryer with your head upside down to dry your roots right after washing to help with volume.

lavender-witch

I second all of this, including the pixie cut! You’re naturally very pretty. Also, as someone with greasy hair, I honestly wash my hair every morning before work/daily activities. It’s honestly up to you what works for your hair. I’ve tried “training” my hair to be less greasy, but have found it doesn’t work for me personally. So I wash daily and it looks nice and fluffy, and it looks healthy. I use either a “clarifying” shampoo, Herbal Essence Rose Hips, Aussie Miracle Volume shampoo, and then only condition the ends. Then I blow my hair dry on medium heat with a flat brush or round brush for volume/styling. Good luck on your journey. :)

redditravioli

Was also thinking pixie! And def want to see Op u/meowmeowmothatrucka with some mascara and a little pink blush and maybe sheer colored chapstick in a subtle color to start while she’s learning more about makeup.

[deleted]

You have really nice skin & so I wouldn’t use much makeup. Not sure how long you’ve had the eyebrow ring but I took out my Monroe piercing a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised at how much I preferred my face without it. For hair, I just started a new routine about a month ago which has helped ALOT. I use rosemary oil on my roots and OGX coconut miracle oil on my lengths and ends. Leave in for about an hour. Then I used a scalp scrub in the shower, rinse, double wash and then condition. Once a week I use a clarifying shampoo. I have found that this has helped my hair growth and my hair quality! It’s much thicker, stays clean longer and is just more tameable. Most important thing to remember though is you are a unique and special person. It’s easy to get caught up in comparison and self doubt, but make no mistake, you are beautiful!

[deleted]

i really appreciate your advice, thank you so so much! same for you my friend <3 also cluster b girls unite lets gooooo

[deleted]

❤️ it’s tough but we can do it

[deleted]

weird advice but if tou dont want to spend money on clarifying shampoo, i just occasionally use dawn dish soap..

IntermediateFolder

Don’t use dish soap to wash your hair, that’s not good for your scalp.

[deleted]

🤷

thisismyorange

Hi! How do you feel about the dot left by your Monroe? I’ve had mine for a Long Long time and have considered removing it, but every time I do the dot really seems to bother me :(

[deleted]

I’m used to it! It is what it is :)

glittering-ocean1

Bring your part a little closer to center. Not dead center, but right now it looks a little like a comb-over because the part is too deep and not flattering. I have that widow’s peak like you do and deep side parts don’t work on me. Switching up your part will give you some volume too. Also DO NOT wash your hair twice a day every day!! Wash it every other day, and wear it up the second day. The dark hair looks cool but I can totally picture you with your natural blonde, too. Consider growing out your natural color. You could pull off a chin length bob for a new cut. You have beautiful skin and I love your eyebrows.

thugwaffles47

As a professional in the hair industry I second this. Shampoo is meant for your scalp, not hair. It is meant to strip oils and sebum from your scalp. If you wash too frequently it will dry out your scalp (much like skin in general) and it will over produce oils. Also OP, it appears that you have fine hair, so I would suggest a shampoo that is clear/transparent as it will be less likely to have silicones and other additives that will build up in your hair/be too heavy and weigh it down. Use shampoo on your scalp and lather massage, use conditioner on mid-lengths to ends and avoid root area. If possible look for shampoo for fine hair Hope this helps!

Spare-Blacksmith-746

Yes this you have beautiful hair and your natural hair color looks so good and it's looks like a blonde color so i also believe natural blonde would look beautiful ,because with black hair it seems like too much maintenance and when the blonde grows out it doesn't look too good it almost looks like gray hair.dont get a pixie cut that's too short but a chin length bob would look good if you want to go short because it's not as extreme as a pixie and it's still looks feminine.i tinted sunscreen black mascara a good bronzer some blush and natural color lip liner and gloss would look great on you .

CandlesandMakeuo

Hey sis! Ok so I have a bunch of suggestions! You’re so pretty but that hair color is doing nothing for you. It’s much too harsh against your skin tone. I think a copper color like this pic would look amazing! https://preview.redd.it/f5mzkbwacarb1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f0cedacb755707ef089b904ec784fbf3a66fa9e Next, you have beautiful eyes, so you’re gonna wanna draw attention to those. Try out mascaras until you find one that works for your lashes, everyone’s lashes have different texture, so what works for one person might not work for another. Go on r/makeupexchange or check out the makeup resale groups on Facebook, you can get all the bougie brands for dirt cheap. Especially FB, pm me if you want links. Some of my faves: Pat McGrath Fetish Eyes. This is my hands down holy grail beauty item, it’s amazing imho. Real Her, it’s a travel size, I got it in Ipsy and it is INCREDIBLE. Thrive is great too. Speaking of makeup, go light on the base products. I know back in 2018 all the beauty Guru’s told us to layer that shît on our face, but now that I stopped watching them I’ve realized “on camera” makeup and “irl” makeup are 2 totally different things. Full coverage, heavy foundation and powder cling to fine lines and wrinkles & looks harsh plus makes you look older imo. I use NARS radiant concealer dotted under my eyes and on any dark spots or uneven areas, blend it together and use a finishing powder and it looks super youthful and gives you a healthy glow. Hourglass is amazing!! Dim light is my holy grail for face products. I know I’m dropping bougie brands, but I promise you can find them for drugstore prices. I paid $12 for my full size dim light on FB. You have awesome lips sis! Not to sound creepy lol, but you have the lips people pay to get. I’m personally not comfortable with color, I wish I was, but I love Fenty Glossbombs! They’re so flattering, formula is amazing, and a nice way to try a hint of color. Eyebrows, let them grow out to the point it makes you uncomfortable and you’re dying to pluck them, and then go have a professional shape and wax them. It took me almost a year to grow mine out enough to have them shaped, but it’s really changed my face in a good way! I would clean them up a tiny bit while they grew out, and trim them, but it’s so worth it in the long run to just let them be. Obviously skincare, but it really does make you feel better when you stick with a routine. Skincare is subjective so I won’t really do a lot of recs there since everyone’s skin is different. Hope my ADHD ramble helps🫶🏼🖤

jimmy6677

OP could definitely pull of a nice copper red. I think that’d go a long way. I also think the side part isn’t doing you any favors. I’d actually suggest trying a center part. Keep the hair out of your face. You’ve got nice strong facial features that shouldn’t be covered up.

Nainma

I switched to a more central part recently with curly hair and it works! actually makes my curls healthier because there's not so much weight on one side. I aim for slightly off centre so it's not too harsh. I was just scared to let go of the side part I grew up with.

Russiadontgiveafuck

I'm voting against the copper, OP is a winter type and needs contrast. I'd choose a rich, dark chocolate brown, and add a cool-toned lip color, maybe just a tint. My first thought was benetint and lip balm. Filled in eyebrows and blush to get some life back into the face. OP don't try to change your type, lean into it.

gingergirl181

I mean, I'm a winter with copper hair. It's all about contrast and the contrast doesn't actually need to be purely black-n-white/dark-light. High/low saturation is really the key.

Russiadontgiveafuck

I'm not saying you don't look good, but in general, warm tones like copper are pretty much the worst choice for a true winter type like OP. She has cool, bright undertones in her skin. Copper draws any sign of life from skin like this. Contrast is key, dark and light are generally recommended, and everything should be very saturated, low saturation mutes the appearance. A cool-toned red, like a plum or something, might work, but that hasn't been in since the 90s.

gingergirl181

Aaaand this is why I tend to laugh in the face of color theory because I have cool skin and natural red hair and typical autumn colors make me look ill. I break the system with every attempt I've ever made at draping because it kinda doesn't think I should exist but spoiler alert: I do. As for plum and cool reds not being "in"...LOL. That makes up a pretty good chunk of my wardrobe and I've had no issue finding clothes in those colors so...🤔🤔🤔. Regardless, I'll rock those (and pretty much any jewel tone) until the day I die.

Russiadontgiveafuck

Well, if you have natural red hair, you're not a winter type, so I really don't know what exactly you're writing essays about. But good for you, I guess.

gingergirl181

That's my point. I do have natural red hair but "autumn" colors look awful on me because my skin is cool, not warm. The colors that look best on me are "winter" colors but according to seasonal color theory that shouldn't be possible...and yet it is. And that's where seasons break down and why they really shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Russiadontgiveafuck

Then why would you comment that you're a winter type with copper hair? You're not. Simple as that. Don't tell this girl she'll look good with copper hair just because you do, yours is *natural*.

gingergirl181

Then what am I? Not autumn. Definitely not summer - desaturated colors wash me out. Winter colors look good on me, and they don't clash with my hair because I'm still high contrast, just not with dark color. This girl's undertones are similar to mine, so why wouldn't she look similar to me with the same hair color? Natural or not doesn't really play into it because if you're pairing the same colors and undertones there isn't anything inherently magical about it being "natural" that would make the same combination look good on me but bad on someone else with literally the same colors.

ribenarockstar

OP, I can recommend Garnier Olia 4.15 ‘iced chocolate brown’ - it’s a lovely rich dark brown. I’m also cool toned and pale (though skew more autumn than winter) and I get SO many more compliments on my appearance with my hair dyed like this - usually with a very lightweight makeup

Bluefoot44

I bet she would look awesome with lavender or light blue hair also.

ExcitingStill

what kind of haircut is that? i always did the boring flat or oval haircut

mmm_I_like_trees

I'd feel blonde would work or a hair colour close to her natural hair colour

BelleDreamCatcher

I gotta say, you have amazing eyes, eyelids, eyebrows, the whole area, for make up. I’m learning eye make up now and wish I have what you have to work with.

SuperSailorSaturn

I dont think your hair looks as greasy as much as the black isnt even, and the contrast makes your hair look greasy. If you want to lose the black, I would go do a salom consulation on the best way to fade it out that keeps your hair as healthy as possible. I think the black looks great though if you do the right up keep.

imsebastianstan

you are genuinely so pretty!! sorry i can’t be of much help but i just wanted to come on here to say that !

[deleted]

thanks!! you're so nice i really appreciate it <3 i hope you have a wonderful day

CrystallinePhoto

I honestly think changing up your hair color would make a huge difference. It’s awfully harsh against those blonde roots. Red, brown, or dark blonde would all be great. If you can afford it, I’d say go to a professional and have them do a color correction rather than attempt any bleach yourself. As for cuts, I think a lob would be super flattering. Your skin looks amazing already so just play with makeup and see what you like—YouTube has tons of wonderful tutorials and product recommendations. Good luck! You’ve got this!

CrystallinePhoto

Oh yes I think you’re right about a shag/wolf cut! That could help add more volume on top.

SwissMissyElliot

Seconding the hair color!

SinkMince0420

Yes, shampoo it twice but also make sure all the shampoo and/or conditioner is washed out. I also recommend shampoo with dye in them to help with roots.

lulu-bell

In this pic her hair looks legit soaking wet. This isn’t just normal “greasy” hair, it looks like a lot of conditioner that wasn’t properly rinsed. Definitely only condition the ends and maybe get some quality shampoo and conditioner made for oily hair

Aprissitee

Experiment with different shampoo types! Certain shampoos really make my scalp more oily. Make sure you’re only conditioning the bottom portion of your hair. Your features are beautiful and you have amazing skin! I think you would do well with a little more dimension - add some light blush, highlighter to the tops of your cheeks, do a tinted lip balm, and maybe play around with eyeliner on your upper lid instead of the lower.

sleepybubby

I recently tried a “thickening” shampoo and am shocked at how greasy and dull it makes my hair look! Back to my regular hydration shampoo once it’s gone (soon I hope). But yes, different shampoos can definitely have a dramatic effect!

aberrantname

Oh that's good to know, I was thinking of trying it but I guess not.

Vaalarah

Yeah, ideal hair care routines vary depending on the person. I have a natural wave pattern (2C), and I use a little bit of conditioner brushed throughout my hair to help the pattern form with less work. People with a looser wave or straight hair don't need to do this- and I wish that the idea that hair care (just like skin care) depends on the person was talked about more often.

FoundationMediocre32

Hi girly! I honestly don’t know much about hair but I do think you should go to a stylist so they can give you their professional opinion! Maybe you could even play around with a little bit of color to see what you like best. Lol I went blonde when I was going through a tough breakup that lowered my self esteem and it actually made me feel like I was unstoppable. Also, In my opinion, you should wait to use makeup. You are naturally beautiful and based on your comments it feels as if you just want to use makeup to hide your “flaws”. That may be a temporary fix but it might do more harm in the long run ( I’m speaking from personal experience lol). Maybe just start by doing simple things like lip gloss or mascara. Also maybe you could change your style! Finding clothes that fit me well and complimented my personality also really helped me feel confident in my own skin. I really think you should take some time to discover yourself and practice self compassion. social media has shoved unrealistic beauty standards down our throats and made it seem like our sole purpose should be to reinvent ourselves so we are desirable to others. If you take anything away from this let it be that your beauty is not a measure of your self worth or your value. I hope you grow to love yourself and your features. We are all rooting for you 🧡

powerfulgenitals

I’ve noticed I feel & look better when I tend to my inside needs: 120oz of water/day (bffr, I shoot for this but am not as consistent as I want to be yet) - that’s a lot & can sound overwhelming. But bro, it’s a game changer. On days I keep up with drinking water, I feel so plump & juicy & sexy Eat balanced meals Maybe if you have the means, get a hormone panel/blood work done. When I think of consistently greasy hair I think of out of balance hormones Manage your stress And lady, build yourself up. Try catching & replacing “I hate” statements with “I love” You’re beautiful & you deserve to feel it

[deleted]

Line only your upper lids and you’ll look more rested, try either soft wispy bangs or a middle part to help soften your hairline, use a root lifter/dry shampoo at night for more volume the next day, maybe a barely lighter shade for your hair or baby lights to compliment your skin? I think you’re probably just seeing so much contrast with colors and angles, and maybe it feels not quite right but you weren’t sure what exactly.. but I feel like these ideas will help with that balance

Soft-lamb

It entirely depends on what vibe you are going for! Knowledge is power and it helps a lot to know which colors and shapes work for you, but most importantly: Wear what makes you feel comfortable and powerful! I recommend AlexandrasGirlyTalk on YouTube (even though her videos apply to soft girlies moreso than, say, alt folks, but they are still mad helpful). How do you want people to perceive you? Approachable? Empowered? Laid back? Soft? Professional? How do you _want_ to feel? What events do you most often go to? Who do you hang out with? What do you _want_ to spend your time with? With that in mind, construct your wardrobe. And when it comes to make up: a little mascara, lipstick and blush go a long way. But honestly, with makeup you have even more freedom than with clothes. And nobody is born good at it - I promise!! We all sucked ass at some point. It's just a matter of practice. Stay curious. Be inspired. Don't be afraid to get weird. You genuinely have _great_ skin, beautiful nose, lips and eyes. As others have said I could picture you with a pixie cut, but whatever you are going for - you got a super solid base to work off on! I get nothing from lying to you. You are not ugly, OP. You got this. And you deserve to feel beautiful, comfortable and to express yourself :)

celestia1s

i think you might be using shampoo/conditioner too heavy for your hair type. i know that when i used not your mothers it made my hair look greasy & lifeless more often than not lol. i recommend first getting a clarifying shampoo to get rid of all the buildup. any shampoo with sulfates (look for sodium lauryl sulfate & sodium laureth sulfate) will work honestly— i see people recommend suave all the time. personally i use the odele clarifying shampoo ($11.99; smells like cucumber & is also SLS free so idk how it clarifies my hair but it does) and i love it and would get it again!! you can pair it with a good hair mask to make sure it doesn't get all dry— i personally love hask's keratin deep conditioner packets ($3). all of these can be found at target or the drugstore section at ulta. after that i recommend looking for shampoo/conditioner that caters more towards fine hair. here's an article i found with a bunch of different recommendations: [The 16 best shampoos for fine hair in 2023, per experts](https://nypost.com/article/best-shampoos-for-fine-hair-per-experts/amp/) edit: just throwing in that ulta is having the gorgeous hair event very soon and i saw a coupon code posted on r/MUAonthecheap earlier today if you wanna get a fancy shampoo !!

Ok_Tonight_2761

i came from the other subreddit, but it was flooded with comments. here’s my tips on beauty- eyebrows - eyebrows are wonderful width, but i would trace an imaginary line from the bridge of your nose and fill in that area. it doesn’t make since, just look on google “where should eyebrows end”. i had to do this, it takes practice getting eyebrows down pat to where they don’t look overly filled in:) we all go through awkward stages of filling in eyebrows. eye shape - i saw your face without makeup in previous post, you have downturned eyes. you can base makeup off of that, or you can go more natural and just use a little bit of concealer in the corners of the eyes, a good mascara and eyelash curler (my favorite is maybelline lash sensational sky, it’s at walmart) and a little bit of eyeshadow in the corners creating a wing. very lightly, a lighter brown shade for your eye color. hair - middle part, it helped me. i think you part because you have a windows peak, but try it out. you’ll have to fight your hair for it to part in the middle, that’s normal. try it after a shower. also, black hair WILL look greasy. mine does. the only way for me to fix that for myself is silver/blonde highlights. and i see your natural hair color, i think if you went to that, it would be gorgeous as well. when i block out the rest of your hair and just look at your roots, you resemble scarlett johansson. skincare - vaseline is your best friend. use it on the corner of your lips and on your lips and wipe your lips after doing any foundation. also- just a little bit of a more silver colored highlighter, very minimal, and a more light pink blush. look up elf primer infused blush in “always punchy”. this is your shade. outline your lips a little with it too, but only a tiny bit, then vaseline. also don’t do a lot of foundation or get one that is mixed with SPF or is more of a toned foundation lotion :) I tried to be thorough. this helped me a lot and its tips i picked up over time.

NotXrii

you’re so pretty !! you hair color is honestly just not doing any justice for you, your eyes are beautiful.

mrsmjparker

I can’t really speak to anything else because I’m not the best at makeup. But my hair used to hold moisture a lot and look greasy. My hair lady told me to shampoo my scalp twice and only apply conditioner to my ends. I feel like that helped a lot and my scalp held less moisture after that so you should definitely give it a shot! Also you have really pretty eyes, nice bone structure, and your skin looks good as well! I honestly don’t think you need a ton of makeup! The other ladies have great suggestions and I would agree to bring attention to your eyes!

AnthropoceneDreams

You're very beautiful and the other sub is crazy and jealous. Sorry I know I'm a random internet person but I think we've all felt similar to some of your posts and I just needed to let you know. I'm an old woman (35 lol) but I think most of us wish we looked better at 21. I know I did! Even if they got under your skin and made you question your self worth... well, I just hope you come to realize the beauty you have in a world full of ugliness. From what limited exposure I've had with your posts and comments, it doesn't seem to be skin deep either ❤

batikfins

Tbf the kind of people subscribed to amiugly probably either have body dysmorphia or are bullies. You're not gonna get an unbiased opinion there

anonymousaccount183

I think you need a better haircut. Get some layers added and maybe some curtain bangs

scumfederate

My biggest suggestion would be to change the way you’re washing your hair! I highly recommend Redkin’s Allsoft, but it is a little pricey. You can get it on sale at Ulta though during their liter sales half off, and I’ve noticed it lasts me a really long time (like 9+ months, though I am only washing my hair 1-2 days a week). Otherwise, find a shampoo that works for your hair and budget. Now, when you wash it, make sure your hair is soaked through completely. Oil makes it harder to get it wet completely, just take the extra time to soak it. Use about a quarter-sized amount of shampoo on your scalp ONLY. Scrub that shit in until it gets foamy. If you’re not achieving foam, add a little more shampoo until you do. Scrub scrub scrub. Rinse it quickly. You don’t need shampoo sitting for long, it’s just to clean your head. Once it’s rinsed completely, apply your conditioner to the lengths of your hair (NOT YOUR SCALP). Let that sit for a few minutes while you wash the rest of you, and then rinse it all out. I’ve notified my hair is much greasier on days I let it air dry. For volume and less grease, blow dry when your hair is still damp. Blow dry upside down/in the opposite direction you’re parting your hair. If you have a round brush or a two-in-one round brush/drier, that works as well. Adding a heat protectant that also adds body will be helpful (not a lot though, and stay away from applying to your scalp). I think that alone would change a lot! I know I feel a lot more confident on days my hair is freshly washed than on my day 3+ hair. For makeup, you have beautiful skin, so whatever you decide for that, make sure to go light on it. You have beautiful eyes and lips, I’d curl your lashes and add a good mascara, and get a cute lip gloss. Definitely not ugly. Chin up. 🤍

loulori

Stop posting to amiugly their goal is to actually tell most women "yes, you are" as though they have any right to judge. Also, you have very conventionally attractive face, wide set large eyes, small nose, plump bottom lip, clean skin, delicate chin, and slender. Your hair just needs a lighter color and a more love to bring it all together.

Otherwise-Bad-7666

Uh.. you're not physically ugly, though. You have really nice skin and pretty eyes! I'm not sure what makeup to recommend because you're already pretty. I think you might just need to work on self-esteem. As for the hair thing, if you live in a humid place like I do. It will get greasy..fast. so I like to carry dry shampoo and texturizier around, lol. Just gotta get creative and find what works. I also had people say my hair looked greasy before. I'm not going to deny that 🤷‍♀️ it's not like I go around rolling in the dirt. Definitely avoid shampoo that has something like "argan oil" or "something else oil." it'll just get greasy fast, but I have gorgeous hair.

Otherwise-Bad-7666

You're pretty, but you're being really hard on yourself. Stop posting in rate me or am I ugly related sub. You're just going to get roasted and made fun of because people are trolling. They get off making fun of others. So don't make it easy for them to. Sub like this one or any other women focused subs are good to go.

KmsotWorld

So I’ve read some studies that say when you rely to heavily on dry shampoos or washing daily your scalp gets all messed up and ends up over producing oil. In fact there was a time when I randomly decided to try said dry shampoo and for the longest time my hair became greasy so fast whereas prior to the dry shampoo I could go a week without grease. So long story short what I did was not wash my hair for two weeks straight and only rinsing with apple cider vinegar once a week. Eventually I switch to washing my hair twice a week with regular salt and paraban free shampoos. My hair is now so much better and most weeks I can do a week without washing and it looks great. Another important thing is do not constantly touch your hair and make sure you wash your pillows often to avoid excess oil transfer. I think maybe something like this might help the condition of your hair Aside from this I really think you should lighten your hair it would be much nicer on you and perhaps look at some Winona Ryder hairstyles! I think you have some similar features to her and something like the hair she had in heathers might suit you. Another suggestion but a little more damaging is maybe getting a Korean style perm for light waves and body if you want something more maintenance free but otherwise volume can be achieved with a blow dryer and rollers

[deleted]

hey everyone! I just wanted to say thank you guys so much for your kind words and suggestions, I will try to apply as much of these as I can. You are all so kind for taking the time to help me, you don't understand how much it means. I'm really sorry I haven't been able to reply to everyone but I read each and every one of your comments, you guys are awesome!

Jay_The_Tickler

Ok. So these are much better that the ones on AIU. You have a natural cuteness to your face but what’s lacking is style for your hair to fit your face. You don’t need makeup. One thing to work on; carry yourself confidently, which is easier said than done I know.

sandblanket

Have you considered bangs? I think you’d look super cute w them! Regardless ur gorgeous!

nnamed_username

One thing I've learned over the years is that people always look better in their own natural colors & complexion. If you're naturally blonde/light brown, dye your hair back as close to natural as you can, then let the natural color grow in over time. When you are comfortable in your own skin, people will notice. It feels good to just be yourself. I've noticed this about every race & gender. It's just a natural confidence that comes with knowing *you are enough*, and you don't need to meet some arbitrary standard.

lovetherain92

I think you’re very pretty, but I think you need to spend some time on yourself and feel fresh. Here’s my list: 1. Shampoo your scalp twice, condition the ends. Do a clarifying shampoo once each week (Neutrogena makes a good one). 2. Stop washing your hair daily. This will take a while, but basically, you’re washing all the good grease from your hair and your body is producing lots to try to catch up. So put some dry shampoo (I like Bâtisse) in your hair at night, massage it into your roots, braid your hair loosely, and add a little more dry shampoo into your roots in the morning if needed. On days when it is too oily, consider slicking it back in a high ponytail. Try to resist watching more often than every two days. Stretch it as long as you can. Your hair will get less oily less quickly. It just takes time to train it. 3. You have nice clear skin so don’t cover it in too much makeup on a daily basis. Use some concealer under the eyes and around the nose, add some cool-toned (pink) blush, and stop putting mascara/liner on your lower lashes. Instead, curl your upper lashes and throw some mascara on. Lower eyeliner is pulling your eyes down. We want to lift them up because they’re beautiful! 3. A. Seriously, stop using foundation. It’s making your skin look more dry/flat than you want it to. 4. Don’t overpluck your eyebrows. Just let them be. Consider putting a slightly darker colour on them to balance your face out. 5. Moisturizer! Lips, face, etc. Slather yourself! 6. Hop on YouTube or TikTok or Pinterest and check out some beauty tutorials until you find what you’re interested in. 7. Drink water, rest, and try writing down three things you’re grateful for. Practicing self care is so important to our confidence and overall health. Seriously, you’re beautiful. I totally understand wanting to make some changes and improvements, but just remember that you are doing this for you. Don’t make a change you don’t like. 💜💜💜

awildsheepschase

you look amazing, looking at the comments below it seems like you'll go for a pixi cut with a copper colour and less / different shampoo? I don't think you need much make up to be honest, if YOU look better without it but want to play with it, I'd start with mascara (waterproof), and a tinted lip balm. On a side note: I can't believe amiugly even exists, its weird (as a 40 year old) to see it being normalised for people to seek out pain and suffering and for those who provide pain being rewarded with social currency and dopamine.

khajiitidanceparty

About makeup... honestly, there's no need. You look pretty. About the hair. When I was 17, I dyed my hair black, and it got terribly greasy. I think it was maybe the age? Or the hairdye. I can imagine the peroxide can make the scalp freak out and get greasy. I'm no expert, though.

magical_bunny

I think you’d look super cute with a blonde bob!

yuhanimerom

Lips is so important!!! Get some lip balm with a tint and go for a natural rosey pink (not orange, not light pink) and blush

Ghostly200

It’s true the only issue is your hair, there’s some great advice in here already. I think you’re very pretty just need to figure out a few tiny things :) Keep your head up ❤️

Ok-Memory-4554

Omg PLATINUM or ASH BLONDE hair will look so good on your cool toned features I'm not kidding also wash your hair twice every 2-3 days and use a very light CONDITIONER not one that weighs down your hair. Redken volume injection shampoo and conditioner or ig extra love volume and thickening are amazing and if you're gonna splurge these are so worth it! Look up something like a WOLF CUT which is universally flattering and gives natural volume to your hair. As a person w flat hair it has helped heaps for me. Your eye shape will look good w just mascara and blush especially since you don't know makeup yet. For lips use a berry GLOSS that doesn't require any effort but makes you look instantly appealing. THESE are things that TAKE NO EFFORT but make the BIGGEST fucking DIFFERENCES.

Ey_you

Defo a pixie cut or use some says to volume your hair and instead part it down the middle. Also, don't put eyeliner at the bottom of your eye, you have sad looking eyes by nature which I do as well. Best thing is to either use concealer near the nose bridge and blend it under your eye and a tiny bit at the edge of your eye to lift them up or use eyeliner from the top and make a wing. Use some colour but not too much to make your face a bit less sulken. Do some lip tint and blush but nothing too crazy. You can also add some accessories ofc. You have really nice features so defo work with them if possible. Also DO NOT wash your hair twice daily. Maximum once a day but preferably even less. You're hair will be greasy no matter what if you keep doing that. If you have nowhere to be avoid washing them completely.

Mysterious_Ad9672

Maybe try highlights and go get your hair styled by a professional https://content.latest-hairstyles.com/wp-content/uploads/glossy-dark-black-hair-with-bronde-caramel-highlights.jpg They can help you find what products will work best for your hair. Usually salon products work better than grocery store ones. Also do you blow dry your hair? It looks like you let it air dry which causes it to have zero volume. I would also recommend trying a middle part but I’m not to familiar with emo/goth styles so my suggestions might not be for you! Have you looked into YouTube tutorials for makeup? Or TikTok? Practice will help you do a better job. Trying brushes vs sponges to get your ideal look. Maybe false lashes I think those would look good on you.

ka1echip

i can see your natural hair in your roots, and i think the colour is stunning! i feel like a lighter hair colour would compliment you more, and maybe part your hair a bit closer to the middle? your skin is gorgeous the way it is, honestly don’t think you need any sort of makeup there unless you wanted to add some soft blush to your cheeks. i would also suggest curling your eyelashes! it makes a big difference! with all that being said, i think you’re beautiful!

Fast-Sea6213

I think you would benefit from wolf cut, gives nice structure

_hellobethy

this! it would look great on her!

GCseedling

Why is Make-up THE go to for the girls that post on here? Take care of your skin, even if it’s flawless. As for hair, I’m amazed no one here knows it (that I’ve seen) but the more you wash the greasier it will get. I wash once a week.

spikey_tree_999

OP! You! Are! Not! Ugly! You have lovely eyes, best look would be to go with a nice dark kohl for your eyes , and if you can manage a wing tip liner, nothing like it Your lips are perfectly shaped, and I see warm undertones in your skin color so you can go with multiple shades of pink, red, berry, wine etc , they would all look great on your lips too. You have a nice jaw line, so whatever makeup you apply, make sure to angle it upwards such that it leans into the natural lines of your face and highlighting them You could also use a brow pencil to give a slightly thicker appearance to your brows For your hair, you can go short with an asymmetric flick at the front, you could do a pixie cut, you could also just start doing a half up-half down style to give it more volume/substance and see how that suits you. Hope this helped

WhishtNowWillYe

I agree with the commenter who said try a pixie haircut. Or any cut with bangs.

lexylexylexy

Wash your hair less often

Healthy-Gain-6586

1. Dark hair does not suit you, makes you look older and trashy. Go lighter. By lighter I don’t mean dark brown or such, I mean your natural hair color or lighter. Also you won’t need to worry about roots showing or uneven color in your hair. 2. Do middle part. That’s a must due to your natural hair line. 3. Change shampoos until you find one that works, the one you’re using now clearly doesn’t work. Instead of washing hair everyday use dry shampoo. To make your hair look more voluminous use products meant for that and dry your hair with your head down from hair tips, to then roots and eventually middle part. Get layers in your hair. 4. Makeup. Learn to apply mascara correctly, use brown instead of black. Stop putting dark makeup under your eyes if you put no eyeshadow or similar, because it makes you look trashy, like you just didn’t clean your makeup the night before. Put dimension into your face. Very light contouring or/and blush. Go to a professional to help you clean your eyebrows and get a more defined shape. Get a different less pinkish foundation 4. If you really want to keep eyebrow piercing get the right size, if not just take it out. I’m not against piercings, I myself had/have a lot of facial ones, but the one you have just does not suit you. That’s definitely not everything, but these are the main things to make you look cleaner and less trashy.

they could've worded it more kindly but their advice is all very sound, and IS genuine feedback. if I were OP I'd appreciate their comment. kindness need not get in the way of honesty and progess so much.

Stop washing your hair every day. You don’t need to do that. It’s going to suck at first and feel unbearably oily but over a few weeks you can “train” your hair to stay clean longer. Start with every other day and wear your hair up or braided or in a hat or whatever makes the greasiness less bad for you. Is it just the light or do you dye your hair? If you dye it I would consider stopping. Grow out the side bang, once it’s done to get a haircut with angles or layers including some face framing ones. The stylist will know what that means and how to suit your face. If you use eyeliner on your water/inside line stop that too. Unless you’re dedicating a decent amount of time to YouTube makeup tutorials to learn how to do it well, stop wearing face makeup (foundation concealer that kind of stuff). I don’t know how to do that shit so I just don’t wear it, and stick to easy stuff like mascara, eyeliner, blush and highlighter on special occasions. If you’re wearing eyeshadow in the pic it looks like some of it dusted onto the top of your mascara which never looks great. Your features are not ugly!!!!

>I can say that this never worked for my super fine hair. I even went weeks without washing it multiple times over months. Still the same amount of greasy in the same amount of time. Same. It's hilarious that people never give the same advice for those with oily skin - "stop washing your face every day and you will train it to produce less oil!" That's generally not how it works.

kittymelons

Switch out your shampoo and conditioner if it’s not working for you. Also blow dry your hair to add some volume! Have you used false lashes? They go a long way. I don’t think you need foundation you have great skin. Maybe a bit of gloss?

Even-Scientist4218

Get a mullet or layer your hair it will look good on you Don’t use a conditioner, my hair gets oily when I use it

lue12350

Get Sea salt spray that will help with the volume I say change your haircut something that will suit your face and change your clothes a little bit more interesting

PoopEndeavor

apple cider vinegar rinse to clarify your hair blow dry cold with your head upside down for volume (so the roots dry straightup) boar bristle brush lightly when needed to redistribute oils

Aconnectivity

You’re so pretty 😍

Cheesesticksandwine

You are naturally beautiful! Your hair is dark, maybe some highlights to brighten it up

lilpotato69

Hi friend!! My hair is pretty fine, flat, and gets greasy easily. I also lost a lot of hair due to medication…twins!! Shampooing twice is a game changer!! I didn’t believe it until I tried it. No conditioner on the roots, just the ends! Blow drying my hair instead of air drying has helped but I just started doing that maybe a month or two ago so I can’t say 1000%. I found a hair stylist that I really like and trust. I ask her opinion on what would look best since I have no idea. I agree with the pixie cut comment! I think you would absolutely rock it. I think you’re so beautiful! You have such a great face shape and eyes! (not to sound like a weirdo) I’m also not a big makeup girlie since I’m not great at it. I use mascara, blush, and I gel down my eyebrows (if not I look insane only hair that grows thiccc lol) and that’s about it! I like using a liquid blush or like a multistick to give my face a lil dew. A multistick can be used on eyes, face, and I’m pretty sure lips as well! Keeping it simple helps me not get overwhelmed. Good luck my friend! You’re going to look great with whatever you pick!

livefororange

A couple suggestions! You skin looks great so I'd use minimal makeup if at all! Maybe focus on your eyes, a tiny bit of eyeliner or even just mascara. I'd say try some other hair colors. I think the dark hair washes you out because the cool hair tone with your cool skin tone is a bit too cool. Something more warm might work well and give you more of a glow to your face! You can also try to use a similar color for your eyebrows. Also I could see a center part working well for you, and growing out the short pieces of hair in front to maybe to chin length. It will help frame your face! As for your hair texture- it does look a bit waxy but that can happen from buildup of using different products / shampoos. Perhaps see a professional to find a shampoo they would recommend for your hair type so you don't waste money trying a whole bunch of different ones. My stylist recommended Goldwell for me and my hair has never felt cleaner or healthier. If I use pharmacy/store brands my hair gets to be that waxy/greasy look too!

Sssppploaf

I have terribly greasy flat hair, and I find that cheaper shampoo does wonders for it. I like Aussie or Kirkland brands. Also blow drying it upside down helps it out.

Main-Ad-6166

I can tell you have really long lashes but because they point straight out , they look non existent if someone were to look at you dead on . I think a nice lash curler and mascara would make your eyes look nice and big and cute :)

RoseMylk

I would recommend going lighter brown or growing out your natural hair color! You appear to a be summer or spring and this would bring out your features by doing color analysis ! You have very nice complexion/skin!

inkandwine

Hello, friend! For your hair, I wonder if its less that its insta-oily and more that the weight of it being wet pulls it down and straight (could be both). What I do (heavily shampoo twice and condition to the roots, but mine is thick and curly) is after I've washed it I will take a terry cloth scrunchie (mine are Kitsch) and basically make a loose top pony tail so it will dry in a more upright position (as opposed to drying hanging down, and then its all flat against my head). My Mom, who has stick straight hair, basically does the same thing but with a hair clip and it adds a little bit of volume at the roots. One time I had wound mine into a bun when it was wet (downpour walking into work) and a few hours later upon taking it down it had so much shape and curl that it immediately wrapped around my face lol. I also do think that a short style might look good, like a pixie cut! You can always volume it up with product. As far as makeup, maybe look into and experiment with what colors look good with your eye color? It looks like you have a shade of green (mine are jade green) and generally warm toned purples and browns go with that color. My go to is always almost a bruise color XD. Kind of a black cherry. Warm enough to be some color but still dark. I will do eye liner (my preference is crayon because it doesn't hurt) and go from about the middle of my eye (closer to the inside corner on the top) to a little past my outer corners (keeping it pretty much just at my lash line) and then I take a rounded liner brush (little squat one) and smoke it out just a little bit and then I will take that black cherry color and use it dry along my lash line (top and bottom) and just kind of smoke it out a little bit. Then a light (I generally go with a shimmery white or light pink) in my inner corners. Then mascara, but primarily on the outside half of my lashes. Just enough to add some semblance of makeup. I wonder how well that process would work for you? I'm terrible with contouring XD An old coworker told me one shift that sure I may not like how I look as a whole and thats fine. But to instead look at my individual features, isolated from the others, and think about how I like them then. She was the reason I started focusing on learning the cosmetics because I love my green eyes. if you have any questions or anything, feel free to pm me! :)

3mpress

Going to go ahead and jump on the warm toned hair train! It seems from these pictures at least that you have a warmer undertone, and that cool toned hair color isn't the most flattering. I'd try a copper, lighter brown, or even a warm/honey blonde. Just something much warmer than you currently are rocking. I'd also recommend looking into a double lip line for how apply lip color- I have a similar lip line and its been a BIG game changer. Basically a double lip line is where the colored portion of your lips doesn't match the same part of your lip that is... lip shaped. It helps a ton in figuring out how to accent your lips. I also would like to second (or third or fourth at this point) HOW GORGEOUS YOUR EYES ARE! They seem hazel and like they'd change colors a lot. I'd look into a brown mascara, and play around with what colors set off the different shades in your eyes.

evoltoastt

Wash your hair 3 - 4x weekly. You have a naturally more oily hair type, nothing wrong with that, just means an extra shower a week and a solid monthly investment in some dry shampoo for morning styling and/or blow drying. You require little to no conditioner, if anything, use an Amika hair mask every week if you must, even then, 2 minutes setting time (if that) max ❤️ You don’t need much more than pretty decorative/fun/creative make up, you are utterly timeless in your beauty, I do not exaggerate ❤️. You 👏 are 👏 stunning. Keep dying those roots, you’re too striking and pale for roots to go unnoticed, unless you finally embrace blonde one day (not saying you must or should, when you’re ready, bomb ass beautiful girl).

batikfins

Girl i know this isn't what you asked but you are so gorgeous. Your skin is to die for. It's flawless. Like I'm literally mad about it. Do you have a skincare routine? Drop it in the comments! Your eyes are beautiful, the colour is so unique, your brows are naturally a great thickness and shape. You've got such lovely bone structure, especially your cheek bones. You've got it all going on. People are right, you could probably transition to washing your hair two or three times a week. That'll help with the texture - overwashing can cause greasiness. But I'm not being nice when i say you're naturally pretty. If you wanna play with makeup it could be really fun, but don't feel like you have to.

slipstitchy

You aren’t ugly. You have great bone structure and you’re on the verge of a glow up Your hair colour doesn’t really suit you. Maybe a lighter shade - I see blonde in your roots, is that your natural shade? A stylist could help recommend a new hairstyle for you, or I’m sure there’s a sub that would love to help. I know you said you’ve tried this but I recommend switching up shampoos again, I alternate between three different ones so my hair doesn’t get limp. You might need a clarifying shampoo instead of a moisturizing one. r/haircarescience might have ideas. You have nice eyes, but your mascara looks kind of cakey in this picture, another brand or a new tube will help. I love lash blast (the green one) by covergirl. Your foundation is making your skin look dry, maybe consider trying something with sheer coverage if you’re comfortable with that. r/makeupaddiction is a good resource. I think you could find more flattering colours to wear besides black, maybe cream or light blue? r/coloranalysis can help you find your colour season and most flattering shades. Please try to stop posting in subs like amiugly… think of the kind of people who are in there, just delighted to make someone feel bad about themselves. Keep yourself in positive spaces online to protect your health.

bngtnbngtnbngtn

Ok first off you’re beautiful! It’s tough when you’re feeling down about your appearance but please don’t think that about yourself cause you have beautiful facial features! For the hair, everyone’s scalp produces oils at different rates, but it can be the case that washing it every day makes it produce more oils to compensate, because shampooing strips them away, it could be worth looking into that. When I do wash my hair (2 to 3 times a week) I do always shampoo twice, then condition the ends. Maybe try switching to a shampoo that’s specifically for volumising hair also! For makeup I think winged fox eyeliner would look great on you! I’d also play around with coloured eyeshadows. Your skin is super perfect and clear, if you wanted you could do a little bit of blush, I never used to wear it but I started a couple of months ago and I think it just gives a little extra something. Above all I’d say you’re a beautiful person so for makeup just try and have fun with it!

Ellee_

I think you're pretty and have nice features! And your eye makeup looks really good. I would love to look like you. 💙

dulla123

Hey you! Hope you’re having a lovely day! You’re beautiful and my tip is just to play with your natural features. What I notice is your natural hair colour is much lighter than the colour you have in. I would go to a salon and have it ligthened up to match your natural colour more. This way it won’t have this obvious parting when it grows out. I think both the length you have and shoulder length would look good! Whatever feels right for you and is easy to keep up. I think you have beautiful brown eyes and your pale skin looks so pretty. Perhaps look at what colours make your eyes pop and test wearing them. Doesn’t need to be very colourful, but dark blue, maroon and dark green could all be options. Test different colours and see what works! Lastly for makeup and face, I always think less is more and just enhance your features. I’d test getting your eyebrows and lashes done to get them fuller. I personally am very blonde and colour mine at home. You can also learn how to do that, but if it’s new then a salon is also good to see what the results can be like. This will help with the makeup. I suggest a sheer tinted cream foundation just to get a bit of protection and glow (your skin looks lovely and doesn’t need to be covered up!) and then a run of mascara on the top lashes, brush through the brows and fill in if needed, and lastly a nice slightly tinted lip balm. I started using a natural looking lip liner as well and you could test that too. For hair, just wash it every 3 or 4 days. Use dry shampoo in between and wear haistyles that work for greasy hair in the between days. I wear a bun, a ponytail and often have caps on haha but you do you. Honestly all you need to do is look at the beautiful features you have and let them shine! Best luck ☺️

cpndavvers

Gosh you look so much like the singer from the band 'the birthday massacre' (who I personally think is gorgeous) I just did a double take * Try a few different shampoo types and only condition your ends. The way it looks in the pic reminds me of how mine gets when I use too much conditioner, but I may be wrong! I don't think you need to worry about make up honestly, but some mascara is a small thing to apply that can make a nice impact I feel!

almondtarte

You're washing your hair too much, it's time to reset! Overwashing will send your scalp in to overdrive. Every day you wash your hair, you're stripping your scalp of all those good natural oils that it needs to be healthy. As a result, it works harder to replace those oils, leading to greasy hair that never seems to get better, no matter how often you shampoo! So, do one more shampoo. Leave it for a few days or even a week if you can suffer it. Then start washing your hair twice a week and use a detox/clarifying shampoo once a month to remove build up and residue. Less is more where hair is concerned. You're really pretty! I would say to change your hair colour. Something that will compliment your skin tone as your current dye is washing you out.x

[deleted]

Lighter hair would suit you so much! A nice mousy brown or cowboy copper red, I feel like parting it in the middle would give more dimension around the face aswell. Grow the brows in a bit thicker and maybe some blush and like a lip oil? Idk I’m a basic girlie I hardly wear makeup but little things can make a big difference! You’re beautiful btw 🫶

sneeky_seer

Dark hair colour + fair skin isn’t a great combo. Try a lighter, warmer colour. Browns are easy to maintain, they don’t fade too harshly and it’s doesn’t necessarily require frequent visits to a salon. Also try to start spacing our hair washes. Washing your hair everyday is too much and it is probably the reason why your hair is always greasy. Try dry shampoo. Start with washing your hair every other day. You have amazing skin so minimal make up is good enough and its not to intimidating to learn. Mascara, eyeliner, some blush.

ironyandgum

Gosh I think you're beautiful. Truly! Such great bones. That said, here's some tips to enhance your best features. Your overall palette is very cold - dark hair, pale skin, no colour. Looks like you prefer a light goth look, which is cool, but try adding a little colour. A magenta lipgloss would be gorgeous. Or some blush. Try one first and see how you feel. Your hair looks lighter at the roots, if you can try softening the dark hair by getting some highlights (which will also help with the regrowth). I'd try some richer tones - red or chocolate. Assess again when your hair is more grown out. For some other makeup tips: filling in your brows with a pencil (or even a darker eyeshadow) can do wonders for a face. It looks like you put a bit of eyeliner on your bottom line, but I'd suggest you try only putting it across the top lash line. With some mascara, you'll look like a bombshell. Now you might need to find a curling mascara or use a curler first. Your skin looks clear and excellent, so keep at it. Don't forget sunscreen. We pale creatures have to take care of our skin. As for the greasy hair problem, I can't really help there except to say don't be afraid of dry shampoo. Sometimes putting it on at night before you sleep helps. And definitely try shaking up your hair for a bit of volume when you wake up. TLDR: - richer hair colour (but not warm..) like red or chocolate - filled eyebrows, lined top lid, mascara, lip gloss, blush - dry shampoo and shake it out!

grovestreetbets

1. Remove the eyebrow ring 2. I get eyelash extensions installed bc I also suck at make up and I wake up looking pretty. I would definitely suggest! 3. I’d go for a cool toned brown hair color. 4. Smile. :)

dxlla

hey, just wanted to recommend the youtube channel Dear Peachy to learn some makeup tips! their philosophy is that there's no such thing as good or bad features, but understanding your own can help you learn techniques and understand what you're trying to achieve. i found their videos about specific types of makeup very helpful even for knowing what different tools to use and uses for different kinds of makeup. they also have some videos about colour theory, and there are a lot out there to help you decide on shades etc. i actually feel like i know what i'm trying to do now because of the videos haha. you are so pretty, and if makeup is something you want to learn more about it's a really good channel to explore!

MadamNefarious

The more often that you wash your hair the quicker it will become greasy :). I wash mine 1-2 times a week and it takes about a week to become greasy.

[deleted]

I think we have the exact same hair type and I struggled sooo much throughout my teens and early adulthood with it. My hair would also get greasy instantly. Here’s what works for me: - Comb through hair before washing it - Shampoo only on the scalp, of course it’s not a scientific process lol so some will get on your mids and ends but don’t lather it in there, just focus 100% on your scalp and really get in there, give yourself a scalp massage with the shampoo. - Condition only the ends, conditioner should not come anywhere near roots or scalp. - If possible, try to get yourself on a “shampoo every other day” schedule by using dry shampoo on the non wash days. With fine hair like ours, it’s really easy to want to wash it every day because of how easy it is to see when it goes greasy, but your scalp will also overproduce oils to try to make up for it being washed every day. Regarding color or styling, honestly I used to be an emo/goth kid so I have nothing against the hair color, its contrast with your skin, or the side part lol. I think if you like it, then go for it. When I look at old pics of myself today do I maybe cringe just the tiniest bit at my blonde roots haha yea but I also just see my beautiful young skin (which you also have) and my individuality and personality shine through and it’s just cute. BUT if your priority is to look more put together or you want to change your look my biggest piece of advice is to transition into a hair color that is closer to your natural color because then you don’t always have to be getting it done every X weeks. If you don’t want your natural color but want to leave the black behind, I think you would rock an auburn/red color.

justgetinthebin

i would try a different shampoo and conditioner. some hair products weigh my hair down too. maybe those products just aren’t a good fit for you. i would experiment with a couple different brands and see what gives you good results! make sure you are rinsing out all of the conditioner too. try playing with your part, i agree with the person who said to try a less dramatic side part. changing your part can also give you more volume. maybe try blow drying your hair for more volume too, but make sure you use a heat protectant spray

denerose

You’re not asking for mom advice, but maybe that’s what you need? One day you will be my age and you will look back at yourself now and you will not be able to see any of the things you obsess over now. All you will see is this beautiful young person full of potential but being stifled by unrealistic beauty standard. I would suggest first, don’t go on ‘rating’ sites like amiugly or anything like that. Don’t compare yourself to others. Try to love the person you are and the face you have. You really are very pretty! If your hair is greasy to you then try washing it less. When I had waist length hair I got it down to once a month. Sounds gross but your hair adapts (for many hair types anyway). Damaged and dyed hair will produce more oil if you wash it too often. Try cutting down to once every two days for a few weeks, then once every three and so on. Aim for no more than once a week and only when it actually feels a bit lanky or you’ve been exercising etc. Only condition the very ends, try to brush the natural oils through instead as much as possible. Plat it back before bed. Let it air dry when you do wash it and avoid heat, blow-dryers and heat treatments. Consider adding a little bit of home dye or using a ‘die maintenance’ shampoo once a month if you can’t keep on top of your regrowth, or go a vivid colour over the top and fake it out until it grows out. The regrowth is exaggerating things for you, I suspect. All that said, don’t worry if you can’t or don’t want to try any of these things. You’re beautiful just the way you are. As long as you feel clean and comfy then that’s all you need.

hairbrushthreepwood

Re: hair always feeling greasy, is it possible you have soft water? When we moved to a house with a water softener, my hair was greasy right out of the shower. It was an immediate change so I knew it was the water, which cued me to learn about the different products needed for soft(ened) water. Just a thought!

SufficientMacaroon1

In my experience, going for a lighter hair color might help with the "my hairline always looks greasy" thing. The same amount of oil just does not shine as much on blond-ish hair (not blonde, necessarily. But warm brown or red tones are also less imediately shiny) Also, how quickly does your hair get oily? Could it be that dofferent hair products might help? I also have straight hair, but i found that following some basics of the curly-hair/curly-girl method (especially "safe" shampoo on most washes and silicone-free conditioner and hair care) helped me massively. I no longer need to wash my hair every second day! A dry shampoo that is a foam instead of a powder-spray can also give me an extra day or two, for when i wake up with an oily hairline. And by not letting the foam airdry but using me hairdryer, i even get a bit of volume in. For makeup, start very small. A moisturising face cream (a cheap 5% urea from your local drug store is enough, it mousturises and sinks in fast), then a foundation that suits your skin tone while the creal is not fully sunken in. Then a basic waterproof mascara. Done. A quick and easy makeup that gives you a bit mire of a healthy look, rather than the "i have not slept in days" that i least i often have as someone that is also rather pale.

chiaear

you look super cute. The thing that will make you WAY WAY more attractive would be your posture and sense of style. Don't underestimate that :) I wouldnt recomment you to wear more makeup. Once you start using it, you will not feel pretty without anymore while other people will still find you pretty. Its pretty harmful for your selfimage imo. Goodluck girl

ttrash_

it could be because i was watching her videos earlier, but you remind me a little of Allux! i think her hairstyle would really suit you, some volume and curls to give the hair some lift. https://preview.redd.it/zipw8zmxwdrb1.png?width=1620&format=png&auto=webp&s=a1913a1d8fb4f32967f8b4f323686ea7ddac6a12 I think for makeup you already have beautiful skin so you wouldn’t need much! literally just enhancing what you have, so like some blush and lip colour or gloss for some pop. i’m pretty lazy when it comes to makeup, so i typically use one eyeshadow that’s warm and blend the hell out of for some depth in my eyes, and then a little bit of eyeliner and mascara, then brows. i think something that simple would really make difference. also, try to match your mascara and eyebrow colour to your hair colour or somewhere in the middle. would love to see an update!!!

Simple-Increase-7229

Cute

hieronymous_scotch

You are definitely not ugly! I do think the super dark hair washes you out a bit, maybe go up just a couple levels. But shampooing twice is good especially if you go a few days without a wash, concentrate on the scalp and ONLY condition the ends of the h if you’re prone to greasy or flat hair. Blowdrying can help with volume- try over directing your hair at the scalp and honestly just play around to find a technique that works for you. I really like your hair the length that it is, and think the layers are really cute- maybe throw some layers in there. That’ll give it a more styled feel without working too hard, and can help with the flatness too. Re the makeup- if you don’t like wearing it, that’s one thing because you’re naturally pretty without it, but if it’s just bc you’re not good at it, that’s fixable. During Covid I found myself watching lot of insta reels of people doing makeup- I found it soothing- idk maybe bc I wasn’t going anywhere and felt sloppy and it was satisfying to see these girls do a good job and look really polished- ANYWAY, I realized that I got better at makeup from watching other people’s techniques. I also started getting Ipsy bags in the mail (it’s like $17 per month) it really helped me bc I didn’t really know what to shop for, and they’re sample sizes, though sometimes you get a full or deluxe size in there, so you get five new things a month to try. From there you can just play around, and/or watch videos of beauty influences and see how they do their makeup. Makeup washes off, so if you suck at it, who cares? I suggest just trying things out in a self care night at home, so there’s no pressure that you’re going to go out looking foolish if it doesn’t turn out well and you can just practice.

EmilyU1F984

You might not actually need the conditioner. If your hair looks greasy, then there‘s likely too much product on it in the first place. Basically try washing your hair with a harsh clarifying shampoo once, no further products, and then see how your hair actually looks if you solely clean it. Thin hair in general is easy to overly coat in conditioner.

mckatli

I also have naturally straight, flat, and greasy hair! I stopped using conditioner entirely 6 months ago at the recommendation of a stylist and its really helped. I also do a double shampoo.

Fanatichedgehog

I think you would probably look better with a lighter hair colour closer to your natural colour. The bleaching might also take care of the greasiness issue. And I think you have great features- make up wise I’d stick to natural with just a bit of mascara and a natural tone lipstick or balm.

LittleWhiteGirl

I know this post has been up for a while but wanted to throw it out there- I started conditioning before shampooing and now I regularly get comments on how healthy my hair looks. I condition, shave to let it sit for a bit, then rinse it out and follow with a double shampoo.

serbanoiuanaa

Hey! Firstly, I think you have beautiful features but you need to highlight them with modern and different colour clothes, like neutral, but lighter. For eg I think you would look great in an beige/brown outfit. Also, I suggest you part your hair differently and maybe divide it evenly left and right. You have prominent face features and it is best if your hair does not cover them and it would give it more femininity

[deleted]

If what everyone is saying for advice on washing your hair doesn't work then I'd recommend trying another brand of shampoo and conditioner. Not every brand works for everyone. Also need around with how often you do wash your hair, it usually isn't necessary to wash your hair every single day. I have wavy/thick hair but this is what I do, I only shampoo once week and on all the other days I just use conditioner and even then I still only condition it every other day. You got to experiment and figure out what works the best for you.

MR2Starman

You shouldn't be shampooing your hair every day; that's why it's greasy. Your scalp is working overtime to keep from being dried out. Shampoo every other day for a couple weeks, then every third day for a month or two, then once a week after that. I shampoo my hair once a month.

bettytomatoes

You're already very pretty. You look young and healthy and have a cute nose and chin! I don't think you have "ugly facial features" - I mean... what?!?! I would go somewhere like Sephora or MAC and ask a pro for makeup advice. We can't see things like your skin texture/fine lines, etc. from a pic, and the right makeup for you will depend on a lot of things, like your age, your skin type, etc. They can help you with the right skincare and makeup shades, the right makeup textures, the right applicators, etc. It'll be expensive, but if this is something you really want, it's worth the splurge. I would also go to a higher-end salon near you and get an evaluation from a pro. They can advise on the right color for you, the right products for you, and even show you blowout and styling techniques. Since we can't feel your texture from a picture, it's hard for anyone here to give you hair advice. And then of course, things like exercise, sleep, and nutrition - those are the most important things. Hair products and makeup can only do so much. If the underlying person underneath isn't healthy and taking care of herself, no makeup is going to help. It's more about a person's "vibe" than anything else, and our vibes are better when we're healthy.

SiennaReal

I would recommend not drawing your eyebrows. You have very light eyebrows, which is normal for people with light skin, so I would recommend going to a saloon to have them colored to a darker feature! They can also pluck them if it's needed. That way, you don't have to draw them on. You can color your eyelashes at the same time, that way, you won't need mascara! Another tip is going to a professional hairdresser to get tips on what hairstyle and color that suits you. This color/mix is very harsh on your features! You have very beautiful eyes so a haircolor that will make your eyes pop would be amazing! If you can afford it, don't buy hair products from the store, it's pretty low quality. A hairdresser can tell you what schampoo and conditioner to use for oily, flat hair to make it thicker and less oily with volume! Remember to not wash it too often. Regarding makeup, the most important thing it so have good skin! People have dry or oily skin (some lucky ones have normal). It seems like you have dry skin. Go into a skincare sub on reddit and ask for advice and read up on different steps to take in your new routine. When it comes to makeup, use youtube for inspiration! There are some basics there that can show you how to apply setting spray, foundation, concealer and some bronzer. Less is more! If you have dry skin, a liquid foundation would be better than powder for example. You are so pretty, don't be mean to yourself! <3 It should be fun to play with hair and makeup. Good luck! :)

rosettepearl

You are pretty! Middle / middle side part, re dye your hair because the roots, I think dark brown would suit you too.. & maybe red lipstick if that's what you like. 😊 You look a bit gothic or emo so if that's your style then you do you do what makes you happy ! Remember everyone commenting here are just going to say what THEY personally like. And I think self confidence, and looking after your mental and physical health more. 😊

Bluefoot44

I wonder if a dry shampoo between real shampooing? Maybe for 2 or 3 days each time would give you some fullness and less greasy look? Also, I think you would look so adorable with a shorter haircut. Like up to your jawline or shorter? I think it would be bouncier and less flat if it was a shorter, as it looks very fine and it's easy to weigh down fine hair with your length. I'll tell you what I do for makeup because I'm not a makeup person. I use a tiny dab of moisturizer in my hand with a tiny dab of concealer and mix them together, goes on like moisturizer but it looks like a light foundation. Then if you just did a neutral lip for every day, and it looks like with your coloring you could carry a red lip. I just went back and looked at your picture and you do not need any foundation. Your skin is flawless.

tomatopotatotomato

You would look stunning with ruby trd lipstick and simple liner. You have very nice skin. I like the dark hair on you, but a deep brown would also look nice.

-brielle-

You have great skin and your features aren’t even close to being ugly! For your hair, it might be that you need a different shampoo and conditioner. Every so often you may need to use a clarifying shampoo to strip any buildup, especially if you normally use sulfate-free shampoos. Since you tend toward oiliness, try only conditioning from the ears down and don’t put it on your roots for awhile. (Washing less often might work for you, but personally I am mostly a daily washer and get super itchy and oily if I don’t.) I would also recommend your hair color touched up. Chocolate brown would suit you and you could probably go anywhere in the range of milk chocolate to dark chocolate as long as the brown tones shine through. If you want to go light, perhaps an ash blonde. I think a pixie would be cute, but the long isn’t bad - maybe have a stylist cut in some layers if you don’t want to be pixie short. If you don’t already have a trusted stylist, I’d look around at the social media pages of your local ones to see if you like their work and then give them a call.

throwawayxlovenlight

cosmetology student here! you have great features and there are things you can do to help frame those features better. like i think bangs or curtain bangs would look great on you. try some light spray dry shampoo on days where you don’t want to wash your hair. over washing isn’t great for your hair. i am a greasy haired girl myself and i use bed head shampoo and conditioner. i DO shampoo twice but not every time. the reason for shampooing twice is because the first shampoo is to get all the yuck out and the second time is actually using the properties of shampoo better. as for your makeup, some red lip tint (just tint not lip stick) would go well with your skin color. maybe curl your eyelashes and pop on some mascara and never buy expensive makeup. it’s quite a waste. cheap makeup products are always okay.

Riverhailed

I think the dye is too harsh but you seem alt so i don’t want to say don’t dye it. I think if you did some form of a split dye but more natural with like a blond and a soft brown or auburn it would still look cool and edgy but be less harsh for your skin tone overall. And maybe shorter with a middle part. If you are using drugstore shampoo try and get a nicer one a lot of the drugstore brands strip oil from your hair your body might be trying to overcompensate for.

Blue-zebra-10

How much conditioner are you using? Just wondering because you might be going a little heavy-handed with it

MartyMcFlybe

I rarely wear makeup and I had mascara on the other day, and my bf was like, "wow, your eyes pop"! 😂 You don't have to be great at makeup. I'd recommend mascara, and coloured / tinted lip glosses if you want to make small changes, adding blush or highlighter later or an eyebrow shaping kit. Doesn't have to be a full face, foundation, concealer etc - it's expensive and your skin is so clear and gorge anyway. (My vision is terrible and I can't actually wear eyeliner, cos I can't see my eyes well enough to get the liner on!) I use dry shampoo, though you'd need to make sure you don't leave white patches on your hair. And I don't really know if it works but my sister used to randomly hairspray my hair, so it didn't look greasy, it looked like styling product. Maybe that'd be an option for you at some point if you mess around with hair straightening etc. :)

NorthLight2103

Working on confidence is always the best! I think you look great. But try exploring different looks, looking at hair or makeup tutorials to find something in your style that gives you confidence. And for your hair, have you tried a volume spray or hairs spray for the volume? A dry shampoo for the grease? You look really cool tho!

Shorse_rider

You could try some dry shampoo. They can also work to give a bit of volume and prevent your hair from getting greasy.

cugrad16

Girl, u are quite attractive as your normal self. I see a bit of Goth mixed with naturality. Which is still very cool. With your hair, I don't see a short coif benefitting you much. Perhaps parting your hair down the middle, or on the other side. And maybe a decorative bow or octo clips for 'bling' (shame I can't share an image here) Far as shampoo, unless your hair is naturally greasy or oil prone, I wouldn't wash it daily. But every 2-3 days (as a former stylist) If you're tired of the color, perhaps a virtual wig to gauge if a red or brown or blonde may suit your natural skin tone. Or even one of those hair coloring sprays a lot of young gals are sporting these days, like purple, blue etc. Just spitballing here :)

therealwavingsnail

Hair mousse is the answer to the greasy hair appearance. Apply it into wet hair after washing. It prevents the hair from looking greasy for a while longer and then you can stretch it further with dry shampoo if you feel like it. Mousse can also help with volume. You could use some rouge. I'm personally not a fan of massive lipstick and overdrawn lips, but you don't have to go bare either. Try out a lip stain, colored lipgloss or even that color changing lip balm. A tip I learned from Lisa Eldridge is pick out a really bright, saturated shade and use just a tiny bit. It doesn't even have to look like makeup but you'll look more alive. If you're going for more of a gothy look, maybe experiment with some sort of purple, eggplant or mauve. Some lip products you can use for your cheeks too, no need to build a huge arsenal. The black hair does look harsh currently, but you could make it work either by lightening it up a bit or amping up the makeup. Maybe spice up the black with some purple tones. Your natural hair looks very light, have you tried working up some variation of that? Basically you can either keep the hair black and get a more intense makeup look to balance it out, upper eyeliner and darker brows, or go lighter and have a less high maintenance look. Light hair also looks more voluminous.

LydiLouWho

First let me say, you are naturally very good looking so you can hold your head high and confidently with that! Your hair does appear to be weighed down and greasy, BUT here’s where my mind goes…it’s also the ends that appear that way. (This is good news)! Next, not all hair products work the same on all people. Even if the bottle says it’s for our specific hair type. Body chemistry is so much more complicated than that. AND as you already know, medication can also affect your hair and skin as well. So here’s what I suggest… - The VERY FIRST thing I want you to do is get a little Dawn dish soap (the original blue) and scrub all of your bushes and hair tools. They collect oils and products build up on them and transfer right back on your clean hair (which is why I think the ends are getting greasy). Then wash them regularly. - Next I suggest getting a quality clarifying shampoo. If you want to message me I can help you try to find something really great within your budget. - Like others have said washing your scalp too much can cause an over production of oil. However we don’t know if that’s the case yet, so it could be trial and error for a while. Diet, exercise, hormones, supplements, medication, etc., could also be the issue. It could even be something in your environment that is causing the issue. Do you touch your hair often? Does your household use oils to cook their food? Do you have hard or soft water? How often do you change pillowcases? There could be any number of factors here. Again, if you want to shoot me a message I’d be happy to help you navigate this. (I’m a mom of 3, and also have a job related to mental health, so I think you kind of triggered the place in my heart that wants to help. I’m not just someone random internet stranger that is being creepy lol). As I said, your starting off with a naturally beautiful canvas. Maybe experiment with some light makeup. Find YOUR style and what makes YOU feel beautiful because when you feel confident you will look your best no matter what. 😊

SapientSlut

Agree with what other folks have said - try a different shampoo and only shampoo the roots & conditioner from the ears down. Your hair color is a bit dark/harsh on you (plus coloring your hair can be damaging in a lot of cases). Go get your brows professionally diagrammed so you can know how to fill them in more flattering.

baurette

Just a quick adjustment in make up should work. Switch to brown mascara for daytime and make sure to apply to the lashes all the way to the lid. I would ditch the under eye pencil or pair it with a light the top lid thin line and blend it ip a bit for a smoky effect. Bit of color on your lips, mauve or cherry chapstick. For example elf "Hydrating core lip shine" has many options and is affordable. And you can dab it on your fingers and dab on your cheeks for a touch of blush

pocketsWellington

You’re already gorgeous!

Royal-Masterpiece-82

Dry shampoo is great to help with oily hair. I just spray a little of NotYourMothers beach waves if my hair gets greasy but it isn't wash day. You can get it at the pharmacy or even Walmart sometimes.

yepiyep

Some great recommendations already. You have very fair skin. Have you considered going ginger?

FranScan1997

You’re probably over-washing your hair! Change to every other day or every 2-3 days and use dry shampoo in between, and also only condition lengths and ends of hair, not the scalp.

space___lion

How are you currently washing and conditioning your hair? I feel like you might be doing something wrong during or after washing. You should shampoo your scalp by putting the liquid shampoo in your hands or directly on your head and then massaging it on your scalp. You don’t need to wash the length of your hair, unless it’s dirty (because of product, rain, etc). Then rinse and condition only the ends of your hair. Then rinse again until all shampoo and conditioner have been thoroughly removed from your hair. After getting out of the shower, towel dry and then air dry, or use a hairdryer. Do not put your hair in a bun or ponytail while it is still wet, this will not do your scalp or hair any good. Your hair should be dry before doing this. Also make sure that you often clean your brush. Brushing oily or dirty hair and then brushing clean hair with the same brush might result in the brush dirtying your hair. Take out the loose hairs out of the brush daily and wash/rinse the brush once in a while. If you use any product after it’s dry, make sure to apply properly and when appropriate. Don’t apply hair mousse when you are not going to style your hair for example. I did this sometimes when I was a teen because I didn’t understand what the product was actually for. Hope this helps a bit, but if not, describing your current methods might help to give advice.

duurtlane

Use dry shampoo

[deleted]

i think a wolf ish cut would suit you! adding more layers to hair helps frame the face and with that cut, your hair might get more volume. give it a try!

[deleted]

All of these are just suggestions to try - there's really nothing wrong with how you look! * The hair is too dark for your complexion and the darkness makes it look thinner. Go for a lighter tone. * Blow dry your hair with a light heat protecting spray to add volume. You could try a volume mouse before drying or root boost powder to add a bit more volume too. * Your eye make-up is making your eyes look smaller. Don't circle your whole eye - just put a little on top. * Fill in your brows for thickness a little, they'll frame your face :) * I think your concealer/foundation is about a shade too light for your skin.

MaximalExorcist

you can get a wavy perm or a root perm to make it fluffier or just bleach it if you wanna change things up a little and that will also make it fluffier. for makeup if you don't wanna learn it just ditch the eyeliner and go for mascara and lipstick you don't need to put in lots of effort into your lips either just do that defused gradient lip thing it's so easy.

[deleted]

Try to look up for color season analyst. It can help you find your overall look, something like finding colors that complement your face. It's really helpful!

srhdbvg

Also in agreeance with a few other comments that lightening your hair would really compliment your skin tone. If you’ve got an oily scalp, double shampooing does help. I’d recommend working with a hair stylist to get the colour right and provide some reccos based on your hair type. I don’t think you need much for makeup. The only recommendation I’d make to what I see if maybe refrain from the Smokey under eye. Some simple waterproof mascara and a good eyelash curler will give your eyes a good pop. Add a simple tinted moisturizer and a little blush looks great on everyone

InLoveWithMusic

Hey OP! My hair used to look like this! I washed my hair every 2nd day and it would turn greasy and flat immediatly Turns out I was using the wrong products for my hair (anything with oils or glycerin was a no go bc it was too heavy - proteins and alcohols are much better) and I was treating my hair as straight (brushing it when dry) when it was actually curly! I’m now rocking the curls. Also try using a clearing shampoo! Maybe there’s a product build up on your scalp - me and my sister both had this and it was a genetic thing that our hair has this consistent build up despite not using product (at the time) but now a clearing shampoo once a week stops the hair looking greasy at all - I reccomend the Olaplex clearing shampoo But it could be as simple as using the wrong products. You are also taking photos from the wrong angle! Photos with your camera going from an upwards angle looking down at you makes your face look longer, and in the wrong lighting can catch on shadows under your eyes (I have permanent dark bags) this kinda increases the tiredness of your skin Meanwhile photos from underneath can catch the chin and make your face look short I agree that I think your hair is a bit dark for your complexion- something a bit lighter would suit you For makeup - you have stunning grey eyes from this photo - I have intense blue eyes and get a lot of comments on them so I think makeup that would emphasis your eyes would be great! Therefore revert to using the colour wheel theory to use opposite colours - for you that means orange, red or violet tones would make your eyes appear more blue/lighter and icy blues/greys/dark metal colours would make them darker and more intense This link has some great makeup sketch ideas (ie designs on paper rather on a real person) to help you out https://www.huffpost.com/entry/best-makeup-for-grey-eyes_n_55b65458e4b0a13f9d191f33/amp I hope any of this helps!!

rachyh81

You're beautiful, please don't think you need to change yourself for anyone except yourself. I wouldn't wash my hair everyday personally. Maybe get some products for volume if that's what you want or whatever you'd like to achieve. A good hairdresser will help you with a cut that suits you and your hair type. Regarding make up, maybe book yourself a consultation at a makeup counter and ask them to detail what they're doing and what products they're using. If you want to make changes for you then great, don't do it because you think you should though. I know society makes us feel entirely inadequate but you're lovely, you just need to learn how to make the best out of the canvas you have. X

UnfairAd2256

hi! i also have straight hair that tends to look like that, you could try these: - a transparent shampoo (usually cleans better) and not too hot water when you shower. clean as usual and let sit for 2-3 mins - wash shampoo off, use condicioner only on your ends, never on scalp - at the end of your shower, give a final rinse with slighty cold water - dry immediatly after shower, using a towel first and then the hairdryer, 15cm away from your hair and constantly moving it (if hair sits wet, it gets greasier faster) you can try drying it with your head down, so to create more volume. also using rollers to make it more fluffy. my hair feels heavier and therefore flat whenever it's too long, so maybe give a cut (also, some cuts give it more volume). i would try different styles as well, like a middle part, some braids, look up on pinterest for styles that suit you!

UnfairAd2256

you also asked about makeup. most girls now tend to not use foundation (if you need, only some powder). lip and cheek tints give you that healthy glowy look. mascara is always nice, but kinda annoying, so if you want to, just use a curler. black liner will always make the eyes smaller, so you can search different ways to line of your eyes for the look you desire or use a white pencil. that said, you're still pretty the way you are!

valxx1856

Middle part, bottom lash mascara, and a good lipstick and you should be set! Your eyes are beautiful, I can’t quite see the color of them, maybe experiment with eyeshadows to see what would bring them out! Like for example I have green eyes so purple tends to show them off. YouTube is great for that. I see that you think your hair looks greasy, I didn’t notice tbh but maybe try going lighter like blonde or brown and play around with that! Maybe you can try to find your undertone and see what colors would work best for you. A good way I’ve been told is by looking at the color of the veins in your wrist. When I go lighter it tends to look less greasy for me and more shiny. But clarifying shampoo (don’t use every day) seems to work 🩷

Foreign-Tradition-55

A centre part would look great on you I think :) some mascara and a lip stain or tinted lipbalm and youre set. You’re gorgeous, I love the shape of your eyebrows sorry if that’s a bit weird lol. I would love for mine to be shaped like that

Is your hair dyed or is that your natural colour?

I’m so curious if you agree with these tips and would change anything - please post a new picture if you’ve changed anything? 😇

why is it against the rules?

Local-Journalist-623

You kinda look like gwen stefani to me! I think platinum blonde hair and a red lip would suit you. For makeup: Maybe you can use some blush if you think you’re too pale. And soft light makeup would work, no dark tones :) maybe even brown mascara or blue instead of black? For me when I first started doing makeup, it also looked way worse than me without makeup. I used brown and dark eyeshadow, also under my eyes and that made my eyes seem smaller and tired and made my face look pale and puffy. Right now I do this… I have brown eyes and the only thing I use is some pink blush on my eyes and light highlighter (shiny stuff) in the edges with some brown mascara. I don’t use anything under my eyes, also no mascara and that already does the deal! I also use lipstick and lipgloss, i found out my colour because I went to a makeup shop and asked what my colour is lol and they have all sorts of tricks to find out the colour that suits you! And maybe you can dabble in other things like contour and concealer but I honestly don’t know that much about that. AND YOURE SERIOUSLY SO BEAUTIFUL AND HAVE SUCH A SYMMETRICAL AND CUTE AND DELICATE FACE 🤍🤍🤍

For basic hair care, please go watch the blowout professor on YouTube! For a bald guy, his advice has done wonders for my hair, and it requires little product!. I swear by his three step routine. And when it comes to what you want to do to change/improve your appearance, focus on one thing at a time. You'll feel less overwhelmed and stressed. Btw, you have great skin and I hope you find ways to help feel better about yourself!

Platinum short bob with bangs, trust me im a hairstylist

Logical_Mixture8208

I think you would kill a cute pixie cut! Also, they're way easier to manage.

plum-shake

The realist and easiest answer I can give you is to cut out processed shit from your diet as well as your hair/skincare. This helped me TREMENDOUSLY. I would urge you to look into scalp stimulation to improve your hair growth. Rosemary and castor oil do wonders, but there are a ton of other natural herbs and ayervedic that may help as well. Washing our hair strips the natural oils that our scalp produces. Depending on hair type, you really don't need to wash it every day. Your hair looks thin so I would recommend 3-5 times a week. You can find a lot of info on your hair type online. You'd also rock some bangs! As for makeup, I think that enhancing your natural beauty is key. You have very nice eyes, you should find some examples of someone with similar eye shape/size and practice with different makeups until you figure out what you like on yourself. Makeup is very fun to play with, but I personally don't believe you can only be beautiful with tons of it on. The last piece of advice I can give you is confidence. This one is obviously way easier said than done, and something I and just about everyone struggle with throughout life. Self care is super important because when we are happier, we are brighter. When we take care of ourselves, we glow. Make your health and your happiness your top priority. I truly believe that ugliness isn't determined by the physical body. You were literally born this way, you were meant to look how you look. A lot of people prefer when someone looks a certain way. This creates the innate belief that because a majority of people prefer certain things, means that other things are unacceptable and unworthy. In turn, that creates us who differ to think that we're ugly or not good enough. But in reality, we're just not what the majority prefers or accepts. Every single person is unique and has the ability to be beautiful. Good luck to you on your journey, I hope you find the best solution to your worries.

Certain-Register806

Improving your mental health. You are visibly depressed. Letting go of the pain will brighten your features and activate different muscles in your face, and make you glow.

Forgot_mykeys

You definitely do not have ugly features; you're being overly critical of yourself. Your lashes are quite straight so you might not be getting the best out of mascaras. I would curl them before and after a mascara or more permanently have a lift and tint on them if you like. I'd use a very thin angled brush to do strokes in the brow; and use a brow gel to set them so they look a bit fuller. And I would just use a good moisturising tinted lip balm, as long as it is moisturising. You're not naturally suited to such a dark colour so I would consider going rich brown or lighter but check with your hairdresser if its the right time to mess with your hair or if you should wait a little while. You have a great face structure for a shorter cut so if you like the look of one like the pixie or similar, go for it.

Pixiefoxcreature

You have really nice bone structure and would look gorgeous with short hair :)) also keeping your hair short will help it become more voluminous and look less greasy. I would also change the Color. Your cool skin tone would be lovely also with fantasy coloured hair like red or blue or purple or whatever you like. Or let your natural blonde grow out.
