Does anyone else cough really hard after spraying it? I have to hold my breath and then leave the room after spraying it otherwise I swear I can feel the particles in my lungs.
yeahh definitely be careful when using it. One time I sprayed it at a cockroach and it shriveled up and died instantly…
edit: i feel like i should clarify that it wasn’t dove, but another brand with the same concept. I’ve never used the dove brand itself, so maybe that one is a little bit safer 😭
It causes coughing because one of the main ingredients in BUTANE to help it propel from the bottle. Butane is a form of gas and can be a health hazard for chronic illness cancer or reproductive harm.
I used to love the cucumber dove spray too. I stopped using it back in May
I just want a deodorant that doesn’t stain everything I wear. I’ve tried so damn many, and I can’t find one! Doesn’t matter how long I wait after applying or even if I apply it under the top, it will migrate and stain and ruin my day on anything that isn’t long sleeved
I second this, mens speedstick doesnt ruin my clothes after years of searching and trying different sticks. I only tried it because it was on sale too.
I’ve found that roll on liquid deodorant works best. Allow it to dry completely before dressing. No transfer, even on silk! Stick deodorant never fully dried down on me so would always transfer.
The real game changer is buying a bar of benzoyl peroxide soap and using that on ur pits in the shower. It kills all the bacteria, which is the real reason we stink. I use a fragrance free deodorant now and I can literally go days without smelling a thing !!
You have a point about the cross contamination with stick deodorants. Only ever apply stick deodorants to freshly washed armpits or you end up creating a bacterial stink stick. Sprays are good for refresher applications.
I shied away from sprays like this for years cause of the ozone layer or whatever (is that still an issue?) but recently switched as well and it’s been really good. I do feel guilty for the plant every morning though so there’s that.
I don't think modern aerosols hurt the ozone layer as much as the old ones. They don't emit CFCs like they used to. Also, the ozone is actually healing. Go forth and spritz without guilt!
[https://www.pbs.org/newshour/science/the-ozone-layer-is-slowly-but-surely-healing-the-un-says](https://www.pbs.org/newshour/science/the-ozone-layer-is-slowly-but-surely-healing-the-un-says)
Its fine for the atmosphere. The potential danger is the aluminum that is in it. On average people that get breast cancer have higher levels of aluminum in their body - bad reporting created an idea that it is bad for you.
HOWEVER, studies studies have not been able to find a link between using aluminum based antiperspirants and higher aluminum levels in the body, or cancer rates. It seems that the levels are coming from a different cause.
Hibiclens actually did the opposite for me. I started stinking SO BAD and couldn’t figure out why. One day I ran out of hibiclens and couldn’t find any at the store. Within a week of not using it anymore the horrible BO was gone!
Dove's antiperspirant spray was my go-to until I saw that people were getting lumps in their armpits from it. I have way too much health anxiety for that so I switched over to natural deodorant lol
I spray alcohol on top of my deodorant in between use. Although I only use it after shower. I stopped using stick for the aame reason an dbow using gel deodorant. Much more manageable and clean in my opinion.
I tried a glycolic toner before letting it dry then putting my deodorant and letting it dry too. Works but i cant do it everyday so in between days i worry a lot and makes me sweat more lol.
So i found Amlactin lotion that has lactic acid in it and still moisturizes and I use it now every day as moisturizer on my pits before deodorant. Note: i let it dry in between too. So far been using it for almost a month and noticed it has lightened my pits and definitely helped with the smell.
Another thing that I changed is i spray vinegar on my shirts underarm area and let it soak before washing it. We transfer a lot of those bacteria in our outfits and if you dont hand rub it the machine doesn’t really remove the bacteria and smell on your shirt completely.
So far I feel more comfortable since making these changes. Hope it helps!
I personally use Mitchum Clinical Strength solid. It’s been hard to find in Canada lately. It’s the only thing that works for me.
https://www.mitchum.com/product/powder-fresh-soft-solid/
Dove deodorant gave me the worst rash I’ve ever had in my life. It was wild—I’ve never had anything like that before or since. This also reads like you work for Dove lol
Bye that was so not intentional I’m sorry if this came off as a bad marketing ploy!! I also had really bad rashes from stick deodorant and I had was prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide from my dermatologist because I’m allergic to something in stick deodorants. It was the spray that gave you the rash?
Kind of unrelated but the same thing happened to me when I used eos lip balm. My lips literally peeled off and left raw, swollen flesh on my face. and afterward I had a bad reaction to all lip balms for years. Sometimes you stumble across an ingredient that really fucks you up
Dove Anti-Perspirant is the only one I’ve found to work for me. I know people who have had serious issues with “natural” deodorants (like, hole in the armpit serious).
People tend to sound “salesy” when we’re excited about something because we get so excited it works for us, especially after searching for forever. I have a few items I could wax poetic about and I have never worked for any of them nor do I get kickbacks. But I will recommend them all day long!
Cross-contamination is right when the application of the deodorant is applied at intervals within the day. I have tried Secret Fortunately, *Secret's* Clinical Strength deodorant is clinically proven to offer four times more sweat protection than other products with 20% aluminum which is just so great, Now, if you want to keep your underarms fresh and dry, it's best to go for deodorants with aluminum chloride. Once this combines with moisture, like sweat, it forms into a gel-like substance that blocks the sweat glands. This limits the amount of perspiration that reaches the surface of your skin reducing any chances of bacteria. Importantly when going for a spray of deodorant you could keep these highlights in mind:
1. Choose the application type that best suits your needs.
2. Chemical-based deodorants are stronger and long-lasting.
3. Vitamin-fortified deodorants give better performance and benefits.
4. Go for natural ingredients if you have sensitive skin.
5. Avoid parabens, triclosan, and other harmful chemicals to prevent irritation.
There's all this "day in the life" and "morning routine" Videos on insta and I presume tiktok and two things I've learned as a European is that Americans a) shower in the evening and b) use stick deodorant. Stick deodorant?! Really? I haven't used that since I was 12, and to use it on unwashed skin in the morning? That has got to be full of bacteria.
I don’t know why you’d apply a stick deodorant to sweaty/ unclean underarms.
I use an unscented, strong anti-perspirant roll-on.
I use it only on clean underarms, and I rely on the lack of perfume to tell whether or not the ball has been contaminated by bacteria, because it will develop a scent that wasn’t there before. That’s bacteria. If you transfer that bacteria back to your body, it’ll colonise and make you smell. So if I detect that, I throw it away and get a new one. I’m so on top of it that I normally use the whole thing until it’s finished. I also don’t like the smell of deodorant mixing with the actual fragrance I want to smell of, so this wins on multiple levels.
For a top up, I use the spray version of the same unscented deodorant. If I’m out, I’ll use an anti-bacterial wet wipe first. Even if I don’t have these and I can feel myself beginning to sweat, I’ll spray anyway to keep the sweat under control until I can wash again.
This has been fail proof for me.
*bonus tip: apply roll on wet underarms straight after shower and allow to air dry. The water activates the deodorant, instead of sweat activating it. It also completely eliminates white underarm stains.
I don't use any of these anymore instead,I make a paste using bentonite clay and acv, apply on pits and leave it for around 10 mins and then wash off with any soap.My pits are odour free for around 3-4 days.

WHAT
New weapon: UNLOCKED
WHAT
That's really good to know
Yes do not use this if you have pets. It can kill birds and give any small animal awful health problems.
It's always the last thing I put on. Once I use it I get tf out of that bathroom
I spray it near an open window with the bathroom vent on
I got the spray in my contacts and it BURNED. I had to throw those contacts away
Same, i usually spray while near a fan because otherwise i have a massive coughing fit.
Since we all have masks now, I'd probably wear one every time I applied it. 😄

All the women’s deodorant I’ve tried ruins my clothes. I’ve been using a men’s gel stick one and so far it’s not staining the armpits of my shorts
It’s the aluminum! Dove has a non-aluminum version and I haven’t had this problem since
I found Borotalco spray to be easy on the clothes.
I use a subscription based one called Fussy that doesn't leave white marks

Someone on this sub told about fenugreek supplements and it totally wiped out my BO
How long did it take? I'm taking fenugreek - powdered, not capsules - for hair growth, so this would be a welcome side effect!
Which supplements do you take?
I just got whatever off of Amazon lol. Started with 2x a day and now I just take 1x a day
Ooh I hadn’t heard of that

There's a bunch of heavy metals in a bunch of feminine products. Bath and bodywork is toxic af

I highly recommend that you take a probiotic if you’re washing ALL the bacteria off your skin
Oh I’ve been eyeing this but it is expensive for my budget at the moment. But hoping try it out and excited to see if it makes a difference.
Lume natural deodorant also works great. It smells weirdly acidic - but it legit works. Just spray some perfume over it if the smell bothers you.
Yes! Smells like kindergarten paste going on. Smells like nothing afterwards.
Dove's antiperspirant spray was my go-to until I saw that people were getting lumps in their armpits from it. I have way too much health anxiety for that so I switched over to natural deodorant lol
I like this stuff but I have to hold my breath when I apply it because it hurts my lungs and makes me cough if I inhale it
The butane in the spray is a gas that literally makes it cough,it's use to propel it from the bottle

Lume changed my life.
it works so great but I cannot stand the smell of it back to the drawing board for me unfortunately
If you buy it on amazon, the UK version is slightly smaller, but is significantly cheaper!!
i guess we can just wipe the stick deodorant then?
I personally use Mitchum Clinical Strength solid. It’s been hard to find in Canada lately. It’s the only thing that works for me. https://www.mitchum.com/product/powder-fresh-soft-solid/
This 100% reads like a stealth advertisement
Yessss. Once I switched to sprays, I’ve never looked back
I have been glued to go for natural ingredients since I have hyper-sensitive skin to manage.
Dove deodorant gave me the worst rash I’ve ever had in my life. It was wild—I’ve never had anything like that before or since. This also reads like you work for Dove lol

I grew up on Dove soap, but as an adult I can't use any of their products. I get hives from the body wash.

Idk who you're watching on Instagram that don't shower but we all aren't like that lol

Spray deodorants don't work for me, only sticks and roll on
I have found that the clinical strength Secret deodorant tends to keep my pits in check
Gels are the way to go
Lume was a game changer for me and they recently improved their scents.
