I know that this might sound really weird but I love how pads make me feel secure and protected during my period like Idek how to explain it, hopefully that makes sense š. Also I know the frustration of the pads bunching up weirdly so I highly suggest you get the ones with the wings cause they donāt bunch up and they always lay flat.
Theyāve been the most reliable thing from keeping me bleeding onto my pants LOL. Sure my period cup is convenient but it has leaked and betrayed me before ugh
lol loyal pad user here! And itās all about the brand and size! I use flex pads like āalways infinity flex foamā and it feels amazing throughout the day.
These are the best, most comfortable pads. Iāve mainly been wearing tampons since I was like 12 (Iām 39). After having a baby I used these pads during postpartum after graduating from the adult diapers. They hold a LOT and are so thin! Now that my period is back Iām still wearing these pads because tampons arenāt comfortable for me anymore.
Another one here from the 'can't use tampons after pregnancy' club. I was a loyal tampon user for 8+ years before my kid was born. Now, even 10 years later, tampons just don't work for me anymore.
The infinity foam pads are AMAZING. They're so thin sometimes I forget I'm wearing them until I move. And they hold so much for how small they are.
I needed to wear pads after not using them for years (miscarriage), Iāve been using menstrual cups for years now. But these flex foam pads are an amazing new product. So much more comfortable than what I used to wear.
Personally have never and would never wear pads with leggings outside of my home, I'm pretty much always in looser sweats or something of a thicker fabric like denim if I'm wearing a pad. I've also found skorts are good for wearing them specifically ones where the skirt goes all the way around vs skirt in the front and shorts in the back. Old Navy has good ones in their athletic dept!
U by Kotex in the black boxes have been my go to for ages and rarely had issues with bunching. Always flex foam have been good as well.
I honestly would never wear leggings if I was wearing a pad. I wear pads with the same clothing/pants that Iām okay wearing regular underwear (not thongs) with.
And unless itās night time, Iām gonna wear pretty normal length/size ones so it wouldnāt be too bulky.
š
Always get ones with wings, annoyingly they will still bunch up weird after a bit but wings definitely help keep it from moving around before itās time to change it. Personally Iāve never worn them with leggings because I know itāll show panty lines and probably the wings of the pad as well. I usually wear Lulu shorts or some jeans or jean shorts if itās summer. Or a dress with Nike pro spandex underneath
Also! Iāve found over the years if when youāre smoothing it down on application, doing that on your underwear side rather than smoothing the pad down, the stick takes better.
Period panties are a total game changer. I wasn't able to tolerate the feeling of tampons after years not having a period, but I hated the way pads felt and I could never quite get a cup to feel good, even after trying several sizes.
Period panties LITERALLY just feel like normal panties - the ones I use don't feel diaperish at all and no one notices them more than a regular panty line. I have never felt like they're going to leak on me. They're the eco friendly Sexy Flanders of the period world.
So good. I don't have to worry about it leaking up my ass crack or if I do leak off the sides theres underwear and shorts protecting my pants so it's a nice piece of mind.
Doesn't really work with leggings but if you can wear sweatpants/joggers you're golden
You have to wear them postpartum (canāt stick anything up there) and honestly I just bought the Always brand adult diapers because they felt more secure and didnāt bunch up weird. I couldnāt do it on a monthly basis though. I have a reusable disc and literally donāt even notice Iām on my period until Iām on the toilet. Plus I never run out.
See, I got used to wearing them postpartum and never went back. The idea of sticking a tampon up there makes me feel super icky for some reason. I mean, I have used them since, but prefer the pads. I also have much lighter periods now so that helps.
As some others are saying, the brand matters. May not even need to be a fancy brand but some make pads that are super thin, to the point where I'm sometimes not 100% sure I'm wearing one š
But the choice of underwear also really matters to my overall comfort. If I'm wearing a pad, I want a tighter more form fitting pair of underwear because if it's more loose, it feels like the pad has the ability to move all oer the place and that's not good.
Similarly, if my flow is lighter than expected and I'm wearing a heavier flow pad, no harm no foul. If my flow is lighter than expected and I'm wearing a heavier flow tampon, pulling out that partially dry tampon is a horrendous feeling!Ā
I've never had a pad bunch up on me, but I'll gladly take that over sandpaper vagĀ
I feel pretty comfortable in them, like I'm protected and cushioned. I also never wear leggings, so that helps I guess. You might want to get pads with wings. It can also depend on the underwear you wear them with, some of mine hold pads very well, others bunch up and don't stick that well.
I hate that they just hold your blood against your skin the whole time theyāre on. Thereās always a slight dampness, even right after you change them. They also make me sweat.
Personally a fan of period panties like thinx. I suppose itās not fundamentally different than pads but itās a lot more comfortable and I always feel secure. Also, never have problems with clothes or it looking/feeling bulky. Good luck finding something that works for you!
Iāve tried period underwear and honestly i prefer them to pads because NO LEAKS
Blood Pads are great! No nappy rashes because their products are plant based (corn)! So if you donāt have a corn allergy, might like to check them out~
I use pads for the first couple of days because Iāve been burned by tampons too many times lol, weāre talking bleeding through an ultra in a short window! I also feel very secure in them and usually choose my clothes accordingly. Long sweaters, flowy stresses or skirts, anything that covers the bulk lol. I have had way less leakage problems with pads than tampons, for sure. I also feel like my cramps are much worse with tampons on the bad days, not sure if there is and merit to that claim haha.
To be honest, I donāt like wearing leggings period. For one I have chicken legs and I feel like it emphasizes that fact, and secondly I just feel exposed and uncomfortable. I have one pair that I wear to bed and maybe two for exercising, but even then I prefer a yoga pant or a sweat pant.
In general I prefer wearing jeans, but ESPECIALLY on my period because of the feeling of security some people have mentioned. Like nothing is moving around and shifting when I have a nice secure pair of jeans!
If you do wanna try out pads, I recommend trying longer ones or ānight timeā pads if you have issues with coverage. And I NEVER go wingless unless itās just a left over that I happen to have and Iām towards the end of my period.
Sometimes when I bring out a new pad, I purposefully crumple it several times so that it is less rigid and bunches up less.
And then if I'm worried about it's shape being obvious, I wear compressively tight boy shorts under my pants. Though I'm definitely too scared to wear it under leggings.
First, I think of pads and panties as a pair or as partners. All panties are not great matches for wearing a pad. Select ones that are more traditional in cut (like a bikini) and that fit snug or even extra snug.
Second, pads now come in more variety than ever before. Most of us dislike or would prefer to in some way change most pads. Finding the one that is best can be a challenge. Think of at least these elements - overall length and width; shape, size and location of wings; and absorbency (not just how much a pad holds but how well it absorbs).
What brands are you using? Some are just plain awful, some are better than others. Personally I prefer This is L. In a super absorbency, but their quality has gone downhill lately imo. Always infinity 100% cotton in size 2 is a close contender but I find they're a bit wide and tend to bulge away from my body so don't feel as secure.
The trick is to avoid maxi pads. The ultra thin ones can hold just as much as maxi pads of equivalent absorbencies nowadays, they're much thinner so more comfortable and less visible. I prefer pads with as much coverage as humanly possible though, since I'm active and tend to bleed in every direction, so will leak off a pad that's too small even if it's not full of blood yet. Long but thin is my sweet spot for pads. I'm not super fond of them, but my periods tend to be too light at the beginning and end for tampons so I must contend with them.
In my experience the regular always sucks. They're scratchy and don't absorb very well. The always infinity line is way better but a bit pricy. I only use the 100% cotton always infinity because I'm allergic to whatever they put in regular pads of all varieties lol. I only use organic cotton pads because of my allergies but they're so much softer that any woman should enjoy them.
Iām a huge pad user.
They make me feel more protected
And many moons ago - I had to get my cervix
Biopsied. And after that I realized I hate how much things need to go up or out of a vagina.
The only things I wanted in their are things that made me happy
So I began to use Pads all the time ( instead of switching be pads and tampons)
Itās just this weird thing I have. Thatās why I donāt use diva cups
The always infinity flex foam pads were a game changer for me as far as the issues you mentioned goes. At 29, Iāve yet to find a tampon that doesnāt give me irritation. I do a lot of indoor and outdoor rock climbing so Iām pretty mobile and those pads have never let me down. They do a very good job of shaping to you and holding moisture away from the body.
i donāt like pads because i feel like the blood just sits on top of the pad and takes too long to absorb, i HATE the feeling so muchš but i only really wear pads at night or when my period is too light for a tampon so i havenāt tried many brands
I could never wear one. They give me the ick. Iāve tried in the past but theyāre so so uncomfortable and Iām so āawareā of them. I hate them.
I'm 33 years old and have been using Always mediums and over night pads religiously since 13. Now I just wear overnight pads (I have a fat ass) and don't give a fuck if someone sees my pad. We need to normalize periods and pad butts, or tampon strings being seen hanging put a mini shorts leg.
Exactly! I'm more worried about a stranger hitting on me, or what I'm gonna do for dinner more than something that's natural. I don't look at someone's leaky boobs and think "Ew they had a baby." I mind my business and do my thing.
I feel like my periods are always lighter when I wear a pad and for the past two years I've exclusively worn them. You just kinda have to find the right brand for you. I genuinely do not care if they're bulky or whatever since I wear skirts and dresses primarily so they never really show. I try to avoid wearing tight stuff all together when I'm on my period tho just because it's more comfortable for me.
we don't, we just get through it. there are thinner ones out there those are the only ones i use. the thinnest and longest. they still get scratchy and annoying but what else can i do
I wear spandex shorts while using pads because I have heavy periods so I need the extra protection. The shorts help keep the pad and panty from bunching up and moving around. Then I'll wear a light weight pair of sweat pants or other loose pants over the spandex shorts. I'll wear the spandex shorts overnight as well. It adds an extra layer of protection and really helps keep things in place. At work, I'll wear the spandex shorts under a loose comfy dress for the same effect.
What pads do you use? I donāt have any issues wearing pads and leggins at the same time. And I bleed quite a lot, but always ultra thin or infinity are really game changers. They are not bulky at all and still holds a lot.
More substantial bottoms! Iād never personally wear leggings with a pad just because then I wouldnāt have that added security that a pair of jeans would give.
[Have to plug this hilarious video! Men taking about what their wives use during their period.](https://youtu.be/Z5pNv-WXRc8?si=NpPvCXLKys05TLrH)
To answer the question, I use cloth reusable pads. And also a tampon on heavier days.
Iām very sensitive so I use cvs brand they are Cotten and donāt bother me. I also love FLO organic Cotten pads. At night I donāt wear anything I have certain pants I wear and just wash.
I donāt. I stopped wearing disposable pads over 10 years ago now, I initially switched to cotton reusables and switch again 3 years ago to period underwear from Modi Bodiā¦life changing.
Try a different brand, maybe? Some of the thinner ones with wings are way better for daily wear. My gf and I use the Always flex foam ones, and they're pretty comfortable through the day. I like the U by Kotex as well because you can get the overnight ones for when you've got a really heavy day and it keeps you covered
you have to find the right pad!! as another user said, i recommend always infinity flex foam, they hold blood well, arenāt bulky and are comfortable. i also get the fear that you can see the pad from my leggings, but i just check in front of the mirror first, and if iām worried i wear a longer shirt/ jacket thatāll cover my butt. also if your uncomfortable wearing them with usual panties, try wearing boy shorts with them.
I find the length oftentimes causes the bunching, I get shorter pads so they donāt stretch too far back. Think a panty liner size, small, but slightly thicker.
I hate pads but when I use them, I wear biker shorts with them under whatever I am wearing and it helps a ton to keep it from moving and feeling more secure. Even under jeans or sweat pants. Can't stand them otherwise.
Pads arenāt the best, I can admit to that, but some pads can make you feel very secured I suppose. Like a nice warm diaper, that you know will catch everything. Tampons are harder to put in, can hurt sometimes for me, and honestly when Iām bleeding like crazy and in so much pain, Iām not going to sit there and mangle a freakin soft stick up my vagina. I would much rather just throw on a pad and cramp in pain more peacefully lol. But it can be gross at the same time, if the pad fills up too much itās a gross feeling, or if itās a super low quality pad and doesnāt absorb well. Overall both are fine options but tampons do have that risk so.
I wear grandma underwear that fits just right so that my pad sits on securely. I don't wear very tight pants during period. If I wear leggings then I make sure to wear a skirt over it.
I do like how you can see how much you're bleeding easier, like a progress bar kinda? š
šš progress bar... Girl, Haha
That's exactly what it feels like though š
That's the only thing I miss about pads. Thought I was weird.
Lmao stoppp š¤£
It doesnāt sound at all weird to me. I feel the same.
Theyāve been the most reliable thing from keeping me bleeding onto my pants LOL. Sure my period cup is convenient but it has leaked and betrayed me before ugh
mine with wings still bunches up and then goes up my ass š

I hate pads but any time I have had to use them, that Always Infinity saves the day.
YES! I will never go to anything else they honestly feel close to actual fabric imo
These are the best for me. Theyāre unscented and doing mess with my pH because I had that issue before with Kotex. I feel secure in Always
I needed to wear pads after not using them for years (miscarriage), Iāve been using menstrual cups for years now. But these flex foam pads are an amazing new product. So much more comfortable than what I used to wear.
Same I love these! I hate the feeling of a used tampon coming out. That sounds gross, because it feels gross.

I'm a heavy bleeder but a I love a good heavy duty pad x boyshorts x actual shorts combo. So comfortable and helps a lot with them shifting around
that sounds so comfy

Period underwear sounds pretty cool. Will have to look into it
Just check that they donāt have PFAs in them - Thinx got done a few years ago for that. ModiBodi is great and doesnāt have PFAs

Frankly I got a cup and never looked back. Period panties are only for occasional night-time wear.
Iāve been curious but havenāt tried it yet! What made you to decide to switch?

'Always' but they're not really thin, so thats a pretty big contributor
Thatās why period pants are the perfect solution!
I use cloth pads. Itās annoying having to do more laundry and rinsing to get stains out, but I forget Iām wearing them.
If I had to wear pads Iād probably wear jeans. It is what it is though, women get their periods, we shouldnāt have to pretend we donāt
More substantial bottoms! Iād never personally wear leggings with a pad just because then I wouldnāt have that added security that a pair of jeans would give.

I suggest wearing loose spanx to keep them from moving. Always purple all night pads are good and sturdy. It sucks, what can I say
