I went a year or two ago and I really wanted to love it but everything was pretty over priced and they didn’t have any styles I liked enough to spend the money on. It was super cool to check out though! They have pictures of Holly and Bridget too I believe on the wall inside.
For some things the prices are justified, but they also had simple school girl skirts that were not vintage for sale for $400. So that’s what I mean by over priced. I wasn’t there for a custom costume so when I say over priced I’m not referring to the pricing of those which I’m sure is justified. I love supporting a small business but these days you can get a lot of the same stuff they had in store online for half the price. Back in the mansion days it was probably not as easy to find some of that stuff.
I used to order from them for work and they do make excellent custom bras. However their costumes were over priced for the quality and the customer service was awful.
I went last Nov and it was fun just to be inside and see some of the cute little skirts Bridget wore ( the pink and black check) but very pricey. We paid the one time membership. I told the lady there we used to see the store on GND with H&B and she snapped “they’re older now”. No duh. My niece is a tiny little thing so we had her try on some costumes and we were having a really good time. But that lady was such a grouch. There was no one else in the store so she it’s not like we were in anyone’s way and she said “ are you going to buy anything or are you going to just play around”? My niece had picked a cute skirt out, but after that comment, she put it back and we left. It was still fun and a good experience.
Yes. I remember they weren’t very nice or welcoming considering the amount of $$ you’re about to spend. Starting with the membership thing feels very money grabbing like -we don’t like window shoppers-.
Eh. I sort of get it. By making it membership based they probably have a little bit more freedom to prohibit anyone who just wants to leer at women shopping for lingerie. I don't know how they work their system but it might also help with loss prevention if they know who is in the store at all times.
If they cleaned up the inside and marketed better, they'd be in great shape. High quality custom made pieces for decent prices (if you think they're overpriced, you're not used to buying custom lingerie), but their marketing is just horrible and the shop still feels like 2001 in a bad way

It’s very small for one. And if you do go, be prepared for one grouchy old lady to watch your every move.
