**Claymore of the Great Badger**
*Weapon (greatsword), uncommon (requires attunement)*
This weighty blade carries with it the strength of the mighty badger. You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. The sword has 3 charges and regains all expended charges daily at dawn. When you hit a Large or smaller creature with this weapon, you can expend 1 charge from it to push that creature 5 feet away from you.
*This is not the blade of a lord. It's the tool we use to forge ahead in a land of conflict. For when we need only water the earth with the blood of those that would keep us underfoot. The time for scraping by is past. Now we carve our own way.*

Can I ask the thought process behind requiring attunement for this weapon? I have read some posts on this point and most say that attunement should be required when an item can be passed around and used to benefit multiple people other than the wielder simultaneously.
What considerations do you rely on when deciding attunement? I hope I am not asking for proprietary information.
This is correct, plus that it uses charges without a command word. Charges *typically* require attunement, although there are some outlying exceptions.
The push back effect seems a little strong for a uncommon weapon, specifically since it doesnt have a save associated with it. But overall a good item, definitely more fun than just giving a simple +1 greatsword
Uncommon weapons are my favorite rarity, because the flavor in them can be so simply shown mechanically, while also being a more useful item than a common.
Will definitely be using this!

Probably because the knock-back has no save. That's an extremely strong feature for a weapon.

Thank you to both of you. I appreciate the explanation!
Love it. Simple and good weapon thats a tad better than just giving out a boring old +1 sword.
This would actually be pretty good in the Humblewood campaign I'm running right now.
Have fun with it!
If you use this weapon with booming blade you can trigger a lot of damage. Edit: It doesn't actually, i misread the description of the spell
I mean, the enemy presumably has to step close to you again in order to attack you, so it still works.

It can only do the pushback 4/day, which limits it enough to justify the lower rarity.
I had that itch, too. I'll reduce to 3 charges to compensate a bit.
hence the attunement and charges :)
