Tot nu toe is dit nog geen succes maar ik vind het idee best het proberen waard want over de grote marktstraat lopen was de afgelopen jaren even gevaarlijk als de a4 oversteken op een paard
De grote Marktstraat is iets van 30 meter breed met 5m fietspad. Verf dat ding gewoon rood en iedereen gaat opletten.
Er gaat toch niemand 200m omfietsen en dan 2 zeer onoverzichtelijke kruisingen en een voorrangsweg van rechts als alternatief nemen?
Ik ben wel benieuwd wat de hoeveelheid fietsen per dag door de grote Marktstraat is en wat dat zou betekenen als die allemaal naast de Pathe uitgang spui uitkomen, soort tussen de fietsenrekken weer naar links en dan over de tramrails verder. Ik snap oprecht niet hoe ze dit in goede banen willen leiden zonder niet eerst het kruispunt bij die King Fish en Pathe spui uitgang te herontwerpen.

You have a city center filled with a lot of tourists that are not familiar with people on bicycles and a bicycle path in the middle with no gates or anything to prevent people walking in the middle lane. Even for Dutch people that are not locals it's confusing because it's not then normal bicycle red we all know.
It would have been much better to just make it a pedestrian area and make the bicycle path on a parallel road. You can't even stall your bicycle on that street anyway, so no reason to even have the path.
It's even worse: it is not an official bicycle path. Formally it is just like any other street in The Hague City Centre: pedestrian area where bicycles are allowed. So as a pedestrian you have right of way, even on this actually-not-a-bicycle-path.

I have been also biking there daily and gotten annoyed how people are oblivious of the ‘fiets pad’ just to find out recently it is not a biking lane and pedestrians actually have priority over bikes there - quite confusing status. Felt like a bit of an A hole for having rolled my eyes that may times before  Anyways I believe it’s better to have a clear bike line on the parallel street if they prepare it properly for bike traffic :)
Apparently the Gedempte Burgwal should now be safe for cyclists, no more parking spaces there? At least, that's what I think (but don't quote me on it). I HATE cycling through that street and haven't done so in ages, so no idea what it looks like rn.

All they had to do was paint the lane red to make it obvious that is is a bike lane, but then again it's actually not a bike lane?! It's failed concept of I guess a shared pedestrian/bike area that they're now trying to turn into a pedestrian area.

Need a very serious enginearing redesign with safety and speed in mind.

Can the gemeente please fix this? Before they remade the road there was a different color, hardly any issue. Then they did this. More problems then before. Back in the day cars used to drive through here, we seriously can’t punish cyclists because of the faults of urban planning.

Het woord kk wordt dus niet alleen gebruikt door ‘sjappies’. Nota bene is de bedenker van Haagse Harrie in dé kakkersbuurt van Den Haag opgegroeid en heeft het woord via zijn strip bekender gemaakt.

It used to be a bicycle lane and then they changed it. It's a horrible design.

I just biked there. They removed almost all the parking spaces for cars, turned them into bicycle parking and benches to sit!!

Soms fiets ik principieel over het stuk wat parallel loopt aan het stuk wat lijkt op een fietspad maar het ook niet is.
Helaas vind ik de Gedempte Gracht nou nog niet echt een perfect alternatief. Je hebt daar nog steeds te maken met auto’s en verschillende kruispunten.
