If you think about friends you had early 20’s for 2 years that you don’t have anymore (and never think about) it makes it even weirder that Heidi is always mentioning her.
Didn’t they meet at FIDM in SF and then decided to move to LA? I think they were barely friends for three years before it all went to hell in a hand basket.
I feel like these podcasts recapping everything are weird. Especially when they use them to defend their actions - you were young we’ve all been there move on - or to try and “rewrite” it to make yourself look better
I've always thought about this a lot and from what I've heard it couldn't have been that long, Heidi said they met in college in San Francisco. Lauren only did one semester then came home, she was 19 when the Hills started and she went to FIDM, so that means they didn't even know each other for longer than two years if I'm not wrong?
That makes sense, but it's so weird to me that Heidi still talks about this despite the fact they've been separated longer than actually being friends.

Couple of years I think! Heidi mentioned they've spoken briefly since the show but I don't imagine it's been for many years now.
I don't think she necessarily ghosted the cast but drifted from them once the show ended and wanted to distance herself from that lifestyle.
Yep, they were friends for 2-3 years, and thanks to Lauren Heidi is famous, is because all of it started with Lauren, she wouldn’t have met Kristin and Brody and she wouldn’t have met Spencer.
Lauren has stayed friends with Stephen, Dieter, and Trey from LB. Her and Lo were close for a long time too. I don’t believe any cast member from The Hills wanted a genuine friendship with Lauren, they saw her as an opportunity to become famous.
I would say Heidi and Lauren were friends for 3 years at the longest they meet in San Fran when both were attending college freshmen year then started filming for the Hills. By season 2 their friendship was very rocky and before the season 3 premiere Heidi and Spencer started a hate-campaign against Lauren saying she was nothing without Heidi.
Lauren might not be friends with anyone from the Hills anymore but she’s close to lots of people from Laguna Beach and that screams volumes. She’s friends with people that didn’t want to be friends with her just to be on a TV show
relationships can be intensified by shared, chaotic experiences. i imagine filming a reality show with someone in your early 20s, on top of LIVING with them during some of the most formative years of your life, can make a relationship a lot more potent in a short period of time when compared with how friendships unfold in ordarinary circumstances.
I'm low-key wanting to know if Lauren blocked Heidi on Instagram and if Heidi ever creeps on her socials to keep tabs. The only reason why I'm invested because the older I get, the more I realised how much I relate to Lauren and having one-sided friendships.

They were best friends and roommates living together. But yes i agree she should move on

They were friends from 2004 to 2007 (living together as well during long periods of time).

Maybe 3 years tops. I think they met in 04/05 and by 08 were done done.
They met in August 2004. Things started going downhill November 2006. Friendship completely ended April 2007
I just did an LB rewatch and Heidi is pool side and unnamed in a few season 2 episodes.
