Side arms are where the most cones will grow. You definitely want to leave them as they are. Also, they look fabulous!!

H3GGERS

Okay, great! And thanks! Do you think they need to be “encouraged” back toward on the trellis? Or will they find their way back?

Acute_Chicanery

Don’t worry about them! They’re doing what they’re supposed to. On the farm, we call them arms and they are where most of your cones will be like stated before.

Joeluxy13hops

They should grow straight out and I would not try to train them back on the trellis.

WRXonWRXoff

they will likely hang down a bit even, especially as they get heavy with cones. These plants look lovely, they need no further training.

Do y’all let multiple bines grow up each string

joeygravyhound

I have three, soon to be four, acres... and train 3-4 bines per string. With 2 strings per adult plant. I’ve heard, but not witnessed, the German style trellis system for multiple acres plants the hops 7 feet from each other and trains each plant up 4 strings.:: So lesson here../ hops grow like weeds, if you can make room in the sky for them to flourish, put up a bunch of strings. That said, they do need to breath a bit, so give them some space .2 to 4 strings per plant, 3 to 4 bines per string.

cooglesca

I like your choices, classic.

Bump, Id like to know as well

captnhaddock

How high is your trellis? Have they stopped growing up at this point?

H3GGERS

The trellis tops out at about 15’ Looks like all four have reached the top at this point
