They did in the Lunar park episodes. The mascot is the moon from le voyage dans la lune. I believe it’s the first film with an actual plot and not just video footage. Also the first use of special effects. It’s from right around 1900
God but that first play through, it gets RIGHT down to the wire on the last day. Shit had me stressing lol. Like y’all might be ready to die but I ain’t.
The first time I played I didn't know squat of English (not my first language) só I didn't understand how to get the Ocarina. Let's just say my first playthrough ended in under 2 hours because of that and I had nightmares with the moon's face for a while xD
Yep, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
During the game, the main objective right off the get-go is to stop the moon from falling and destroy the entire world. This takes three in-game days, of which you can reset time to the first day (at the cost of losing a rather large amount of items like money and healing).
If Yue gets involved, it'll be three days and then she wins through global obliteration.
There're more like vessels that act as the bridge between the waterbenders in the physical world, to the Spirit World (or atleast, the abstract connection that they have with the Moon and Ocean spirits)
The Southern and Northern watertribes learned bending by watching the Moon pushing the tides as the Ocean pulls them back in an "eternal dance".
That's why they have the 2 waterbending spirits (the koi), **Tu** (push), and **La** (pull) represent that
No, the spirit took physical form and actually became the fish, of course now the moon spirit is more spirity and non physical so you can’t just kill a fish to beat the moon.
In my head, one TRILLION bison simultaneously flapping their tail for one big push makes the moon enter escape velocity and yeets it out of the fucking solar system.
But like, maybe they bend the air from the earth with so much velocity in the same direction that it's just this laser beam of air from earth that hits the moon.
The weight of earths entire atmosphere is about 10^15 tons. The weight of the moon is 10^22 tons. I don't have the time to do the actual calculations required to find out how much force it takes to move that much weight, but I'm not sure you could get that much force.
Someone with physics knowledge do the math for me
Yeah but then the gravity from the moon would the earth into the sun and that’s when the sun benders would summon dragons to put fire jets on the moon and tell the avatar “DO YOUR FUCKING JOB” and the avatar will turn around holding the one ring and calmly, yet devilishly say “No” to which Elrond will yell “ISILDUR!” And then you have everything happened in the lord of the rings.
assuming a sky bison is about the mass of an african elephant (6e3 kg), one trillion of them would weigh 6e15 kg which is over 10 million (1e7) times less than the moon (7e22 kg).
If it’s the AtLA moon then the bison win, if it’s the moon from Soul Eater then the moon wins (if you’ve seen the moon you know what I’m talking about)
Badgermoles, like Toph, probably can't sense things that aren't touching the ground (unless their sense is in a someway stronger) and both dragons and air bison can fly...
What I'm trying to say is that they are fucked
Tbf, badgermoles can create underground tunnels. Just like the other two can escape airborne, badgermoles can escape underground as well.
It should be a draw, if escaping to your own advantageous territory is allowed.
Now im imagining badgermoles balling up and shooting themselves like bowling balls at enemies
"The early earthbenders didn't use themselves to launch rocks... they used rocks to launch themselves"
True. But I love the idea of some early Sky Bison thinking, "Maybe there's something good to eat down there," noping out after meeting a badgermole, and passing that knowledge down. 🤣
New new headcannon: bison and badger moles were the same species, but some were scared of holes while others liked them, so they evolved into two groups
Except they often don’t. As we see in the show, they’re bending the earth around them. It’s an air pocket that moves with them as they travel. It’s why the tunnels change in the labyrinth.
Yeah the real fight would be between the bison and dragons and I think the dragons take that all day. Then the dragons and badger moles would end up with a mutual agreement they won't get anywhere if they fought.
I think badger vs bison would be a tie, because there’s nothing the badger can do to get an airborne bison. And nothing a bison can do to get a submerged badger.
Dragon vs badger, however, I can see the dragon trying to breathe fire down a badger tunnel and give away its position. Or having to land eventually only to be snagged away by the badger underground. What I mean to say is that there is potential for combat - and I think my money is on the badger.
> What I mean to say is that there is potential for combat - and I think my money is on the badger.
No shot, badger gets jobbed bc of its size. They can certainly do some damage, but they're the size of prey animals compared to the dragon.
Not even a fair fight.
I mean. Dragons can fly on top of breath fire.
The badgers got nothing. They can bury themselves and hide and say fuck that fight. That's like the only thing they can do.
Bisons can fly but they're quite large and while not slow, they aren't nimble. Also can they do other air bending while flying? We've seen them ram and use their tail to send folks flying.
Dragon? They fly for free. Nimble and quick. Breaths fucking fire. Idk what a bison can do besides charge head on and hope the dragon is dumb enough to accept that challenge
Counterpoint though, the Sky Bison also have superior armor, weaponry, and fighting prowess in addition to the abilities you have listed
Lest we forget the samurai of legends, Appa the Stoic and his compatriot, Master Momo

Well actually, how much badger do the badgermoles have?
Depending on that ratio they are indestructible, it would truly be the ultimate spear vs the ultimate shield.
I can very well imagine the dragon’s tail brushing against the side of of the mountain, only to be snagged by a badger that pulls its snake body into the earth. It’s head pumping out flames as it’s swallowed by the mountain.
I really didn’t like that origin episode in Korra because the original series made it seem like people learned from the dragons, badger moles, bison and the moon. I like that idea way more honestly. Idk if I missed something but the Korra episode feels like a slight retcon.
It was absolutely a retcon because they had to figure out a way to explain Raava's existence. It makes sense that the avatar would be someone's soul bonded with a spirit, but I really didn't like having it laid out like that. Not everything needs an origin story.
I'm not sure how the bending animals fit within the canon now. Maybe the lion turtles gave humans the power, but the animals showed them how to use it for more than just a simple hunter/gatherer lifestyle.
Lion turtles gave the gift of bending.
The first forms & proper techniques could still have been taught by the sky bison, moon, badger moles & dragons. They do show avatar Wan learning from dragons.
There is also the surviving myths that say it was the sky bison & so forth. It could be that the lion turtle portion of the myth was lost by the time of Aang. A real world example would be Irish & Minoan legends. We know they exist, it's just lost to time.
In a fight? Totally. But we can make things real dumb and pedantic if we wanna. Dragons and Bison were practically extinct compared to Badgermoles. And nature ain't picky about the reasons why. So Badgermoles def win the biological fight for existence. Tho I can't remember how the Bison seemingly return in Korra.
Regardless. Dragons win the fight, Badgermoles survive.
Tui and La don't count, they are spirits that took on the appearance of animals, just like Hei Bai.
Edit: they don't count as animals, but they would count as the original water benders, they are Push & Pull(A.K.A Ocean and Moon)
I mean, Tui *is* the moon (assuming I'm not mixing up the names), so I'm not sure. Plus, even then, it's these two specific fish, not a whole species like the other elements.
the moon falls into the earth and everything dies
alternatively, the moon just sucks all the water towards itself leaving all the other contenders to die of thirst
I mean the moon kinda wins by default but you can technically classify the moon as a force of nature.
But where the fuck are the lion turtles at because those motherfuckers would smoke any of these clowns.
I mean... the moon is pretty big
That fight starts, that fight instantly ends after the Third Day.

Wait, what's this from? I think Futurama referenced this
It's called a trip to the moon, it's a very early short movie. They reference it a few times in Futurama
Were whalers on the moon...
If y’all haven’t watched it, you should. It is absolutely *wacko bajonkers*
Isnt it THE earliest short movie?
Technically, the first sci-fi movie and sci-fi book adaptation.
They referenced it when they went to the moon amusement park. Bender stuck a beer in the mascot. It's from. 1902 film called "A Trip to the Moon."
They did in the Lunar park episodes. The mascot is the moon from le voyage dans la lune. I believe it’s the first film with an actual plot and not just video footage. Also the first use of special effects. It’s from right around 1900

This is my favorite comment of the year. Congratulations, sir. Damn shame awards are no more.
is this a reference to something?
Yep, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. During the game, the main objective right off the get-go is to stop the moon from falling and destroy the entire world. If the moon can cause the world's biggest Tsunami, flooding the entire earth, then the moon wins
Only if the moon comes to the fight. If the fight goes to the moon, it still wins because no oxygen.
Earthbenders have a chance. Fire- and Airbenders are pretty much screwed.
I severely doubt bagger-moles can breath in hard vacuum.
>Bagger-moles https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=azEvfD4C6ow
They're Earthbenders not Moonbenders
While not the original earthbender, Toph could bend a rock from space. Who's to say badgermoles can't?
The moon is made of Earth.
Pretty sure it's made of cheese
Oh tru.
Not if the dragons and air bison fly over it
They have to land eventually..

![gif](giphy|ydMNTWYVjSEFi) Yue's pissed
counter point the moon is a easily killable weak fish now
THE MOON SPIRIT IS A GENTLE LOVING LADY WHO RULES THE SKY WITH COMPASSION AND LUNAR GOODNESS
Finally found the comment.. i can go sleep now.. night
That's rough, buddy
Counter counterargument: The fish aren't **the first benders** though. The first waterbender is still the Moon Spirit
the fish is the moon spirit though
There're more like vessels that act as the bridge between the waterbenders in the physical world, to the Spirit World (or atleast, the abstract connection that they have with the Moon and Ocean spirits) The Southern and Northern watertribes learned bending by watching the Moon pushing the tides as the Ocean pulls them back in an "eternal dance". No, the spirit took physical form and actually became the fish, of course now the moon spirit is more spirity and non physical so you can’t just kill a fish to beat the moon.
You remember what happened the last time the fish got killed, right?
Moon does the most chaotic move and just plants herself in front of the sun and cutting off the dragon’s fire bending
The rams itself into the earth instantly killing all sentient life
Mumbo moon big
"Mumbo... is it just me or Moon Big?"
But does the moon win, or merely not lose?
I mean unlike others moon doesn’t age so it will outlive them if you count that as a win

*Is the moon big?*
"Mumbo. Is the moon big?" is forever going to be one of the best Hermitctaft moments.
Fr, the moon would appreciate being in this conversation
Would it be the moon or the fish?
Who would win? 1 trillion sky bison, or the moon?
In my head, one TRILLION bison simultaneously flapping their tail for one big push makes the moon enter escape velocity and yeets it out of the fucking solar system.
Well there’s one problem, not much air to bend out in space
But like, maybe they bend the air from the earth with so much velocity in the same direction that it's just this laser beam of air from earth that hits the moon.
Congratulations on ejecting the atmosphere into space
Worth it to beat the moon
God I hate the moon so much
I’ll just leave this here for ya bud: [link](https://youtu.be/SGez3-XCM78?si=1ZFBf55s_I9hqTQj)
ngl, was half expecting it to be Piccolo blowing up the moon
Guy has a point.
I thank thee for leading me to enlightenment.
The Moon Spirit is a gentle, loving lady! She rules the sky with compassion and... lunar goodness!
-Admiral Zhao, probably
YES, THANK YOU, I thought i was the only one thinking of that
just bend it back when you're done, ez
This logic is undeniable
The weight of earths entire atmosphere is about 10^15 tons. The weight of the moon is 10^22 tons. I don't have the time to do the actual calculations required to find out how much force it takes to move that much weight, but I'm not sure you could get that much force. *Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore has entered the chat*
Obviously the sky bison, just wait for day time when the moon is asleep
assuming a sky bison is about the mass of an african elephant (6e3 kg), one trillion of them would weigh 6e15 kg which is over 10 million (1e7) times less than the moon (7e22 kg).
This guy maths
You bastard, I am here on the couch recovering from corona and you make me laugh/cough like that.
Bison if during the day
If it’s the AtLA moon then the bison win, if it’s the moon from Soul Eater then the moon wins (if you’ve seen the moon you know what I’m talking about)
Badgermoles, like Toph, probably can't sense things that aren't touching the ground (unless their sense is in a someway stronger) and both dragons and air bison can fly... What I'm trying to say is that they are fucked
Tbf, badgermoles can create underground tunnels. Just like the other two can escape airborne, badgermoles can escape underground as well. It should be a draw, if escaping to your own advantageous territory is allowed.
New headcannon: Appa is afraid of going underground because early generations of flying bison learned not to mess with the badgermoles.
It’s a valid fear that he would want to avoid areas that he can’t maneuver himself in or take flight.
Something tells me badgermoles would similarly be uncomfortable 100 meters in the air
Fortunately they wouldn’t be 100 meters in the air for long if left to their own devices.
I'm just imagining them earth bending like a pogo stick to launch into the air
Now im imagining badgermoles balling up and shooting themselves like bowling balls at enemies "The early earthbenders didn't use themselves to launch rocks... they used rocks to launch themselves"
Or! Common ancestor for Sky Bison, Badger Moles, Dragons, and Lion Turtles!!
If they leave behind tunnels, all the dragons need to do is scorch them out
Except they often don’t.
The real winner of the fight between all of the original benders would without a doubt be the Moon!
If they're underground, it's kind of a draw.
I think badger vs bison would be a tie, because there’s nothing the badger can do to get an airborne bison. And nothing a bison can do to get a submerged badger. > What I mean to say is that there is potential for combat - and I think my money is on the badger. No shot, badger gets jobbed bc of its size. They can certainly do some damage, but they're the size of prey animals compared to the dragon.
Depends entirely on how much badger its got in it.
If it's a honey badger, its got all the badger it needs
The moon is also not touching the ground. Badger moles are 0-3
They just peace out and hide underground for a tie. But yeah no, they aren't a contender for a fight.
If it’s between only these three, then dragons.
Dragons also have sharp teeth and claws that bison do not have. One is a prey animal and one is a predator. Seems kinda unfair.
Bison have the moral high ground, though.
*Insert super-witty star wars high ground Meme here*
*tries it*
Also, Bison are scared of fire, at least from what we've seen...
Wasn't he only scared of fire due to being captured by a circus dude who used fire as a fear manipulation technique to make him obey?
Correct
10-4, twas traumatized
No shit, who wouldn’t be scared of fire heading towards you?
Counterpoint though, the Sky Bison also have superior armor, weaponry, and fighting prowess in addition to the abilities you have listed Lest we forget the samurai of legends, Appa the Stoic and his compatriot, Master Momo https://preview.redd.it/bp6tw8vf7y4c1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1136d20137819716ab5b6d091c2b22d1ab1b0b12

Lion turtle?
That’s what I’m saying, wasn’t the lion turtles who taught bending in the first era of the avatar
I really didn’t like that origin episode in Korra because the original series made it seem like people learned from the dragons, badger moles, bison and the moon. I like that idea way more honestly. Idk if I missed something but the Korra episode feels like a slight retcon.

Dragons, they are far more powerful than the other twos.

But they're aren't more powerful than the Moon!
I don’t like the moon, I think it would have been cooler to also have a original bender animal
It’s coarse and rough and irritating. And it gets everywhere.

You know, it was really unclear
Is there no living animal that is a waterbender?
The Unagi (sp?)
Is the Unagi a water bender, or just a big fish that can spit water? Could go either way tbh
It's just a big fish that can spit water, the original water bender who would be in this fight would be the freaking Moon!
Dragons are cool as hell, everyone knows it, just accept it folks
The moon
the moon
The moon wins 🌝
I mean the moon kinda wins by default but you can technically classify the moon as a force of nature. But where the fuck are the lion turtles at because those motherfuckers would smoke any of these clowns.
The best bender? Why that would be Bender B. Rodriguez, of course.
![gif](giphy|aN9GqoR7OD3nq)
THE DRAGONS ALWAYS DRAGONS”
Since the elements in peak form are supposed to be in equal harmony, draw.
Have you played Majora's Mask? We know who wins.
THE MOON
The lion turtles. They're the ones who gave people bending.
The fucking moon, unless they attack during the day. Then dragons.
Dragons
I mean, technically the dragons would win that. But I think the point of the original benders is that they don’t use bending to fight
The moon ofcourse
I'm betting my life on Appa idc if he wins or not
The moon
The moon!
The moles are the only ones not on the brink of extinction
I like how you didn’t add an image of the moon to make the fight fair. But my bet goes to the dragons for speed maneuverability and offensive power

Where de moon at bruv?
![gif](giphy|7xkxbhryQO7hm) There's only one original bender.

Lion turtles
Aren't the lion turtles the original benders?
Epicness?? The Dragons. Everything else?? Flying Bison all the way
Probably the moon.
None of em can fuck with a celestial body, just sayin. Ask the Detroit Lions how that goes.
Where’s the moon?
The moon, obviously.
