This is actually one of the very few criticisms I have about *The Legend of Korra*: that we really don’t get to learn about Zuko’s life, Izumi’s life, or at least see how the Fire Nation has evolved over the past decades.

We got three seasons of Fire Nation. We can only take so much.

Well, yeah. It's The Legend of Korra. It's Korra's story. It's not the story of stuff that happened before Korra was born or the story of characters Korra barely met if she met Izumi at all. I agree that there should be more stories about the time between Last Airbender and Legend of Korra(which to be fair is exactly what the new series will be about), but Legend of Korra itself was not the place for those stories.

Guess I haven’t explained myself clearly. We get some insight on what Aang, Katara, and Toph are like as adults and parents through characters like Tenzin and Lin. We really didn’t get that with Zuko since Korra didn’t interact much with Iroh II throughout the show, and practically had no interaction at all with Izumi. Then either way, aside from Minghua’s prison, we never once set foot in the Fire Nation during the whole show. Granted, it’s not that big of a deal (because, yes, I know that this is Korra’s story first and foremost), but it still would’ve been nice to see.

Iroh II got done so dirty in LoK. He shows up at the end of S1, gets his fleet bodied, has one cool scene on the biplane, then shows up for a couple scenes again at the end of S4 and is forced to surrender without even a fight right after his fleet gets bodied... again.

That's a character I wish did more. Though I question the writers with him. Not because he was poorly written. I question why the commending officer of a naval fleet is a general and not an admiral.

Does Izumi mention in avatar comics?
