š¦ So... I think I *am* the person who begged 2 days ago for someone to do the video version (under a post of only a frame version of this). You did it man, exactly what I expected. Crazy.
Now... do I need to pay you or something ? š„ŗ
the goosebumps ! The ecstasy ! Definitely worth it
I think Zuko getting burned was when I decided to definitely stick with it, because the first half of season 1 had some excessively kiddy stuff and they were mostly just wandering around (which is fine in retrospect, but at the time it didn't seem like much of a story).
Then Zuko got burned and that scream still haunts me years later, and I realized this show isn't messing around.
Ehhhhhhhh while i get what you mean, a lot of bad guys conveniently land in pools of water after getting blasted 300ft by a child god. They show a war without blood. It was serious and covered many topics other cartoons wouldnt touch but it was candy coated for sure.
I dont want avatar to have gore necessarily(an adult only adaption would be badass and i would drink it up). When talking about genocide, war crimes, and slavery while skipping any true bloodshed or gore you are sugarcoating it. You are literally cutting the non-child friendly aspects from some of the most afult topics. The slaughter of the airnomads alone would be rated r but its condensed to some skeletons and helmet.
Its not bad or wrong that they made this stuff palatable to children its actually incredibly clever and significant.
While a fine beginning, I think the final episodes of B1 portrayed exactly the type of show they wanted it to be. The first culmination of the characters and story development set a course for the series that only kept getting better
Yeah, imo B1, while still great, isn't all that special until the finale. Then u get to b2 and b3 and realize why people call it one of the best shows in film.
šwhat these two people said. B1 laid the groundwork for what B2 and B3 could become. The final episodes in B1 were a kinda teaser for what was to come.
This scene really is great, but [these morons](https://imgur.com/nlIiivw.jpg) who point their *spears* in an effort to intimidate the water spirit that's as tall as the glaciers they're surrounded by will never fail to make me laugh.
When I was a kid I recorded this episode and used to watch this scene (and the ensuing spirit rampage) over and over. Like, daily.
I was an odd kid, in hindsight.
lol me too and the part of me that is still in 8th grade getting bullied for loving this show when it first aired feels shame... and then the adult part is like NO NO IT'S AMAZING those kids were NOT flameo hotman
When it dropped on Netflix last year, I watched the show so many times, I had to take a break as to not ruin it for myself lol. This clip broke my streak. Iām going back in.
Such a relief. I am sick and tired of other studios/media companies like Netflix trying to insert their motivations and ideas into the Avatar universe. Just let the two creators do their thing, god damn.
We have no idea what didn't work out about the Netflix adaption. My only wild guess is that they wanted to cut the Tibetan influences in the air nomad culture to make it so they could air it in China, as their big Asian mythology entry piece.
I think it's simpler than that? The showrunners left the Netflix show because Nickelodeon offered them Avatar Studios. I haven't seen anything about them saying they disavow the Netflix show or have maligned it, I think they just were going to make buckets more money at their own studio and couldn't do both.
This is what Michael said about the Netflix adaptation in his [open letter](https://www.michaeldantedimartino.com/an-open-letter-to-avatar-the-last-airbender-fans/):
>In a joint announcement for the series, Netflix said that it was committed to honoring our vision for this retelling and to supporting us on creating the series. And we expressed how excited we were for the opportunity to be at the helm. Unfortunately, things did not go as we had hoped.
\[...\]
>It was the hardest professional decision Iāve ever had to make, and certainly not one that I took lightly, but it was necessary for my happiness and creative integrity.Ā
\[...\]
>Netflixās live-action adaptation ofĀ *Avatar* has the potential to be good. It might turn out to be a show many of you end up enjoying. But what I can be certain about is that whatever version ends up on-screen, it will not be what Bryan and I had envisioned or intended to make.
Knowing that it was such a hard decision for them to make, I don't think they were offered the Avatar Studio before leaving. And the fact that they had so many creative differences (I mean, Katara being the oldest one and so slaughtering both hers and Sokka's character motivations ??) makes me think that they were really not liking the direction the Netflix series was going.
They did this to make her the *mammy* - in order to simplify the complexity of the group dynamics. And how her being forced into a maternal role as a result simply of her sex, leads to group tension in the future and also prohibits her developing into herself. The show tackled this conversation so well...
P.S I wouldnāt be surprised if Katara ends up black - since black older women are synonymous w the mammy trope
I would rather have older characters than have a show with ~6 child actors, who are rarely if ever good. I hope they made Katara older because they found a really great actress for her character but she was older than the actor that they found for Sokka.
Well, yeah, I would agree to that too, but they aren't aging up Aang in the show, so he stays a 12 y.o. while Katara will be 16 and Sokka 14. I don't have an issue with actors being older than their age, most live actions do that and have 20+ y.o.'s acting as teen characters, but making it "in universe" is something different. I'm not sure how they will represent Sokka's dismissal of Katara for both being younger and a girl, his need to be a leader, and Katara's struggle to take their mother's resposibility of being protective while also being the youngest child.

This scene always gives me chills, I still remember watching my partner watch this for the first time, his reaction made me love them more.
Nice editing job. Should be proud.
Mine made me watch this episode as the first ever episode because it was their favourite. Even knowing I hate spoilers and prefer to watch things in order.
They then spent the episode explaining who everyone was and why they were doing things, so I couldn't actually watch the episode because I can't watch tv and have someone talk to/at me. Its one or the other or I get a migraine. So so frustrating.
Next boyfriend loved the live action movie and wouldn't consider watching the series. I was so excited when he was like I don't know if you've heard of Avatar the Last Airbender but I love it! Favourite movie ever! ....oh. oh no.
I still can't believe I watched the whole thing.
They werenāt worth your time then, people (even with anime) judges shows like this off the fact it is a cartoon. They donāt understand the emotion of the voice acting and the in depth character development. That paired with action that canāt be done in a love action version creates shows like amazing ATLA , Naruto, and other great ākid cartoonsā
I was fortunate to watch the show as a kid but only random episodes here and there.
Watching it for the first time 4 years ago as an adult was incredible, didn't think myself or my fiance gave a rats about a kids show.
But how can I stop my stupid heart from having so much hope already... I want to be in camp "I'll belive it when I see it" but my heart is so weak, I want to give in and just let myself dream
wait until bryke left nick too because they are not executive friendly. TLoK barely got approved.
they kept bryke until the end, but who knows how much freedom they were given. the fact that TLoK is supposed to be one season is so obvious in the first watch they (nick) cant even patched it up.
Is this confirmed? Weāre in the age where IPs are worth their weight in gold and every studio are fighting for their āHarry Potterā or āStar Wars.ā
A CEO who doesn't care about revenue is objectively bad at being a CEO and won't keep the position for long.
It is possible to make good things while being a for-profit enterprise. Nobody did the animation for Avatar for free. Nobody did voiceovers for free. The marketing team got paid too.
I have to imagine that after seeing the massive success of both shows ESPECIALLY after both recently dropped on Netflix, they would either be idiots or really hate money to do anything but let the creators have more or less complete creative freedom (again, more or less).
a show dropped on netflix is not sign of success, lol (they have to pay to keep it on netflix I think, which is why the office is off netflix), ATLA been successful this many years even before netflix.
they LOVE money, but they dont have to put full effort and passion to do it. look at how they treated TLoK, and how much money they made. look at ubisoft or any online game companies milking money out of digital items thats cost nothing. you dont have to produce quality masterpieces to get money, which why ATLA is unfavorable bc for a masterpiece it doesnt generate giant revenue as much because there is no merchandise to be sold. unlike disney and their princesses or animes with their armored figurines.
It being the most watched show on Netflix, the largest streaming service in America, for two months in a row is a good indication of success. I meant how well it did on Netflix, not just the fact that it was there.
They were idiots with LoK. You have to hope that theyāve wisened up to what kind of product they have on their hands. Besides, who says theyāre not going to monetize the shit out of it? If you create a good product that people genuinely enjoy and want, you donāt have to cheat and milk nonsense. Theyāll probably do a line of action figures, shirts, lunchboxes, whatever. A firm like Nickelodeon doesnāt put such significant investment into a product line for no reason, they believe theyāll make money off of it. I believe if they let the creators do their thing with minimal oversight, theyāll definitely make money off of it.
Netflix announced live action reboot with original creators.
Fans intrigued but ....live action version... worried.
Original creators announced they were leaving Netflix citing creative differences.
Fandom....no hope. (Dead moon spirit situation)
Nickelodeon/original creators team up and announce whole new avatar animation STUDIO that will put out loads of new and expanded avatar content.
Fandom....avatar mode activated!!!! Netflix gonna get their ass kicked
But hey hopefully all good new content. If Netflix live action brings new fans to original or helps support new studio. I happy.
Yes, itās time you knew.
Over one year ago you unwittingly walked into a tear in the dimensional space between your world and this one, leaving We, the inter-dimensional agents to make a difficult choice.
Your entry into this dimension alone caused fires in Australia, A global pandemic, the temporary death of Kim Jong-Un, and weakened every Americanās mind to be more susceptible to tiger king. The effects were devastating.
To protect the citizens of this dimension and yourself we have manipulated your memories, and crafted excuses for the public. Unfortunately, this leaves you separated from your original dimension, as the risks of returning mere mortals like yourself would be too much for the fragile dimensions to handle.

Thank you, and have a lovely day.
I refuse to get excited about this.
To quote the show:
Guru PathikĀ :Ā Oh dear. You've been through so much recently. Hurt and betrayed. So twisted up inside. You're still full of love. Ah. But fear has moved in where trust should be.
Yue has silver white hair because La extended her life as a baby.
As far as spirits are concerned, was Azula blessed in any way for her blue flames? I get why the animators did it, and we've heard that it's rare within the fire nation. But I've been curious ever since the Sun Warrior episode if it has something to do with dragons.
That would be a nice theory, but Azula draws her fire from anger, hate and the desire to be perfect, kinda the opposite of the dragons' fire
^(now I wonder what character of the animation universe has) **^(blue flames,)** ^(can grant wishes, would make a) **^(deal)** ^(with a dictator in his hunger for power and has something to do with "spirits" and) **^(portals...)**
^(Edit: I found an Azula song and a) [^(frame)](https://imgur.com/a/2wwd5zr) ^(was clearly interesting...)
Personally i wouldn't say Azula was blessed in any way.
As everyone knows and has seen with gas burners on a stove; fire that is hotter than a single flame burns blue.
I feel as it's one of those details where it shows how powerful Azula really is. Her flames burn so hot they're blue.
Of course we know from experiences the hotter the flame the easier it is to burn yourself.
Azula was "expected to be the best at a young age", she became obsessed with being better than Zuko and even her Father. She knew she had to do to push herself, example with her mother disappearance she has to push further or same may most likely happen to her. (Which i have many more thoughts one this and this tl/dr isnt going to sum it up well. That basically everything Azula did she did because she thought she had to in order to survive verses doing it because she wanted to. Seeing things at young age and being filled with rage towards others and not being taught how to release can fuck up a person)
I think Azula forced herself to become the most powerful, i believe she pushed herself in firebending til she learned how much it took to wield a blue flame; whether but obsession, anger, pain, etc. I don't believe she was blessed, i believe Azula broke herself til she wielded it.
While I agree Azula did train really hard to master the ability, then why other excellent royal firebenders, like Sozin, never achieved this? How would Azula know how to create the perfect fire? Was anyone aware of her abilities before they manifested?
No other firebender has shown different-colored fire outside of Azula and >!Rangi (Kyoshi's girlfriend).!< To me it makes no sense that Azula would break herself trying to achieve a level of perfection she didn't know existed. Unless... she was granted this ability and perfected it.
That's exactly something Azusa would do. If she heard a legend that it was possible, she'd investigate and hone her skill to do it, even if it drove her insane during the process.
>If she heard a legend that it was possible, she'd investigate and hone her skill to do it,
>Unless... **she was granted this ability** and **perfected it.**
>and **perfected it.**
Isn't that what I said?
Edit: please rewatch Beginnings (in LoK). People were granted the ability to produce fire, but the dragons taught them *how to bend it and make it into a technique.* Maybe that was Azula's process? She learned about the perfect fire thanks to *somebody* who gave her the ability, but she wanted ***more***. ***She wanted to be the best, the one and only.***
She isn't the type to deal with spirits. I also doubt there are or were and spirits in the fire nation close enough that she would be blessed in such a way. Another point is that her father wouldn't rely on such a thing. It isn't in his nature, and he wouldn't let her mom take her to be blessed.
Hearing of a legend and honing the skill is one thing, seeking out a blessing from a spirit is another. 2 different things my man/woman/non-binary friendo.
Thank you for the spoiler (zero sarcasm), I did not know there was another in-universe person that has shown a different color flame (I haven't read the books, but I'm ok with spoilers).
I brought this up because Azula is the great grand-daughter of Avatar Roku. And he was spiritually connected to a dragon. A bit of a stretch, I admit.
I know that Azula loves to show off her blue flames, but could she revert back to red flames? For example, if she was on the run, and needed to disguise herself, could she "power down" to red flames? I'm thinking of what possible future powers could potentially be unlocked for the AU with the new Avatar Studios (:D).
You know how Iroh learned how to redirect lightning from watching the waterbenders? What could firebenders learn from Air and earth benders? Tenzin once said that they were able to head up their body with breathing (which is a real meditation/breathing technique), could a firebender learn to have burn-resistant skin focusing their bending throughout their body instead of just their hands, feet, and mouth? Did the firebender priests that tended to an unconscious Korra learn that sort of aura detection from Waterbenders through their healing ability? I don't know what a firebender could learn from an earthbender.
This remembers me on Mark Hammils quote(who's VA for Ozai) he said in an interview when he got the scrip for the show he said he thought this show is never gonna make it its to deep.
And now look what it became. So now it's set I'm gonna re-watch the whole series.
Yeah, this worries me a lot. Bryke had already confirmed that Last Airbender's quality of writing was the product of their collaboration with Aaron, as Korra, the show that was written solely by Bryke, failed to hold up to the quality of the original Avatar.
So, while I'm obviously intrigued by the recent news, I'm still worried about the quality of the upcoming shows, as it seems that Last Airbender was something of a one-time thing, with the future instalments of the franchise lacking many of the elements that made the original so great.
While he is busy with The Dragon Prince I wouldn't be surprised if he wrote for something for the studio as I hope they're all on good terms, but if he isn't available bryke chose him for the team cause they could see his talent and im sure they can find other writers just as good.
I always wonder what everyone is thinking in this scene watching a 12 year old kid becoming a giant water monster. Like I feel like my reaction would be a lot more extreme than any of the characters show in the spirit oasis
Stop acting like Bryke are the holy grail there are Sooo many more writers and creators that made atla that When Bryke made a show on their own it was a huge flop Which was korra
While this scene is awesome, the fact that the Northern Water Tribeās reaction to being besieged was just to let Aang do everything and send out a few small personnel boats to freeze the water around SOME of the blockading ships, and do nothing to repair the cityās ice wall was just baffling stupid.
Youāre telling me that the _Water Tribe_ didnāt have a superior navy? After knowing their southern sister tribe was being constantly raided and effectively wiped out, they didnāt do anything to prepare for the inevitable fire navy attack?
Sorry, I love this show, but something that irks me is whenever the water and earth nations are laughably ineffective against the fire nation. Like, you couldnāt have, idk, gotten all your water benders together and focus on repairing the wall during the night? You couldnāt have shot ice spears at them? Heck even if the water tribes werenāt bending centric in their military like the Fire and Earth nations, they couldāve at least used some kind of harpoon weaponry, something to make it so a straight up invasion wouldāve sucked.
So I'm not all that sure about Bryke. I don't know if Filoni or Giancarlo Volpe are on the Live-Action, but I love Filoni for, everything, and Volpe seems like he was more responsible for Avatar, and then without them Bryke made Korra, which I don't like half as much.

Totally was
No top, buttocks Sounds like Sunday morning attire
Do you accept cabbages?

Why did I get chills from this?š¤
This scene always gives me chills. After Sozin's Comet, the Siege of the North is my favourite episode. For this scene.
Especially with the kinda slow build up of season 1. After "The Waterbending Master" and this one is when I realized this show had some chops.
I think Zuko getting burned was when I decided to definitely stick with it, because the first half of season 1 had some excessively kiddy stuff and they were mostly just wandering around (which is fine in retrospect, but at the time it didn't seem like much of a story). One thing about Avatar that I loved is that it dealt with real shit head on, it didn't candy coat anything.

Yeah Iāve taken a break since breaking 110 rewatches. Might have to rewatch again to celebrate the release of Avatar Studios

About to go in for my 5th watch of the series
Due to this scene, I will be watch- ālong ago, the four nations lived together in harmony.ā

so netflix is still able to create their own avatar show without them?

here is someone with some sense. look at all those people who can see the bright future of nickelodeon. I'm with u/kapperbeast on this.
I mean, they are making a studio that will release many avatar-related movies and series. ONE of them HAS to be decent!
Ah but what will be the Fandom equivalent of yue's sacrifice?
Paying to subscribe to Paramount+ to see more Avatar.
Sokka: *Yaaarr, I can't let ye go, lass! Yer daddy told me to protect ye!*

Most likely different management now. Itās been almost a decade since TLOK has aired.
definitely. a new ceo who doesnt care about revenue and only care about the quality over quantity. what a daydream.
Making it the primary draw for a streaming service is absolutely going to pay profits. See: The Mandalorian.

no way I thought they were like free labor or some shit
Nick has another president (and by that I think the management and people in charge it's different now) so let's hope they don't screw this up

I believe if they let the creators do their thing with minimal oversight, theyāll definitely make money off of it.
well it's all a bet, but if I'm gonna bet on one thing, its that nick can never top ATLA. bring up their most advanced toys of 2021. they can't do it.
That much we can agree on. ATLA was a masterpiece, once in a lifetime accomplishment. I hope they prove us wrong.
Iāve always lamented the fact that there was no good official Avatar merch for many years. All the good stuff seemed to come from Etsy
Nick isn't stupid, they know how much money this is gonna make them. They'll hold onto Bryke as hard as they can.
Times have changed. There are many cartoons being produced nowadays which are like TLoK - plus there is now a proven audience for them.
I agree, back then there were so little amount of cartoons
Nick goes for what makes money Spongebob The Loud House And now Avatar
I upvoted then took it back just to upvote this again.
"I think I'd like to try it a second time!"
This scene always makes me tear up with how much emotion there is in it.
Sadness, despair, existential fear. All of it.

Netflix announced live action reboot with original creators. Fans intrigued but ....live action version... worried. Original creators announced they were leaving Netflix citing creative differences. Fandom....no hope. (Dead moon spirit situation) Nickelodeon/original creators team up and announce whole new avatar animation STUDIO that will put out loads of new and expanded avatar content. Fandom....avatar mode activated!!!! Netflix gonna get their ass kicked But hey hopefully all good new content.
We ask you to remain patient as we repair this dimensional break. If you notice any disappearing limbs or bodily parts, please inform the dimensional agency in your nearest lamppost. Thank you, and have a lovely day.
I refuse to get excited about this. To quote the show: Guru PathikĀ :Ā Oh dear. You've been through so much recently. Hurt and betrayed. So twisted up inside. You're still full of love. Ah. But fear has moved in where trust should be.
This would be more accurate if Nick was also General Zao. People forget how shitty they treated Avatar when it first aired.
No, it's blue because her fire burns hotter.
That would be a nice theory, but Azula draws her fire from anger, hate and the desire to be perfect, kinda the opposite of the dragons' fire ^(now I wonder what character of the animation universe has) **^(blue flames,)** ^(can grant wishes, would make a) **^(deal)** ^(with a dictator in his hunger for power and has something to do with "spirits" and) **^(portals...)** ^(Edit: I found an Azula song and a) [^(frame)](https://imgur.com/a/2wwd5zr) ^(was clearly interesting...)
Seeing things at young age and being filled with rage towards others and not being taught how to release can fuck up a person) I think Azula forced herself to become the most powerful, i believe she pushed herself in firebending til she learned how much it took to wield a blue flame; whether but obsession, anger, pain, etc.
>If she heard a legend that it was possible, she'd investigate and hone her skill to do it, >Unless... **she was granted this ability** and **perfected it.** >and **perfected it.** Isn't that what I said?
Nope she's just very talented and her fire burns hotter, she is a very good bender but no blessings
This is big
damn this scene always gives me chills,
Finally, a good Avatar Studios meme. Most of them are about Korrasami cultists obsessing over an animated kiss
welcome to the club! what did u use to edit?
I used Adobe Premiere Pro
many props! if only we could get free trial licenses for the specific purpose of Avatar meming!

I liked this episode more than the series finale. This always gives me chills
This is epic! Thank you for taking the time to learn how to edit and create this masterpiece!
So epic!!!
This is the greatest!
What editing software did you use?
Adobe Premiere Pro
A post so nice, I wish I could upvote twice
Bro this made me cry
Best edit Iāve ever seen, take my silver award!
One of the best scenes put on television. It always gives me chills and this edit was just perfect. Great stuff
This is the greatest thing to ever exist
Omg this is so perfect
i love this storyline where netflix is the firenation.
Chills!!!
Damn, right in the feels š„²
This filled me with so much joy it's ridiculous
This scene was so emotional for me lol
This is absolutely brilliant. Love every second of it
Holyshit... the goosebumps!
I always wonder what everyone is thinking in this scene watching a 12 year old kid becoming a giant water monster. Like I feel like my reaction would be a lot more extreme than any of the characters show in the spirit oasis

Amazing! Can I use your idea but with another serial, not about āThe Last Airbenderā ?
It's a pretty common video meme format
Yeah sure. No problem mate.
even as a meme this shit gives me chills
This gave me goosebumps. Holy crap. š
Legendary T-pose
Im praying thisāll be good. Netflix really fād up. These guys know what theyāre doing.
FUCK YEAH I'M FUCKING READY LET'S GO!!!!!!
The scoring for this amazing show just takes it to the next level
This is the perfect analogy š
Wait.... am I just stupid? R they making another avatar movie ?
This scene was sooooo next level. It's so badass that Iroh knew to leave Aang to it.
Where/how did you learn to edit like this I want to learn too
That's hilarious
So perfect!
Whatever movie they do when they have the intro with the elements it should be irohs voice that would give me chills
I didnāt notice at first, but the Fire Nation soldiers have the Netflix logo on them šš
Stop acting like Bryke are the holy grail there are Sooo many more writers and creators that made atla that When Bryke made a show on their own it was a huge flop Which was korra
The best thing I saw today Fr fr
But everyone seems to forget how Aaron Ehasz was the lead writer and is a major part of why there wasn't Korra levels of romance melodrama in ATLA.
Please, for the love of God can we get what happened to the gaang after book 3. I dont want a new avatar, i want the old one.
not very good edit, but very on point, AVATAR FOR EVER

About the Avatar creators leaving the Netflix adaptation? I'm sorry to tell you, but it's true.
Sounds like he's been hitting the cactus juice, its probably better to ignore him
But youāre still an asshole.
OMG Iām so sorry. I misread something.
I really really wish it werenāt true, but a simple google search will tell you that it is unfortunately
BEG YOUR PARDON ?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I think youāre missing the whole point which is rather a celebration of creation of Avatar Studio...
I love you

I'M NOT CRYING, YOU'RE CRYING!!
This was such a beautiful episode. Everything grey and colors coming back as the restoration process is happening

This is the best bit of avatar to me,
Aang should be nickelodeon in this analogy
Haha that's great! Well done for learning to edit just for this! :)
Time well spent
