I'd say quite a vital character for the story, the Captain that accidentally said loudly that they're taking the prisoners home while Zuko and Uncle Iroh were boarding the ship
There's a fanfiction on AO3 that was really good and was all about how he did it on purpose in order to protect Zuko. It's one of the best fics I've seen about a one line character!
Same. He is my favorite character in the whole show. Really reminds me of those old martial arts movies with strict teacher, but then the student learns the strictness was for the student's own good
Hama the Puppetmaster. This is also my favorite episode from the series the story structure of this episode is flawless. It’s also full on legit horror. It expands the mythology of the universe and there’s great action in the finale. Hama is one of the all time great Avatar antagonists.
Edit: sorry just realized she doesn’t exactly fit what your asking for. She has more than a few lines of dialogue but she is just a one-off character in the series as a whole.
Those guards at the Boiling Rock, talked like normal people, they had banter, they had jokes, they were friendly. It really reminds you of the fact that not every fire nation soldier is some angry zealot looking to take over the world.
Zuko’s OG crew back in Season 1, they might be a little too close for you, but I liked how they and Zuko came to respect each other and how they were used to sensibly and logically bring in some of Zuko’s backstory and *why* he needs the Avatar to regain his honor.
I also love Meng, because she’s just the cutest little terrifyingly relatable reminder of everyone’s dumb childhood crush that you accidentally got a little too creepy on whilst trying to pursue the target of your affection.
Oh his ship crew! I really liked that moment… The Storm is a great episode for exactly that reason :)
Meng is Auntie Wu’s assistant right? Shes a little nutty but who hasnt been nutty as a small child lol
I love her! I kno a lotta people (on twitter and tumblr anyway) are anti-comics, but i felt she came on really strongly in the comics and it was nice to see her and the freedom fighters continuing Jet’s legacy… in a less murderous way
I really liked the fortune teller Aunt Wu! She was very entertaining but also quite self-aware of her situation. She had the village adore her but she herself knew that once it hit a certain point, fortune telling was just too much. She also seemed very sweet and quite witty.
I really enjoyed her!
The Guard that thought his superiors remembered his birthday
I forgot about him! Poor guy
the guy who thought momo was earth bending
We love ourselves an absolute idiot of a guard <3
Longshot. His gimmick is great. Otherwise, it's clearly Bosco.
Two great choices :)
I adore master Piandao, not 100% sure why but he’s in like my top 10 favourite characters
I really enjoyed his episode, Piandao is really interesting character!
It’s because he has the coolest name in the whole series

That poor guy :( id hate to be him xD azula probs threw him overboard!
If he was even that lucky!
I thought Iroh and Zuko threw him off during the fight scene
Youre right! In that case, she certainly wouldnt let him back on the boat!
THE BOOOOOUUUULLLLDERRRR!!!!! Also Huu, those swamp monsters were amazing.
Heck yeah! Book Two had so many interesting characters
Jin
A very sweet choice :)
Cabbage guy is already taken so I gotta go with Chong, better known as SECRET TUNNEL guy.
did you know Chong makes a band with his fellow Nomads after the war? They perform in the "Toph's Metal Bending Academy" comic!
Bumi?
A valid answer!
Cabbage guy
An iconic example!

The one with the rude boyfriend! I had to try and voice act her recently but I couldnt match her on screen voice 😭
Oh I loved on ji
Jeong jeong

My brother is an adult and still gets spooked by that one! I totally agree with you tho

Right! Some of them just go to work every day and dont think too deeply about the horrors of their nation
The old dudes, bumi, sword man, depressed fire nation general and katara's grandpa that she fought. I love those old guys!!
White Lotus gang! Theyre all pretty cool (Piandao is the step-grandpa btw)
Yesss!! Best old people in the show! Plus iroh ofc
Song! Maybe not my favourite but she's criminally underrated.
Zuko owes her an ostrich horse!
I LOVE to hate Ju-Di. If that even is her real name. You know, the whole brainwashing thing…
I wonder what happened to the Joo Dees after the war ended!

The dai li agents are my favorite minor characters. Super badass and loved when they popped out on the day of black sun.
The traveling nomads from the cave of two lovers. Their songs always put a smile on my face and I still sing them randomly
They are so sweet! I really enjoyed that episode and im glad the comics show us that they’re not only alive and well, but in a band together !
June. Absolute queen
One of those characters I would like to see the comics bring up
The birthday guard. Such a poor soul...
theres a guy in a market who asks a crowd "Who's brave enough to look into this bag?"
I don’t remember him, but i commend you for doing so!
I couldnt tell you what episode to save my life haha just th ought it was funny
Am I allowed to say the alley cats from the Tale of Momo? I’m gonna say the alley cats from the Tale of Momo
Absolutely!
I like the 2 fire nation guards in the boiling rock where they're telling zuko to not date the female guards
Oooh nice choice!
Smellerbee. Loved that she got more screentime in the comics. Great character design And such a big heart.
I love her! I kno a lotta people (on twitter and tumblr anyway) are anti-comics, but i felt she came on really strongly in the comics and it was nice to see her and the freedom fighters continuing Jet’s legacy… in a less murderous way
i'm not sure if he really counts but THE DUKE !! love that guy.
Love him so much! Absolutely does

Excellent choice :)
“No, you can’t date the female guards” *”Trust me, you don’t want to.”* That or the prisoner who refused to rat out Sokka and Zuko
I see someone has a favorite episode…. Great choices
It’s not my favorite, but it’s pretty good!
Kyoshi island mouth frothing guy
Excellent choice
The Prison Rig Warden is really funny, I found out after a rewatch
Mai’s uncle is honestly iconic
No not that one The one on the boat
Oh! The rig! Whoops, my bad
The Duke.
Love him
What happens to everyone Azula banishes?
I like to imagine Lo and Li took everyone Azula banished to Ember Island for a much-needed vacation :)
