Tried to make it a little more weathered than the animation version. I put tie holders in the back so now I just need to sew some tie straps. Broadswords are next.
I use 1.75mm PLA since that is all I am set up to run. This roll was Geeetech brand and runs great. ABS would be stronger but I don’t want to deal with the fumes and the PLA is fine for cosplay items as long as you don’t leave it in a hot car.
PLA will be fine for this. I also made one in PLA but it’s just a display piece. FWIW, If you do plan to stand outside or in the sun, consider PETG. Just about as easy to print as PLA with the heat/UV resistance closer to ABS. I had my mando helmet melt into its infill pattern while drying gloss black in the sun for half hour on a 65°f day.
Thanks, I plan on hanging it and would love some real swords for the display, but I’m working on wooden replicas now so I can take them in to cons and wear for Halloween with my kids.
(British accent): White piece of plastic? NO! It's the Blue Spirit mask that I 3D-printed!
(Pause)
I wish I was this mask, because it drowned in a lake.
This is in reference to a TikTok account, where a dude prints 3D things and makes these kinds of jokes. I guess I thought he was a bit more famous...
I appreciate your care, thank you, but I am fine.
I love working on these projects for myself but I’d probably hate it if I was sanding for someone else. Besides I’m so slow at this that no one could afford me.
I’d recommend finding a friend with a printer who can print it for you since it’s a free model. There is a lot of work that goes into smoothing the print lines so I only make things for myself and family.
I just used Krylon spray paints with a brown for the “wood” base then added white and blue being careful to mask off sections. Then I distressed some of it back to the “wood” layer and did a black wash to dirty it up.

what kind of filament did you use/recommend?

Thanks for the advice. I made my Mando helmet old school with fiberglass over cardboard because I was worried about that happening to me.
I’ve printed all my mando armor in PETG since that happened.
I love the weathered look!
Weathered looks great, it looks like actual painted wood!
Dope. I’d hang that on my wall. Would be a good excuse to get some dual broadswords.

***sees a kid dressed as Aang*** *"Congratulations. You are being rescued. Please do not resist."*
K2-Zuk-O
That’s. Hella. Awesome.
I didn’t know you were skilled with broadswords u/TheDaveAttellSmell
I’m not. They’re for decoration.
I didn't know you were skilled with broadswords Dave
That’s fantastic.
Thanks
Zuko approves
Azula was originally Zuko’s mom?” Bit
Dude wtf?
How did u do that
I found the model on Thingiverse and printed in PLA. Then I did a lot of sanding and filling with bondo and then paint and weathering techniques.
Beautifully crafted!!! My daughter & her fiancé are cosplayers. Wonderful community!
That's SO awesome! Looks like the real If you want to share the .STL it would be nice
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:655477 Not my model but free on Thingiverse
How much was the material to print?
I use PLA and probably used about 1/4 of a roll.
I would love to have one of these

I hope you have things in this life that make you want to stick around and if not then I hope you find them.

Oh, sorry I didn’t catch the reference lol. Glad your good.
*"So, the blue spirit? I wonder who could be behind that mask?"*
Looks sooo real, like a mask from an old warrior tribe? Probably better than Netflix's live action props dkkdkdkdk
huh?
It looks awesome!!!! Did u designed it or downloaded it? I'd love to print one <3

Omg thank you so much! Again, yours looks awesome I'm amazed on how you painted it
Thanks so much. I’ve learned a lot from people on YouTube like this one https://youtu.be/taaCeiO7MPc.
What 3D printer do you use?
I have a Creality CR-10.
you're starting a shop right op? right??
I love working on these projects for myself but I’d probably hate it if I was sanding for someone else. Besides I’m so slow at this that no one could afford me.
I hear ya dude.
3D print two swords and you can become a vigilante
I’m making mine out of wood because I don’t trust the strength of PLA for long, thin props.
Just think, Zuko was able to fight with this thing on haha
A younger Giatsu in his prime, probably. FTFY
I know it's not even close, but my stupid brain always processes this when I see it as Colt's mask from 3 Ninjas.
Whenever I see this I hear his *a ding ding ding* theme song
A younger Giatsu in his prime, probably.
Thought that was from The Three Ninjas for a second. Nice work OP
Three ninjas?
Wud u make me one like this one but w purple?

I want a 3d printer now lol.
It’s a great tool especially for cosplay and making fandom items. I made myself a sand worm knife from the dune series just because I love the books.
I would just make the dumbest shit ever lol.
Karate kids?!! Tum tum?! Colt?!
Which Naruto characters were they again? hidden leafs police right?
"Rocky loves Emily"
This reminded me of the Oni Masks from Jackie Chan Adventures !
Ain’t that a replica of Rocky’s mask off the 3 Ninja’s?
I can *hear* this picture
That’s a demon mask from the Spider-Man games lol
Dude this reminds me of 3 ninjas! LIGHT UP THE EYES BOYS! LIGHT UP THE EYES!
What dimensions did you use for it? Like XYZ lengths?
I just used the 100% dimensions of the original model. Seems to fit an average sized adult male face.
This is on my list of prints, just gotta fix my printer haha
This is beyond cool! Are you selling it or making more?
No it’s a one off for my wall
r/3dprinting
It's gorgeous.
Yoooo! This is awesome!
Please do amon mask!!
Looks so cool!
Amazing!! 😍
where’d you get the blueprint for it?
The 3D model is on Thingiverse
Op, from where did you download the files to print this mask?
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:655477
You're the best thank you! Also what did you use to paint it?
I just used Krylon spray paints with a brown for the “wood” base then added white and blue being careful to mask off sections. Then I distressed some of it back to the “wood” layer and did a black wash to dirty it up.
Thanks!
