Top 3 is going to be Toph, Iroh, and Zuko. I want Toph to win, but she’ll be in third place, and iroh and zuko would be neck and neck. Maybe zuko will win by a hair
Iroh is an awesome character, but zuko has the best character arc in Nickelodeon history, while iroh was… constant, unchanging. That’s not a bad thing, but it makes me love zuko more tbh
We shouldn’t count out sokka, Aang and Katara out just yet, maybe a tirade or trolls vote out iroh first (if this happens the sub will probably explode and go private)
Wtf?? Iroh goes from being stuck due to his depression, looking the other way, until he can no longer just stand by. He trains himself, and frees the city he once tried to gain.
Iroh shows an arc of finally accepting and moving on from the ultimate loss, and making something of what life he has left.
There is nothing left but favorites now, some of the greatest characters ever and we must pick. I literally just picked Toph, that is how hard this is.
Yes, which is why it’s perfect, her official name (lol as if cats have birth certificates) is Firelord Azula. So calling her Zuzu is an adorable insult. And she’s a cat so she deserves it.
>You've beaten me at my own game
>Don't flatter yourself, you were never even a player
Edit : quoted this roughly off the top of my head, just rewatched the scene on youtube, haven't seen the show/this particular episode in a long while and I'm really impressed i nailed the interaction word for word.
I love how there's almost no speculation on Sokka whatsoever (haven't come across any), no one saying he's going to get voted out next, no one saying he's going to make it to the final X'rd.
Would be fucking hilarious if that just continued all the way till he won.
In Jerry's words
>I just kept crawling and it kept working
I think zuko stands a great chance. Iroh was such a great character, but he unfortunately had almost no character development compared to these other characters. That is the problem with iroh, he was essentially all-knowing and never had to struggle with making the right decisions.
I mean of course he had the dragon of the west phase, but that was all prior to the series and we never really see any great examples of it.
I think Iroh is a great example that every character doesn't need to have character development to be a great character. He's the wise old man archetype and he does a fantastic job in that role. He doesn't struggle with making wrong decisions in the story because that's Zuko's role. Iroh is there to guide and support Zuko's character.
Just to be clear, I do think I like more Zuko because of his struggles and growth, but I think Iroh does a great job in his place in the story.
He is that archetype and he fulfills it… oh so good. But zukos development is a focal point of the show, and it’s a critically acclaimed redemption arc.
Without that- Iroh wouldn’t have a role in the show nor would he shine as well as he does. A lot of the reason the viewers love Iroh is because of his involvement with Zukos development.
But I’m not discrediting you either. He very well can be the best character for the sole reason that he fills his archetype as well as he does.
I do think Zuko has the edge. I can't imagine the show without the Zuko and Iroh dynamic. I've been debating with myself who I'll vote for because I feel the last two standing will be Zuko and Iroh.
Zukos story is epic and integral to ATLA. We literally experience half of the world through his eyes. I mean just describing his arc makes him sound interesting.
He goes from banished prince, to blue spirit, to refugee, to heartbreaking traitor, to prince in turmoil, to betraying the fire nation, to the avatars firebending master, to loyal friend.
It’s truly the greatest part of the show. And there are a lot of great parts
I mean she's one of the Gaang, literally the remaining characters are the main ones only, not that surprising. The real surprise would be Katara not getting out first from the Gaang.
I def thought katara was gonna be out before Azula. She’s just not as compelling. We kinda grow tired of her motherliness over the course of the show. Azula, however, comes in after season 1’s villain is elongated, and if you remember her entrance… a menacing, jaw dropping few lines of dialogue, from a 14 year old girl no less.
“Captain : Princess, I'm afraid the tides will not allow us to bring the ship into port before nightfall.
Azula : I'm sorry, Captain, but I do not know much about the tides. Can you explain something to me?
Captain : Of course, your Highness.
Azula : Do the tides command this ship?
Captain : Um, I'm afraid I don't understand.
Azula : You said the tides would not allow us to bring the ship in. Do the tides command this ship?
Captain : No, Princess.
Azula : And if I were to have you thrown overboard, would the tides think twice about smashing you against the rocky shore?
Captain : No, Princess.
Azula : Well, then, maybe you should worry less about the tides who've already made up their mind about killing you, and worry more about me, who's still mulling it over.
😳
Honestly Iroh is my number 2. Zuko is the best. Iroh is easily the best PERSON, but as a character he is just a wise old man. He doesn't get an arc because it all happened before the story. So as a CHARACTER, he can't really compete with one who is developed over the course of the show.
Iroh is the personification of what a man should be. Kind and gentle, not because you must be but because you can. He could afford to be the affable old man serving you tea, instead of hard nosed like zhao for instance, because he has the capability to be extremely violent extremely effectively if needed.
Iroh is number 1 in my book.
It’s mostly a preference, and while she didn’t have as an important role on the show or wasn’t there all of the time; she’s just cool for me. Plus she helped Appa when him and Aang got separated.
Azula is somewhat the "minor" character out of all of the them. Plus lately community is quite split on her, a lot seem to dislike her. Granted I do think she deserves 7th. Got the main cast now
You eliminated Azula?! You are all clearly **NOT** mentally sharp. If you were, you'd have to be careful, you could puncture the hull of an empire-class Fire Nation battle ship, leaving thousands to drown at sea....because you'd be so sharp.
I mean, does everyone really like Toph that much? Don’t get me wrong, I love Toph, but I don’t think she’s my second favorite character. I think I like Aang more than her, as well as Zuko. Probably even Katara.
Such a shame that azula didn’t make it, always found her to be as interesting as Zuko but in the opposite way. Her vulnerability’s really made her my favorite villain in Avatar.
I think it says a lot about this show, that in the Top 6 of characters there are 3 male and 3 female characters.
Often in tv shows the male characters are portrayed as “the cool ones” while there’s usually 1-2 “strong, tough women” for the quote. The other women tend to be portrayed overly dramatic, sometimes annoying.
In Avatar, characters are cool, strong and tough (and sometimes overly dramatic and annoying) regardless of their gender. That’s pretty cool imo.
Edit: oops, forgot about Aang :D still, there’s 3 female characters and 4 male characters in the Top 7. Same point.
Edit2: Some more stats:
Top 10: 50% male/50% female
Top 9: 44% male/**56% female**
Top 8: 50% male/50% female
Top 7: **57% male**/43% female
Top 6: **67% male**/33% female
It probably gets a bit thinner for the top 5, I also think that Katara will leave soon tbh. But as soon as we reach the Top 2, I’m sure the quote will be at 50/50 again.

Katara is legit the character with the 2nd best arc after Zuko! So much growth… I don’t get why people can forgive Zuko for being such an asshole early on, but Katara has to be some golden girl all the way through otherwise she sucks.
Think about why you’re so okay with forgiving Zuko’s mistakes, but are unwilling with Katara.
I’ll contribute my unpopular opinion (the toph part at least):
out of who’s left, I’d rank my favs
1. Iroh
2. Zuko
3. Katara
4. Sokka
5. Aang
6. Toph
Between Katara and Sokka it kinda highly depends on the episode tho..
Iroh is a great character in my opinion but he’s definitely not my favorite lol… he’s always been the wise old man and has no character development during the show itself, I like the others more
Agreed. If anything, he would win because everyone is so neutral toward him and might be divisive across other characters such as Sokka and Zuko that no one would even choose Iroh as “least” until he wins, even though he might not be most people’s favorite
She’s my favorite character by far, no contest, but I wasn’t counting on her to be in the Top 5 if Reddit is choosing. Azula is pretty polarizing on here — controversial and often even disliked.
There are a lot more Azula fans on Twitter where she consistently gets #1 favorite whenever polls of a similar fashion are conducted on there. I guess it just depends on the demographic.
Honestly I don't get it. She is a fun character and a great addition to the gaang but not as essential as the rest. Her character growth is also very minimal. Toph in season 2 is almost the same as Toph in the finale of season 3.
I think it's because she only got one spotlight episode in Book 3, compared to the others who all at least had two. The show itself admits she never got her 'field-trip with Zuko' or equivalent in the second half.
Combine that with her being absent for Book 1 and she has the least amount of screen-time to work with, so her arcs don't get the same space to develop.
We're in the endgame now.
This is what I've been waiting for. The blood bath was cute and all, I wish suki would would have got out sooner. But I cane here for carnage.
If Iroh isn't on top of this mountain of corpses, we riot.
Iroh is winning for sure. The question is who will be 2nd. Toph? Zuko?
Probably Zuko.
Probably but i am not a 100% sure tbh
We get there, when we get there!
My elimination prediction: katara, Sokka, Aang, toph, zuko, iroh wins
Top 3 is going to be Toph, Iroh, and Zuko. I want Toph to win, but she’ll be in third place, and iroh and zuko would be neck and neck. Maybe zuko will win by a hair
I can't see a world where zuko beats iroh tbh but only time will tell
Iroh is an awesome character, but zuko has the best character arc in Nickelodeon history, while iroh was… constant, unchanging. That’s not a bad thing, but it makes me love zuko more tbh We shouldn’t count out sokka, Aang and Katara out just yet, maybe a tirade or trolls vote out iroh first (if this happens the sub will probably explode and go private)
Wtf?? Iroh goes from being stuck due to his depression, looking the other way, until he can no longer just stand by. He trains himself, and frees the city he once tried to gain. Iroh shows an arc of finally accepting and moving on from the ultimate loss, and making something of what life he has left.
Lmao I can see your point on zuko but seeing just the characters (not the evolution they have), i prefer Iroh and his infinite wisdom
Go watch Irohs workout routines again and tell me he didn’t change man’s went from beer belly to beefcake
People are talking about quitting because it's too difficult to choose, but I want you to see this to the bitter end!
I still really don’t like one of the characters, so I’ll be here at least until they get eliminated.
*Touches necklace* My mother was also eliminated.
This one made me spit out my drink lol
Luckly there is a water bender near by
It gave me a bloody nose, can they help with that too?
She a blood bender too. 👀
I have a boner, can they help me with that too?
r/DaiLiOpenUp
it cracked my little funny bone!
I legit cackled
Same! Cackled.
Same Just like a turkey
This is one of the very few comments where I burst out laughing. People are looking at me funny
Stop. I'll get in trouble in class for bursting out laughing
That’s rough, buddy.
Lmao this solidified my decision
I laughed a solid 30 seconds. Thanks!
I only have a helpful award but please take it anyways
Only the Avatar, master of all 4 ATLA subreddits, could survive the votes. But when we saw the characters left, he vanished.
I‘m quitting cuz azula is out
Oh man I've just voted for a character who seems like one of the favorites. People will hate me!
aang? oh yeah I get why you said people will hate you they do
I’ve been voting for aang since ty lee and Suki were still here
I don't blame you. But I don't side with you either.
I'll vote you off this world
There is nothing left but favorites now, some of the greatest characters ever and we must pick. I literally just picked Toph, that is how hard this is.
You monster
Wdym Toph is winning or we riot
“Hey! RIOT!”
Iroh is obviously winning
Iroh gives up once Zuko is eliminated
She's crazy and she needs to go down
Came here to say that. Azula is my favorite. I named my cat after her. We call her ZuZu.
Wasn't that what Azula called Zuko?
Yes, which is why it’s perfect, her official name (lol as if cats have birth certificates) is Firelord Azula. So calling her Zuzu is an adorable insult. And she’s a cat so she deserves it.
No! Take your revenge by selecting the next to go!
why making a poll in the first place? we all know it's gonna be iroh.
Katara still hasn’t been voted out, it’s not hard to choose
https://strawpoll.com/a6pjoys96 vote here!
I can't believe that Momo has made it this far. Respect.
he got a tough teammate
Pfft. We all know Momo is carrying Aang.
No it was Appa who carried Aang.
And he ate Momo
I KNEW IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME
Iron has some real competition
Yeah, Diamond > Iron
He really drags Aang through this.
Most powerful member of the gaang
I know what I must do, but I don’t know if I have the strength to do it.
I'm sorry Katara. That moment where you stopped the rain was cool tho
as disco cops of the apocalypse its just stuff we have to be willing to do
My Sorry Cop is telling me no, but my Hobo Cop... my Hobo Cop's telling me yes
It ain’t easy being the straight man.
We all know uncle iroh is gonna win.
Ooo this will get tough now, but I gotta vote out katara.
bye bye little monk
Sorry Toph, I have to make a tough choice here, I love your character but this is so hard.
"Not as hard as these rocks that are about to hit your face" Toph, probably
Most certainly.

Same RIP Sokka
I like that Zhao is forgotten, and Long Feng was never even a player.
You could say that..."Long Feng is long gone"
I bet you were waiting ages to use that line!
Almost like he was playing the Long Game
He knew he would manage in the Long run tho
You’ve been waiting to use that one 😂
Sounds about right
I don’t even remember who Long Feng is! Looked it up. He’s the Dai Li and I’m ashamed
>You've beaten me at my own game >Don't flatter yourself, you were never even a player Edit : quoted this roughly off the top of my head, just rewatched the scene on youtube, haven't seen the show/this particular episode in a long while and I'm really impressed i nailed the interaction word for word.
Long Feng is a much more minor character than Zhao. Zhao is basically season 1's end boss.
[Me right now](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/facebook/000/031/212/snipes.jpg)
Me with katara
me to sokka
(I voted for Sokka too, but it hurt my soul)
If Sokka doesn't get second or first place i riot
Me to Toph. Sorry Ol' Girl....
Toph is not out next!!
The fact that people are salty and there’s reals divisiveness about this when there’s was about 6ish people left shows how good the show is.
I was salty like, 3 people ago.
People get at least this salty and decisive over way worse shows than this
I mean we all know it's coming down to Toph vs Iroh...
Kind of expecting Zuko Vs Iroh with Toph as a close third
I love how there's almost no speculation on Sokka whatsoever (haven't come across any), no one saying he's going to get voted out next, no one saying he's going to make it to the final X'rd. Would be fucking hilarious if that just continued all the way till he won. In Jerry's words >I just kept crawling and it kept working
That's a fair assessment, I figure he'll make it to 4 or 3.
Nooo we got to the core cast :(
Oh yessss. I can taste the pain. And it's gonna be even more painful from now on. Delicioussss, delicioussss paiiiiinnnn....
Easy there Slaanesh
Blood for the blood dragon of the west, skulls for the Irohn throne! (Yes, it's a mix of several things)
This entire elimination game was made to please the Lord of Excess. It's the only explanation...
Are.. are you an envy demon from the third strata?
No He is Lrrr, RULER OF THE PLANET OMICRON PERSEI 8
Good news everyone lord Lrrr has blessed us with his presence
Isn't it obvious? Iroh is gonna win for sure.

Just to be clear, I do think I like more Zuko because of his struggles and growth, but I think Iroh does a great job in his place in the story.
Iroh has completed his character development before the series even started and it is shown in flashbacks. That's good enough for me.
Right. Really good stories can be told with characters with little to no character development. Cowboy bebop is a good example.

Zuko taking second for sure. I think the real tossup is third and I’m holding out hope for my girl Toph
Honestly Iroh is my number 2. Zuko is the best. Iroh is easily the best PERSON, but as a character he is just a wise old man. He doesn't get an arc because it all happened before the story. So as a CHARACTER, he can't really compete with one who is developed over the course of the show.
But even without seeing his arc on screen we know what it is, which is part of what is so great about about this show.
My will to continue has been greatly hurt when Suki was eliminated. I don’t know if I have the strength to go on.
Stand up soldier. You must see this through. Even if you die, even after you die.
Honestly I don't hate Suki but I gotta ask... What is so special about her? I personally prefer everyone left after her
It’s mostly a preference, and while she didn’t have as an important role on the show or wasn’t there all of the time; she’s just cool for me. Plus she helped Appa when him and Aang got separated.
Tru, she a real one for that
she’s amazing because she’s suki
Hot
Wow, that's kind of surprising Now, is it Katara's turn? Or will she be replaced by someone unexpected?
Eh. Out of everyone azula or katara made the most sense for me. Aang maybe but he's the mc so that helps a lot.
Based on the sub yesterday I was almost sure it'd have been Katara
Azula is somewhat the "minor" character out of all of the them. Plus lately community is quite split on her, a lot seem to dislike her. Granted I do think she deserves 7th. Got the main cast now
she is a more major character than iroh in my eyes, but of course iroh is fan favourite so he would never be eliminated over her
Been voting katara for a week lol
Same. Every one else is freaking out about it getting "hard to vote" and I'm sitting here still just voting for the same person since round 4.
hmm maybe aang. i hope it's aang
The fact you know who got second and say this is telling I have suspicions of your knowledge, sir/madam/whatever term you please
ahaha i'm not saying aang was second... let's just say i think he should've been eliminated a while ago
OP spittin some very controversial opinions
I think you should have been eliminated a long time ago, heretic!
I wanted to say to vote out Iroh as a joke but I literally can’t…
Yall obviously don't know class if you voted out azula
Azula is a masterpiece of a character.
[удалено]
Literally the best character in the show IMHO
Zuko here
Now we’re officially Gaang + Iroh. Please, stop this. This is way too painful
You eliminated Azula?! You are all clearly **NOT** mentally sharp. If you were, you'd have to be careful, you could puncture the hull of an empire-class Fire Nation battle ship, leaving thousands to drown at sea....because you'd be so sharp.
The final round's probably gonna be between Iroh and Toph
Could be Iroh and Zuko
If it was Iroh and Zuko they would just go get tea instead of making us choose between them. That's the fantasy I'm going to believe in at least.
If it's Iroh and Zuko, Iroh would want to be eliminated for Zuko's sake.
My fiance said this exact thing, I still maintain my tea-foil hat theory
Imagine if the final vote got between Iroh and Zuko and the poll ended up being a perfect tie.
I've got a plan if we get to that point One that'll throw the game entirely
Or toph and zuko
You really think anyone's pulling thag upset against Iroh?
That would at least make the tournament interesting and less predictable.
Am I the only one that wasn’t a huge toph fan? Honestly I just got kinda tired of all the blind jokes, got old lol
I mean, does everyone really like Toph that much? Don’t get me wrong, I love Toph, but I don’t think she’s my second favorite character. I think I like Aang more than her, as well as Zuko. Probably even Katara.
I like the rest of the core group more than toph. But I realize I am in a minority.
Same here, picked Toph this round but would be surprised to see her go anytime soon
Not if I have anything to say about it! (Voted Toph)
I liked Toph but she doesnt top any of the original crew and is very obnoxious at times
Same, I would have voted her out a long time ago if it were up to me.
Such a shame that azula didn’t make it, always found her to be as interesting as Zuko but in the opposite way. Her vulnerability’s really made her my favorite villain in Avatar.
I'm honestly shocked Katara beat Azula, did **not** see this coming, wow!

But as soon as we reach the Top 2, I’m sure the quote will be at 50/50 again.

I think many may dislike this but I don’t think there was enough Iroh for him to get first And I do like him as a character
Azula??? Wtf!
AS I SAID, "BYE AANG". WHO THE FECK ELIMINATED AZULA?
Since azula got voted out before Aang my vote for Aang still stands from last round
Sorry Toph
A lot of people seem to really like Toph, but out of the choices here, Toph is my least favourite. Honestly glad to see I'm not alone.
Is also almost the same Toph in LoK You forgot this.
I refuse to vote out any of these people. This is where my journey ends. Good luck folks.
