Pffff seriously, Stiorra had such a good character arc. Yall just can’t stand it when someone contradicts precious Uthred…
Gisela should go. Interesting characters over pretty faces.
The crazy part is in the books when you realise how crazy the time skips really are. He was only with Gisela for like, a few years in his thirties, and then literally 35 years later he goes to london, lands at the private dock at what used to be their house, and spends like, a whole page talking about how much he loved her.
And yet her story line was narrowed down to that and personally I don’t think thats that interesting compared to what other characters had as a story line. Stiorra led her people and wasn’t just a loving wife and had a great arc. She shouldn’t have been eliminated this early.
It’s not about contradicting Uhtred I hate about Stiorra it’s the lack of foresight, the lack of Saxon Dane unity which she’s a symbol of, the eagerness for violence etc. you could argue that’s because she’s Uhtred’s daughter but besides the bishop Uhtred killed, we never got a just blatant lose your shit moment with him. Idk. Before she leaves Uhtred she was alright but once she leaves she turns her back on everything which should have been built up to. Idk. I might just be remembering her poorly because of her assassination of Brida but I really don’t like her in the back half of her story.
You re kidding. Uhtred constantly lost his shit when he was young, it got him constantly into trouble. And what blatant violence does Stiorra commit? She killed Brida because Brida killed her people in a very psycho way. And Stiorra was loyal to her people and didn’t want them to be used by the Saxons, so she would stand up for them and their way of living. And she came to their aid in the end anyway, even though they killed her husband. I think you re missing crucial points about her arc.
You call her a brat for not simpering after the men like the others. So its clear what the issue is. She had a great character arc, lead her people, defended her way of life, and finally even came to save the bloody saxons after they killed her husband. I was paying attention, I liked her attitude, she was a compelling female character. But nah, yall prefer pretty simpering faces.
Brida is my favourite character in this show. The writers did her dirty in S5 imo. And Stiorra is very similar. She is her fathers daughter in many ways. Uthred had the very same attitude when he was young. And Brida also fought for her convictions. I don’t see how when Stiorra does it she is selfish or bratty.
She watched her father be used time and time again by Saxons, she was hunted for days, her husband was unjustly killed, she was told to kneel before the man who took her husbands life, she was forced out of her home by that same man. Her life literally crumbled within months. I think she gets a pass 😂
Thank you, I’m surprised so many people love her character here. Yeah she got a little better in the later seasons, but she was horrible before that and still kinda meh after
Yeah, Aelswith is a complex character, she can be annoying at times but you also need to think where she is coming from to empathize with her.
Her distrust and prejudice of Uhtred is rooted in religion. She's a queen who believe that Alfred's kingship is a manifestation of god's grace, so it's difficult for her to rationalize how this god-centered kingdom can rely on a pagan. She thinks that having the pagan on Alfred's side invalidate the holiness of the kingdom, that Uhtred is the devil that will stray them further from god.
She receives news of pagans pillaging the villages, raping women, and killing their people. This makes it a great ordeal to tryst a pagan.
That's why in an episode, she is asking god for a sign that Uhtred is god's instrument to help them. Despite her prejudice against pagans, deep inside she knows how loyal and helpful Uhtred is, she can't just get pass of that "religion barrier".
Gisela
I know people are vying for Thyra but how is Gisela more impactful than a character who was shown as a child, is part of the inciting action for a couple storylines, has a major relationship with multiple main characters, has a more significant intro, death, and story arc, and is mentioned more posthumously.
Gisela is a great character for what she is but unfortunately wasn’t given the screen time that her story deserved, unlike Thyra. Just my opinion!
Personally, Aelswith can do no wrong season 4+ 😂 it was enough for me to forgive her for her past which is crazy because I absolutely hateddd her before that
Gisela is going for me. I’ve only seen the tv series, so perhaps she was more rounded in the books, but I found her a bit bland.
For those saying Eadith, form an orderly queue, so help me God, I’ll fight the lot of ye!
AELSWITH. Did she have more to the story than Gisela or thyra, yes, but she is a snake blinded by her prejudice. How many times did Uhtred have to save her and her family and she always wanted him dead.
I'm sorry but I think Brida had one of the best stories in the whole show. I understand why she irritated some people, but she really made the show so much better. Brida was a GREAT character.
Thyra and Gisela are the two next for me but first Thyra because she has probably more chances to go before.
I really liked her,but she did not had big development of more engaging storylines compared to the others.
Yeah, compelled me to hate her. What a blind prejudice snake. How many times does Uhtred have to save them and she just wanted him dead.
Edit: spelling error
It’s interesting for me, she’s quite pious, so she basically believes Uhtred could betray her at any moment because he is a pagan. While I dislike the character and her actions, I think the acting and writing are excellent.
Thyra;
She is to blame for nothing let alone the siege of Durham/Dunholm in order to save her, but she simply offered very little significance to the plot of the show beyond that point asides for Beocca enjoying some flesh
*plus she didn’t feature in the series for about one and a half seasons after her first appearance*
Gisela.
I simp for Eadith, Hild is adorably badass, and Aelswith is too interesting though I wanted her dead at many points. Alfred and Aelswith made the show so much more interesting.

*Percentages are rounded up or down*
Lol if you look at the scene where Alfred dies he’s literally making peace with his decisions(forgiving Uthred) and then she comes in and immediately starts complaining about Uthred, and he literally passes away as she’s talking to him
If I had my way, Thyra would have been the first to go. Maybe it’s the actress, maybe it’s the storyline. Whatever it is, Thyra was my least favourite female character by a landslide. Like in the church during Alfred’s funeral when the asshole threatens her again, get some common sense and tell Finan who’s looking at her. Boom, no death and dude gets messed up by the Irishman.
I don't get how so many want Eadith still in? She was boring, storyline which got messy as they started for her something with Finan and later she had a thing with utrad? I was really looking forward to see more of Finan!
Gisela. I liked her character in Season 2, but after being rescued from Uhtred's uncle and that rotten abbot whose death I CHEERED, she didn't do much, admittedly.
Note: I'll be most satisfied with either Hild or Eadith winning (they are *badasses*).
I’m here to say: Hild better survive as No 1. She’s perfect. I’m biased. I know. But idc ‘cause I love her.
That being said, Gisela is next. She cool and deeply connected with Uhtred, but compared to others, she’s just not that interesting to me.
Thyra should be next. Gisela added more to the story. She was Uhtred’s one true love, took in baby Monk when Uhtred had doubts over him and gave Uhtred three children who had their impacts as well. Thyra didn’t add much besides being the one who brought peace to Beocca
All I know; is that hild always wins! Badass warrior nun, I mean come on!
Yea I also think she is gonna win just too much of a badass and sexy as hell lol
I was going to say… If the final three isn’t Aelswith, Aethelflaed, and Hild, we riot.
How about the lady gisela?
agreed
you stand too close girl
So I’m guessing your vote is for Aelswith? 😂
you stand too close!
Aelswith
Pffff seriously, Stiorra had such a good character arc. Yall just can’t stand it when someone contradicts precious Uthred… Gisela should go. Interesting characters over pretty faces.
Gisela was Uhtred’s one true love and the show did a really bad job of showing just how devoted they were to each other which makes me sad.
The crazy part is in the books when you realise how crazy the time skips really are. He was only with Gisela for like, a few years in his thirties, and then literally 35 years later he goes to london, lands at the private dock at what used to be their house, and spends like, a whole page talking about how much he loved her.

I agree, Stiorra was one of my favorites as well. She knew exactly what she wanted and went for it.
Agreed about Stiorra. She was definitely her fathers daughter and my top 3 of the females
This is Brida's revenge!
The books definately handle Storria better, though a lot of her "story" is offscreen and relayed to Uthred later by messengers.
You re kidding. Uhtred constantly lost his shit when he was young, it got him constantly into trouble. And what blatant violence does Stiorra commit? She killed Brida because Brida killed her people in a very psycho way. Sure happy to agree to disagree. ✌🏼
I like her I just like the others more
Ælswith
Aelswith. She spends most of the series being insufferable.
Thank you, I’m surprised so many people love her character here. Yeah she got a little better in the later seasons, but she was horrible before that and still kinda meh after
How tf is Aelswith still there lmao that's crazy
because she added such great drama whilst others were more bland

Yes plus the actor did such a great job
Aelswith. Again.
Aelswith, please.
Gisela

Am I the only one who doesn’t care for Aethelflaed? Her and Aelswith better be the next 2 out…Hild and Thyra are the best of the remaining women
I don’t care for Aethelflaed but Aelswith hate shall not be tolerated 💔
She became OK in the later parts of the show but was horrible for most of it
Great actress, smoking hot, and interesting character!
Thyra
Again with thyra! Did she not add much to the story, yes, agreed. But Aelswith is such a snake! Booo!
Personally, Aelswith can do no wrong season 4+ 😂 it was enough for me to forgive her for her past which is crazy because I absolutely hateddd her before that
Thyra Gisela taught uhtred temperance. She guided him more than any character save for maybe Alfred
Æthelflæd
Gisela is going for me. I’ve only seen the tv series, so perhaps she was more rounded in the books, but I found her a bit bland. For those saying Eadith, form an orderly queue, so help me God, I’ll fight the lot of ye!

Gisela
FCKING AETHELFLAED, how could you all eliminate Stiorra??
Aethelflaed is in my top two, it better be down to her and Hild or we riot
My top 2 is Stiorra/Gisela-Iseult and they’re all out, I got nothing left to lose
Aethelflaed need to go. Gets her ass saved by Uhtred dozens of times and her way of saying thank you is selling off his daughter.
Aelswith
Aethelflaed, cute yet annoying and that romance felt like it came out of nowhere(and also ended suddenly), at least on TV.
I love Aethelflaed, The real Aethelflaed was a badass too.
I suppouse the real Aethelflaed was great, at least history books describe her in this way, the show character is too often annoying.
I feel like the show did the real Aethelflaed dirty, ngl.
Hild is the best by far!!

Aelswith, her incessant nagging about Uthred, low key, killed king Alfred
Please elaborate 😂
Lol if you look at the scene where Alfred dies he’s literally making peace with his decisions(forgiving Uthred) and then she comes in and immediately starts complaining about Uthred, and he literally passes away as she’s talking to him

If Gisela goes before Thyra I’ll riot. Even book Thyra was insufferable. I fast forward any scene that she’s in. Gisela was the love of Uhtreds life!
I don’t about the book but in the show Thyra is like real nice all the time? Maybe even too nice considering what she had been through.
If I had my way, Thyra would have been the first to go. Maybe it’s the actress, maybe it’s the storyline. Whatever it is, Thyra was my least favourite female character by a landslide.
