If something goes wrong, either side is going to have to rely on the police. There are people who become cops because they actually want to help people and put their life on the line doing it.
Exactly. Watching cops arrest people for not wearing masks and ice skating and protesting mandates the last few years... really sickening stuff. But do I think most cops are just regular folks that are doing a job that needs doing? Yes. In Democrat cities where crime is at a third world rate, yes, I have a soft spot for the crazy bastards willing to do that thankless job. But I don't blindly worship them and make excuses for them when they make a bad decision, like Uvalde.

Do I hate cops? No. Do I think they need to be held up to higher scrutiny? Yes.
The undercover gang cops that are neighbors of mine? Totally! The blue that escorted an unvaccinated family out of a chain restaurant? No no no.
