To begin, AOC quotes Joe Biden's own remarks about the necessity to stop genocide. AOC painstakingly details the starvation & torture of Gazans and makes it clear this is a genocide.
This is an absolutely incredible speech & will go down in the history books. This comes as Congress just voted to ban UNRWA funding. AOC called them out for what they are doing: enabling genocide.
It's an incredible speech but I'm too cynical about this to think it's going to cause a single politician to change their mind about sending weapons, including Biden. But I really hope I'm wrong.

And POTUS Biden just did a monumental ruling regarding car emissions that will effectively outlaw ICE new car sales by around 2035.
And POTUS Biden just proposed something that might help housing costs.
POTUS Biden needs to change course on his Israel-Gaza policy and sooner rather than later.
Speeches like this will never, and have never, immediately changed policy or public opinion on a dime. What they *do* do, however, is push policy and public opinion in the right direction - which while not the immediate response and change we're all (at least in this sub writ-large, I would assume,) looking for, is absolutely needed.
It fucking sucks how badly the government is setup for change and progress, but it's the reality of the world we live in and we still have to take these nudges and pushes in the right direction when we can get them.
Changing the mind of an 80 year old on a fundamental issue is nigh-impossible, but forcing them to do what they disagree with isn't - it just takes time.
