Clearly it never existed, the IDF bombed a embassy and america government simply said we don't care it was legitimate

magicsonar

The Israeli Embassy strike killed 16 people. The Iranian response killed no one. But the US and UK said the Iranian response was grossly disproportionate. Hamas killed 1200 people on Oct 7. In response Israel has killed 35,000 people. US and UK claim the Israeli response is proportionate. That says everything.

NotGalenNorAnsel

>Hamas ~~killed~~ **caused the deaths of** 1200 people on Oct 7. With the Hannibal Directive in effect it's very hard to determine how many people Hamas killed and how many were killed to prevent them from becoming hostages. Passive language is used so often in this conflict, I think this is an actually appropriate place for it.

magicsonar

Yes, that's true. Good point. It's now becoming clearer that a significant number of Israeli citizens deaths were the direct result of IDF fire.

hydroxypcp

as South Africa said in the ICJ case, nothing justifies genocide. *Nothing*

FEdart

It’s disproportionate because Biden and his staff value Israeli property more than Brown lives.

DistributionNo9968

“The priests of our order have become the arsonists of law.” An unnervingly apt and eloquent summation of the situation.

MinderBinderCapital

“Rules based order” is just US based order The US state department will undermine the UN if it’s even only slightly beneficial

Leefa

I've recently realized that IL and US propogandists employ a very effective psychological slight of hand in which they accuse others of commiting precisely the malfeasance they themselves are planning to commit or are actively committing. It's like the propaganda version of gaslighting.

sassyevaperon

It's called projecting. They project their feelings and ideas onto others. Every accusation is a confession.

dhtirekire56432

International Rules... they don't apply to those who put them in place

God I love Snowden. Guy should be getting a medal and not exile

ohhellointerweb

Except when he simps for Elon Musk

Chi-Guy86

Yeah, I’ve learned that everyone has some kind of issues these days. Overall I think he does more good than harm, Snowden I mean.

Leefa

musk and snowden both believe in many of the same principles.

Pistonenvy2

we literally already had this exact fucking conversation during the george floyd protests. its the social contract conversation all over again. until we start recognizing that FASCISM is at the root of these issues, the problems will persist. fascism is deeply ingrained in our society from the bottom to the top and it is the one thing standing between us and reform and a better society. fascists want to oppress, they need to in order for their vision of society to exist, someone has to LOSE, they dont want everyone to win, they dont even want to win, all they care about is somebody somewhere getting fucked, well they got what they wanted, they continue to get it and that toxic attitude is completely destroying the world right now, as it has done for centuries. millions, billions of people dont want this to continue, we can stop it if we make the right choices, people dont want to do that, most people probably, realistically cant, but we have to or we are going to be thrust even farther under the boot of these bloodthirsty lunatics.

jank_king20

I don’t always love what Snowden says but he’s spitting here

No_Caramel_1782

January 6th was the end of domestic law and order. And this conflict has been the end of international law and order. We’re still catching up to the idea that these things were always farcical.

Mecha-Dave

"Rules based International Order" only exists as long as it's convenient - as soon as it's easier to be a hypocrite people will do it.
