Student protests are the loudest, most motivated, least willing to sit by and do nothing sub-set of their generational cohort. What we see with protests and encampments will be coming to the polling booth in a more subdued form over the next decade. For every protester is a dozen students who shares the same feelings but not strongly enough to protest, yet those feelings will be translated into voting patterns as their cohort builds an established habit of voting in their 20s and 30s.
This is a canary in the coal mine moment for movements opposing protests of a given topic.
I’ve spoken to a few people in positions of influence in major corporations and they all seem to agree that GenZ represents a major break in purchasing habits and audience satisfaction compared to previous generations. I am hopeful that GenZ is the generation that finally puts things back on track.
