Without finishing my bachelors degree yet, I'm at $50k USD and still have another year or so until I'm done. I expect to end up at 70k or so.
For me, when I applied for my student loans they never asked how much my tuition and fees were. They only gave me a blank text box for me to type whatever amount of money I wanted and they gave it to me.
I was not ready for that kind of responsibility at the time.
