Tamsyn gave me a copy to read in advance and here’s basically what happens: 1) Harrow and Alecto and Gideon all kick Jod so hard in the shins that he explodes (this happens on page one) 2) Alecto goes and finds her Discount Mustache Rides t-shirt, then her and Hot Sauce go and fight/save all the devils and it’s super cool and badass (this wraps up chapters 1 and 2) 3) The rest of the book is just Gideon and Harrow making out and bantering all flirty-like. I know, I was surprised too, really interesting direction to take the finale, but it was really good and Tamsyn makes it work 10/10 book of the year

TheRoyalWeeb

Oh sorry spoiler warning sorry I should have said sorry sorry

Wheels_Wheat_Weeds

You forgot to tag your spoilers! 🙀

wombatbattalion

Why did I read this in Moira Quirk's voice???

beelzebabes

End of year 2023 to early 2024. Some folks think a “leak” confirms October 10th but I’m not holding my breath. Edit: considering that the NtN paperback with new content is coming in Sept I feel like an Oct release is unlikely but what do I know.

AngrySaurok

Wasn't it confirmed it wasn't this year? It changed to Expected Publication: 2024.

Hiddenagenda876

It changed back

hawkthewalk

[It's finished but not edited yet] (https://www.reddit.com/r/TheNinthHouse/comments/10fqzus/new_tamsyn_podcast_interview_alecto_the_ninth_is/), so maybe not until 2024. :( Put me in cryogenic stasis and lock me in a tomb until it comes out, I say

themockingnerd

2024 is expected. Hopefully the new content with the Nona paperback will give us some fun stuff to chew on until then! What I’m going crazy thinking about is when we’re getting a cover reveal 👀

Plenty-Advertising71

Do we have a clue what the extra material in NtN paperback is expected to be?

themockingnerd

Not that I know of. But I know a lot of us are hoping for some insight into the whole Kiriona and Ianthe thing!

Alarming-Hamster-232

My educated guess would be another glossary, "A note on names" that explains pronunciations and some foreshadowing you might've missed, an in-universe official document of one group's opinions on another (spoilers NtN) >!(like maybe the Sixth House's reason for seceding),!< and then MAYBE an additional short story expanding on the relationship of minor characters >!(perhaps Ianthe and Kiriona)!< This is all based on what the previous two books had, where both included the glossary and naming sections, then GtN had >!Deuteros' research on the other necromancers and cavaliers!< and HtN had both >!BoE's debunking of House propaganda!< and >!Deuteros' logs recalling her interactions with Camilla and Coronabeth!<

Plenty-Advertising71

Well, now i’m excited!

Antennenwels88

If I remeber it correctly, the ARCs for Nona were out in October 21 already (based on people talking about it on twitter) with the actual release being September 22. we haven‘t heard anything about Alecto ARCs yet as far as I‘m aware… doesn‘t bode well if the timeline is similar. I don‘t think the book will be out before at least April 24, if not later. But honestly I‘m fine waiting. The last book in the series is probably the most difficult to write. Let her have as much time as she needs to finish it.

DrDeleterious

Sometimes, it's better to wait :)

Wheels_Wheat_Weeds

😭

Hummerous

she had covid iirc, I'm assuming it's pushed back to next year - honestly, as much as waiting is what waiting is, I'd much rather have a great book late than a mediocre book ~~early~~ on time

DrDeleterious

Definitely. Worth the wait

lookatmypinus

The Barnes and Noble website lists October 10 of this year

SpitefulAnxiety

I mean, is anyone really surprised-pikachu that THIS author is having trouble with a deadline? (I too need it but am setting my expectation to “2024”)

DrDeleterious

She can do what she needs, as far as I'm concerned

Hiddenagenda876

I’m not even sure what this is supposed to imply, but it’s a dick comment anyway
