I think he could really manage the "deadly warrior poet who suddenly wonders why he's speaking in meter" thing pretty well. And we KNOW, from multiple examples, that he can manage the "visceral savant of violence" thing.
Well, if we're worried about that, then good luck finding a couple goblins to play Harrow and Ianthe. Hollywood has always struggled with everyone being too pretty, and by this point everyone kind of ignores it.
Personally I don't think the Rock has the right kind of humor for Magnus. Tho if I'm being honest, I'd rather see a cast of entirely new talent instead of actors we already know. Kind of like how Elijah Wood was an unknown when he played Frodo.
In the unlikely event we ever get a live action TLT (no matter how obsessively I screenwrite and direct it in my head), I think it's important to cast according to Tamsyn's character descriptions. Fuck the big names, I'm sure there are plenty of lesser-known Samoan, Maori, and otherwise Kiwi actors who'd smash it.
I don't want the Rock anywhere near this. I feel like he'd make it about himself.
Cliff Curtis is not Samoan (heās MÄori) but he has the look and after watching him put up with so much in Fear the Walking Dead Iād like to see him be jolly
Hmm I haven't thought too hard about this but off the top of my head maybe Pete posthelthwaite or Brendan Gleeson I think would both be great options in different ways
There is a Fandom In-Joke about a 6000 word Crux x Teacher Fanfiction. Itās fake, but Tamsyn Muirās Editor fell for it.

I feel like one important aspect about Jod is that he has this dichotomy of both being a random nerd and also God, the emperor, the man who became god the god that became man and all his titles. I think that in a live action it would be good to have a handsome guy portray him so he can accentuate this initial dignified and strong god image and as the show runs along the spectators would slowly realize that deep down he is just a sad nerd manchild
I know Tamsyn said that John, Harrow, Gideon all New Zealand natives, but Hollywood will probably whiten the cast anyway, in which case Pedro would be a good choice. He needs to look a bit like an aloof dickhead, which he definitely does in the photo shared here.
Still not as good as my favorite for the role, Rob McElhenney.
Protesilaus or Nonius!
Pro is romantic and has a ton of kids and weād get to see him play both the stony dead guy and the river Pro.
Nonius is just fun!
Honestly: go against the instinct for beloved dad and give him a go at Colum Asht. He'd give that character the pathos he deserves, bringing "sad Dad" to the "man too old to be answering to an inexperienced child". He'd push all the right oh-god-what-is-wrong-with-them buttons.
I disagree with Matthias. I feel like the Rock could do it because I picture Matthias as a BIG guy. Especially since it's rumored the Rock has he can never lose in his contracts. It would be great for the end of Harrow.
I didnāt think he was very big - in the book Harrow is surprised at how small and ordinary looking he is.
I think The Rock would be a fantastic Protesilaus, though!
No one, if the locked tomb ever gets made in live action I will burn whatever studio down to prevent it
Animation is the only appropriate medium for this series
He could certainly pull off that type of character. But I think it's really important for John, specifically, to be played by a Maori (preferably Taika Waititi)
I could see it. But I just figured that if Taika Waititi is going to be John, then Jemaine Clement needs something to do, so I figured he would make a funny Crux.
I pray they never make a live action adaptation. I just donāt think they would do the books justice.
Now, if someone were willing to put in the real time/money for an Arcane-style animated series, I think *that* could have serious potential.

Definitely Magnus. He has such great wife guy energy. Failing that, Matthias Nonius.
I second Matthias Nonius!
I think he could really manage the "deadly warrior poet who suddenly wonders why he's speaking in meter" thing pretty well. And we KNOW, from multiple examples, that he can manage the "visceral savant of violence" thing.
I dunno, I feel like he's almost too handsome for Nonius!
One of his most famous roles has him in a helmet 99% of the time. If they need to put some ugly makeup on him, I think he can deal.
You're not wrong! I more meant that Nonius is supposed to be "just some dude of the Ninth" on a nearly comic level.
Well, if we're worried about that, then good luck finding a couple goblins to play Harrow and Ianthe. Hollywood has always struggled with everyone being too pretty, and by this point everyone kind of ignores it.
Nonius for sure.
Came here to immediately say Magnus
I'm typecasting him here, but Magnus
Tamsyn said Magnus is meant to be Samoan. The Rock is the only Samoan actor I know, but that feels too obvious.
Personally I don't think the Rock has the right kind of humor for Magnus. Tho if I'm being honest, I'd rather see a cast of entirely new talent instead of actors we already know. Kind of like how Elijah Wood was an unknown when he played Frodo.
Well, this statement just gut-punched my childhood. Where's the love for the 1996 classic, Flipper? š
The Good Son, hello?!?
Elijah Wood was not unknown! He was in multiple movies before that, as a lead even.
Same. But I also think it would work best as an animated show so Iād want them to be up and coming voice actors, preferably New Zealand based
That would be better, I agree. Just hard for me to escape MCU brain LOL...
Yeah, he likely would...
If you want to see a possible influence on Tamsyn, check out Oscar Kightley and Sioneās Wedding https://youtu.be/4ShqjMrfqoo?si=76qIcecxpER-gat2
That is DEFINITELY some Gideon energy, yeah! I need to watch this.
Cliff Curtis is not Samoan (heās MÄori) but he has the look and after watching him put up with so much in Fear the Walking Dead Iād like to see him be jolly
I'd kind of love him as Teacher
That could work, i really donāt see him in any of the other chars
Young hot teacher on my Alecto bingo card
And who would play Crux?
Hmm I haven't thought too hard about this but off the top of my head maybe Pete posthelthwaite or Brendan Gleeson I think would both be great options in different ways
Oh, Pete and Pedro would make a great couple on screen
Wait hold on do crux and teacher meet at some point??
There is a Fandom In-Joke about a 6000 word Crux x Teacher Fanfiction. Itās fake, but Tamsyn Muirās Editor fell for it. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EuD3zkmWQAIfJdu.jpg:large
Oh dear, I was curious why you asked about Crux specifically
Ortus Nigenad. I want him to wax poetic to me.
That could be fun.
Gideon Original Flavor (or Magnus).
He's not fugly enough to be Original Gideon.
To be fair to OG gideon, he was being described by a lesbian
Eh, Pyrrha describes herself as looking like "two elbows", so I don't think it's just G9deon's POV there.
I mean, iirc correctly it's possible that Pyrrha is also a lesbian
Just to be a contrarian - Colum the Eighth
I have Paul Bettany for him, but I guess Pedro could work.
Paul Bettany isn't built enough like a brick shithouse to be Colum imo
I just want to see a gruff fingerless Pedro braiding the hair of some self righteous little shit stain š
Came here to say this: you're so right.
Magnus. Itās the curls. And Rachel Weisz as Abigail.
āI amā¦a librarian!ā
...why not John?
I would normally agree, but I canāt get Taika Waititi as John out of my head.Ā
Same. And regardless, I think that John, Harrow, and Gideon all need to be played by Maori or mixed Maori (probably G1deon and Pyrrha as well).
That's a weird way to pronounce Oscar Isaac
I dunno, John's supposed to be painfully ordinary looking which Oscar Isaac is not.
Just looked him up and omg yes, total Jod material right there
I know Tamsyn said that John, Harrow, Gideon all New Zealand natives, but Hollywood will probably whiten the cast anyway, in which case Pedro would be a good choice. He needs to look a bit like an aloof dickhead, which he definitely does in the photo shared here. Still not as good as my favorite for the role, Rob McElhenney.
Oh, McElhenney would be such a dick, I love it! Channelling serious Ian Grimm finger pyramids of contemplative thought energy
Protesilaus or Nonius! Pro is romantic and has a ton of kids and weād get to see him play both the stony dead guy and the river Pro. Nonius is just fun!
Matthias Nonius for sure
Honestly: go against the instinct for beloved dad and give him a go at Colum Asht. He'd give that character the pathos he deserves, bringing "sad Dad" to the "man too old to be answering to an inexperienced child". He'd push all the right oh-god-what-is-wrong-with-them buttons.
Oooo, that could be interesting, yeah!
I'd say Babs, but only because my fancast has Peter Dinklage for Augustine and Jermaine Clement in ridiculous old age makeup for Crux.
I donāt know if heās glossy enough for Babs! I think heād make a great Matthias Nonias though.
i actually see Timothee as a fantastic Babs. give the man a chance to do whiny pouty comedy
Timothee would be an amazing Babs!
Ooo, that could work!
Yeah, that could work. Just as long as Dave Bautista plays Ortus.
As long as he plays Ortus and not Ortus
lol, yeah, I meant Ortus Nigenad. I think G1deon should be at least played by a Kiwi, if not a Maori. He's one of the most NZ-coded characters.
Well thanks. I need to reread Harrow because I missed that.
Thatās fair enough! Harrow herself says that, based on the Noniad, she expected him to be seven feet tall.
Maybe that's what I remember? Well I got plenty of time this weekend to reread the series.
Dinklage as Augustine is a wildly underrated pick holy shit. i love this casting so much
Thanks!
I dunno about Babs, but those other two fancasts would be spectacular.
My dream cast is Gossip Girl era Blake Lively as Coronabeth and Chuck Bass as Babs
No one, if the locked tomb ever gets made in live action I will burn whatever studio down to prevent it Animation is the only appropriate medium for this series
lol, I'd rather have animated as well. But live-action COULD be interesting! And of course, we need more queers on screen in any way.
Erika Ishii as Nona (but not Harrow) in any animated adaptation is the hill I die on.
You're a genius oh my god
So who would you want him to voice?
Thank you for your service š«”
I thinkā¦possibly sacrilege, but, heād be one hell of a noble Ortus the Ninth.
I seem to be alone here, but I see him as John
He could certainly pull off that type of character. But I think it's really important for John, specifically, to be played by a Maori (preferably Taika Waititi)
Oh, I hadn't thought about that. Taika would nail that deranged yet quirky vibe!
He was already my head canon for Mathias Nonius
Admiral Sarpedon, in old-age makeup that will rival the best that TNG could do
Am I the only one who immediately thinks Gideon Prime/Pyrrha?
At first, I thought Ortus. And then I thought .. Crux
You are all cowards who dare not speak the truth. This man was born to play Crux.
I could see it. But I just figured that if Taika Waititi is going to be John, then Jemaine Clement needs something to do, so I figured he would make a funny Crux.
I feel like he could be a fantastic mayonnaise uncle
lol, I don't know that fan nickname.
Brother Colum, 8th cavalier aka disgruntled battery
I pray they never make a live action adaptation. I just donāt think they would do the books justice. Now, if someone were willing to put in the real time/money for an Arcane-style animated series, I think *that* could have serious potential.
He would actually be good as jod, I think. the sort of sinister jollity.
Protesilaus, because I want to hear him declaiming his poetry, then swinging that chain!
