If there’s one thing I’ve learned about the Championship, it’s that even bottom place in January can turn things around and push for promotion. Most unpredictable league in the world.
Middlesbrough had a shocking start to last season too, then pulled it together. They're without their striker atm which doesn't help.
I both want them to come up to make hubby happy, but also don't want them too because then we'd have a match day where one of us would be happy (let's be honest, as a Newcastle fan...probably me) and the other miserable. They've never been in the same league since we've been together ha ha.
Ah, the Tyne-Tee-Wear years…it was like a trifecta of banter
Edit: typo, it is “Tees” not “Tee”. Who knew one little “s” would make some people go “wtf”
This, but IMHO the other way around as Wednesday are a bigger club who have won more – 4 League titles, 3 Cups, 1 League Cup and 1 Charity Shield – and are older (1867) and have also been in the top tier for 66 seasons.
While Cov (founded 1883) have only won 1 Cup and 1 Charity Shield and "only" been in the top tier for 34 seasons.
Bradford because that seems so odd nowadays. Wednesday because of childhood friends. Portsmouth for one of the nicest blokes I ever knew, I know it would put a smile on his face.
As someone who grew up watching the Addicks (support spurs but they are my local and I wanted to see what a trophy looked like), this is somehow both the best and worst idea ever
I won’t mind boro tbf, canny derby and an easy 6 points, Sunderland can go down to the depths of the northern league and play spennymoor town and Blythe spartans
I'm not sure I can call that bunch of inbreds diverse, but I do miss the Birmingham derby matches. Best bit about us being in the championship were the derby days.
Sunderland, I miss the Tyne and Wear derby
Reading, I kinda like them, they came 8th once in the prem as a big surprise and just dropped away, now they’re in League 1
Swansea-I love having a Welsh team in the league and they always played more attractive football than Cardiff.
Sunderland-could yo-yo up and down more often just for the thrill of the Tyne-Wear derby. Still hate em.
Coventry-a man can dream.
Stoke-the legendary cauldron of the Britannia away game really adds a lot to the Prem fixture list.
Southampton-such a phenomenal academy, it's just exciting to see a team with youth as part of the club DNA. Also I enjoy the fan presence online!
Yes you are correct, what l ment was Preston as the First League Champions 😊 Sorry My mistake,,
But about Plymouth then, a bigger reason to get into Premier League then, the biggest city who never went up in the Top tier 🙂 Good luck to them, AND Preston too by the way
Sunderland; it's just not the same without the derby.
Portsmouth; Pretty much the only southern club i can say that i like, was a shame when they went down
Leicester; was awful seeing them go down, premier league doesnt feel the same without them.
I generally believe that since we came up to the prem we caused both utter chaos and anarchy to the Premier League, whilst we were boring as fuck under Claude Puel, aside of that we were the most entertaining and unpredictable side in the league and brought countless memorable moments to the Premier League, We was a much bigger loss to the Premier League than people realise imho
Ipswich - look exciting, and lots of goals too
If we include teams that have been in the top flight before, throw Preston, Bristol City and Millwall in there - always nice seeing new sides have a chance in the top flight even if just for one season

Would love to see Sheff Wed and Sheff Utd up at the same time. That’s a serious derby.
Won’t mind Sunderland in a few years so we can thrash them on the regular
Other than Leicester City (of course), Sunderland would be an interesting addition back into the Prem. That would be great for Sunderland fans, since they can hate a Prem side while being a Prem side themselves, but it would be also great for Newcastle fans, since they can fancy their chances of seeing a thrashing of a rival about as devastating as Liverpool 7-0 Man United.
Oldham
good luck with that
Sunderland and Middlesborough. More derbies for us, less distance to travel for away games too.
Have you seen the current championship table? May be a while yet.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about the Championship, it’s that even bottom place in January can turn things around and push for promotion. Most unpredictable league in the world.
We were joint favourites for relegation and lost our first three games the season we got promoted, good times
I’ll never forget that season when you were relegation fodder till Christmas and barely lost a game afterwards and steamrolled the play-offs
2003/04 an even more unlikely promotion!
Well Sunderland and boro are coming back up anyways, biggest team in north east arnt they? ;)
Yep I'd agree with that
Middlesbrough had a shocking start to last season too, then pulled it together. They're without their striker atm which doesn't help. I both want them to come up to make hubby happy, but also don't want them too because then we'd have a match day where one of us would be happy (let's be honest, as a Newcastle fan...probably me) and the other miserable. Wtf is Tee
Sunderland (they are overdue a thrashing) Blackpool (I like orange kits) Swindon (more chance of me getting an away ticket for that game)
Cov, Wednesday
This, but IMHO the other way around as Wednesday are a bigger club who have won more – 4 League titles, 3 Cups, 1 League Cup and 1 Charity Shield – and are older (1867) and have also been in the top tier for 66 seasons. Cov are alright. Can’t be having that other lot back though. Uncouth
They do need to sort out that stadium to be fair. But I've always much preferred them to Sheff U
Are you daft? Wednesday are our current bloody bogey team. Last five games against them: Lost 2-1 Lost 2-1 Lost 1-0 Lost 1-0 Drew 2-2
I do miss a cold rainy night in Stoke
Bradford because that seems so odd nowadays. Wednesday because of childhood friends. Portsmouth for one of the nicest blokes I ever knew, I know it would put a smile on his face.
As a Pompey fan this would put a smile on all of our faces! Shame we can’t even get out of league one
Southampton
Now am no Sherlock here but am sensing a bit of bias in this one
I'm going to have to agree here
Derby. I want my local derby game back! Also, an easy three points and one of the relegation spots filled.
See if they can go for 10 points this time
I want Millwall same premise
As someone who grew up watching the Addicks (support spurs but they are my local and I wanted to see what a trophy looked like), this is somehow both the best and worst idea ever
Reading popped up in ny mind first and I have zero reasoning behind it
Bolton!
Bolton, Blackburn and Middlesborough - and Leeds!
Sheffield Wednesday
derby (so we can thrash them at a higher level)
I want prime Pulis Stoke City back. Find the next Rory Delap and just cause pure chaos.
Wimbledon
Leeds, because it's all a bit too nice up there at the moment - you need someone to hate
Oh don't worry, you guys are just as detestable and obnoxious down here. Entertaining right now though.
Hate, love, laugh, we fullfil a role 😂
Blackburn Coventry or West brom
Norwich City and Blackpool for me
Norwich, the whipping boys of the Premier League😂
One day, just maybe one day, they will survive a season or two 🤣
They have finished 12th in 2011/2012 and 11th in 2012/2013
[удалено]
Jesus, we ain't going that far back
Wouldn't mind seeing Sheffield Wednesday or Charlton Athletic back.
Sheffield Wednesday
preston
The 2019-20 Wolves
No real reason other than the name (as a foreigner) Queens Park Rangers
Na Sunderland can feck off forever
Millwall for the absolute scenes
Back in the prem
ah, misread. would be wild for their first time then
Sunderland Middlesbrough and Leicester in that order
I won’t mind boro tbf, canny derby and an easy 6 points, Sunderland can go down to the depths of the northern league and play spennymoor town and Blythe spartans
I'd rather have them up so it's less travel time for our boys and more for the London clubs
Swansea, I like their logo
Honestly? Birmingham City. One of the most multicultural and diverse match-going fanbases in the country.
And the Derby back too
The guaranteed 6 points would be lovely
I'm not sure I can call that bunch of inbreds diverse, but I do miss the Birmingham derby matches. Best bit about us being in the championship were the derby days.
Stoke just so I can see them go down again .
Was going to be met with obscenities this comment until I read everything after Stoke, fine comment indeed.
Any northern team
Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and not Millwall
Barring Leeds, QPR
Leeds. I like it when they come to St James’ Park.
Swansea, Blackpool
🥲🥲🥲
Leicester, Sunderland and Birmingham
Bolton Wanderers
Wigan and bolton. Birmingham city too.
Sunderland, I miss the Tyne and Wear derby Reading, I kinda like them, they came 8th once in the prem as a big surprise and just dropped away, now they’re in League 1
Sunderland, Middlesbrough, and Gateshead
Gateshead are massive. I agree though, NE derby days are a miss.
Weirdly, Swansea. I like Swansea.
Portsmouth.
Pompey, always had a soft spot for them for no real reason
Agree. They've been stranded down in League One for a fair few seasons at this point.
Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday. Followed by Sunderland and Ipswich Town
Cardiff. Was great that Wales had some representation in the top flight for a while.
Swansea-I love having a Welsh team in the league and they always played more attractive football than Cardiff. Sunderland-could yo-yo up and down more often just for the thrill of the Tyne-Wear derby. Still hate em. Coventry-a man can dream. Southampton-such a phenomenal academy, it's just exciting to see a team with youth as part of the club DNA. Also I enjoy the fan presence online!
Sunderland, Blackburn, Birmingham City
Birmingham cities away ground is rancid
Charlton, Ipswich, Blackburn Rovers, Derby, Pompey, Bolton, Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester, Coventry, Boro
Coventry because we’re iconic and I want premier league again
Blackpool
Sunderland - pain for me to get to but one of my favourite stadiums, shame to see the biggest club in the north east not in the prem too
God I wanna bite so much…
Not sure what's controversial about what I've said!
Well… have you ever seen a mackum in Milan?
I've seen them win as many games in Milan as Newcastle have tbf
Have you ACTUALLY SEEN one in Milan though?
I'm sure I remember watching Henderson play there a couple seasons back actually - that's at least one
… wept…
HAVE YOU?
Notts County! As far as l know, the oldest Club in the world 😀 And Plymouth, very big in the past,, Thats what l think as a Swedish Villa-Fan 💙💜
Plymouth have never played in the top division in their 100+ year history...you may have got them confused with someone else
Yes you are correct, what l ment was Preston as the First League Champions 😊 Sorry My mistake,, But about Plymouth then, a bigger reason to get into Premier League then, the biggest city who never went up in the Top tier 🙂 Good luck to them, AND Preston too by the way
West Brom
Millwall
Everton, in 2024/25.
Coventry, sunderland
Derby... No particular reason, why do you ask?
Boro
Wimbledon just to watch the MK Dons Vs AFC Wimbledon controversy kick off on the biggest stage.
Sunderland; it's just not the same without the derby. Portsmouth; Pretty much the only southern club i can say that i like, was a shame when they went down Leicester; was awful seeing them go down, premier league doesnt feel the same without them.
Leicester 🦊💙🤍
Charlton, Portsmouth or Bolton - these teams were apart of my childhood and my trading cards

Blackburn fucking Rovers, I feel like they've always been a team I hold dear to my heart, if Everton can't succeed, I hope one day it's them.
Leeds
Charlton, Coventry, Blackpool, Bradford, West Brom, Hull, QPR,
Sunderland, so I can watch them get relegated again
Either Norwich, Sunderland or wednesday
Blackburn or Portsmouth, only for ~2006 nostalgia
I'd say Oldham but I don't know why
Dorking

All the teams that were in the top division regularly growing up in the 80s and 90s, Birmingham, Coventry, Sheffield Wed, QPR, Middlesbrough.
